  1. Can you use Helix Native Plug-in in Pro tools with the helix floor? While recording I want to be able to use the presets on my helix floor and upload them onto my band members helix native. This would allow me to use the helix floor as the controller for the tone that is being recorded thus allowing me to change the tone after if needed while listening back, this would then remove the re—amping process and need for wet-dry recording. They could communicate similar to helix Edit and helix floor, and allow for real time adjustments and tone thanks
  2. Hello - I followed the instructions in Line6 website to upgrade but my computer crashed during the upgrade process. Now my Helix floor displays "Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode!" with :-3 error code on the top left corner. Should I send the unit back? I was planning on playing with it all weekend and now I am screwed. It seems the update progress was about 50% when the computer crashed. I tried uploading pictures here but does not work, will try to reply with pictures. Thanks for your help.
  3. Greetings, I used a POD XT Live with a Variax 300 for a few years and I remember using my PC to create my own tones, including a custom metal tone, 12 string acoustic tone, and a sitar tone. The Pod came with a physical manual that was easy to flip through, and I had no problem editing things with the PC for both the POD and the Variax. The Helix Floor and the Shuriken are different beasts, and I am experimenting with the software and trying to compare it to the Pod/old Variax stuff. There are many new options and features that I need to learn about, and I find it easy to get lost in the options, or add something that mucks up the tone. I was in a motorcycle accident which messed with my memory a little bit, and I can't recall exactly how I used the old software as far as combining my Variax edits with the POD edits. Other than reading through the PDF multiple times, what are some good sources to learn about each feature of the Helix? I will be looking to create a unique metal tone, a couple of good acoustic tones, and will make a sitar tone, to start with. I am also looking to experiment with alternate tunings. I will be looking to record with the Helix, and I want to learn about using the MIDI capabilities. I am going to be getting MIDI software which will allow me to play different instrument sounds with the guitar, and I am wondering if I can somehow implement such software with the footswitches on the Helix. I am also wondering if it is possible to record what I play on the Shuriken/Helix into a *.mid file for further editing, or to import them into Powertab or some other tablature software. I have a Roland UM-One USB/Midi cable, with the in and out connected to the Helix. Any resources to help a newbie would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks! Quietus
  4. Hey folks! Looking for some help here regarding snapshots as I can't seem to find my specific question in any forums or tutorials... I downloaded a few free presets, and they are great, but were created as individual presets for each tone. (ex. Preset 1 = Clean, Preset 2 = Rhythm, Preset 3 = Lead, etc...) I am wanting to copy those individual Presets, and paste it into one preset utilizing different snapshots, but can't seem to find a way to do this in HX Edit. I currently have my Helix in Snapshot mode, and would like to consolidate these great tones into 1 preset. Is there a quick and easy way? Thank you all for the help.
  5. I've bought the line 6 helix LT second hand. I think its not the original power cable, instead they gave me a 10A 250V power cable, will it be healthy for the helix? or should I search for another power cable that's just 240V?? Because the helix LT Power Requierements are from 100-240V
  6. I’m experiencing a curious bug with HX Edit 2.91 and wasn’t sure if it’s a known bug or not. when I’m modifying a preset by doing copy/paste of blocs from another preset, eventually this original preset from which I’m copying blocs appears totally empty in HX Edit. On Helix floor it is still appearing and playing correctly. Then For a while all I need to do is select in HX Edit a very close preset, say 9A if the preset is 9B, and reselect that preset again and everything is fine. Eventually even this little trick doesn’t work and I have to exit the app, reboot the Helix floor ( not sure if it’s really necessary) and restart HX Edit. I know It’s not a big « bug », but it would be fine not to experience this problem everytime I’m working on a preset. It appears on 2.91, don’t know about 2.90 since it was on my Helix for only a day or so.
  7. I have a problem with volume pedal and their settings. On some of my Patches the volume goes from 0-100. There is no gradual rise in the volume. On others 10% sounds like 10%. When I look at the setting they seem to be set the same way. Is there something I am missing? I just want to be able to increase my volume pedal and have the volume increase accordingly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  8. Mods remove if not allowed (didn't see a classifieds section). Looking to trade a brand new Helix Floor unit for a Rack/Control. Had it less than a month, never put on the floor, the thing is brand spankin new (box and everything it comes with included). Will come with Brand new Helix backpack Just feel more comfortable with a rack unit for live gigs, seeing if there are any people out there open to a trade... Thanks
  9. Hi everyone, First time poster. I have read through the topics here on the forum but it seems like the topic has not been covered. Been using the helix floor for a year now. Great piece of gear! It is in my understanding that using snapshot is the way to go to change parameters with a patch without the ''sound gap'' you would get by switching presets. So I've been using snapshots for in-song changes, and presets for song-to-song (which seems to be common). Until now everything worked fine. I updated to 2.82 lately. I have a couple of presets based on the same ''rig''; the only thing that tends to stay the same would be the amp settings. Effects and snapshot changes. Last week I started to experience a ''sound gap'' (like the one you get when you change presets). Strangely, it seems to be related to when 2 presets are the same, within the setlist. I tried to build the preset from scratch instead of copying it, but as soon as I match the amp settings, I get that problem when I go through the snapshots. I don't know if someone encountered a similar problem, or even if I did explained it well, but if anymore encountered a similar issue, or have a fix... Thanks in advance for your help. English is not my primary language but I'll try to give more details if some of you have question Thank you, Cédric
  10. I have recently purchased Helix Native in its 1.82 version and upgraded my Helix LT to 2.82. I was hoping to control Helix Native directly from my Helix LT, (switch Helix native presets from footswitches, use EXP pedal....) but i did not find any indication that this feature was existing. Can somebody tell me if this is possible ? or will it be possible soon ?
  11. Hello all, I know this topic has probably been covered, but I couldn't find all the answers I was looking for. First, I am strictly an at home hobbyist with no gigging aspirations in the near or distant future yet. I have not been playing guitar very long, but I was looking to upgrade my amp and stumbled upon the helix route. It intrigues me because I feel I can get more tones at lower volumes than a tube amp. Also, I like to play a lot of different styles (John Mayer all the way to high gain stuff Killswitch, Tool ect), so the amp/cab simulation might be a better route than having multiple amps and pedals. So I have a couple questions. 1. Stomp, LT, or Floor? Is the Stomp too limiting with 6 blocks? Will I be looking to upgrade to a bigger model in a year as my effects and playing knowledge increases, or is it perfect for my situation? For a regular Joe schmo, is the floor worth the extra money over the LT? (I am in no rush to buy right away, I want to do my research, and will save the money to buy what's best for my situation.) Also, any disadvantages to buying used when it comes to software/registering the unit? 2. For my situation, do I get studio monitors or a FRFR PA like the headrush units. I want to be able to play/ practice without having to wear headphones all of the time. What would sound best for all genres at moderate volumes? Any brands or suggestions (Moderately priced) 3. What's the deal with a headphone amp? Saw someone say the LT does not have a headphone amp and that they would need a separate one. Do I need one to use headphones in my scenario? 4. Last one, a lot of people say you will not get the "amp in the room sound" and will sound like a amp micced up through a PA. What exactly does that mean. For me, the new inexperienced player, will I even be able decipher the difference because my ear isn't trained? I've never micced the amp I have now. I know to some, these questions may seem elementary, but I'm ignorant in the multi effects realm and still green in the amp/pedal/gear world. I was just looking to avoid playing the tone chasing GAS game if the Helix can cover a lot of the ground. I also know a lot of people will tell me that I have to try them. I respect that, but I want your guys advice because I am so Uneducated in the area of multieffects, I'm not even sure I could make that decision solely off 30 minutes to an hour of noodling around with a unit in a store. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
  12. HX Edit 2.82 bug with Customizing a Footswitch Label in command center. Cannot name more than one footswitch. I have to go on the Helix Floor directly to name them. Is it a known bug? I haven’t seen anything about this in the forum. thanks in advance.
  13. I have a Helix Floor unit in excellent condition that I'd like to trade for the rack mount with the controller. Also, I will include the Gator G-TOUR PEDALBOARD-LGW ATA Wood Tour Case. I am a touring musician out of Nashville and I want to build a rack for touring to include my IEMs, Wireless guitar unit, and rack effects. So, moving to the rack model will just make life easier. (I hope LOL!) If you're interested feel free to email me at blackburnguitar@gmail.com and we can work out the details! Thank you!

    Helix floor vs rack

Ehy guys I have a question. I’m going to buy a new helix but I don’t know which one. Is there any software or hardware difference between the rack version (with the controller and a expression pedal) and the floor version? Thank you all
  15. Hey everyone, This is my first post as I'm new to the Helix, so thanks in advance for any help! TL/DR at the end... I've been playing professionally for about 13 years, all that time using my GT-8 into a PA (my version of an FRFR, I suppose, when I built it all those years ago). My main flow is musical theatre orchestra pits, so a lot of shows require a crazy amount of tones and switching. I recently got a helix while I was in a long run – I left the GT-8 at the gig and started playing with the Helix and building some tones. Fast forward to last week and I started rehearsals for a new show. It's a heavier-ish rock and roll show and they're setting us all up Fender Super Sonic heads that will go into Palmer load boxes. Here's the thing – I've been programming patches for this show, getting really insane into amps/heads/speaker cabinets/IRs for each specific tune (some of them are real songs from the '70s, some of them are songs heavily inspired by artists from the '70s, so there are some rather specific tones I'm trying to land on and that the composer and music director are looking for). Yesterday during the first load-in from the rehearsal space to the theatre, I semi-casually mentioned to the sound designer (when discussing saving space) that, oh, we could possibly get rid of the Super Sonic for my rig since everything can be handled by this amazing piece of technology I have at my feet. I'm not sure if he didn't understand what I was saying, if he's not familiar with the power of the Helix, or if he just has a very specific vision in his brain, but he more or less squashed that idea right away. I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers – especially when the sound designer has the credits that this guy does and they brought him in from New York just to do this show – so I just said, "Great! We'll find a way to implement it all." So, my ultimate question is this – what's the best way to implement the tube head, Palmer load box, and my Helix? I imagine it's something with the 4cm, but I also don't want to ditch all of the amp/speaker emulations I've worked on. I will if I have to, but I'm hoping to keep the Roland Jazz Chorus sound for a few things and the Marshal Plexi sound for a few things and the Vox sound for a few things ... you get the idea. Sometimes it might be rad to use the Super Sonic in the chain, as well, but – then am I able to use that head in my chain (4cm in an effects loop?) but still use a speaker/mic model? Sorry if any of the questions are dumb or obvious – I'm just still new to the Helix and all its glory. Plus, it's super rare that a theatre will set us up with an amp and load box and not rely on us for all of our own equipment, so it's just not something I'm super practiced on. TL/DR: Best way to implement Helix, Fender Super Sonic Head, and Palmer load box while being able to use the sound of the Fender head AND/OR amp/speaker models I've built in the Helix depending on the patch. Thanks so much again, all! Cheers, PJ
  16. Hi, fellow Helixoids! I've just released 13 new Helix sound sets, available at the Helix Marketplace. I've taken an unusual approach: While we all know that Helix is great at mimicking classic analog gear, I've been exploring Helix as the unique and powerful instrument it is, with an emphasis on startling new tones that could only have been created in Helix. I think these sounds will appeal to restlessly creative players in search of new tones and textures. (Admittedly, they're probably not suitable for REO Speedwagon cover bands.) Each board sell for $13 and has its own demo video at the above link. There's also a combo back offering all 13 sets at a 40% discount. Its demo video, which provides a taste of all 13 products, is a good starting point if you're curious. Thanks for listening! :)
  17. While updating my Helix floor, it gave me "Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode" message on the pedal. After waiting half an hour it was still the same, so I canceled the process. Upon Rebooting the HELIX same message showed up again and again. I tried changing usb cables and usb ports on my pc and it still did not work. WHAT IS HAPPENING? I need my pedal back :( Help!
  18. Just attempted the 2.81 release update, got halfway through (according to the red bar in the updater) had one "click to continue" then it all went to hell Idled for over four hours. No motion on the progress bar, Helix floor display reads :-3 in the upper left, Boot Failure.Entered Update Mode! with the squiggly line animation underneath. HELP! I wanted to use this at a gig tonight!!!!
  19. I have had my Helix Floor for 3 years, and as time has gone by, my tab/tuner switch has started to malfunction. When I hold to enter tuning mode I will sometimes get a tempo change to a very low tempo too, and as I press the switch to exit tuning mode, I will sometimes get a tempo change to tempo 240. As the warranty has expired, I opened the chassis to see if there were any components inside that could be changed, but it looks like the micro switches which are underneath the foot switches are hardwired to the system board inside. Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Can the microswitches perhaps be cleaned in some way using a special electro-lubricate of sorts? Or does anyone know what it costs to change the whole top system board inside? I was hoping for a fix with the latest patch, since the release notes said something about dirty switches and a bug fix, but the problem remains.
  20. Last 2 shows when I turned up to the show the settings in amp and cab blocks had reverted to the default settings that came with the helix. They were fine during sound check after which I powered the unit down. Powered up for the show and bingo... WTF?? Last two shows same problem only the first time it happened the unit was left powered up. Any ideas?? many thanks! don
  21. I just purchased an EP1-L6 expression pedal and I'm having trouble setting it up to use as a Wah with my Helix floor. I want to be able to use the Wah at lower volumes, without having to change my guitar volume. Using it as EXP 1 for the Wah on my unit doesn't allow that. I tried using HX edit and the Helix screen without success. Could someone enlighten me on the process? or isn't it do-able? Thank you
  22. Hello All, I am in a quandary. I have four snapshots set on the top line and also have some foot switches at the bottom. I ONLY want to erase the four footswitches at the bottom not the actual effect because I want to use the four slots below the Snapshots to control Ableton for live performance. I know how to assign MIDI controls so I am good there. I also DO NOT want to erase the effect just where it is on the scribble strip. When I hit more it goes into full stomp mode that I will put the effects. Any help on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.
  23. Now online!: https://gum.co/HelixMidiController This is a premium MIDI template made for the Line 6 Helix devices. Hardware and software requirements: - Line 6 Helix (Floor, Rack, LT) - Apple iPad - MIDI Interface (Wireless: Yamaha MD-BT01. Wired: Roland UM-ONE MKII + Apple CCK USB3 read here for some suggestions) - MIDI Designer PRO 2 (IOS app, sold separately) Early notes: V1.0 is online!! PDF manual coming soon. Lifetime support, future updates will be free for existing costumers. A bit of tech stuff: The operation of this MIDI template is based on the current MIDI implementation available on Line 6 Helix devices. This means that the limits of what or how can be controlled are determined by the manufacturer (to a large extent). The practical translation of this fact is that: There are some functions in the Helix that are not controllable, simply because there is no continuous controller (CC) assigned to whatever. There are some things in the Helix that receive MIDI but they do not send it. A clear example are the footswitches (FS). For this reason, it is not possible to show a synchronized status (on/off) on the controller's screen. For this type of controls, it will only be possible to send a status change message, so the buttons will be of a momentary type. Helix does not send the names of presets or setlists via MIDI -something that would normally use SYSEX messages or the Line 6's own protocol (but we will be able to write and store those names on the controller anyway). Description: 1-Main Screen. From this screen you can control the main functions of your Helix. Some elements receives the MIDI information that your Helix sends and display it on the screen, such as bank and program changes. Others are used to send commands to activate and deactivate elements such as footswitches. A few elements are bi-directional, such as looper controls (for the most part). As you already know, the Helix does not send us setlists names. However, you will be able to rename your Setlists on the controller easily from this screen, simply by pressing the "Setlist" button to write names coincident with those of your Helix. 2-Setlist Screen The main function of this screen is to navigate comfortably between the eight banks of your Helix, but we can also select a preset in each of the 8 banks, and toggle between them at the touch of a button. There are also controls that receive information from your Helix, like those two large screens of Setlist and Preset. The most important looper controls are also present here. For advanced users: the setlist names are also editable! So you can manually write the patches names on your controller to match your Helix. 3- Preset Screen On this screen, the idea is to have quick and immediate access to all the Presets (and Setlists) of your Helix. Snapshot selection controls are also present, as well as the looper, tap tempo and tuner buttons. 4- Favourites Screen Easy access to your 48 favorites, just pushing labeled buttons. A good way to sort your most used presets, regardless of where the hell(ix) they are found. If you need more buttons, you can even duplicate this screen to double the amount available!
  24. I just uploaded my first Helix video, and following a suggestion from a forum member I created a patch which takes the output of the guitar's piezo pickup into path 1, and takes the output of the iRig Acoustic clip-on microphone into path 2. I have placed all of the wet effects on path 1 and kept the iRig Acoustic path dry. In Logic Pro X I armed 2 tracks, one mono and one stereo (the stereo track is from path 1 with the wet effects). I have given the stereo track a little spread in Logic. I would love for experienced Helix users to critique my patch and give me suggestions for improvement. @datacommando gave me the idea. Thanks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjGEpsuo-ZM
  25. You know it's true. I'm loving the Helix, and this is the way I currently have it set up. https://www.instagram.com/p/BuhdlDSHLx0/
