  1. Title says: Make FX loop great again. They should! Here is how: Having experiented a bit with the FX loop and trying a lot of things. There is so much wrong with it. You wanna have a FXloop for on of your Gainpedals infront of your digital amp? Noise You wanna have a OD Pedal before your digital Distortion Pedal which also is in front of your digital Amp? Even more Noise You wanna extend your HX (Stomp or Effekts probally) with hardware Pedals cause your preset its allready packed full? wakwaaaak Your FXloop also requiers Blocks which takes space from your overall preset. Sadly, if you think you can "upgrade" the capabilitys of your effects of stomp your mistaken. Idk what it is with Send/return or Loop blocks. pretty sure it wont take much DSP away from anything. We have come so far. Since Update 3.0 we enjoy 8 instead of 6 Block in HX Stomp and Effects. Fix to get more out of the HX: Whouldnt it be great to get Send/Return or Loop Blocks there own sort of thing? Like the Signal Split. We can allready to it, it takes no block. I whould love to see Line6 implement 1 free FXLoop or 1 free set of Send/Return in non Helix hardware with limited Blocks. Just like the Signal Split. --- And that noise.... Its pretty much unusable if you plan on using an Amp within HX and use Hardware OD oder SD. Digital OD and SD are fine. And thats really a shame. Not even the best Gate Pedal with 4cm will help you with that. Since it only takes to block with no hardware signal chain attached to throw white noise at you like nothing else. Can we talk also about FXLoop in Stereo. If you plan on using the Stereo Loop with a Splitter cable to get FX L and R at the same time... yea, you get that. But one Signal chain will be left, the other right. Giving terrible phasing problems. Pretty much unusable that way. Fix for phasing?: Why is it that you dont have a option to make both inputs Mono instead of one R one L stereo. So you can have both of your signalchains but the just produce mono sound. Ofc you want that stereo stuff for delays or something like that. But the raw signal with OD. we dont need stereo for that. Point 1 and 2 combined "Fix": Imagin not having a Send/Return/Loop Right and Left in the first place. Why not having just Send/Return/Loop and let us choose L/R in the setting of the block. That whould mean if you want to create a Preset with 2 different loops, Left and right, you can change them via Snapshot or Button. you have your X Pedal active and wanna switch snapshots and get your X Pedal off the Signalchain and add your Y Pedal. If its an option to select which Channel you wanna have its an instand win. Leave the Trials in peace and you can have 2 signal chains for the price of one. Overall i love my Stomp. But im just so disapointed of the FXloop. Its just a hassle and you litterly gain nothing from it. You actually loose more then you gain, since you cant adress normal pedals via Midi and can only have 1 loop at a time despite having the capabilitys for having 2. I know this phasing issue is discussed for years. And i know that nobody from Line6 will even read this thread. but damn i wish they whould cause i feel like after making such great upgrades to the software, this whould turn the HX from 10 to 11. If you have workarrounds for that. feel free to tell me. I have my setup working now, but again, i have to delete Blocks to get Room for FXloop which doesnt really do a lot. I simply cannot have stacks ODs or SD in a chain even with a Gate cause of the all present whitenoise which comes even when you dont have a pedal plugged in. And i cant use the Stereo send and L/R return to its fullest cause of the phasing and Stereo issues. PS: All that stuff whould also make extremly good sense considering the new ishly HX One. If you want to expand HX Stomp or Effects via HX One, you encounter the exact problems. Noise - FXloop blocks ... Fixing them or just adjusting the function of FXloops/Send/Return means HX One becomes actually more viable as an upgrade option. listen to me Line6 :P
  2. I would like to use the Pitch shift for dropped tuning and key changes, etc. I've seen videos where others have made this work. However, when I use the same settings on the Pitch Shift FX I get a doubling of the original tone and the shifted tone. I put the Pitch shift at the front of the pedal chain.
  3. Sorry if this is a basic ask. I run a few pedals in the STEREO loop of my HX Stomp using mono cables. Most of the pedals are mono but the final pedal before returning to the Stomp is a STEREO Boss looper. If I switch to stereo cabling would I hear an improvement? (Looper is 32-Bit with nice drums hence not using the internal looper). Also, what would happen to the signal when it passes through those MONO pedals (not even sure how you run stereo cables into mono pedals). The Stomp runs balanced outs into a pair of Yamaha active monitors.
  4. I have an FBV3 pedalboard connected to a HD PRO X effects processor. I see that individual FXs are assigned to different FS footswitches, depending on the particular preset. Put another way, depending on which preset is being used, different footswitches have to be stomped to turn on / off or control for example the distortion effect. I would rather have a global FS assignment across all presets, that for example could say that the Distortion effect is ALWAYS controlled by for example footswitch FS4. That way I could label the FBV3 footswitches with the FX effects each switch would always control - seems reasonable and a lot easier in a live situation. Is this possible? Am I missing something here?
  5. Hi all, I would like to know if is possible to use 4 Cable Method & FX Loop at same time on the HX Stomp. Anyone have tried this? What do I need to do this? I always have to change my cables when I'm playing in different places, so I want to let the connections ready and just plug the cables, more specifically, I'll use 100% of time my pedals on the FX Loop (cuz I use it after a comp), and when I need to use the 4 Cable Method, I just want to plug the cables to and from the amp. Kind regards Gabriel
  6. Dear community, I am the owner of the Line6 Spider IV 150 amp, and the FBV Express MKII controller. I bought the pedal controller cause I wanted to be able to activate effects (FX) such as delay, gain, and drive with the controller. However, I can only seem to change channel with the controller, which is not what I wanted. I have installed the "Line6 FBV Control" software, but I can't figure out how to set the switches to control these effects. Best wishes, Rikki
  7. Hello, I have several issues : 1-with the fx buttons of the amp : sometimes when I turn them off, the led stays on and the effect too, so it's really pisses me off, is there anyone that can help ? 2- Also, on the screen, the effect that stays on is always displayed, and I can't access to the presets 3- And the third one is that on the screen, when I touche an EQ button (Bass, Treble, Mid, Chan Vol, Drive), it stays for a very long time and I can't access to presets Thanks for your help PS : I have already upgraded the firmware version of the amp to 2.0
  8. Hey all, I know this is a common topic but I still haven't found a satisfying answer so I'm going to ask it... How can I remove the tone coloring that occurs on the HD500X when in stompbox mode and all effects (and amp models) are OFF? I can tell when I go to the tuner and use the bypass mode that with all effects off, the 500X is still affecting my tone. In tuner bypass mode, the signal to amp is dry and unaffected do the 500x *should* be capable of not coloring my signal. In regular play, with all fx off and the amp model disabled, the tone is darker and the signal is weaker. This is really frustrating because what I wanted the 500X is for it's stompbox effects not an amp modeler. I know about the 4 cable method and using the modeling for the preamp toy amp, but that will be a last resort. I just really want the effects and my amp's tone! Please help! 9. Hello, I'm begineer in the world of records and I start testing my Firehawk FX how one audio interface, however, I having problems: first I connect my Firehawk FX in my nootebook with the USB entrance; adjust the volume level of record on my computer in the max and start recording in the Audacity but the volume of my records don't is good how the volume of another records that I view in YouTube. What is the problem of my records? I need buy one audio interface to solve this or exist one resource that can help me and I don't know? Grateful if you can help me!
  10. Hi Guys. I've bougt my new HELIX and moving my first steps to learn and use it! I am interested in using it with my Hughes and Kettner Grandmaister 36, in particular connecting Helix to amp's FX Loop return, so using my tube amp only as power amp. The question is not about other ways to connect… I know the 4CM, I know connection in front of amp…I know that everyone has his own preferences….but my necessity is to connect in the amp's fx loop return. OK… I've a simple question, becouse I've read tons of articles, posts, spent hours on YouTube videos… but without finding the answer :) If I connect from HELIX 1/4 mono out to amp's FX Loop return,.....what should I select in global settings INS/OUTS? Instrument or Line? Thanks for your attention and feedbacks!
  11. Any rumours or news about a FHFX upgrade to a newer model? Getting a little frustrated by the lack of updates and support from Line 6, so I’m hoping there may be a new model coming out between the pricier Helix and this one??
  12. Don't know why but ever since updating to 2.80 and playing around with the king of tone and other effects I've been thinking about what pedals would be great additions to the helix. At the moment, my number one pedal would be the Buggfx Daydream delay. Such an insane little pedal. Or maybe an emulation of the eventide h3000 with the band delays effect. Anyway, just curious what you guys want to see possibly come in future updates. Cheers.
  13. I have this firehawk fx, it was working fine... But suddenly, the master volume knob stopped working. I can change the master volume from the phone using the app but the knob is not working. I need a solution.
  14. Hi, i found a picture of Petruccis preset for axe-fx (see attached file). Now, i have the following questions: How to achieve a similar signal chain in Helix native? What effects does he use? What could be the settings? I hope someone could help me. Thank you and best regards, alemas

    HX EFFECTS FAQ

HX EFFECTS FAQ Ugh, I don't wanna READ. Can't I just watch some videos? Paul Hindmarsh's Intro Video (5:57): Learning 80% of HX Effects in less time than it takes to listen to Never Gonna Give You Up (3:23): FAQs are for unwashed plebeians; can I just have the full manual? HX Effects Cheat Sheet (PDF): https://line6.com/da... - English .pdf HX Effects Owner's Manual (PDF): https://line6.com/da... - English .pdf Is there preset compatibility between Helix and HX Effects? No preset compatibility between HX Effects and Helix Floor/Rack/LT/Native. Is this the new M13 or M9? Not really. HX Effects is much more powerful and flexible (and way deeper!) than M-Class processors. So then it's an effects-only version of Helix? Closer. HX Effects is designed for the guitarist and bassist who embraces traditional amp and pedalboard rigs. What effects does it have? HX Effects has all 117 effects models from Helix. In addition, we've included a Legacy library of 77 effects from M13, M9, M5, DL4, MM4, FM4, and DM4. It does not have any amp or cab blocks; however, it can load impulse responses (IRs) for parallel stage+FOH routings and acoustic guitar body resonance. Aww man, why couldn't you give us just one amp model block? This box ain't for you, my friend. It's for your bandmates who love their real amps and pedals (like many of those who work at Line 6!). Will HX Effects have the new reverbs (and Multi Pass delay) from the Helix 2.50 update? Update it to 2.50 and it will. As 2.50 wasn't finished when the first run of HX Effects was manufactured, initial shipping units may still be at 2.40. Download the latest version of Line 6 Updater here: www.line6.com/downloads How many effects can HX Effects run at once? Up to nine, DSP permitting. Can the effects be in any order? Yes. There's a special Signal Flow menu for moving blocks around and routing them to parallel Path B, but for day-to-day operation, you just plug in and play. Could I throw this in the loop of my Helix to add additional DSP horsepower? I suppose you could, and with a single MIDI cable the presets would sync by default, but you probably won't need to, as the Legacy effects in Helix firmware 2.50 use notably less DSP. Could I throw this in the loop of my Kemper, Fractal, or Atomic modeler to add a ton of new and classic Line 6 effects? Hmmm, That's actually a pretty neat idea. Want a job? Hold up. Six stomp switches, nine blocks. Why the disparity? You can assign multiple blocks to the same switch and even toggle between them. Plus, you don't have to waste a footswitch on any wah, volume pedal, or FX Loop-as-4-Cable Method blocks. So HX Effects supports 4-Cable Method? There are two mono effects loops (or one stereo effects loop) for inserting your favorite pedals anywhere into HX Effects signal flow and/or connecting to your amp(s) via 4CM or 7CM. There are even templates to get you started. How do I swap footswitch assignments? Touch-hold two footswitches and press OK. Footswitch assignments can be made independent of effects order. I see only three edit knobs. Press for more parameters. Touch an effect switch for one second and parameters spill across the switches so you can see them all at once. What about some of the cooler Helix features like snapshots, Pedal Edit mode, and assigning controllers in 3 seconds? Yes. How many presets and snapshots are there? HX Effects has 128 preset locations, each of which has four snapshots. Does HX Effects have true bypass? Yes. Press MODE and TAP to bypass HX Effects completely, either via analog relays or DSP with reverb and delay trails. Does HX Effects have a looper? Yes. The same looper from Helix can be added as one of the nine available effects. Does HX Effects have amp control outputs? Yes. Each of the two expression pedal inputs can be globally switched to act as a dual amp control output. So a total of four amp controls can be accommodated. Or two amp controls and one expression pedal. Or two expression pedals. Or neither, if you're into the whole brevity thing. Can I use HX Effects to control other pedals? Absolutely, as well as Mac/PC/iOS* software over USB. Stomp mode switches or connected expression pedals can send a variety of MIDI messages and selecting a preset or snapshot can send up to six buffered commands. Just like its bigger brothers, HX Effects wants to be the command center of your guitar or bass rig. *iOS control requires the Apple Camera Connection Kit Can I customize the scribble strip labels and LED colors? I suppose since everyone else and their mom is doing it now , yeah. Is there a Mac/PC editor? The same HX Edit application works with Helix, Helix Rack/Control, Helix LT, and HX Effects, but when HX Effects is connected, it appears as just a librarian and IR loader for now. Just update it to version 2.50. We expect to update HX Edit with full editing capabilities for HX Effects later this spring. Does HX Effects have an audio interface? No. It's designed for your pedalboard. It will send and receive MIDI data over USB, however. Can I power HX Effects from my DC pedalboard supply? Line 6 only officially supports operation with the included DC-3G. Using any power supply other than that supplied by Line 6 will void your warranty. Line 6 is not responsible for any damage incurred when using HX Effects with any third-party power supplies. HX Effects requires 2A bare minimum of clean DC. It uses a 2.5mm pin where most others use a 2.1mm pin. What's the meaning of life? Be excellent to each other. San Dimas High School Football rules. Dimensions/weight? Is it smaller than M9? 10.8"w x 7.9"d x 2.8"; 4.75lbs HX Effects is about 1/4" wider than M9 and maybe an inch deeper. It's as small as we could possibly make it. What's the price? HX Effects sells for $599.99 US MAP. When's it shipping? HX Effects is in select North American dealers now; we expect it to appear in Europe and the rest of the world in mid-to-late February. If you snag one now, remember to update it to 2.50! Line 6 is not responsible for any damage incurred when using HX Effects with any third-party power supplies.
  16. Hi fellas 1st post here so please be gentle. I have recently joined a band after a few years out and am using a FHFX. The question I have is, Is there a way to have 2 identical patches but with different volumes that I can put next to each other so I have a rhythm patch and a lead patch? Thanks in advance
  17. We guitarists have grown up with stomp boxes and FX of various types. The oldest among us remember the day when reverb and tremolo were the only thing available. The idea of overdriving an amp was not even dreamed of (I'm admitting my age). When Electric Ladyland came out people had simply never heard sounds like that. Period. No modulation or time distortion. We had absolutely no concept of how they heck they did this. Frankly, for rock musicians at the time the world stopped on a dime. Holy ___! What was that? One can't describe the experience of turning out the lights, stretching out between the stereo speakers and listening for the very first time to And the Gods Made Love - the manual flanging and the Echoplex - nobody had any idea how they did this. After Woodstock I heard about the UniVibe and got one, repairing it over and over until it died. Later, when the very first Tascam Portastudio came out (another stunning advance) I figured out how to gently tweak the speed up and down when recording a second track to achieve the flanging and it was mind-blowing (manually hitting the phase right on a cymbal hit was like a drug). I recorded a track with a plastic recorder (flute), manually bending notes by rolling the finger tips. Flanging that track beat the pants off of the flute part on If Six Was Nine (young musicians need to hear that song). No stomp box could duplicate that. But now with modern gear such as Helix you can time-mod a loop and play on top of it to get the effect live without a stomp box simulation. As for overdrive, in the early 80's I had my 50W Marshall half-stack modded with a master in order to create overdrive at club volumes and when I received my Boogie MkII it was truly fantastic. Today we are used to all this stuff and I would imagine that there are around 500 stomp boxes to choose from. Helix, its predecessors, and its competitors can offer a ton of stomp FX in a single package, plus modeling, which has redefined the world of live and recorded music. Frankly, the idea of paying $1,500 for such a great device is a bargain. A few years back I saw a posting looking for a guitarist that stated that the applicant "must have a real amp". It sounded funny at the time, but that was when I thought that making two trips to haul my gear to a rehearsal was normal. Now, as long as you have a Helix and a FRFR that can push some air, that's all that really matters. It makes me think that I could make a mint by creating a fake Marshall half-stack that weighs 20 pounds and has a shelf for mounting a FRFR inside. I apologize for using a forum for airing such thoughts, but young musicians are used to being in a world of great FX and in which guitarists didn't grow up learning the licks from Gimme Shelter and thinking they were guitar heroes, but learning the licks of Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. (There are way too many gunslingers these days and too few artists.) Perhaps the budding guitar gods of today might not realize that musicians born before 1957 were here when there was not anything whatsoever orbiting the earth but the moon, when the coolest gizmo in town was a 2.5 inch square portable AM radio with a wrist strap, and where the only sound you could get from an amp was a clean one with no breakup whatsoever. The Helix, along with its competitors, is a godsend and it's nice to be living in a world where older musicians do not have to retire simply because their backs are shot from years of loading and unloading a a couple of hundred pounds of gear three to five times a week. (The Boogie combo was heavy enough, not to mention the Marshall, plus my rack, Strat and Paul.) A Helix, a L3t and a guitar case will do it for me, all on one lightweight hand truck – plus it keeps me in the game.
  18. Hi Guys, Just wondering.. Does anyone have any advanced settings advice on what deep tweaks have worked for them with the deep effects parameters on the M20d regarding the reverbs and delays, and have made their effects sparkle a lot more in a live situation? The standard fx sound ok, not great though to my ears. Just wondered. We're a 3-piece live cover/pub band with 3 vocalists. Thanks very much.
  19. Hi there, Does anybody know what kind of DAC and/or amp is behind the headphone out jack on the Firehawk FX? When I connect the Firehawk to my computer via USB and play AIFF for FLAC files from iTunes, the music has much more clarity, instrument separation, and clean power than just plugging headphones straight into my iMac headphone jack. Jamming with my favorite songs is a very high sound quality experience. I use Sennheiser HD598 headphones, so that helps. Because the result it similar to using a dedicated USB DAC/headphone amp combo, I just wondered what's in the Firehawk that makes it sound so good. Anybody know? Or is that a trade secret?
  20. Does anybody could give me an piece of advice for a signalchain that effects that the sound with POD and 4CM is the same like the sound when I plug the guitar straight into the amp? Actually I'm trying with that chain. Noise Gate (Decay-20/th-35) ->Studio EQ (+12db Gain) -> Fx-Loop (0db/0db/100%) -> Mixer (Pan to center, B is muted and A at 0 db) Though the sound level is nearly perfect, I miss a little bass and dynamics. Any ideas? Greetz
  21. I couldn't find any other topics about this so I figured I'd make a new post. Does anyone know if there's a way to control the Firehawk FX pedal board with a Windows laptop like the iOS app does? I love the iOS app but I'd prefer it if I could make the screen bigger like my laptop's screen.
  22. Firehawk Effects Blocks Basics In the Firehawk Remote editor, there are 12 effects blocks that you can turn on and off, and assign different models and parameters to. Some of them can be dragged to different locations, some can't. Of these twelve blocks, only five of them can be assigned as: · Drives and Dynamics · Mods · Delays · Filters, Synths and Pitch A quick way to tell which three can be assigned these effects types is that they have a border around them: Notice Stomp, Synth and Mod all are bordered. However, Reverb is selected, so its border is brighter. Here's how to change the effect type of those three blocks: 1. Select one of the three blocks by touching it. In this example, we'll select Stomp. 2. The effect will then show the effect type (in this case, "stomp"), the effect name ("Facial Fuzz"), and a power button to the right to turn the effect on or off. Touch the effect type to change it. 3. You'll then see a "Type" button. Touch it. 4. The block types then appear. Choose one. 5. The block has been changed. There is no restriction on the number of similar effect types or effects assigned to these three blocks. Three stomps, each with a Fuzz Pi on it? Go for it! Just don't forget to save your tone (cloud icon, then disc icon).
  23. I have a Spider IV 120 and a FBV Shortboard MKII. The FBV is connected to my computer via USB and I'm using the Line 6 FBV Control software. I want to assign the built in expression pedal that is typically controlling volume on my Spider or the external expression pedal "PEDAL 2" to whatever it is that controls the "FX3" "Mix" parameter on the Spider. In other words, I want to control the level of the mix parameter on the delay effect via one of those continuous controllers. I see things in the list like "002 - Breath Control" and "080 General Control 8", but which one of those things controls that delay mix parameter, and where do I look that up for the Spider IV 120? See attached screenshot. Thanks in advance for any help you offer!
  24. I was able to do this in the past, but have obviously forgotten some key element. I have a straight-through stomp-box configuration with no amp models. The signal chain is: Tube Compressor -> Conductor -> Chorus -> Distortion (several) I've had this in place for a while, but noticed that while I can activate the Conductor using the toe switch, moving the pedal does not do anything. This may have been something new in firmware -- I've updated that more recently than this patch. The L6 factory presets still work fine with the pedal and effect. Any help on what I may have done wrong is appreciated. The Conductor is set at 100% mix and the controller uses the toe switch to activate and the pedal position to control the effect 0-100%. Thanks!
  25. This may sound like a silly quiestion to the die hard Line 6'ers, but will any of the amp models or fx ever be updated in the Amplifi FX100? Or are they permanently implanted on a chip. Just wonder if I need to start thinking about upgrading to the Firehawk since it has the HD line of fx.
