  1. Hey all, I have had my Helix for about two months and have just been playing it through an aux chord hooked up to my old guitar amplifier. I would like to get a much better sound because I feel like the aux chord + cheap guitar amp isnt doing it. I talked to one guy that played his Helix directly through a PA. What do you all think? What can I play my helix through that will give me a good sound? Any specific suggestions? Thanks!
  2. Hi Folks. My first post here. I have been researching the Helix as well as the AX8. I am 32, been playing tube amps for 12 years now. I have a lollipop pedal board because I am too cheap to overpay the ridiculous pedal train asking price. I find that no matter what tube amp i have(I've had a lot) there are always limitations with how i channel switch and use effects. I am in a gigging modern high gain metal/rock band and I am looking to simplify my rig. Currently, I am running this setup: Guitar=>pedal board(tuner, decimator, overdrive, flashback delay)=> laney ironheart=>mesa cab. What i am trying to understand, is whether I can replace my current rig with this: Guitar=>Helix=>poweramp=>mesa cab. My BIGGEST concern, is TONE. I want that great tube tone I've gotten out of my amps. I don't want the positive grid bias sound or the pod sound. I don't see many people using the Helix as their sole guitar tone source(aka no tube amp). Before I buy a Helix, should I feel confident in the setup I am proposing and the sound I am hoping to capture? Are there any limitations that I should be aware of? What would be a good power amp for this rig? Thanks much for any insight you can provide me. Also, here is my band to represent the tone I am going for. [youtubevid} [endyoutubevid]
  3. Hey guys, I am a bass player looking for a really good multiefect and I am a big fan of line6s PODs. Especially the hd500. Now, I didn't tried it out but I heard that the hd 500 is equally good for the bass and the guitar and has all sords of efects and bunch of amps is that true? I am not very in to it so that why I am asking. Also, I have a really good chance to buy the POD 500x, but I don't know is it that good for the bass as the guitar. Because I want to use it for my bass guitar, does it have a bunch of efects and amps? I saw that the POD pro has only one amp for the bass I don't know is it with the hd500x the same? Anyway pls help me :)
  4. Hi, is there somebody who uses internal mic for recoding from guitar cabinet/speaker? I have new notebook and looking for USB soundcard + microphone so there is question, that Sonic Port VX is good "all-in-one" device for this?
  5. Hello everyone, First time poster. I have an Orange dark terror amp head that I use with a rockcrusher recording load box/attenuator/cabinet emulator to connect to the Helix. I've just moved from a flat with three floors of neighbours above me to a house with a spacious attic room that has become my home studio. I was operating a silent recording setup in the flat but I now want to start using some form of speaker. I'm leaning towards a FRFR speaker (specifically this http://www.andertons.co.uk/speaker-cabinets/pid35447/cid690/laney-iron-heart-irtx-powered-guitar-expansion-cab.asp ) because I figure I might be able to use it with my roland TD30k drumkit as well (although that isn't a priority.) I have enough to buy one speaker but if needed I may invest in two at some point in the future. I mainly want to know whether it's possible to generate feedback from the helix amp and cab models and/or routing the orange head and rockcrusher through the Helix and using a FRFR speaker. I ask because I saw this video of a Helix and cabinet demo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IuX5L8DjtM. The guy definitely seems to be getting some feedback together and having been recording silently for the last 3 years I want to start squealing and howling again. I have two questions as I've never used a FRFR speaker before. I connect the rockcrusher to the helix and use the orange head as an insert block separate from any Helix amp and cab models and FX, sometimes in a mono serial routing and sometimes in a stereo parallel routing as two different amp and cab emulations panned left and right, and sent from the XLR outs direct to my mixer. As such having the ability to connect a stereo signal to the FRFR speaker is important to me but not necessarily outputting a stereo image to my ears (if that makes sense) ie a left and right FRFR speaker. So could I send a stereo signal from the Helix 1/4 inch outs to the stereo FX loop on the FRFR? I don't forsee using the FRFR in any part of the recording as yet (mainly due to not quite understanding how or why I would in preferance to the way I record at the moment eg using the two Helix XLR outs to connect to two channels on my mixer) and just using the speaker for monitoring the helix. Does that mean I have to complete the FX loop ie send a stereo signal back to the helix from the FRFR? I mean as I understand it feedback is the phenomenon of soundwaves from the speaker vibrating the guitar strings and being picked up by the guitar pickups, generating noise through the amp and manifesting as soundwaves from the speaker and then repeating that sequence over and over. 2nd question: is it physically possible to generate feedback using a FRFR speaker and will it damage any of the components in my theoritical rig of guitar > Helix > Orange amp > Rockcrusher > Helix > FRFR speaker and then using the Helix XLR outs to send to my mixer. Apologies if any of these questions seem simple or strange.
  6. Is it possible to set the Guitar Thru Out in the back of the Helix Rack to send the tone from the Variax? I've got an external tuner that I like and can't figure out how send the Variax tone to it when I use the digital cable. It works like normal when I use a ¼ inch cable but then I don't get the automatic variax switching. How can I send the tone? Also, all of my effects loops are full...
  7. I was hoping someone, possibly at line 6, could tell me which specific models/year were used when profiling the amps/pedals/etc. I have been comparing the modeling to the originals that I own and so far most have been incredibly accurate. But, as an example, the rat model could be one of multiple incarnations. And, as an example, with the amps what model of twin did you use? Tweed, black face, silver face, reissue?
  8. Metallica Sad but true Cover with backing tracks Sad but true, next track I chose to cover from Black Album. Spent some time to improve guitar tone from the previous video. Using Line 6 Spider IV and KB37 for guitar recording. Please share your feedback. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/haroon.ahmad.777

    HD500x cabs

Line 6, the cabs on the HD are horrendous, I'm sorry but I can't stress it enough. The only cab I am pretty content with is the XXX cab and the Uber cab. With the XXX it has a very good translation to a live monitor wedge. It's also easier to notch out the low end on it using EQ where I need to than to low shelf the other ones (doesn't work well at all). Please. Please please, I am begging you, figure out what's going on with these cabs. There has to be some update we can do. The remastered JCM 800 sounded a great deal better. Sounded raw, like a real amp. I'm literally at the point I'm going to have to add a laptop to my pedalboard with Poulin LeCab on it just to fix what I really don't feel i should have to fix. Just remember what I'm saying here. The cabs are for the most part useable in a quiet format, but once turned up it's pretty frustrating that the treadplate cab is probably what I would vote the lousiest cab in the entire collect. Everything about it is shrill and impossible to work with at stage volumes. YES I TWEAK AT VOLUME. I spend alot of time with my monitor wedge in my face.
  14. I tried my best to get a Line 6 Helix - Metal video up as soon as possible so people can know what to expect and how it performs in a studio setting. Here's what I came up with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVRS-Z9Eb34 I used the stock noise gate, screamer 808 and ANGL Meteor with a downloaded Impulse Response (Engl Special Edition) from here (http://www.freemusiciansresource.com/VST-detail/huge-collection-of-metal-cabinet-impulses/) (follow the relink in the article comments). I used an LTD Vampire Biotech M guitar with an EMG 81 bridge pickup Settings are: Noise Gate: Threshold -30db, Decay 188ms, Level 0.0db Screamer 808: Gain 2.6, Tone 0.0, Level 6.7 Amp: Drive 9.1, Bass 4.8, Mid 7.1, Treble 5.2. 15. Hey! I've been using my POD for quite a while now but i'd like to share one of my presets with you guys. Many of my subscribers ask me what settings/gear i use, and when i tell them; they're often surprised when they hear line 6. The majority of people think line 6 amps or models aren't able to produce a rich - realistic tone, but when recorded with optimal setting etc.. the result is epically awesome! I'll attach a link of a certain video where i used a backing track, so all the guitarwork you hear (except bass) is all produced by the POD UX1, same goes for my setting in Podfarm. Thanks to Line 6 for creating this awesome product for people who want to express their creativity and enjoy their hobby but live in an appartement with lousy neighbours! - Ben Video:
  16. Hello Everyone, Hopefully this hasn't been answered many times, so I apologize if it has... I own the POD HD500X and recently bought a new guitar (ES-339). I started messing around with running a vocal mic and the guitar into the POD and splitting channels. The results are good, but there are some songs that the lack of DSP on the guitar side has me itching for a little better quality that I'd normally get if the other channel's effects weren't being used for vocals. So here's my question: After demo'ing a BOSS VE-20 Vocal Effects pedal, I was pretty impressed with the quality. I've decided to buy it and the only thing I have left to consider is how to set it up with my POD. I'm just a bedroom musician and I use my POD as the audio interface for direct recording into my DAW. SO... I'm wondering will the AUX or CD input on the POD be a good/very good way to mix in a vocal effects pedal or will I be much better off buying another audio interface and plugging the POD and the Vocal pedal into it? I'd like to save some money and skip buying another interface, but it is important to me that I be able to do vocals and guitar at the same time. Most nights practicing now are spent playing along with a song on YouTube and singing and playing along with it. I have a blast doing that and I'm just hoping to get the best quality possible. If anyone could help answer this question I'd be extremely grateful. The difference here being an extra $150-400 out of my pocket for an audio interface I may not need. So here's a pre-thanks for taking the time to read and answer. :)
  17. first off i apologize in advance if this is not allowed. i did google, "posting for sale items in line 6 forums" which led me to these posts saying it was kool: http://line6.com/support/topic/13072-is-it-ok-to-post-items-for-sale-on-these-forums/ Soooooooooooooo: im selling a wide range of musical and computer items on craigslist: here's the links to them: http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5093259514.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5092533634.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5099325165.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5095991054.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5096013396.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5099299581.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5099277089.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5099259137.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/mob/5092433308.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/sop/5101647990.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/sop/5101747736.html
  18. Check out my first parts guitar that I've put together. I've loved this whole process. Mighty mite neck. I dunno what kind of body. (Bought in the used section of my local music store.) Seymour Duncan JB and Jazz Fender locking machine heads. Here is a quick video before I installed the neck pickup. https://youtu.be/SHAtrXkm9JM
  19. I just plugged my bass guitar into the Line 6 Pocket Pod 2.0. I get a lot of noise and not a lot of bass. I've looked through the settings too. Am I not doing something right?
  20. I want to buy the system to use as is for making documentaries, but would like to use it for live performance with an electric guita conected to it. Would the above mentioned system work with a guitar? Would the V35-BP bodypack work with an electric guitar?
  21. Hey guys, For many months I have been practicing and recording using my Pod hd500 (Firmware 2.10) and i've tried many Custom tone high gain presets like ENGL,Treadplate and more but All of them sound very harsh and dirty without any "body", the opposite of a thick and warm tone. Each preset that I downloaded from custom tone sounds very bad. Now I have just installed 2.0 (Rollback) and all those high gain tones which sounded very bad and harsh now sound excellent and very thick!.I'm a little confused, Perhaps the presets were intended to be used in the firmware 2.0?. Anyway they sound 100% different, now i am very happy! My recordings sound very good and clear! I'm in love with my pod again. The only thing that I miss the last firmware are the SOLDANO models... There is a problem with my pod? Any one of you has the same problem? What can i do? My Gear: Schecter hellraiser c1 fr ---------> Pod HD500--------> Shure Shr840 Headphones/M-audio BX8D2 Studio monitors Pod settings: -Studio/Direct. Thank you for read!

  23. So I just bought studio ux1 yesterday and downloaded POD Farm 2 after long time of researching (seems like it isn't be working on yosemite but I managed to download it), Line 6 Monkey, and license manager. The problem is not matter how I set the settings on the computer itself's or POD farm 2, guitar and microphone won't sound yet they are plugged in. For guitar, I thought I'll just have to plug it in to ux1 and open POD farm 2 for it to work, right? For microphone I really don't have a clue, please help me :( Also I can't download GearBox, is that a long term problem for mac yosemite already?
  24. I'm very happy with the way the HD 5150 amp has turned out. It's my favorite amp model on my Peavey Vypyr II amp, and it's now probably going to be my favorite on my HD500X. Having said that, it definitely needs some tweaks and adjustments to get a usable sound. To my ears, the default settings have way too much mosquito buzz and a little too much low end, but to be honest, the exact same is true with the 5150 model on my Vypyr amp, so I believe that those are just characteristics of the actual amp (but I've not played on a real 5150, so my experience is limited to modelers). I purposely recorded this clip with the default settings of the amp model to give an idea of the sound without any adjustments. The only exceptions are that I increased the mids about 12%, I added plate reverb and I added tape echo. Also, I did not add drums or bass when recording to let the guitar be fully heard. So, all of the items that to me need tweaked are still present in this clip, so you'll hear too much buzzyness. But again, this is purposely to give a demo of the raw sound of the amp without much tweaking. I plan on doing an A/B comparison with my Vypyr 5150 settings, which I have set the way I like, to get this more in line with that. Lowering the gain, lowering the presence, reducing the bass and treble a little, and a few other things should get this amp model sounding pretty good. http://www.mediafire.com/listen/2cxbx2idr74x726/PVPanamaAmpModel.mp3 Edit: I also meant to say that for this clip, I did not change the input settings to guitar/variax instead of guitar/same, so changing that may help, too.
