  1. My setup: JTV59 -> VDI -> HD500 -> l6link -> l2m I gig occasionally and my L2m is not used that often and when transported it is carefully carried and placed in the boot of a car and it has a protective padded cover. I have had the l2m for 2+ years now and not had any issues with it other than the well documented vibration problem when I first got it which was fixed under warranty. The problem: The last two times I have taken the L2m out to a gig and a rehearsal, and connected it up as shown above, when I first play a chord on my JTV59 using a patch on my HD500 for a clean guitar sound, I get the guitar sound plus a distorted fuzzy sound which sounds like the l2m speaker has blown or is about to die. I then switched the l2m off - and only the l2m, leaving the HD500 still plugged in and connected and the JTV59 connected to the HD500 - and when I switched the l2m back on it had cleared the problem and I was getting the expected clear sound from that patch. Also at this point I haven't proved beyond doubt that it is the L2m at fault but I do know that switching if off and on does resolve the problem so it does point towards the L2m being the issue. This has now happened twice. I will test it some more over the weekend but meanwhile I wanted to ask whether anyone else has had this problem or a similar problem? And whether or not they resolved it or if it got worse and had to be sent off for repair? Thanks
  2. I've read that the pre-amps in HD500 are the best to use with DT50 and DT25, so I've put a setlist together with all of the pres as a baseline for my patch creation. The problem I encountered was that the volumes varied WILDLY and I kept blowing up my ears going from the quietest amp (Hiway-100 apparently) and a Treadplate for example. Of course one amp is louder than the other, but for home use, or testing, having these patches be leveled is a must So I've gone through and leveled out (with the MIXER setting) all 30 of the pre amps to be very roughly the same loudness. There is definitely some variance. If anyone cares to correct them more properly, please do so and post the update. In this setlist, Hiway-100 is the quietest amp- I have the db setting on the mixer maxed, so I used that setting as the baseline for loudness of all the other amps. Very unscientific, but now I don't get ringing ears if I'm switching between. Hope this helps. DT25 30 pre-Amps-leveled.zip
  3. OK so a good friend is buying my HD500 with the fully loaded bundle installed just in time for my Helix to arrive this week. I want to be absolutely sure he can register it to his own account and install the bundle on his computer too. Can anyone walk me through the necessary steps to make sure we do this right or point me to a knowledge base article with all the details? I don't want to mess this up and lose the bundle to the cyber world...
  4. I just picked up a used HD500 mostly for use as a headphone practice amp. With dogs and neighbors and all, I can't fire up my real amps very often at the house. Problem is every amp sounds fuzzy. Not a good fuzzy. A digital fuzzy. No effects, some effects, doesn't matter. Clean is digitally fuzzy, distorted amp is fuzzy. I've been through the tone guide, I've been through pretty much every parameter via the edit software, I've tried everything and it all sounds horrible. Output is set to studio. I've loaded the latest firmware. Whatever I try, it just sounds cheap and fuzzy. Anyone have a solution for this? Thing is, I have an old kidney bean pod and it sounds great through headphones. No fuzz, no cheap, just warm and pretty real. How does a product several generations newer sound waaaaaay worse? You could say, Go back the old pod then, dummy, and that'd be fair enough, but then I lose out on all the power and flexibility of switching cabs and mics and effect order and values, etc. I really was looking forward to newly remodeled versions of the old amps. The old Plexi is really not a great model for a holy grail amp. It feels like it's missing the old A.I.R. II technology, which made the pod sound really good through headphones. Is that somewhere in the setup where I can't find it? Without that, it just sounds like a cheap spider amp. How do people use these for recording? I just can't get it to sound like a true amp.
  5. I'll try to be concise. Problem : HD 500 Crashed not connected to PC . Won't start up just Line 6 logo slowly flashing. Sent to line 6 repairer and they said the unit was working and behaving as it should. upon receiving it back it looked good for about 10 minuites then while playing my Guitar through it the sound went off and it froze on the patch. Unplugged and plugged back in and I have the same problem as I started with ie: just the logo flashing. I contacted the line 6 repair shop to say what had happened and he just said the unit is knackered and reckons it's the board? I want to be sure it's not repairable obviously and seeing as though the repair shop haven't actually had the back off this I wonder naturally. I have tried to do a Global reset and it won't accept it. Has anyone had this problem ? and what was your outcome ? Any comments and advise will be gratefully received. Cheers! Colin.
  6. I'm going to connect my POD HD500 to my Laney Lionheart combo L120T-112. I found this article: http://amplifya.com/setting-up-your-tube-amp-with-a-pod-hd500/ and it references a Line 6 primer on the subject which is supposed to be found here: http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2523. This link is broken. I suppose Line6 have forgotten to update it when they renewed their site. But as the article recommends it I would love to have a look! Where can I find it? I'm aware of several videos on YouTube on the subject, but anyway ...
  7. Guys I need your help D: I got my HD500X yesterday, and so far I'm hating the pitch glide When I set it +1 octave up single notes sound great, but when I try to play songs like My iron lung or subterranean homesick alien, the sound is horrible, I've seen in the forum that the pitch glide is not polyphonic, but I've heard that some people were able to fix this, and I dont want to buy a Digitech Whammy just for multiple notes. Is there a way to fix this? I play a lot of radiohead, muse and U2 covers in my band, so...+1 octave up is a crucial effect :) Thanks in advance.
  8. I plugged the HD500 into the Spider Jam Aux and was practicing some clean and distortion riffs with the Solo-100 Clean amp model and a plate reverb and added the Line 6 Drive model before the amp and a volume pedal after the distortion model to adjust the volume of the distortion before the amp model. The distortion and volume pedal are toggled with FS2 and the reverb toggled with FS3. I didn't change any settings on any of the models except the max volume of the volume pedal model which ended up being 56%. Now I know it's a simple thing and probably common knowledge but the sound was just so good I had to say something, lol. I was using an Epiphone Special II (humbuckers) with the guitar volume at max and settings in and on the pod were as follows: Input sources were input 1=Guitar and input 2=Variax, Guitar IN switch set to normal, guitar in Z (Auto), "Line" setting for the 1/4" L out, Output mode=Studio Direct, global EQ off, the master volume I had set to 10-11 O'clock and it was pretty loud for practicing. Spider Jam settings were: Aux EQ Tone stack all at noon, Delay and reverb off, I forget what the compressor setting was but I'm sure it wasn't compressing much, the input setting was 0 Db and the master was maxed. 9. Anyone have a good slide guitar tone? It will be used for the classics ('70s) and some eagles.
  10. Hey there Please can anybody help me? I was always using my POD HD 500 normally with USB and Reaper and everything, but today I'm having this issue: when POD is not plugged in the PC I can hear my guitar normally through Unbalanced Output and headphones, but when I plug it into my PC, sounds goes off in those outputs. I can hear PC's sounds normally, and Reaper is getting signal from it, but very distorted. If I unplug the USB, the sound comes back (despite my PC gets a blue screen, but I've had this issue before when unplugging the USB, and no problems with sound). My PC is a Sony Vaio VGN-FW460J with Windows 10, not sure if it's a problem with it tho. I'm hoping this is not a big issue, I'm depending a lot of my POD for these days!! Any help is welcome, thanks!

  13. All credits regarding this discovering goes to Elantric from Vguitar Forums. Guitarist and MIDI Designer Pro user François Desnoyers has been one of the most influential people in the MIDI Designer Community. Features from his suggestion list are still being implemented in every MIDI Designer release, and his international French is behind the French App Store text. But as you can see from his layouts, he’s serious about making MIDI Controllers, like this one for the Line 6 HD500. The HD500 does not allow for a lot of MIDI control. Even so, François solves one of the biggest problems with the interface, which is allowing direct, visible access to the presets: Having to rely on a reference grid to identify presets was not very pleasant. I decided to reproduce most of SETLIST panels on pages. You can mix and match pages from this layout with those for the Line 6 DT50 Amp Controller. This way you can control both your FX and your amp from the same device. Sweet! 14. I'm considering assembling a DT25 dream rig. In a nutshell, what are the advantages/disadvantages/differences between using an HD500 and HD500X. I know the "X" comes with more bells and whistles, but are those extras worth it from a dream rig perspective? I completely understand a lot depends on how much flexibility/how many features I may personally want. But like buying a cell phone, I don't want to pay for stuff that sounds impressive that in real world applications, I'll never use. As a point of reference, I primarily work in a touring act that does a tribute to the 60s Brit Invasion and American Classic Rock/Pop. However, I also work with an 80s tribute and sit in on shows that run the gamut from Standards to Metal. I currently have a Flextone III rig with JTVs. At present, I essentially use 6 basic user presets with different effect combinations. Working "globally" like this allows a generalize preset to work across most musical styles. Kind of a one size fits all strategy. Ultimately, I would like to be able to program custom presets for specific songs, and perhaps free up my hands from manual JTV switching between songs. Hoping to get some feedback from others who pondered the choice of HD Pod to get. Thanks!
  15. Hello, I own a HD500 and I have found some great patches on Line6 Customtone. The problem is, that some of the patches are very loud compared to my own designed patches. I have a VOX AC30 Amp connected. This tube amp need a bit of volume for a good sound, I have the volume poti 30-40% opened. The problem is, when I reduce the volume in the customtone patch, the patch sounds no longer good. I have tried to reduce the volume in the FX Section in the Distrotion volume, in the Amp Section in the Amp Master and Channel Volume, in the Mixer Section the Main Mix Volume...no metter where I reduce the volume, the sound looses its power and distortion. Thank you for help !
  16. There are not a lot of tones for HD500X. More FLOYD,SABBATH,KENNY WAYNE SHEPHER!
  17. Hi Guys!! i was trying to understand the 4 cable method, and actually did, but the problem is that i cant find instructions for my gear. i have a POD HD500 for a while and i recently bought a engl power amp (2 x 50), that's fine because i was using the POD as Pre amp, the cab is stereo compatible so i use the 2 inputs. the problem was when i get the pre engl e530. i want to know how to make the 4 cable method in this case (if it can) to keep using the POD just for effects. gear: - pod hd500 - engl e530 pre - engl e840/50 power - laney gs412l
  18. Hello everyone, i recently bought a new Lenovo laptop with Windows 8.1 preinstalled on it. Like topic says, i can't use my HD500 board with it because windows doesn't recognise the device after driver installation. I tried installing the drivers with standalone application and with line6 monkey. I tried installing drivers in Windows7 compatibility mode. I tried disabling the windows 8.1 driver signature enforcement. The installation finishes without errors, but when i connect the HD500 it says something like "the usb device is not working and can't be recognized". I am sure the HD500 works good because i used it with my older laptop with Windows7 installed, so i guess it's a compatibility problem with 8.1?!? Why after installing the drivers, Monkey continues to say that they are not installed? The specific error i'm getting ( when going to control panel -> device manager) is: "The device reported a problem and has been discontinued. (Code 43) Request descriptor of the USB device failed." Thanks for every answer
  19. I have a DT50 & Pod HD500 over L6 link with AES cable. Last night I had a live gig and in the second set, in a middle of a song, the DT50 suddenly stops working! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜³ðŸ˜© In some kind of panic I switch over directly to my DT-amp, to ensure that my HD500 was ok and try to find the problem. The DT50 was no sounding at all, but the power lamp was lightning. I tried both channels (A & B) with no success. I turn it off and on and nothing helps me. To save the situation, I had to plug in my HD500 direct to the PA. Unfortunately I had'nt any Patches for that, so the sound was terrable with low volume because I use Pre-amp patches. The day after I check out my DT50 to find the problem, but the Amp was working and sounding!😳 I check the fuses to be shure and they were ok. My question is, anyone else who had this problem and can it be so, that the amp stops working if it's too hot? I have the master volume on max and set the output with the lokal volume.
  20. Does anyone know if my HD500 will work with a condenser microphone? I'm pretty sure I have set the inputs up correctly on the HD500 but am wondering if the XLR microphone connection does not provide the phantom power supply the mic needs I looked around to try and find the technical specifications for the HD500 but couldn't find it anywhere
  21. I was going over some of the ideas on ideascale and came across a request for Variax wireless solution. I think that is an awesome idea and definitely needed for JTV's to be fully embraced by the professional performers, especially on the bigger stages. Interestingly, I also saw this link discussing an actual Line 6 unpublished feature built in to the Vetta II. Apparently they enabled a wireless variax feature during one of the firmware upgrades that enabled the Vetta to make Variax changes over wireless. It wasn't a complete 2 way communication solution but it certainly opened the door and showed that Line 6 themselves were at one point working it. Why on earth they haven't exploited that ability with the POD HD series is just beyond me. Anyway, here is the link to the Vetta info. If you think its a good idea go over to ideascale and vote it up... http://vettaville.nl/pagmore.php?id=166 http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Wireless-VDI/490019-23508#comments
  22. After enjoying my HD500 for years (i think i bought it when they'd been out 6 months or so) I hit a problem at a gig on Saturday. I hadn't used the POD for a few years, but I remember updating the firmware every few months just in case I was going to get it out and play! Then comes the time I actually get back into gigging and on stage I discover the XLR outputs aren't working! On further investigation the headphone out isn't working either, but S/PDIF and 1/4 outs are fine. Here's the steps i've taken: 1) I rolled it back as far as v2.31 with the Monkey - no change 2)So I went waaaaaaay back to v1.43.00 and it still didn't work - and i know that back when that was the latest firmware it most definitely DID work. I've got everything on MAX, got a hot signal from the 1/4 and am running the XLRs into a pre-amp set at instrument level with a lot of gain and its dead. 3) Went back to the latest v2.31 - it now crashes just after boot up 4) did a Safe Mode re-flash - same 5) did a global parameter reset and flash - it lives! 6) XLR still doesnt work Does anyone have any suggestions of things to try? I'm out of ideas. Is there a single module in the unit that controls the headphones and XLRs? Anyone know if it's fixable? I guess if I gig again I can just take a DI box with me :(
  23. Hi, I have a POD HD500 which I mainly use for delay and reverb etc and I would like to put the pedal board into my effects loop on my mesa dual rec. I wanted to do this as the mesa has a foot switch that can turn the effects loop on and off and is super convenient to be able to use the effects on different channels of the amp. What is the correct was to go about doing this? The mesa has an effects loop send and return but I have no idea where to plug the 2 cords into the pedal go. Would it be - amp effect loop send <----> POD guitar in amp effects loop return <----> POD Unbalanced Output L/Mono So far i have my guitar plugged into a boss ns-2 out the front, then straight into the amp input but where should i plug the amp effects loop send and return into the pedal? Thanks very much!!!!
  24. Hi everyone, I just bought a Line 6 Firehawk, but I really want to know if there is an option to use the Live mode as in POD HD500 so I can use every switch as a stomp from F1-F5 and also use A - D as a stomp instead of using them to change banks. PLEASE HELP me! here`s my email so you can contact me: alex_sanmartin2593@hotmail.com
  25. Hi friends! I've got an HD500 running into one DT25 combo amp. Recently fell in love with the BF-Double VIB(Fender twin reverb). Rich, warm clean tone yet with clarity, especially through the DT-25 amp! However, its overdrive is farty and bloated (name that quote)! I haven't found a setting or overdrive pedal to fix this. I've always loved the AC30 overdrive - tight, warm, not farty or fuzzy, but the clean is a bit... sterile. I want the warm clean of the BFx2 but the tight crunchy overdrive of the AC30! I considered using a dual amp mode, but it's confusing which amp is controlling the actual DT25 wiring, and I felt I just got the worst of both worlds. My warm, clean tone from the BFx2 was gone. I welcome any advice for improvements, whether they be the perfect adjustments to the BF-Double to fix the farty overdrive, advice for dual amps with one DT-25, the perfect overdrive pedal (with settings), an alternative to the BFx2 model, or even ditching the HD500 amp models with the perfect DT-25 settings, etc... Thanks!!! Extra notes: For an overdrive, I hate it when notes seem to fight each other and it gets all buzz-sawey or farty / indistinct. Looking for more of a Brit crunch, perhaps some U2 like tone (who also uses an AC30). My Rig: Fender Strat American Deluxe (with a Tele bridge pickup) HD500 DT-25 Amp
