  1. How do I get my sound to come out of my computer speakers? I have my POD HD500 plugged in to my computer through USB and through one of the outputs (one end is an instrument cable for the pod, and the other end is a headphone/aux cable for the computer). I've tried messing with the sound settings on my computer, but I don't hear anything when I play. I've seen this done before, so I know it's possible. I don't even think I need a USB for it, but I've tried it without one as well. Please help.
  2. Hi everyone! I just bought a line 6 POD HD500X pedal and I've read some posts from this forum (http://line6.com/support/topic/1672-can-i-utilize-a-usb-3-cable-for-my-pod-x3/ http://line6.com/support/topic/8367-cant-install-drivers-for-pod-hd500x/) I actually have got the same problems as Miguel Marquez in the second post, but it has passed already a year and the thread is not answered. Ok, I only have 1 computer, and the problem (I think) is that all my USB ports are 3.0, but i would like to see what do you guys think, cause probably I may be wrong.
  3. Hi Guys, Just wanted to know if there was a good way of connecting a POD HD500 with a RC 300 (or for that matter any external looper) and a DT 25. At the moment I have my JTV 89f going into my POD HD500 then the out from POD going into the instrument in of Boss RC 300 and the Out from Boss going into my DT 25. The problem with this setup is that I cant control the DT 25 from my pod this way. I want to be able to use the looper with the POD and still be able to use the DT amp from the POD patches. Is that possible?
  4. I have been using my HD500 through USB with my old Macbook Pro to control patch changes via MIDI for a couple of years now and it has worked great. I use Digital Performer for my DAW. I recently purchased a new Macbook Air running OSX Mavericks ver. 10.9.4 and the new Macbook doesn't recognise the HD500 as a MIDI devise in Audio MIDI Setup. I have the latest driver 7.3.6, from Line6 installed. The HD500 has all the latest updated software thru Monkey. The Macbook Air does recognize the HD500 as an audio devise and I can get sound to and from the HD500. They say that the driver makes it so you can use MIDI over the USB connection. Is there something I'm missing in the setup?
  5. I own a POD HD500 and use it for church performance. Since I lead worship near the pastor's podium, the HD500 is just too large for me to keep up front where I can change it, so I've just been using one setting at all times and using a wireless system. I purchase an FBV Express MKII because I thought I read that it was compatible with the HD500, however, before it arrived at my doorstep I realized that it in fact was NOT compatible. I've seen many posts about using the HD500 as a MIDI controller to control other things, but I haven't seen anything concerning using another MIDI device to control the HD500. Is it possible to control it using another MIDI device? If so, any recommendations on a small MIDI footswitch with expression pedal? The FBV Express MKII would have been the perfect size if it had been compatible, but most of the MIDI controllers I see with expression pedals are as large or larger than my POD. Thanks for your time!
  6. Holy crap! Just got my Trio tonight and straight out of the box it is the most fun pedal I have ever owned. Easy to setup and use, I got the extra 3 button switch to go with it. I set up a patch with my guitar in channel A and the FX loop in channel B feeding the Trio. Dummy plug in the Trio amp output and feed the Trio mixer output back into channel B. (that is only the drums and bass) Put a reverb after the bass and drums and center the mixer block. It sounds fantastic! Only through headphones so far but I am stoked. Played a funky chord sequence and it picked it up perfectly. Sweep through the different styles and genres and get things I wouldn't have thought of on my own, all synced perfectly. Changes tempo no problem. This is going to take my practice, playing and song writing to a whole new level... 7. Is there a way to set up the wah pedal on the pod HD500 to "switch" like a morley wah? i.e. toe up equals off, slight toe down movement turns it on then full sweep from the "on" point. Thanks!
  8. Hello, i have a problem with dry signal recording with podhd500. I use podhd500 as audio interface, i record my dry guitar tone by disable all processes in podhd500 and by switch to tunner mode. After hear 2 sound demo, i find that dry tone by "tunner mode" sound more cleaner than by "disable all processes". I wonder which is really dry signal... Or anyone can show me a good way to record dry signal with podhd500 as audio interface?
  9. My HD500 is connected to a PA system (with power amplification) via XLR cables, and the other day, the HD500 failed to put create an output signal. The only difference I saw between the time it was working and now is that both of the EXP LED's are lit next to the pedal instead of just one. Pressing on the pedal to try to alternate EXP modes does nothing. I would greatly appreciate any help! Thank you, Jon
  10. Anyone remember or know what the default setting for the HD500 global eq was? I should've made a note of it before I started changing it, lol. No real big deal really but it would be nice to know what it was. I suppose a global reset would bring it back though. Thanks for any help!
  11. I love being able to control HD500 parameters with my Variax tone and volume knob and look forward to doing it with Helix too. What I really want is to be able to control the Variax tone, volume and even tunings, models and pickups with the POD or Helix either with the expression pedal or with a foot switch. Using the exp pedal to control guitar volume has a totally different effect than changing amp volume or drive but for me its a PITA to get it consistently right. And being able to hit a FS to change tuning and guitar model or pickup would be amazing! http://line6.ideasca...508?submitted=1 Vote it up!
  12. Hi all, I have tried a number of things to get a looper with something longer than 24 seconds, into the framework with my POD HD 500. I have tried running my DT Jam Man Solo from the FX out, running the output from the pedal back to the FX Return on the pedal but the looper never seems to get the signal. Since I am trying this with headphones and not an amp, I may be making it more problematic. Will this only work with the FX send/return on the back of an amp? or is there some work-around I may be missing?
  13. Should I be able to use just one midi cable going from the HD500 "midi out" to the DT50 "midi in" to send a signal to the DT in order to turn on and off the DT's midi options such as the boost, change channel, etc.?
  14. Has anyone directly compared using the HD500 or HD500X with the ALTO TS110A with the YAMAHA DBR10? And has anyone compared either of those speaker options with using the HD500 or HD500x with the Line 6 L2M? If so - what were your views - how did they compare? Are the more expensive Yamaha and Line 6 speakers worth the extra? Thanks.
  15. FW 2.62 should be transparent and not affect any existing patches and from what I have read on the forums pretty much everyone who has upgraded have reported no difference, however, myself and one other user did notice a difference in tone on our HD500 units when playing back our existing patches, specifically, the tone was less treble-y/harsh sounding and had more bottom end and warmth. I am interested to hear from anyone else with an HD500 that has upgraded to v2.62 and also noticed that their existing patches or the overall tone of the unit has then changed. So has this happened to you? If so, then please just let me know what the change was that you noticed, however subtle, and if using 1/4" or XLR outputs whether it was affected by GLOBAL EQ at default levels being ON or OFF, and also what setup you were using at the time? My setup: JTV59 > VDI > HD500 > L6 Link > L2m I am expecting this to be an empty thread, but if others have had the same issue, then hopefully we can perhaps determine some common factors and maybe even determine the cause. Thanks in advance.
  16. I tried to set up my JTV TMOD-5 (neck pickup) model to be similar to my Fender 60's Player Tele neck pickup. I had my JTV connected to my HD500 with VDI and my Tele connected via 1/4" Guitar In. The HD500 connected to my PC via USB and Windows HD running. I had L mono out going to a mixing desk connected to a reference amp connected to Tannoy Reveal monitors. I just wanted to get the model strings balanced and sounding similar to the real thing - I didn't think I could get them to sound identical, just similar. So I was just using the same CLEAN sounding amp model patch in the HD500 for the comparison. Both guitars had Volume and Tone controls on Max. First off, I was surprised by how different they both sounded - the Fender Tele with rich warm notes on the 3 low strings and treble attack on the high strings but the JTV model just had high treble attack across all strings. So I looked at the GUITAR-IN-Z setting and it was set to AUTO. So I tried removing the fx blocks before the amp in the patch and when I was left just with the amp, I was getting a brighter sound but still nowhere near as bright as the JTV model. So I tried manually setting the GUITAR-IN-Z value and even with it on the highest level of 3.5M the Fender Tele did not sound quite as bright as the JTV model. It was getting closer but still far enough apart to easily be able to tell the difference. Nothing more I could do to adjust the Fender Tele tone, so I looked at options for the JTV model, and the only things available in Workbench HD are the Volume pot resistance value and the Tone pot resistance and knob position. As I always have my Tone on max, the Tone pot value was not going to be of any use, unless I decided to save a lower Tone knob position with the model. This prompted me to ask "why can't I set the input impedance for the Variax VDI just like I can with the Guitar In?". Surely that would be the best option? But it's not available. So the next question "why is it not available?". My testing with the GUITAR-IN-Z showed that those changes made a big difference to the tonal input of the guitar. Surely we should be able to do the same with the JTV? Or if not, then surely the JTV models should be very similar to the equivalent standard guitar models without any need to tweak - but they are not - they are much brighter and full of high end - well the Tele Neck pickup model certainly is. So - I could go into Workbench and spend some time experimenting with the different volume pot values to see if I could match the tonal qualities of the model with the real thing, or I could experiment with the tone pot values and setting of the knob position to achieve a similar tonal quality. But these options seem way over the top and time consuming and unnecessary when the Variax models should have the input impedance modelled in some way already or at the very lest they should respond like the AUTO setting does for Guitar In and match chosen fx or amp, but they don't. They don't appear to have any modelled tonal attenuation due to "lead length" or "Input impedance" - they seem to be constant with no high end attenuation occurring as with a real guitar/pickup/lead combination. Does anyone know why the VDI implementation does not allow for any impedance matching like Guitar-In-z ? Does anyone have any suggested values for volume and/or tone pots that I could try in Workbench HD to make the JTV Tmod-5 model behave tonally like a real Fender Tele neck pick up in terms of attenuated high end? Thanks in advance.
  17. Well guys, I just uploaded the video. Hopefully this will answer some questions of how the two units compare when trying to build patches. Please share the video if you can!
  18. I really wish Line 6 would bring back the blog. They used to have some great articles and really provided info we could use. Sure there was some fluff in there too but WTF? Why did it stop? Anyways, going back through the archives I came across this series about delays and to preserve it for posterity (cause we never know when those pages will disappear) I put them in a PDF form. Looks like it was meant to keep going but something stopped them from continuing. Sure wish they would pick this back up and keep going across the full range of all the effects... 19. Hi, I have got problem to set up channel B. I would like to have two independent channels A and B, which I can switch between themselves. I can set up only chanel A on the HD, and when I switch to chanel B, what kind of amp is it? When I plug my guitar only to the DT, it sound well! But when HD is connected, the channel B sound different, badly... Thanx so much for answer!
  20. Hi guys am having trouble to installin or updating with MONKEY, i recently install it in my laptop again and its not working, i installed the driver manually but.... seems to not work
  21. Hey guys, For many months I have been practicing and recording using my Pod hd500 (Firmware 2.10) and i've tried many Custom tone high gain presets like ENGL,Treadplate and more but All of them sound very harsh and dirty without any "body", the opposite of a thick and warm tone. Each preset that I downloaded from custom tone sounds very bad. Now I have just installed 2.0 (Rollback) and all those high gain tones which sounded very bad and harsh now sound excellent and very thick!.I'm a little confused, Perhaps the presets were intended to be used in the firmware 2.0?. Anyway they sound 100% different, now i am very happy! My recordings sound very good and clear! I'm in love with my pod again. The only thing that I miss the last firmware are the SOLDANO models... There is a problem with my pod? Any one of you has the same problem? What can i do? My Gear: Schecter hellraiser c1 fr ---------> Pod HD500--------> Shure Shr840 Headphones/M-audio BX8D2 Studio monitors Pod settings: -Studio/Direct. Thank you for read!
  22. First time messing with the HD Edit software, trying to create a patch with a harmonizer. But I want the harmony to be a half step, to achieve an affect similar to what you would hear in a Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza song. I assume the effect I would use would be the frequency shifter, but how would I set it to get a half step harmony?
  23. I just want to go.. 1. From Guitar - into Line6 HD500 2. Out of HD500 into two separate combo amps 3. run stereo guitar rig.. left signal into a 2x12 combo amp & a Right signal into a different 2x12 combo amp. 4. Just a regular, non-Variax guitar into two regular 2x12 (Non-DT) guitar amps. Thats it.. That's all I want to do. Shouldn't that be simple??? I'm losing my mind swimming in an ocean of irrelevant threads/topics. Please, for the love of God!!! If you can Please, just give me the basic scoop on this seemingly simple set-up... Thank you!!! I'll Buy your drinks for the night if you can help!!!!
  24. Hi. I updated my POD HD500 and JTV-59 recently to the new firmwares. Now when I turn it on with the Variax plugged in it just constantly reboots - doesn't get far enough to make a sound. As soon as I unplug the Variax (VDI connected), it starts and I can plug the guitar back in and it works. Anyone else in this boat? I haven't tried reflashing anything but will soon I guess.
  25. I went to our local store for repair of my broken USB port. they changed it with new one. when i got home, any computer in the house cannot recognize the device. i've been searching the net but still no solution for this. help? note: i tried my friend's hd500 and it worked just fine.
