  1. In the past few months I've been trying to really get back in the swing of playing guitar again and trying to learn more about effects, chains, all kinds of fun stuff. I bought the HD500x, and I've been getting a lot more comfortable with understanding the interface and experimenting with the different effects looking for the best tone to play with my team. What I wanted to learn about here is why someone might use the dual amp feature instead of just a single amp. Obviously it's about finding creating the right tone, but I was curious of any existing resources on the benefits of using mixed dual amps or perhaps two of the same amps. Thanks in advance!
  2. Hey all. This is going to sound dumb but I would love to get some (constructive) thoughts on this... I use my POD HD500X as a pedalboard for its great reverbs, delays, overdrive, modulation, etc. through my VHT Special 6 Ultra combo for guitar and pedal steel guitar. My pedal steel does not have an onboard tone or volume control, which is pretty common for those. Many players use a compact preamp mounted to their steel guitar so they can make tweaks to volume and tone on the fly. I don't intend to use amp emulation most of the time but I may do it on occasion to go direct to the board at church or a gig. Question: what is your best method to use the HD500X as a pre-amp? Subquestion: can I use the hardware knobs to modify treble/mid/bass/presence/volume (sound) without emulating an amp or cabinet? Subqueston: can this be done without using a pedal chain slot? Currently I am using the HD500X with Studio/Direct output mode and input Z set to 3.5m or 1m to neutralize any color to the signal (many, many thanks to @hurghanico for their invaluable advice!) . But I'd like to be able to shape the tone and maybe add a little boost, ideally without using one of the available blocks in the pedal chain. May you have a very Merry Christmas, strong health and the unmistakeable peace of the presence of the Lord this season!
  3. Hey all, first post here, hopefully I am in the right forum for this question. Can anyone here confirm if the amp models in the plugin POD Farm Platinum are the same as the ones that could be found in the POD HD500X or POD HD PRO X with the add-on model packs? Trying to figure out if the plugin or the hardware is the more reasonable purchase for myself. Thanks!
  4. Hey all, I know this is a common topic but I still haven't found a satisfying answer so I'm going to ask it... How can I remove the tone coloring that occurs on the HD500X when in stompbox mode and all effects (and amp models) are OFF? I can tell when I go to the tuner and use the bypass mode that with all effects off, the 500X is still affecting my tone. In tuner bypass mode, the signal to amp is dry and unaffected do the 500x *should* be capable of not coloring my signal. In regular play, with all fx off and the amp model disabled, the tone is darker and the signal is weaker. This is really frustrating because what I wanted the 500X is for it's stompbox effects not an amp modeler. I know about the 4 cable method and using the modeling for the preamp toy amp, but that will be a last resort. I just really want the effects and my amp's tone! Please help! 5. No more. Just no more. I f*cking tired of this. Brand New laptop with win 10= blue screen of death. I tried literally everything, Just everything. And it goes to bsod again and again. Really? When i bought it i thought it's a dream machine. Now i see, that it is a piece of garbage. Dear line 6 support, i hope when you die, and you want to go to the heaven, you ll see bsod every f*cking time, when you try to do so. And i hope your company will vanish into dust for such sh*tty customer service. I'll switch to another interface, because i want to make music, not lollipop with settings, drivers, and all sh*t! Best community, f*cked corporation.
  6. On the POD HD500X, is there a way to move (or maybe copy and paste) a preset from one setlist to another? I want to gather the presets I use most often together into one of the empty user setlists, so I don't have to move back and forth between different setlists all the time. The manual shows how to move a preset within a setlist, but not how to move it to a different setlist. Can this be done?
  7. Hello! First time poster here. I'm thinking of upgrading to a POD Go from my trusty old HD500X, but I'm not sure I'll be able to run some of my current patches. My main concern is a D.I/clean fender style patch with 2 pitch bend pedals (one an octave above and one an octave below), plate reverb and digital or mod delay. I use this patch quite a lot for clean/ambient tones! As for everything else I use it's usually nothing more than a standard clean, transparent OD or high gain tones with reverb, delay, noise gate, chorus. All of these are mix and match depending on the gig/song but I'd never really exceed the four blocks I can edit apart from the odd volume or EQ that's included in the non-editable blocks! But I would definitely use the four blocks with pretty much all lead/clean tones. I'll be using it live and as an FX unit for demo recording on my PC. If it's the case that the LT would be a better fit I don't mind too much (I'd originally planned on getting a Boss GT-1000... sacrilege I know). Any help/advice would be appreciated!
  8. I’m not getting sound from my HD500x when I try to go direct to my Scarlett 2i2 when I go out from the 1/4†out. I’m running protools and I’ve also tried the usb method it shows up in the playback engine but I still get no sound is there a way to go directly out of the POD into the Scarlett 2i2 with a 1/4†jack? I get sound when I play directly from my guitar into the interface but as soon as I try to go direct from the POD I lose all sound and I get nothing.
  9. Hi folks! Just arrived my hd500x 2 days ago. Got a fresh pack of EB regular slinky (. 10 /. 46) to replace in my RR1. Soooo..... Question is (never tryed pitch glide or D tunning): Op A) Tune std E and down to whatever with pitch glide. Op B) Take advantage of the high tensión in this pack (tunning to std E requires 5 springs set in my schaller double locking trem). Tune D and use pitch glide for std tunnig and even lower (C, B) The op B came while thinking 5 springs means there's a lot of tension in that pack. Trem, action & relief adjust is no issue, just pain in the axe. I read U. Thanks.
  10. i bought a pod HD500x a few weeks back, as like everyone else i'm in lockdown, i was going to go for the Helix, but i didn't need all the ins and outputs and the IR, so i bought a brand new 500x and saved £900 pounds or a $1000. what a brilliant effects processor , and to say its about 14 years old, brilliant. all the tones that come with the 500x are no good, enough to put you off the 500x, but i made some myself and heres the download link, i also had a old unopended audio cassette so i used one side of it as a screen protector see pictures. enjoy the tones, i use an american fender professional strat with HSS pickups and headphones, and if using an amp i have a basic marshall 50w, 500x pluggen in front. all tones sound brilliant, even my killer of giants tone that can be used for the intro to killer of giants on neck pickup selector 4 single coil may look basic screen protector but it works if something ever dropped on it http://www.mediafire.com/file/4884tgyovajrfe5/fav_tones_500x.rar/file some tones here , use headphones, american professional HSS strat used, https://line6.com/customtone/profile/6six6 stay safe, stay 2 meters apart and rock and roll
  11. Hail, folks! I'm having a bit of a issue here. First things first: I own a POD HD500X, and a ESP Ltd AX-50 (cheap guitar but do the job for my metalworks). So... I used George L's cables for many years. The thing is, I lost my cables. And actually, they aren't that good as many people say. Got to get brand new cables them. Ernie Ball Braided, the weapon of choice. Ok. So here's the problem... In my country there's ONLY 25ft long cables. That's 7 meters. And I need TWO. One connecting the guitar to the HD500X, and other to connect the HD500X to the amp. Two cables, 50ft long. It's just too much. Actually, who needs that!? But, again, it's the only size for sell in my country - welcome to the third world. So what now? I will obliterate my signal!? I am a metal player, but yeah, I do love blues and other stuff... I'm working on some Eric Johnson's song too. The thing is, some people said that IN THIS CASE it just doesn't matter, because I use digital effects, a processor - therefore the only worry to be concerned is the length of the cable between the GUITAR and the POD. 1- That's true!? Anyone with a solid opinion about it!? Also, some guys said that "you play extreme metal, higain and stuff... Don't worry, your tone will be fine. Let the Stratoguys deal with that". Some said "if you put ACTIVE PICKUPS this wouldn't be a problem, because active pickups kick-lollipop". These stuff... 2- Higain is unnefected by 50ft cable length? I mean, at least no one would notice it? 3- Active pickups does break the rules and keep my tone 100%? Hope you guys can help me. And yeah, I do want that specific cable. Thanks by now!
  12. In trying to use my HD500x as an audio interface, the audio level is EXTREMELY low... barely audible. Anyone else experiencing this or have a fix for it?
  13. I need some explanation on this product . I use to own this product, and bought the Line 6 Metal pack. But sold the hd500x. Can i reuse this on a new hd500x ( Metal Pack ) ? Also, i noticed that some web site mention the line 6 hd500x includes the " Now includes the HD Fully Loaded Amp Bundle - a $99 Value ", are all the hd500x have this or what exactly does this mean thanks for any help
  14. I just bought a DT50 and am waiting for it's arrival, and though I've looked I've not found an answer to this question: Do effect blocks after the amp model on an HD500X preset act like they are in the effects loop of the DT amp or are they all placed in front of the amp's preamp?
  15. Hi Everyone, I Have a music room that consists of a HD500x, roland edrums, and a Tascam Model 24 analog mixer that has 2 EV xlz 12" powered speakers for outputting the sound. My problem is that I cannot get a good guitar sound through the mixer (or my old Fostex digital mixer, which is why I got the new Tascam). I can XLR mono from the HD 500x to the EV Powered Speaker and get an amazing sound, but if I use the same 500x patch to the a mixer it sounds horrible (squished, harsh, thin, terrible...). I like high gain tones like the Bogner and Slo amoung others. There was a time when I could get an amazing tone just through 500x and powered speaker but when I hit a low B (especially with the neck pick up) my tweeters would rattle. After many years of cursing the HD series (my POD 2.0 always sounded great for what it was), I found that if I decreased the bass and treble setting on the powered speaker and lowered the 120hz db (I think) in the global EQ setting on the 500x, the rattle went away. I am concerned that if my speakers are eq'ed for my guitar, that the drums, bass, vocal, mp3's... will not sound right. My first and foremost goal is great sounding guitar, then I can hone in on getting the other things to sound good and all blend in. I guess my question is, is there a way to make everything sound good? Bands do it every day, I know I'm missing something. Thanks in advance of any advice!
  16. I recently purchased the HD500X after owning the HD400 for a while and it got me thinking if it’s possible to use the HD500X as an IEM board? I play for a church and instead of personal mixers, we use on-stage monitors. I found that this is quite inconvenient at most points. My question is, is it possible to run a 1/4 through the aux-in or an XLR into the HD500X that has the audio from the other instruments and vocals, but not run the monitor mix back out through the PA? I know that the Helix could perform such task, but could the HD500X do the same? I feel like if it’s possible, but I’m unsure if it could be done. Thank you in advance!
  17. I have a POD HD500X and I am trying to work out how to link it to an iPad for use with the OnSong app. So ultimately the plan would be to have commands written into OnSong via the metadata that would change the bank/patch on the POD for each song as required. I am understanding there may also be an opportunity to use the POD to send commands back to OnSong such as scrolling up/down etc. (at the moment I use an AirTurn pedal via Bluetooth so I could get rid of this). For anyone kind enough to respond, I have only very basic understanding of MIDI and use an iPad 4 running iOS 10.3.2. I am guessing I need something that converts both MIDI in (patch change) and MIDI out (scrolling in OnSong) to Apple lightning? I am in Australia where the cost of some things can be a little high so I don't want to waste money (and time - things take a while to ship here...) and would like some advice on what accessories would be needed to make it work now and into the future. I understand only the Helix works via USB so this leaves me stuck with MIDI ports on the HD500X for now. Thanks for any advice/links etc.
  18. Good evening! Getting my HD500x tomorrow and I'm pretty stoked about it. I'm wrestling with the best way to hook it up, though. I'm wanting to get stereo guitar AND a dry signal for reamping in all in one fell swoop. I'm currently using a Scarlett Solo and it only has 1 XLR in and one 1/4" in so I'm pretty sure that's going to have to get upgraded. Other than that, what is the best way to achieve this? I know it's going to be cables all over the friggin place, but I'm only going to be using it in a studio environment (at first, at least) so it isn't an issue...I'll get it all hooked up and cable managed and be done with it. Any input is GREATLY appreciated!! Thank you!
  19. Hi, I just acquired a POD HD500X, and I want to activate the HD Fully Loaded Bundle, but I can't Please help,
  20. Hi all, I know theres a million questions about the pedals not working on these boards, and a simple calibration always seems to solve it. I have just purchased an HD500X used, and the pedal seems to work intermittently. It will work pretty good for 5 minutes or so then just stop working entirely. I have tried calibrating it, but when it goes to testing it the scale just sits at 0 instead of moving through to 255. I can not get it to register any sort of input at this point. Any ideas on what could be causing it, if it is hardware or software related? Any responses and advice are much appreciated!
  21. [Hi! Long-time player - first-time poster] I'm using my HD500x in Pedalboard mode with different effects assigned to each of the 8 foot switches. I would like to assign WAH and VOLUME to the Expression pedals, EXP 1 and EXP 2, but cannot figure out how to do that. I can take one of the FS and change it to WAH and then change the assignment to EXP 1, but then I lose the effect I had on that FS. I feel like this should be easy to do, but I just can't figure it out for some reason. What am I missing here? Thanks for your help.
  22. Recently had to move to win10 and trying to get the drivers installed. Monkey will reports the drivers are not installed, tell it to run the install, it goes through, runs the driver install, when it says to plug in the device the next step where you should get a popup asking if you want it to install fails to happens and winows says the drivers are installed. but when you check device manager, it says no drivers are installed, and monkey then again says no drivers are installed. rinse repeat. the device is being detected when it gets plugged in so at the hardware level everything is good. its the actual drivers/installer that just WILL NOT install here. im at a loss as to where go to next with this one i had zero issues with this under win7
  23. Hi everybody, I have a challenge - not a huge problem but annoying: I have a POD500x connect with a MIDI enabled amp (H&K Tubemeister 40). I use the POD in stompbox mode and have three switches to control the amp's channels (clean, crunch, lead) in power soak mode. Whenever I switch presets, the amp goes back into "default mode", i.e. clean without power soak. To fix that I have to tap again the right channel in the preset after switching. What I'd like to achieve is changing presets without this extra step (so staying in the previous mode OR ensuring the new preset sends a midi signal with power soak on). Any ideas how to achieve this?
  24. Hi everyone I have my HD500x connected to a stacked amp via 4 cable method. i would like to create a preset that allows me to switch between real and modeled amp. i understand the magic must be with the send/return FX unit. Can’t get it working though. any ideas or hints? thx
