  1. Hi, We would like to know if it's possible to synchronise the loop tempo of the pod with the session tempo of Ableton Live ? We used the midi input of pod but the tempo wasn't right (120BPM in live / 119.8BPM recognized by the POD) and the loop didn't keep synchronised... Any ideas please ?
  2. Just picked up a helix this weekend and so far I'm loving it! First order of business was to recreate my main patch that I've been using for years on my HD500X. It's based on a Dr. Z model and I've been really happy tone wise. Quite honestly it was the additional features, routing, options, etc that drew me to Helix. I wasn't unhappy with my tone at all. So anyway I built the patch in Helix and thought it would be fun to A/B them. Here's a link to it on Soundcloud. Dr.Z amp and cab, some reverb, delay, and a couple of tube screamers. I'll take a few guesses on which is which before I say what's what, just for fun :) https://soundcloud.com/chuskey/helix-vs-hd500 Technical bits: Used a Variax via the VDI. Captured the dry signal via USB and reamped, so it's the same performance for both tracks.
  3. On the HD500X...Which ones have better worked for you and how? I mean, how have you used them, for which styles, etc. If you want to answer, please do it, you may save some lives, including mine, haha Greetings
  4. Good day to all, Recently i bought a new POD HD500x. I downloaded it edit and downloaded some custom tones from the official website. When i tried to add some of these tones into my pod using HD500x Edit suddenly it showed "This preset contains models that aren't available until a device with authorized model pack is connected via usb. Continue with substitute models?". Why cant i access the real tone ????? Please Help me
  5. Are there any factory presets using the amps from the new Model Packs?
  7. Hello guys! I purchased a HD500X 2months ago. It was sooooooo freakin' awesome!!!!!! But, when I was about to update the firmware... Line 6 Monkey 1.72 does not have HD500X on its list. So I am not able to connect my POD to Monkey... and so I'm unable to perform updates... I've tried the HD500Xedit and it was working well. I'm able to copy paste save patches and set lists. The USB cable is good, the HD500X driver is installed and working properly. Too bad I couldn't update to the latest firmware because Line 6 Monkey is not recognizing HD500X. I've tried re-installing Monkey 1.72 then the other previous versions 1.71 -----> 1.63 but all of them does the same thing. They don't recognize HD500X. Its still not listed in the drop down list. What else can be done to sort this out? Has anyone tried to connect their HD500X thru MIDI? Will it work despite the not listed problem in Monkey? Hope to hear from you guys soon! thanks! :)
  8. Hi Guys, I am currently using my POD HD500X connected to a PA active speaker (12", Behringer) and have no complains with it... But I've been thinking for a while on trying it with a valve amp. I have found online a few people using a Blackstar HT-5, little and affordable valve amp, and they seems to be happy with the sounds. - Is it worth the mess of the 4CM, modify all my patches, ... for the 'valves'? Will be noticeable the difference? Or is still straight to PA the best amplification for the POD? I play mainly modern progressive rock/hard rock, so I will be using cleans as much as distortions. Cheers.
  9. Any news or rumors or guesses about the model following HD500X? It's now over 3 years since the launch. I tried HD500X in the store, I own Variax and the only big issues were the small display (especially patch name is very small font when standing), no FX tails when switching preset and a bit small loop maximum length. I dont own it yet but seemed like a really nice product. Oh and the canvas was somewhat wide, smaller board at the sides would totally be possible and still have the same features and usability. Personally I thought I'll wait a couple of months and if theres no update, ill go with this one. Really looking forward to have the presets tied to my guitar model, such a clever feature!
  10. Guys I need your help D: I got my HD500X yesterday, and so far I'm hating the pitch glide When I set it +1 octave up single notes sound great, but when I try to play songs like My iron lung or subterranean homesick alien, the sound is horrible, I've seen in the forum that the pitch glide is not polyphonic, but I've heard that some people were able to fix this, and I dont want to buy a Digitech Whammy just for multiple notes. Is there a way to fix this? I play a lot of radiohead, muse and U2 covers in my band, so...+1 octave up is a crucial effect :) Thanks in advance.
  11. I love my Variax standard and it's only being used for home use, I plug it into my spider amp ,and also use an old r.m.s acoustic amp for the acoustic side of things, my question is has anybody used one of the Yamaha thr amps with good results ? Also could I run my hd500x into the front of an thr ? . Thank you .
  12. HI! I've an apparently common issue with some other Line6 products: suddenly, no sound on windows 10! The solution "set default audio format to 16bit/48kHz" does not work at all. These are the steps for problem replication: - HD500X turned off, Windows 10 PC turned off. - HD500X turned on. - When HD500X is ready, boot up Windows 10 PC. - When Windows 10 is ready, launch a media player with a backing track. At this point it could happen that the audio from media player is muted while audio from guitar works just fine. Closing and reopening the media player doesn't work. Disabling and re-enabling of the device still doesn't work. Drivers uninstall or system reboot only solves temporarily the problem. It seems that the problem arises with a higher probability when both Firefox and Thunderbird are running. Any solution?
  13. I picked up a Beatbuddy drum pedal and I have it plugged into the POD HD500x through MIDI. The problem I'm facing is the time clocks are off by .08 bpm. Does anyone have any thoughts to calibrate or correct the time clock sync?
  14. Hi all New guy here to both Line 6 and the HD500x. Not interested in using the presets and I would like to get right into creating my own tones, using the modeling features to their fullest potential. What are the best resources (vids/tutorials etc.) to start with? Thanks! :)
  15. Hi all, I'm a new guy here to POD HD500X. I've downloaded some new tones from Customtone but have no idea how to transfer these tones to my PodHd 500X. There are so many softwares on the website and I don't know what should I have. What are the best (important) softwares do I really need to start with?
  16. Hello and thank you in advance for your help. :) I currently have my POD HD500X connected to my firewire digital interface via SP/DIF, and everything is sounding amazing. I can record to my DAW and everything sounds exactly same as headphones direct from the Pod. What I am Trying to do: I would life to record via SP/DIF, but also use my computer to edit my tones via USB. Problem: when I plug in the USB cable from my computer to the POD HD, the audio from the sp/dif shutoff, when I unplug the USB cable the audio starts working again. I am not sure if this is normal or not. I have have read both that it should work, and should not work. Is this actually possible? Is there a setting in the computer or POD HD that I should be looking at? Thanks You, Matt B.

  19. Hey guys, I was hoping to get some advice for a problem I'm having. I use my POD HD500x with my amp's head using the four-cable method (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZtY8bS-GQ0). Since I've been using it like that, it's been great with no problems at all. But recently my amp became too quiet to hear over the drums, and I've had to crank the volume to around 1 o'clock, while previously keeping it at around 8 o'clock would be plenty loud. I thought perhaps it was time to change my tubes (it was gonna have to happen one day anyway), so I retubed the head, and tried playing today and it was still too quiet. The amp's probably not the issue, because it is still very loud when I plug the guitar directly into the input If I use the amp, and in the FX Loop use a noise gate (fx send -> gate -> fx return), it's still just as loud If, in the FX loop, I use the POD, it makes it very quiet, even when my guitar is going directly into the input. So if I use a noise gate on the POD and put it in the FX Loop (fx send -> pod with only gate -> fx return), it's quiet, but as soon as I unplug it from the FX return, it's back to being loud. This makes me think that there might be something wrong with the POD, but when I practice at home using headphones it's fine. I've also checked to see if it's my cab, by swapping it with a different head (it's not) and if it's my head, by swapping it with a different cab (also not the issue). As far as I can remember I haven't touched any of the settings on the POD, the master volume is always to max, etc. I've attached what my settings are on the POD just in case, but I don't think that has anything to do with it, as I haven't changed anything and I really like the setup. If anyone can offer me some guidance or help troubleshooting it'd be much appreciated. I've got a feeling that nothing is actually broken, but I'm stumped.
  20. Hi, Recently my POD X3 Live stopped working; I had an electrician look at it and he found out that the power switch wasn't working so he's sorted that for me - so I can use my X3 again; but it brought home how old it is and that I should probably replace it but here's my problem. These are the amp models that I use on my X3; exclusively in a Dual Tone setup with each amp panned 80% left/right. 2002 ANGEL P-Ball (2002 ENGL Powerball ch2) - not on the HD500X 2002 Bomber Uber (2002 Bogner Uberschall) HD500X 2002 Bomber X-TC (2002 Bogner Ecstasy) - not on the HD500X 1985 Cali Crunch (Mesa/Boogie Mark II-C+) - not on the HD500X 2003 Connor 50 (2003 Cornford mk50h) - not on the HD500X 2002 Criminal (2002 Peavey® 5150) - Pay to Win HD500X 2003 Deity Crunch (2003 Diezel VH4 ch3) - not on the HD500X 2003 Deity Lead (2003 Diezel VH4 ch4) - not on the HD500X 2003 Deity’s Son (2003 Diezel Herbert) - not on the HD500X 2001 Diamond Plate (Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier ch3) - not on the HD500X 2001 Treadplate Dual (Mesa/Boogie Dual Recitifier ch3) HD500X 2001 Zen Master (Budda Twinmaster) - not on the HD500X The Firehawk has the models sure, but it doesn't have Dual Tone. So from what I can tell there's no upgrade path from the X3 without loosing functionality; unless the firehawk has some secret way of doing dual tone? Anyone have any comments about this? Thanks.
  21. Does anyone else use a POD HD500X with a Marshall DFX250. Im looking to hear from users who have achieved a great tone by using this amp or similar Solid State Marshall Amps. What way they connect the pod to their amp (front end, Returns, 4CM), output mode they use, 1/4 out setting, Stomp or Line Setting, Mixer Setting, I've tried different ways of connecting the pod to the amp & using different settings on the pod, but I'm not convinced I've found the best sounding set up option yet. Using the 4 Cable Method, I was thinking of using the pod amp models in the same way you'd use a Wampler Ace Thirty or similar amp modeling pedals (into a clean amp). I know this is preamp into preamp, but surley you can view the amp models on the pod as pedals. I find that using the Pod Preamp Models (ie. Plexi PRE) don't have the same drive or character as the full amp models on the Pod. Any tips would be great. Cheers
  22. I recently picked up the HD500X and decided to download some patches to kind of use to figure out my own patches. All of the patches I downloaded were metal patches and when I actually hook the HD500X into my amp the patches sound very very sharp, they can't be played without a headache. I recreated the patches myself on the HD500X and the sound is not sharp at all. I don't understand why the downloaded ones sound so bad. If this helps I'm using a Marshall Mg100HDFX with an LTD EC1000.
  23. I'm considering assembling a DT25 dream rig. In a nutshell, what are the advantages/disadvantages/differences between using an HD500 and HD500X. I know the "X" comes with more bells and whistles, but are those extras worth it from a dream rig perspective? I completely understand a lot depends on how much flexibility/how many features I may personally want. But like buying a cell phone, I don't want to pay for stuff that sounds impressive that in real world applications, I'll never use. As a point of reference, I primarily work in a touring act that does a tribute to the 60s Brit Invasion and American Classic Rock/Pop. However, I also work with an 80s tribute and sit in on shows that run the gamut from Standards to Metal. I currently have a Flextone III rig with JTVs. At present, I essentially use 6 basic user presets with different effect combinations. Working "globally" like this allows a generalize preset to work across most musical styles. Kind of a one size fits all strategy. Ultimately, I would like to be able to program custom presets for specific songs, and perhaps free up my hands from manual JTV switching between songs. Hoping to get some feedback from others who pondered the choice of HD Pod to get. Thanks!
  24. Can someone pls provide the steps, to how you get this dang vocoder to work? Also, can you engage and disengage, like using on LIVIN ON A PRAYER??
  25. Have anyone tried to connect a the POD HD500 / X through a 5.1 system? No matter how did you connect it. I mean, it could have been passing through an audio interface first. Just interested in the sound it would provide since 5.1 systems tend to sepparate frequencies very well and have dedicated speakers for almost all audible frequencies. Maybe a dumb question :-D but I love those kinds of questions that puts me to redefine things
