[HD500X] No sound on Windows 10

HI! I've an apparently common issue with some other Line6 products: suddenly, no sound on windows 10! The solution "set default audio format to 16bit/48kHz" does not work at all. These are the steps for problem replication: - HD500X turned off, Windows 10 PC turned off. - HD500X turned on. - When HD500X is ready, boot up Windows 10 PC. - When Windows 10 is ready, launch a media player with a backing track. At this point it could happen that the audio from media player is muted while audio from guitar works just fine. Closing and reopening the media player doesn't work. Disabling and re-enabling of the device still doesn't work. Drivers uninstall or system reboot only solves temporarily the problem. It seems that the problem arises with a higher probability when both Firefox and Thunderbird are running. Any solution?

Midi sync / time clock POD HD500x

I picked up a Beatbuddy drum pedal and I have it plugged into the POD HD500x through MIDI. The problem I'm facing is the time clocks are off by .08 bpm. Does anyone have any thoughts to calibrate or correct the time clock sync?
  3. I love my Variax standard and it's only being used for home use, I plug it into my spider amp ,and also use an old r.m.s acoustic amp for the acoustic side of things, my question is has anybody used one of the Yamaha thr amps with good results ? Also could I run my hd500x into the front of an thr ? . Thank you .
  4. Hello guys! I purchased a HD500X 2months ago. It was sooooooo freakin' awesome!!!!!! But, when I was about to update the firmware... Line 6 Monkey 1.72 does not have HD500X on its list. So I am not able to connect my POD to Monkey... and so I'm unable to perform updates... I've tried the HD500Xedit and it was working well. I'm able to copy paste save patches and set lists. The USB cable is good, the HD500X driver is installed and working properly. Too bad I couldn't update to the latest firmware because Line 6 Monkey is not recognizing HD500X. I've tried re-installing Monkey 1.72 then the other previous versions 1.71 -----> 1.63 but all of them does the same thing. They don't recognize HD500X. Its still not listed in the drop down list. What else can be done to sort this out? Has anyone tried to connect their HD500X thru MIDI? Will it work despite the not listed problem in Monkey? Hope to hear from you guys soon! thanks! :)

What do I need on my PC for HD500X?

Hi all, I'm a new guy here to POD HD500X. I've downloaded some new tones from Customtone but have no idea how to transfer these tones to my PodHd 500X. There are so many softwares on the website and I don't know what should I have. What are the best (important) softwares do I really need to start with?
  6. Hello and thank you in advance for your help. :) I currently have my POD HD500X connected to my firewire digital interface via SP/DIF, and everything is sounding amazing. I can record to my DAW and everything sounds exactly same as headphones direct from the Pod. What I am Trying to do: I would life to record via SP/DIF, but also use my computer to edit my tones via USB. Problem: when I plug in the USB cable from my computer to the POD HD, the audio from the sp/dif shutoff, when I unplug the USB cable the audio starts working again. I am not sure if this is normal or not. I have have read both that it should work, and should not work. Is this actually possible? Is there a setting in the computer or POD HD that I should be looking at? Thanks You, Matt B.
  7. Hi all New guy here to both Line 6 and the HD500x. Not interested in using the presets and I would like to get right into creating my own tones, using the modeling features to their fullest potential. What are the best resources (vids/tutorials etc.) to start with? Thanks! :)

HD500x is making my amp quieter

Hey guys, I was hoping to get some advice for a problem I'm having. I use my POD HD500x with my amp's head using the four-cable method (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZtY8bS-GQ0). Since I've been using it like that, it's been great with no problems at all. But recently my amp became too quiet to hear over the drums, and I've had to crank the volume to around 1 o'clock, while previously keeping it at around 8 o'clock would be plenty loud. I thought perhaps it was time to change my tubes (it was gonna have to happen one day anyway), so I retubed the head, and tried playing today and it was still too quiet. The amp's probably not the issue, because it is still very loud when I plug the guitar directly into the input If I use the amp, and in the FX Loop use a noise gate (fx send -> gate -> fx return), it's still just as loud If, in the FX loop, I use the POD, it makes it very quiet, even when my guitar is going directly into the input. So if I use a noise gate on the POD and put it in the FX Loop (fx send -> pod with only gate -> fx return), it's quiet, but as soon as I unplug it from the FX return, it's back to being loud. This makes me think that there might be something wrong with the POD, but when I practice at home using headphones it's fine. I've also checked to see if it's my cab, by swapping it with a different head (it's not) and if it's my head, by swapping it with a different cab (also not the issue). As far as I can remember I haven't touched any of the settings on the POD, the master volume is always to max, etc. I've attached what my settings are on the POD just in case, but I don't think that has anything to do with it, as I haven't changed anything and I really like the setup. If anyone can offer me some guidance or help troubleshooting it'd be much appreciated. I've got a feeling that nothing is actually broken, but I'm stumped.

    Replacement X3 Live

Hi, Recently my POD X3 Live stopped working; I had an electrician look at it and he found out that the power switch wasn't working so he's sorted that for me - so I can use my X3 again; but it brought home how old it is and that I should probably replace it but here's my problem. These are the amp models that I use on my X3; exclusively in a Dual Tone setup with each amp panned 80% left/right. 2002 ANGEL P-Ball (2002 ENGL Powerball ch2) - not on the HD500X 2002 Bomber Uber (2002 Bogner Uberschall) HD500X 2002 Bomber X-TC (2002 Bogner Ecstasy) - not on the HD500X 1985 Cali Crunch (Mesa/Boogie Mark II-C+) - not on the HD500X 2003 Connor 50 (2003 Cornford mk50h) - not on the HD500X 2002 Criminal (2002 Peavey® 5150) - Pay to Win HD500X 2003 Deity Crunch (2003 Diezel VH4 ch3) - not on the HD500X 2003 Deity Lead (2003 Diezel VH4 ch4) - not on the HD500X 2003 Deity’s Son (2003 Diezel Herbert) - not on the HD500X 2001 Diamond Plate (Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier ch3) - not on the HD500X 2001 Treadplate Dual (Mesa/Boogie Dual Recitifier ch3) HD500X 2001 Zen Master (Budda Twinmaster) - not on the HD500X The Firehawk has the models sure, but it doesn't have Dual Tone. So from what I can tell there's no upgrade path from the X3 without loosing functionality; unless the firehawk has some secret way of doing dual tone? Anyone have any comments about this? Thanks.

    POD HD500X into Marshall DFX250

Does anyone else use a POD HD500X with a Marshall DFX250. Im looking to hear from users who have achieved a great tone by using this amp or similar Solid State Marshall Amps. What way they connect the pod to their amp (front end, Returns, 4CM), output mode they use, 1/4 out setting, Stomp or Line Setting, Mixer Setting, I've tried different ways of connecting the pod to the amp & using different settings on the pod, but I'm not convinced I've found the best sounding set up option yet. Using the 4 Cable Method, I was thinking of using the pod amp models in the same way you'd use a Wampler Ace Thirty or similar amp modeling pedals (into a clean amp). I know this is preamp into preamp, but surley you can view the amp models on the pod as pedals. I find that using the Pod Preamp Models (ie. Plexi PRE) don't have the same drive or character as the full amp models on the Pod. Any tips would be great. Cheers
  14. I recently picked up the HD500X and decided to download some patches to kind of use to figure out my own patches. All of the patches I downloaded were metal patches and when I actually hook the HD500X into my amp the patches sound very very sharp, they can't be played without a headache. I recreated the patches myself on the HD500X and the sound is not sharp at all. I don't understand why the downloaded ones sound so bad. If this helps I'm using a Marshall Mg100HDFX with an LTD EC1000.

    HD500X to 5.1 system

Have anyone tried to connect a the POD HD500 / X through a 5.1 system? No matter how did you connect it. I mean, it could have been passing through an audio interface first. Just interested in the sound it would provide since 5.1 systems tend to sepparate frequencies very well and have dedicated speakers for almost all audible frequencies. Maybe a dumb question :-D but I love those kinds of questions that puts me to redefine things

Helix vs HD500X through PA speakers

As a long time user of a HD500 and HD500X, I have noticed one defiency that has been noted on the HD500 forums - that the HD500/500X sounds beautiful through PA speakers with clean sounds but as soon as you add any overdrive or distortion - the sounds turns fizzy. I am using pretty decent powered PA speakers (EV ZLX-12P) and love the clean but find most distortion not very pleasant. I have heard many explanations and also solutions with EQ. Ironically, the best sound I have gotten so far is running the HD500/500X through a set of Peavey Bandits in the Post Gain Input outfitted with PA speakers. It gives me a nice balanced sound and sound close to the digital signal that I can pump to my computer. My question is does the Helix sound better through PA speakers for the wide range of clean/distortion sounds than a HD500/500X? I wouldn't mind using an IR to adjust the sound but I don't want to spend hours adusting each patch to sound good through a PA and then back it out if I want to use my standard rig. Any insight would be helpful - I am thinking of purchasing a Helix but am thinking this could be a sticking point if it doesn't sound much better than my HD500/500X through a PA speaker...

    HD500X Setup Help

Hello everyone. Hoping to get some advice. I got an HD500X about a month ago and it is a big disappointment. I'm sure that it is not the product but my not knowing how to use it properly yet. Here are my main issues. Plug the HD500 into the guitar input on the front of my Fender 65 twin reverb amp Loud hum drones on Strat played thru the 500 into the Fender = tone suck. It sound bigger and better without the 500. Has anyone encountered this problem and found a solution? Thanks

    Best Option?

Okay Guys, I need some advice. Although I consider myself somewhat knowledgable on some subjects, when it comes to sound, amps, pedals, and plethora of options, I'm a total boot. Which is a reason I own a HD500X...everything is there for me and I don't have to worry about it. That being said though, the HD500x is huge and I travel a lot for work so I'm not always able to bring it along with me and I'm relegated to subpar travel amp options. Question: - Is there an interface that will allow me to use the programs that are related to my HD500X ("HD500x Edit, Workbench HD, and/or POD Farm 2")? For instance, instead of bringing my pedal along with me, can I just use an interface to plug directly into my computer where I could use those programs as my pedal?...so I could use the output towards a set of speakers/headphones? - Sonic port...is this my best option (I do own a Mac)? Or is there another option that I'm unaware of? - Will the Sonic port allow me to use the setting I have on those aforementioned programs or will I have to use whatever is on their Mobile App? Anyways, just looking for some guidance. I'm just trying to get the sound I've grown accustomed to without lugging the actual pedal with me. Thanks Guys!

    Amp Switching with one switch

Curious. Is there a way to set one footswitch to toggle between to effects or amps? Essentially an Amp Switcher. I typically use 2 amps on a patch and right now I have to use two footswitches to toggle between the two (one is set clean, the other is driven) Is there a way to consildate it to one footswitch? So when the light is on, the clean amp is active and when the light is off it turns the driven amp on? Seems like this would be a simple enough task, I may just be missing it. If not, Line 6 People, please consider this feature in an update. It'd be super cool...

Output routing - best of both worlds?

I apologize if this was asked previously elsewhere. I tried perusing the manuals and searching the forums... For the last 4 years, I have been using Guitar Rig with Rig Kontrol live. Honestly, I might still be a happy user if NI would keep their products up-to-date and not discontinue their hardware. I can't do a live show anymore without experiencing bad audio drop-outs and worse. Time to ditch and look elsewhere... One of the cool things I was able to do with GR, however, was route speaker simulation (cab sim, etc.) to ONLY one side of the outputs. My common setup was to run the output with NO cab sim to my on-stage amp, and the output with the cab sim ON to the DI/PA system. The tones were just a little off from each other, but my stage amp has V30's, and so I'd run the V30 cab sim for the house line, and with a little EQ, I was a pretty happy camper. This became the better option, rather than A) Mic'ing the stage cab for the house feed (not a fan), and B] Running the cab sim ON to my amp signal (Redundant yuck.), or C) Using NO cab sim (horrible shrill line out). So obviously, that's my question. Can you, somehow, route the outputs on the HD500X in such a way where the speaker simulation is running to, say, the Balanced XLR output(s) - meanwhile the 1/4" amp outputs disengage any cab sim? Or...is there another option/configuration I'm not aware of that addresses this issue? Thanks for the help!

Hd500x to focusrite, best way to record?

First let me tell you my setup. I have a hd500x, dt25 combo, focusrite 18i8, behringer ultragain digital ADA8200 mic pre and Reaper. What is the best way to get great tones into Reaper from the hd500x. I tried using the balanced left and right out of the HD but the signal was wayyyyyyy low. The best i have come up with is run a USB and mono unbalanced out into the focusrite. Is there a better way ? Should i be running left and right to the focusrite? Suggestions?

    Expression pedal for HD500x

Hi all! I've recently been experimenting with different options for an external exp pedal for my hd500x. I've tried both the EX1 line 6 pedal, and the mission engineering pedal. The ex1 lasted for only about a dozen gigs and rehearsals, then failed and was unfixable. I'm heavy footed and gig alot (80-100 gigs and rehearsals a year average) so the ex1 is not an option. The mission pedal is a much better pedal overall, but I don't like the travel of the pedal to use as a volume. Basically, neither of these work for me, and I'm not interested in an external wah. The on board exp pedal is currently doing triple duty as my volume, wah and whammy controller. I would like to free it up for mostly just wah and whammy; the external pedal will take over volume control duties. The primary function of the external exp pedal will be for min/max volume control in a live setting; mostly for rhythm to lead volume, and occasionally for fx control. I've been checking the forum archives and have seen that some folks have used other brands of expression pedals with varying degrees of success, such as the Boss fv500 series, etc. Anyone here have any experience using other expression pedals besides the ex1 or the mission? Any info will be much appreciated. Thanks!
