"Paul Hindmarsh from Line 6 shows us how the Line6 L2t Loudspeakers can be used alongside the POD HD500 to create an amazingly versatile setup that can be used in variety of scenarios" This Video was the Reason I upgraded my setup to include a L2t, I wanted to be able to get the amazing electric guitar sounds from my HD500X and the Amazing Variax Acoustic sounds in one single setup, I do own a DT25 Which I love but I have never figured out how to get a decent Variax acoustic sound to the FOH Mixer. Now that I have this setup, I have issues and questions to make it sound right. My main concern here is to find an answer or best advise on how to send a signal to the FOH Mixer for both the Electric Guitar Sounds and the Variax Acoustic Sounds. In a real life situation ( Live Setting ) When I connect the HD500X to the L2t via L6 Link, the default behavior HD500 to "Combo" and L2t to "Electric Guitar". - I am sure this is for a Reason. On that Video, Paul talks about programing both units for the desired sound behavior, for example: - He was using the L2t as an Electric Guitar mode and when changing to acoustic the L2t would reconfigure to Acoustic Guitar Mode. - I wonder what would be the ideal Output mode on the HD500 for this.. One thing that confuses me the most, he was MIKING the L2t!!.. So, This is telling me that there is not an easy way to get the best of both signals ( Electric & Variax Acoustic ) from the XLR outs of the HD500.. My questions is How can I Realisticaly use this setup in a Live situation and get the best of both worlds? I know I have already posted about this topic but I must be persistent and be able to figure something out based on the opinions and advise of what I think are some of the finest knowledgeable users and experts. Please Help.

Hello This is my first post in years. I just purchased a Line6 POD HD500X. I have installed the Line6 HD500X Edit software but It cannot open any of the tones from http://line6.com/customtone/ I have to first save the tone to an area of my hard drive, click file, open, use the drop down arrow to select "all files" to open anything I find on Customtone. Most of the tones I have found are .h5e extensions but I also cannot open .5xe directly unless I open the tone via the method I have listed above (File, open...etc...) Any tips or ideas? Thanks SynSin

I am ready to upgrade to HD ... considering the PRO or the 500x. However - I have a ux8 that I use as my primary interface, and i love the recording flexibility of PF 2.5. I assume I could run the Pod HD directly into the UX8 and continue to use the UX8 as my interface (but essentially run a dry signal through PF) Do you think this will create any software conflicts (i would still want to use the USB off of the HD500X to get access to the editor)? Will this create any latency problems? thanks!

Hello, Please help me figure what it the best way to configure this setup. This is what I have: Variax JTV69 - HD500X - L2t These are my Questions: 1.- What would be the optimum output mode on the HD500X when using with the L2t? - Studio/Direct? - should I always use the PRE amp models? 2.- What would be the optimum speaker mode on the L2t when using with the HD500X? - Does the L2t auto select the speaker mode depending on the preset? it auto selects Electric guitar - Are this speaker modes able to be saved in the HD500X presets? 3.- What would be the best Speaker mode of the L2t when using the Variax acoustic models thru the HD500? - How can I Best reproduce or send this sound thru the FOH? Your opinion and advice will be Greatly appreciated.

Well, decided to take a chance and ordered a 500x. I loaded my primary patch from my 500. I currently run 2 copies of the same patch, one having a dr z, one a %13. FS1 is midi assigned to swap between the 2, more or less acting as a amp channel switch with the other 7 FS' just being a pedalboard. The only problem is that when I swap I lose the current status of my "pedalboard". I'd hoped the 500x would allow me to do nothing more than turn on a second amp but, no luck. The preset is Wah> Compressor> Drive pedal> amp> Tremolo> Rotary cab> Delay Oh well, brighter LCD, hopefully easier to see LED's. Guess I'm going to stick with the 500x being my pedalboard and running stereo amps with EQ's post amp on my HD Pro. Hope this can help anyone running similar size presets decide whether an upgrade is worth while for them.

Well guys, I just uploaded the video. Hopefully this will answer some questions of how the two units compare when trying to build patches. Please share the video if you can!

Is the power supply for the HD500X the same as the HD500? I guess my real question is can I use my spare HD500 power supply with an HD500X if needed?

Hey guys, I thought I'd make this a separate post so that it's easier to find for anyone who might be having some issues. The patches for the HD500 do not import directly into the HD500X Edit software at this time. They use different file formats. There is a work-around that I posted earlier, and is being passed around now. All you have to do is change the extension on the patch files: For individual patches, change the extension from .h5e to .5xe For bundles, change the file extension from .h5b to .5xb For setlists, change the file extension from .h5s to .5xs I have found no inconsistencies among the patches from the HD500 Edit to the HD500X Edit using this method. I don't know if/when Line 6 will update the software to allow backwards compatibility, but in the mean time, you can use this method to get your 500 patches to your 500X. UPDATE: Someone else mentioned that you can drag-and-drop individual HD500 files into the tone slots in the 500X Edit software. I can confirm that this works. You will still need to change the file names for set-lists and bundles, though.

Considering that many Line6 customers purchased their HD500 till the last month, will current HD500 users be able to upgrade to X version at least for what concern the processor and software? That would keep them safe for further updates from the house that will be all targeted to the new HD500X version from now on (IMHO)... ;)

Hello guys! My brother's birthday is coming and I really want to surprise him, but I'm not sure whether to get him the M13 or the Pod HD500X, I need to confess that I never tried either of those two He has a really bad 80's amp and a mixing console where keyboards and vocals go to the PA Which one is better and why? He is an FX experimental guitaris t, knowing that which one is better for him? I'm a complete noob when it comes to digital proccesors and I just want him to have the best Thats why I need your help Thanks in advance. :)

Q: Why do presets I built from scratch sound different than similar factory presets? A: When creating new presets from scratch and comparing the tone to an existing factory preset with the same settings, please remember to check the mixer settings of that preset to see if they may be different than how you have it set in your own preset.? If the mixer settings of the factory preset are different than the mixer settings of another identical preset, they can both sound different than each other even though they share the same amp model and tone settings. The mixer settings are saved per preset and are NOT global.
