  1. Hi everyone! I just bought a line 6 POD HD500X pedal and I've read some posts from this forum (http://line6.com/support/topic/1672-can-i-utilize-a-usb-3-cable-for-my-pod-x3/ http://line6.com/support/topic/8367-cant-install-drivers-for-pod-hd500x/) I actually have got the same problems as Miguel Marquez in the second post, but it has passed already a year and the thread is not answered. Ok, I only have 1 computer, and the problem (I think) is that all my USB ports are 3.0, but i would like to see what do you guys think, cause probably I may be wrong.
  2. I really enjoy building great, weird and huge sounds using my pod hd500 and m5, but I feel like I am not as ‘free’, creatively speaking, as I’d like to be. I love the variety of sounds that fx modelers offer, but amp-wise, I mostly use just 3 sounds; clean, crunch and high-gain and I am happy with the settings I have for the amp models right now. However, the most important part of my sound comes from effects, using big reverbs, delays and often strange combinations of filters and modulation. These, I want to dial in fast. In this regard, I feel that there are two factors that sort of hold me back. Firstly, for every quick idea for a new sound, I have to spend some time getting the amp model right, either by copying an existing preset, or building a new amp, which holds me back from focusing on the core of my sound which, for me personally, are the effects. A second factor holding me back is the fact that as I set a new effect, all standard settings are used, so I cannot have my personal settings for certain effects that I often use. I would like to be able to call up effects on the fly as I like them. Basically, how I imagine it, my perfect setup would involve a pedalboard that is way too big, but with effects at my disposal, whenever I feel like using them. I am asking you for your advice on how to achieve the flexibility I am looking, by using the presets in a different manner, by using the fx-loop differently, by adding an m13, or some other advice that might change the paradigm through which I look at building sounds. My set-up: jtv59 -> pod hd500 -> mackie th12 (btw: I recently started using the pod hd edit software on my macbook, which does deliver a large part of the flexibility I am looking for) Thanks
  3. Hey guys, I don't know if this subject has been discussed before, but I just wanted to know how many of you have tried recording both with the Pod and with an external sound card. Is there any big difference in the audio quality? Does it worth the money if I invest 170 euros for a decent sound card such as the scarlett 2i4? Thanks in advance.
  4. I just purchased this new line 6 pod and i would love to use it but every time i connect it to my computer and turn it on it doesnt install the driver or it will say no driver help ive downloaded the line 6 monkey and it isnt detecting it help please
  5. I'm using my POD HD Pro for live but when switching tones there is too big of a delay when I stomp on the fbv express mkii.... (doesn't sound natural.. takes too long to switch tones) Is there anyway to fix this?
  6. I plugged my POD HD Pro in today and noticed I had updates to my driver and flash memory. It has been about a month since I updated so I was able to do the Driver update with out any issues. The flash memory I wish I could say the same. The first update said it timed out. The second one crashed my computer and some how my POD. Now when I turn the POD on it is frozen on one of my presets and I am getting no sound from my cab. The flash memory update continues not to work either so I guess what I'm asking is what the hell do I do now? For the record my driver is 4.2.7.1 and my flash memory reads as "unknown". I would appreciate any help here. Thanks.
  7. Hey guys, For many months I have been practicing and recording using my Pod hd500 (Firmware 2.10) and i've tried many Custom tone high gain presets like ENGL,Treadplate and more but All of them sound very harsh and dirty without any "body", the opposite of a thick and warm tone. Each preset that I downloaded from custom tone sounds very bad. Now I have just installed 2.0 (Rollback) and all those high gain tones which sounded very bad and harsh now sound excellent and very thick!.I'm a little confused, Perhaps the presets were intended to be used in the firmware 2.0?. Anyway they sound 100% different, now i am very happy! My recordings sound very good and clear! I'm in love with my pod again. The only thing that I miss the last firmware are the SOLDANO models... There is a problem with my pod? Any one of you has the same problem? What can i do? My Gear: Schecter hellraiser c1 fr ---------> Pod HD500--------> Shure Shr840 Headphones/M-audio BX8D2 Studio monitors Pod settings: -Studio/Direct. Thank you for read!
  8. Hello all, I am considering purchasing the model pack expansion for the HD500x but have a couple of questions. I have an HD500x and use it regularly for gigs, recording, rehearsals etc. So much so that I'm going to be buying a second hd500x as a backup. I want to have matching presets on both units so it's a seemless switch if something does happen. If I buy the model pack(s) for the HD500X is this a license for only one unit? Or is it good for multiple HD500X's for the same registered user? Thanks for any info, advice, etc!
  9. They appear on my pod but not in hd pro x edit. Help?
  10. I am running a JTV-59 through a Yamaha THR 10C into an iMac via USB or just jamming with headphones plugged into the THR. The magnetic pickups sound great with the amp sims built into the THR. In fact, I'd say the tube amp sims in the THR are some of the best hardware or software (external device or computer plugins) I have come across so far. Granted, I don't have an Ax FX or Kemper Profiler. But when I switch over to the Variax models with the same amp sims (both THR and Guitar Rig), it just doesn't sound that great. The mags sound much better. Then I finally got around to turning the THR to the "FLAT" setting where no amp sim is applied to the signal. I only had a light hall reverb on. When I started going through the models I was blown away! Especially by the SEMI, JAZZBOX, and ROCKABILLY models. To me they sound so much better without an amp sim coloring their sound, even when the amp sim is set to low-gain, clean tones. The sound is more expressive and sounds less "gimmicky". I am starting to have more respect for what Line 6 has accomplished here. I am not disappointed at all because I really like to play with very clean tones, and no distortion. I know this probably has a lot to do with the preference of my ears. I'm just very puzzled why there would be such a difference between mags and Variax models when using amp sims. Do we get better results using simulated instrument and real amp, or amp sim and real mags, but things start to break down with simulated guitar AND simulated amp?
  11. I have a pod hd pro and i downloaded the new metal hd pack today and basically i was trying out the new amps and when ever i put an EQ in the post area it goes all crackly sounding and lollipop. anyone know what this is?
  12. So the PODs LED indicators for clip and signal are always on, even with no instruments or anything attached. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I've cycled through all of my patches and have used clean slates, but nothing seems to get those lights to stop coming on.
  13. Hello, I am looking into purchasing a POD HD Desktop along with a short-board. My debate is over getting the short-board mkii or the original. I was wondering the different ways of button use. First off, how to you change from "ABCD" mode to "FS1-8" mode? Second, is there a way to set the function 2 button on the short-board to do this for you?
  14. So I use an m-audio midiport to change my pod's patches during live shows. However when a patch changes, there is a small interruption of sound (for about half a second) which sounds bad in the mix... Is there a way to make the change faster? If not, I basicly change between rythm and lead patches, so can I change some parameters of the patch (like turning pedals on/off. or amp settings) using MIDI signals? I just want to make our live sound as perfect as it can get...
  15. There I was, recording my little heart out and I needed som wah-wah. As per usual, HD edit crashed (as it always does when using the on board expression pedal) I didn't want to go through the process of shutting down my DAW so I hit the "ok" button knowing that this will erase all of my patches except the one that I am using at the moment. I figured that I would stay in my creative flow and do the whole shutting down and rebooting process after I finished recording this one little passage. The genius that I am, I decided to try something new. I hit the send All button on the HD edit. AAAAUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH! ALL OF MY PATCHES ARE GONE! Why did I do that! And NO! I didn't have a back up! Hours of tweaking gone! But you know what? This is exactly what I needed! I reflashed the POD and got the factory bundle reinstalled. I basically have a brand new pod to play with but this time around I have a lot of experience behind me. I'm not trying to figure out how the POD works. I can just dive in and start creating patches that make sense and have them in an order that makes sense. Save my bundles and set lists in a manner that makes sense! Sure, I have lost some presets that I really liked. Presets that took me a long time to dial in. But a lot of that time was spent figuring out the difference between eq's and the different modulation types, mic options, DEP stuff and so on. I am going from "I wonder what will happen if....", to "I know what will happen when..." So recreating my lost patches has been pretty simple so far. I had run so deep down the POD rabbit hole, that it is oddly refreshing and exciting to have to start over. And here is something that I NEVER thought would be possible; a lot of the factory presets sound pretty darn good to me! I know that is crazy talk but it's true! Yes there is some stuff that is just plain goofy (Mysterious Wei comes to mind) but I am finding that I like quite a few of the factory offerings. Where as before, I had written them all off as garbage. So that is my tale of disaster and the Lotus flower that has risen from the ashes! Pretty cool in my mind! But seriously Line 6, you gotta do something about the crashing HD Edit expression pedal issue! It is REALLY ANOYING!
  16. Global EQ preset onoff? Looking forward to the upcoming global EQ. Will it be possible to have it on or off per preset? Reason, now I use an external EQ in the loop used only for my acoustic guitar. Regards Lennart
  17. I bought my pod hd pro X from thomann 2 months ago and it was just fine, untill the last few weeks. Randomly, while I use the Pod as a soundcard for my Windows PC the Pod doesn's seemsto respond to the window's sound while my guitar still sounds Ok on the monitors. This will continue to happen until I restart. Its really, REALLY annoying! I guess it's a windows issue but i don't know how to fix it. Help??
  18. So I just got the FBV Shortboard MkII a couple of days ago and I've figured most of it out but I can not for the life of me figure how to get the tap tempo to work with a delay that I have on my Pod Hd Pro X. I've figured out how to assign certain effects to my shortboard but I just can't get the tap tempo to work. Thanks in advance for anyones help!
  19. Hello everyone I purchased a line 6 pod hd pro about a week ago and I love the tones you can get out of it the only problem is that when it's connected to my computer via usb it gives me this really annoying noise every 3 minutes or so. I attached a file of the clean tone so you can hear how it sounds. Did anyone have this problem, or does anyone have an idea on how to fix this? Cheers! line6problem.mp3
  20. Has anyone used a POD HD pro (Or pro X) for a live bass rig? Did it work out? I know I can get an awesome bass tone for recording with it, but does that translate over in the live setting with a venue sound system in your experiences? When I used it at my last show ( I play lead guitar normally) I had a very thin and bassless tone, but I think that was a few too many eqs that caused that.
Merci d'avance
  22. Hello friends! I need to transfer all my settings from HD500 to HD PRO There is some kind of help? I'll also need to do the same from HD PRO to HD PRO X Thank you!
  23. I am also using a fbv express pedal board. I am trying to figure out how I can go from a patch with a delay to a (lets say) a distortion with the delay ringing out and not just cutting off when I switch patches. Can this be done? Please help. Thanks.
  24. Hello peoples of the Line 6 forum, I have some questions about the MIC input/output and routing on the HD500X: Is it possible to route the signal from the Mic Input to one of the Balanced Outputs, while simultaneously running the Instrument Input to one of the Unbalanced (1/4") outputs, so that when I play gigs I can route my mic through the pedal and give the FOH guy the Mic output separately from the instrument output (which I would give him from the DI in my amp, further down the signal chain, due to using more effects)? They key thing is I'm curious about keeping the instrument and mic outputs separate, so the channels can stay discrete on the FOH mixing board. Related to that, when using the Vocoder, will the effected sound pass through both the instrument and Mic outputs, or just one or the other? I.e. if running my instr and mic through the HD500X as separate channels (assuming that can be done), when I turn on the vocoder, will I hear the output through my instrument output only, the Mic/PA output only, or both? Finally, does anyone know if the HD500X will have additional effects/packages that can be applied to it? I'm a bassist, and it's very light on bass-specific stuff. I've always had an issue with buying pedalboards because they don't seem really futureproof sometimes. It would be nice if this platform will be somewhat expandable. Thank you!
  25. Hello all, I am the owner of a new JTV69S in shoreline gold-very happy with it. However I cannot get it to show in Workbench HD, it appears to see the guitar, then starts to load the presets and after the first one it immediately gives the error as shown in the attached picture: One or more presets failed to load from the guitar. (Code 8000000a) Operation timed out. Curiously Workbench also shows it as a JTV59 which it isn't. I am connecting via the the supplied USB interface and both lights are on green, using the latest version of all relevant software. Guitar shows up in L6 Monkey just as "Tyler Variax" and is on the latest V2 HD firmware. Using an i5 iMac with OSX Mavericks loaded 10.9.1. The guitar itself seems to work fine on its own. Any clues? Thanks Pete
