  1. Hey guys! I am looking to buy a Line 6 Spyder amp, but do not know what footswitch to buy along with it. Could someone send me a link for the correct footswitch for the 60 watt one?
  2. Is it possible to plug in a Digitech MC7 midi footswitch into the midi in of the pod hd to control it? For example, I need to change presets quickly on stage and I've had this footswitch laying around. I have searched for hours on the subject and there is very little information regarding it... Thanks for any help.
  3. Just ordered my Helix Floor unit. I'm running a Fender Mustang GT100 amp with the MGT-4 4-button footswitch unit to change amp settings and presets. The cable is just a basic instrument line in but I've been unable to locate any documentation on what control signals it puts out. My idea is to program a preset on the Helix that lets me replicate the functionality of that switch unit so as to eliminate the need for an extra board. I've searched these forums for related info but come up short; ditto for general googling. Does anyone have some insight (and/or links) to share on how I might be able to pull this off? Many thanks in advance!
  4. Hello all, I have a Lowdown 750. I use the two button, cat 5 switch, but get confused where I am on the four presets. I don't want to use the fbv express as it's bulky. What can I use that is simple, and four individual buttons, preferably with lights? Must have cat 5. thanks!
  5. Still rather new to the Helix and coming at this from my experiences using an AX8, which I've had longer and I am more familiar with. I'm comparing the two to decide which to keep, but that's a thread for a different day. So my questions. 1) I've gathered that the footswitch layouts are limited to a set of predefined options, which is kind of a bummer for me. The closest to what I want is the snap/stomp option. However, what if a preset only has 2-3 snapshots as is often the case for mine? The 3rd/4th snapshot is still displayed and its footswitch still "active" even through the snapshot isn't set up. Is there any way to disable or reassign these unused snapshot footswitches? 2) With the AX8 I use what's called Control Switches as a sort of lead boost that can be activated on any scene (the AX8 equivalent of snapshots). On the Helix I think it's pretty similar with the Controller Assignment but haven't worked it all out yet. On the AX8 I set a footswitch to control/adjust multiple blocks and various parameters across blocks. Typically I engage an EQ block, add a little dB boost, and also bump the input gain on the amp. I haven't tried yet but I'm assuming I can do the same on the Helix, engage a block and adjust a couple parameters all with a single footswitch and one that will be available across all snapshots in a preset? Number 1 is still a bit of a shortcoming, at least with how I set up my presets. Now if only they Helix would allow full flexibility in footswitch assignments similar to the AX8, that would be a very nice feature add.
  6. My M9's record footswitch seems to have a habit of turning itself on. Whether I'm activating another pedal or turning on a separate preset, it would just start recording a new loop or turn on the reverb I have set to it. It's quite annoying and I can't use it anymore. I've tried looking at the footswitches inside, and one of the springs was a little weird. I switch the little screws that pushes and activates the switch for the record and stop switches, and the problem was moved to the stop switch. I decided to temporarily switch the bad screw/spring to the tap tempo so I can still use it as a looper, but the problem came back to the record after 10 minutes of playing! I also found that the footswitch itself doesn't click like the others do when you press it. Anyone have any ideas?
  7. Hello, So I acquired an HD500 through a trade. It has been a little work as I discovered I was given the wrong power supply for the unit and it would overheat and restart mid-gig. I purchased the correct one and everything has been great. Every once in a while my FS3 freezes up but seems to work after a few minutes. Sometimes it works immediately. I took the pedal apart and blew some dust out and it hasn't really given me any issues. All has been well EXCEPT today=( I booted up my HD500 and the entire bottom row of footswitches were not working at all. I immediately thought that it sounded like a software issue or the ribbon connecting the bottom portion was disconnected or something. So, I took it apart again and everything seemed fine. The strange thing? I reassembled the board and googled for about 10 additional minutes. I plugged it back in and the switches work perfectly. The firmware is up to date and I just want to know: Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what the hell is happening? How can I rectify this and avoid this issue in the future? I appreciate any comments ahead of time. Thanks guys, Beau
  8. Interestingly, I was building brand new Presets from scratch. I figured it was time for a new sound journey. Situation now occurring; 1) Setup patch with multiple FX blocks assigned to on footswitch in latch mode 2) Activate group by stomping on footswitch and the foot switch ring is lit 3) De-activate group, footswitch ring is not lit, but every block icon assigned is now still showing as active even though they are not 4) At this point no FX blocks show the proper state even though every FX block is working in the PA system as I play I checked every Pre-set and though it was a problem with the song list so I use a different song list and now same problem. So I use the trusty FS10+FS11 and no change. FS9+FS10 - rebuild and still problem. Thoughts? Dennis

    POD HD series and FBV3

Although the FBV 3 is fully compatible with the POD HD, POD HD Pro, and POD HD Pro X, the footswitch labels do not line up with the corresponding functions as compared to the FBV Shortboard MKII. The FBV 3 has been redesigned and it no longer has a Function 2 footswitch. What previously was assigned to the Function 2 switch on the Shortboard MKII is now done with FS 1 (Set List Select Mode On/Off) on the FBV3. The footswitches that were labeled Stomp, Modulation, Delay, and Reverb from the Shortboard are now FS 2 - FS 5 on the FBV3. Function 1 (Looper Mode On/Off) remains the same between both pedals. Also, when assigning stompboxes to footswitches, the POD will not correlate to the FBV 3, it will be off by one. So FS 1 on the Pod corresponds with FS 2 on the FBV3, and FS 2 on the POD is now FS 3, etc. See the figure below for an example.
  10. sometimes after the 2.10 update, i hit a footswitch and it doesnt show up as selected on the helix. but it still works , just doesnt show up on the helix. weird. help!
  11. A "what if" question for Line 6 and other Firehawk users: I am happy with Firehawk FX, but I wish one thing was different - I switch effects on and off more frequently than I change patches. Stepping over the patch change buttons to hit delay or overdrive on/off, I frequently miss and hit the patch change buttons below them. Would it be an easy software/firmware fix to give us the option to "flip" the functions of the 2 footswitch rows? Since everything is digital, it would seem feasible, but I was just curious to see if anyone else would be interested in that option...
  12. Just posted this on Ideascale. For all those who are needing more Snapshots on the Helix. Two Phase Snapshot Footswitches Mode Idea Actions My idea is to enable two Snapshots per footswitch and be able to A/B between them. Repeatedly stepping on a footswitch toggles between the two Snapshots assigned to that footswitch. This would effectively give you 16 total snapshots or 8 if you're in Preset/Snap mode. http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Two-Phase-Snapshot-Footswitches-Mode/857489-23508
  13. Hi Guys I know the Helix Control is the recommended footswitch for the Helix, but has anyone had any luck getting the helix to Recognise the FBV Express / Shortboards to work with the Helix? I have not been able to get my shortboards to be recognised, which is a shame as i was hoping to use that instead of my FCB1010 with the helix. Many of us HDPRO users that have upgraded, would still like to be able to use their footswiches :)
  14. Ok, I just can't figure this out. Please help. I don't want to use snapshots on this particular preset. I have too many effects assigned to those 10 footswitches. I have two distortion blocks. I want one to turn off when I turn the other on. Sometimes I want them both off. I never want them both on. (I often accidentally turn them both on and it's awful). How might I do this without snapshots? Thanks!!
  15. Hi, I am with a company designing a custom midi controller that we wanted to have work with the M9. We are using Arduino to implement the controller. I have the looper doing play/stop and record via midi, all of which work great. When I tried to implement overdubbing, the M9 does not respond. I am sending a midi control change message with controller number 50 and a value of 0 on channel 1. I have tested this by sending the midi message to Abelton, which recieves it correctly and verifies this is what is being sent. I have also tried implementing it via Arduino's midi library and via their serial.write sending the message manually. I checked the midi input in setup as well, and have tried it both as channel 1 and omni. Another weird thing is that when the M9 is in record mode and receives this message it goes into playing while overdubbing, but once the M9 is playing the message does nothing. Really unsure what is wrong here unless our M9 is just defective, I have exhausted every other factor of error I can think of. I am going off the midi controls listed in the manual here: http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593fca717b/application/pdf/M9%20Advanced%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf We are on a deadline to have this working so any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!
  16. Hi guys, I'm having a strange problem with my HD400. The thing is it randomly turns up or down any of the FX1, FX2, FX3 knobs of the "Smart FX" controls and the reverb knob too. It can be seen in the screen when it happens. I'm not quite sure what causes it, but I suspect that it has to do with the footswitches. Maybe hitting them a little harder than necessary causes this failure. Does anyone knows if it can be solved or fixed?
  17. Sometimes I wake up at night and ask myself some stupid questions. Here is one of them: "What is the reason for red LEDs on footswitches Bank up/down?" I mean… in what case do they lit up? As a guitarist and singer I am often unsure if I will hit the bank-switches or FS1 and FS5 while playing. Sometimes I accidently kick the bank-switches but wanted the FS. Why didn't they gave them a blue LED-ring to separate the bank-switches from footswitches? Same on the looper and tap
  18. Is there any way to have a single footswitch toggle between 3 states, meaning 3 different sets of enabled and disabled blocks, and/or 3 sets of parameter settings? Like for instance, for a distortion block, between disabled, enabled and relatively tame default settings, and enabled with face-melt drive and level settings? My guess is no, just thought I'd ask instead of assuming that.
  19. I am looking to use a one of the Helix footswitch to call a certain guitar model stored in my JTV Variax? Thanks.
  20. After struggling with this for a while myself I think I found a consistent and easy way to assign multiple blocks to a footswitch and easily bypass the ones I want bypassed when the footswitch is off with predictable results. This may seem obvious but the previous method I was using always seemed to leave me having to save and go back and play with the bypass states again to get the blocks I wanted coming on and off with the footswitch ring reflecting their state properly. PROCEDURE FOR ASSIGNING MULTIPLE BLOCKS TO A FOOTSWITCH Click the "MODE" footswitch to enter pedal view if you are not already there. Use the joystick to navigate to the block you want to assign to a footswitch. Now touch and hold the footswitch you want to assign to your block to. Do not click or tap the footswitch, just touch it gently and hold it like your favorite toy. After you hold it for a second the "Footswitch Assign" screen will pop up. Hit "OK" to assign the footswitch. Now use the joystick to navigate to the next block you want to assign and repeat step #3. Again, as long as you hold (keep your finger down without lifting) the footswitch rather than tapping it, the new block you are attempting to assign to the footswitch will stay selected and the "Footswitch Assign" screen will pop up. Now repeat step #4. You can repeat steps #2, #3, & #4 for up to 8 block assignments (at least as of this post). Finally, after all your chosen blocks are assigned. You can tap (touch and quickly lift off, don't click) the footswitch you have assigned everything to. Notice this time you are tapping, not touching and holding. Each time you tap the footswitch it will move to the next block that you have in your multiple assignment. Push bypass (or not) for each block assigned depending on whether you want if on or off when the footswitch is engaged. Once you have done this you will notice that you can tap your way through the blocks and the footswitch will light up or go dim according to each block's bypass state. Last but not least, if you want your preset to come up with your multiple assigned footswitch on, make sure that before you save it, you select (using the tap method in step #6) one of the blocks that is not bypassed on the multiple assignment. It does not matter which one of the blocks that is not bypassed you select. The opposite of course applies, if you want your preset to come up with the multiple footswitch dimmed and not selected, make sure you select any one of the blocks that is bypassed. Now save your preset or all your work is for naught! Sheesh, with all that tapping and touching and squeezing this post was starting to remind me of an old Journey tune.
  21. With one of my patches I have say 4 different reverbs all assigned to foot switches. When I turn one on I want the remaining 3 to turn off. I messed around with Multiples last night but couldn't get it going. Can this be done?
  22. Moving a "Multiple" assignment (for example turn on Mutant Filter, turn off compressor) from one footswitch to another requires reassigning up to all eight of your pedals/assignments to the new footswitch instead of moving all of the current assignments at one time. Additionally, if you have a customized name it will be lost and you will have to retoggle in the name again. You also lose the color for the footswitch ring if you had that customized as well. Seems like just moving a multiple assignment to an alternate footswitch should retain all of your pedal/assignment choices, the customized name, and the customized color. The only method I am aware of, makes moving a multiple assigned switch, particularly a customized one more painful than it needs to be as you need to essentially rebuild everything you had assigned to the footswitch from scratch. Is there some other method that moves the whole multiple assignment, name, and color at once? If not, this is a feature that would greatly simplify things and save lots 'o time.
  23. Hi' I am a new owner of a POD 500HD. How do I use the footswitches to move between different settings while playing live? As far as I can tell the footswitches only turn individual pedals on and off within a single setting... Thanks :)
  24. hi I have a Variax 500 and it worked well with XPS-AB until now: XLR thru PA - 1/4" trhu a Marshall Amp. Recently, if I switch XLR to PA, it works well and the 1/4" signal is mute; but when I switch to 1/4" the sound thru the amp is good, but at the same time in the XLR signal (that goes thru the PA) there is a noise and not mute. Help! Frank
