Hello, I searched the internet for help on using Helix Edit on Linux. I have no problem running the native Helix plugin under Arch Linux using Yabridge, which works flawlessly. However, I still need to perform firmware updates for my Helix Floor and enjoy the convenience of editing presets using Helix Edit. Since I couldn’t find anything online, I decided to come up with a solution myself. I can confirm that I was successful in running Helix Edit on Linux. Below are the steps to achieve it: 1. Install Wine and Required Dependencies Make sure you have Wine and its required dependencies installed. - sudo pacman -S wine wine-mono wine-gecko winetricks - yay -S wineasio - register the ASIO driver within Wine: wine regsvr32 wineasio.dll 2. Install Line 6 Helix Edit in Wine Download the Helix Edit installer Run the installer using Wine: wine path/to/helixedit_installer.exe Follow the installation prompts. 3. Workaround for USB Connection Using USB Passthrough with VirtualHere (USB Sharing): Since Wine doesn't natively support USB devices like the Line 6 Helix, a solution is to use a USB-over-network tool like VirtualHere, which allows USB devices to be shared with Wine over a virtual connection. Steps for VirtualHere: Installation: - yay -S virtualhere-server-bin - yay -S virtualhere-client Run the VirtualHere USB Server on your Linux machine: sudo ./vhuitarm -b Or use the appropriate version for your machine. Run the VirtualHere Client in Wine: wine path/to/virtualhere_client.exe The USB device (Helix) will now appear in VirtualHere, and you can "attach" it inside Wine (Alternative to VirtualHere) Configuring USB Device Access via usbip: For a more manual solution, you can use USB/IP to share your USB device and try to access it from Wine. Install usbip: sudo pacman -S usbip Load the necessary kernel modules: sudo modprobe vhci-hcd Find the USB device: usbip list -l Bind the USB device (replace <busid> with the correct ID from the previous command): sudo usbip bind -b <busid> The device should now be accessible within Wine.

I had something kind of scary happen this past Friday. I downloaded the Helix version 3.15 software, and ran it. It stopped (froze up) after a few seconds of running. I did notice that it was deleting older version files, which at first, did not alarm me. However, after it failed to continue, I had to close my computer and reboot. Then, when I started Helix Edit, it opened, but was completely blank - no software patches, or setlists, or ANYTHING showed up. (See screen capture, below) I had already backed up all my patches, so I wasn't too worried about that. So, if experience trouble with the update, you can do the following, and you should be fine. 1 - Download the 3.15 update. 2 - UNinstall ALL the Helix Edit software from your computer ( no need to uninstall Monkey, or Variax Workbench) 3 - install fresh, using the Helix 3.15 update software you downloaded in step 1 4 - install the 3.15 firmware from the Line6 website 5 - perform a system reset (Recommended by Line6) 5 - restore all patches using the saved backup SO - PLEASE make sure you create a backup before you try to update to 3.15. Also, make sure you do as instructed by Line6, and install the 3.15 firmware after the software update, AND perform a factory reset (on Helix, this is done by holding down buttons 9 and 10 while powering up.) After all that is complete, you can restore your backup. By the way, your back up will preserve any MIDI mappings you've made (I was grateful for that!) including CC's, PC's, as well as input and output settings, IR's, global settings, and any settings such as custom tunings, guitar models, etc.

Hello, After I add IR's to the list in Helix Edit, my Helix LT (about 1 month old) will only let me select the IR in slot 1. It does not matter which IR I put in that slot, I can only select that one with the physical LT. However within Helix Edit I can select a different IR and assign it to the preset just fine and it shows on the LT. But if I get on the LT and turn the knob to select a different one, the original one disappears. Some things I've tried: 1. Helix Edit: Drag and Drop the IR's, and have also tried "Import" 2. Swapped around the order of the IR's in Helix Edit 3. Deleted the IR block on the LT and added it back in 4. Confirmed that I am running v2.82 on both Helix Edit and the LT 5. Running Windows 10 I've attached screenshots of the Helix Edit screens. ~Pic1 shows the list of IR's in Edit ~Pic2 shows the IR selection in the preset in Edit ~Pic3 shows the dropdown in the preset that displays the list of available IR's in Edit, but they do not show up in the LT Any ideas on how to remedy this? Thanks! Chris

Hi, This must be a simple problem unique to me. Because I can’t find any info on it anywhere. I just purchased a HX Stomp. I then purchased a couple preset packs (definitely jumped the gun on that as I didn’t even have HX Edit installed). I now have HX Edit installed and working for me. But I cannot find anywhere how to download the preset packs I purchased. I have looked all over....I think. But nothing. I sure I am overlooking something obvious! I can see them in my purchases and there is an activation code there. But I can’t figure out how to get them. Thanks for the help.

Is there a way to show pedalboard mode in helix edit? I would like to be able to toggle between edit mode and an overview of the pedalboard the way it would be laid out. Is it there and i, just not seeing it?

I followed the instructions in the latest Helix Edit and Helix Owners manuals about loading IRs into the IR Index on the left side of the Helix Edit screen. The Helix Edit and Helix unit are connected while experiencing the following: 1. Tried dragging the files as well as clicking on Import. I get a notice that the IRs are being imported. The names of the IRs appear in the Index, but when I create an IR Block in a preset the name of the IR does not appear in the IR Select parameter field in the bottom right screen. It says Empty, even though my Helix shows the name. I can move up and down with the toggle arrows in Helix Edit and see the IRs change on the Helix, but Helix Edit screen still says Empty. 2. Now the odd thing is that in the IR Index, you can right click on the IR name and get a menu that includes Import, Copy, Clear, etc. But the only item in the menu that is not ghosted is Import. I cannot clear, copy or paste any IRs in the Index. 3. When I close Helix Edit and re-open it all the IRs I loaded are gone. Why aren't they being saved in the Index? There are no menu items in Helix Edit for saving anything other than a preset. As of 7/14/18 my Helix and Helix Edit app versions / firmware are up to date.
