While updating my Helix floor, it gave me "Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode" message on the pedal. After waiting half an hour it was still the same, so I canceled the process. Upon Rebooting the HELIX same message showed up again and again. I tried changing usb cables and usb ports on my pc and it still did not work. WHAT IS HAPPENING? I need my pedal back :( Help!

I have had my Helix Floor for 3 years, and as time has gone by, my tab/tuner switch has started to malfunction. When I hold to enter tuning mode I will sometimes get a tempo change to a very low tempo too, and as I press the switch to exit tuning mode, I will sometimes get a tempo change to tempo 240. As the warranty has expired, I opened the chassis to see if there were any components inside that could be changed, but it looks like the micro switches which are underneath the foot switches are hardwired to the system board inside. Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Can the microswitches perhaps be cleaned in some way using a special electro-lubricate of sorts? Or does anyone know what it costs to change the whole top system board inside? I was hoping for a fix with the latest patch, since the release notes said something about dirty switches and a bug fix, but the problem remains.

Last 2 shows when I turned up to the show the settings in amp and cab blocks had reverted to the default settings that came with the helix. They were fine during sound check after which I powered the unit down. Powered up for the show and bingo... WTF?? Last two shows same problem only the first time it happened the unit was left powered up. Any ideas?? many thanks! don

I just purchased an EP1-L6 expression pedal and I'm having trouble setting it up to use as a Wah with my Helix floor. I want to be able to use the Wah at lower volumes, without having to change my guitar volume. Using it as EXP 1 for the Wah on my unit doesn't allow that. I tried using HX edit and the Helix screen without success. Could someone enlighten me on the process? or isn't it do-able? Thank you

Hello All, I am in a quandary. I have four snapshots set on the top line and also have some foot switches at the bottom. I ONLY want to erase the four footswitches at the bottom not the actual effect because I want to use the four slots below the Snapshots to control Ableton for live performance. I know how to assign MIDI controls so I am good there. I also DO NOT want to erase the effect just where it is on the scribble strip. When I hit more it goes into full stomp mode that I will put the effects. Any help on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

2021 Updated! V1.2 is Now online! This is a Premium MIDI Layout made for Line 6 Helix devices: Helix Floor, Helix LT or Helix Rack. Requires MIDI Designer Pro 2 (IOS app, sold separately) Full tactile control over your Helix using MIDI over Bluetooth or MIDI-USB connections. Hardware and Software requirements: Line 6 Helix, Helix LT or Helix Rack MIDI Designer Pro 2 (IOS App, sold separately) Apple iPad MIDI Interface (wireless or wired) Changes Log: 1 August 2021 - Updated to 1.2 Save and Mode buttons added (requires firmware 3.10 or later) New Helix LT layout included (replaces FS3 slider with a View button) 16 January 2021 - Updated to 1.1 Improved design BlueBoard screen added Extended visual Input: Now this Layout can receive CC69 (Snapshots), values [0,1,2] if you have configured your device to send such data in Command Center. The same is applied to CC1 and CC2 (EXP pedals). These changes must be saved per preset basis in your device. Recommended MIDI Interfaces: Wireless: Yamaha MD-BT01 or CME WIDI Master Wired (using Helix USB): Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter Wired (MIDI to USB): Roland UM-ONE MKII + Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter Included support (optional): Embedded suport for the IK Multimedia Blueboard Bluetooth LE Modes: Mode B (Half/Full speed, Undo/Redo, Play/Stop, Rec/Overdub) Mode C (Snapshots 1-4) Includes a Small MIDI implementation to replicate the BlueBoard behaviour with any other configurable MIDI device (Airturn, Airstep, Pirate MIDI Bridge6/4, Morningstar, etc) A bit of tech stuff: The operation of this MIDI Layout is based on the current MIDI implementation available on Line 6 Helix devices. This means that the limits of what or how can be controlled are determined by the manufacturer (to a large extent). The practical translation of this fact is that: There are some functions in the Helix that are not controllable, simply because there is no CC assigned to whatever. There are some things in the Helix that receive MIDI but they do not send it. A clear example are the footswitches (FS). For this reason, it is not possible to show a synchronized status (on/off) on the controller's screen. For this type of controls, it will only be possible to send a status change message, so the buttons will be of a momentary type. Helix does not send the names of presets or setlists via MIDI -something that would normally use SYSEX messages or the Line 6's own protocol. Description: 1- Main Screen. From this screen you can control the main functions of your Helix. Some elements receives the MIDI information that your Helix sends and display it on the screen, such as bank and program changes. Others are used to send commands to activate and deactivate elements such as footswitches. A few elements are bi-directional, such as looper controls (broken feature in the 3.0/3.01 Firmware. Waiting for the upcoming 3.1 Helix firmware update). As you already know, the Helix does not send us the setlists names. However, you will be able to rename your Setlists on the controller easily from this screen, simply by pressing the "Setlist" button to write names coincident with those of your Helix. 2-Setlist Screen The main function of this screen is to navigate comfortably between the eight banks of your Helix, but we can also select a preset in each of the 8 banks, and toggle between them at the touch of a button. There are also controls that receive information from your Helix, like these three large screens showing the current MIDI PC, Bank, and Preset (ABCD). The eight Snapshots and the most relevant looper controls are also present here. 3- Preset Screen On this screen, the idea is to have quick and immediate access to all the Presets (and Setlists) of your Helix. Snapshot selection controls are also present, as well as the looper, tap tempo and tuner buttons. 4- BlueBoard Screen This new screen provides embedded support for the iRig BlueBoard. Two units can be used simultaneosly. A small MIDI implementation is also included, to use with any other configurable MIDI controller (Airturn, Airstep, Pirate MIDI Bridge, Morningstar...) I just uploaded my first Helix video, and following a suggestion from a forum member I created a patch which takes the output of the guitar's piezo pickup into path 1, and takes the output of the iRig Acoustic clip-on microphone into path 2. I have placed all of the wet effects on path 1 and kept the iRig Acoustic path dry. In Logic Pro X I armed 2 tracks, one mono and one stereo (the stereo track is from path 1 with the wet effects). I have given the stereo track a little spread in Logic. I would love for experienced Helix users to critique my patch and give me suggestions for improvement. @datacommando gave me the idea. Thanks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjGEpsuo-ZM

Hey There, I am using Ableton tracks from my MacBook feeding via USB into my Helix as an audio interface and pushing to my HeadRush FRFR and playing live guitar using my Helix patches. It sounds great but I would like to send the tracks to separate speakers and only have my Helix sound out of HeadRush or any other speaker I use for live performance. Is this possible? I’ve tried but I keep getting a combination of both tracks and my patches. it makes it difficult to adjust levels. Or is my best bet to get a separate audio interface? I know you can just plug the headphone jacks into the board but I don’t want the exposer of the jack getting ripped out and knocking my computer to the floor. I thought the Helix interface would protect my computer since I could use XLR or line outs.

I have one input set to Variax Magnetics, and one set to Variax. I want to merge the two paths after the Delay and before the Reverb and Looper. If I choose the output of the first path, the only choice I see is to route it to the 2A input. I can't find any of the split/merge commands. What am I missing?

Hi I use Helix Native within Logic as it gives me the ability to just record the straight guitar signal & thus give me the ability to re-amp at a later stage etc.. I would like to know if it is possible to use my Helix Floor pedal to control patch changes, turn FX on & off & use Snapshots in real time. My Helix ~Floor is connected to my Mac via USB & I feel sure that I should be able to do this but I'm not exactly sure how I go about it? I am using Logic X as my DAW.I can see Helix listed in the Midi Environment (Clicks & Ports). Do I connect the Helix (within the midi environment) to the "Input Notes" or "Sequencer Input" and do I then have to do anything else? I obviously don't want the Helix Floor to effect any midi changes to anything other than Helix Native. Here's hoping someone can help me out.

I recently added the PowerCab 112+ to the Helix Floor and Variax JTV-69S in my musical "arsenal" and I am attempting to integrate them together. Could see some wonderful automation in the future. Currently I use the Program Change message that is generated when I change presets to call up the PowerCab preset. I simply put the speaker I want to use in the preset. (Lots of duplicates, but that's okay - lot's of spaces, and infinite setlists.) However, I'm trying to switch the PowerCab's preset MODE (Flat, Speaker, User IR) from within Helix's snapshots. (MIDI CC# 20, with values 0=Flat, 1=Speaker, 2=User IR) I found the following information in one of the Helix MIDI forums: Snapshots only transmit the following data from the Command Center: The value of ANY (I read ALL) Instant MIDI CC, Bank/Prog, MMC, and CV Out messages The state (dim value or lit value) of any CC Toggle or CV Toggle messages assigned to footswitches <<<<< This is what I am doing The state (dim or lit ) of any Ext Amp messages assigned to footswitches I was originally trying to add a MIDI CC Toggle to an stompbox footswitch assigned to a Helix speaker cab block so I could switch from Speaker to Flat Mode in the PowerCab, depending on whether my Helix cab block was On or Bypassed. The default state would be with the Helix cab block bypassed and the PowerCab's preset in Speaker Mode. (The PowerCab Preset is in Speaker Mode by default) It seemed to work, but then stops working correctly - the values sent to the PowerCab were out of sync with the Helix cab block. So I then created a stand-alone MIDI CC Toggle footswitch to control the PowerCab preset Mode. I created it in Command Center with the Dim value = 1 (Speaker MODE) ; and the Lit value = 0 (Flat MODE) (this correspond to the Dim = bypassed and Lit = On, status of the cab block and its footswitch) It worked fine in stompbox mode. Toggling the PowerCab Preset Mode correctly when I pressed the footswitch. I set both the MIDI CC Toggle footswitch states and the cab block footswitch states together (and DIM) for each snapshot. I went into Helix snapshot mode and the first snapshot I pressed (remember ALL snapshots are set up for PowerCab Speaker Mode) sent the PowerCab into FLAT Mode! I went back to Helix stompbox mode to check the footswitches. They were all in their original (DIM) states; however, when I press the MIDI CC Toggle footswitch, it does toggle the SPEAKER/FLAT modes in PowerCab, but the States are REVERSED from what is displayed in Command Center. (It is NOW Dim=0 and Lit=1) I have cleared and rebuilt this scenario a half-dozen times with the same result each time. This was the same problem I had when I had the Helix cab block and the MIDI CC Toggle attached to the same footswitch, so it appears it has something to do with the MIDI CC Toggle message in Command Center. I had seen a note in the Helix User Manual stating that putting two blocks on the same footswitch could randomly change their relative states. (coming on/off at the same time versus going on/off opposite of each other. (e.g., switching between two amp blocks) Am I doing something wrong, or asking the system to do something it can't do? Will this be addressed/fixed/improved when Helix and PowerCab begin communicating over L6L? Help!!!

After doing the update, my main gigging preset has a blank path 1. Tried to load back ups but comes up the same. Guessing that as the path was pretty maxed out for dsp in 2.53, it now has too much requirement in 2.6 and can't squeeze all blocks in, so just blanks the whole path. Read something on this before somewhere.... Do I now have to roll back to to 2.53 Firmware and Editor, load the preset, lose a block, re save, then back to 2.6? Could also try to screenshot settings for a rebuild. (I don't remember bothering with 2.54?!)

Unfortunately the new HX Edit cannot import patches built for the Helix Floor. The only way is to edit the hlx files. I think I will implement a software utility to help the user in this modification and to convert the hlx files from Helix FL to HX Effects. Someone wants to join?

I am using the Helix as an Audio Interface after my 'trusty'!!! A & H Firewire desk no longer wanted to communicate with my DAW. Firstly I cant seem to record from the pc or Internet directly into my daw for some reason, any ideas why?(eg you tube to Cakewalk). Secondly am I able to record from an cassette player (2 ins r and l) as my dad recently passed and im trying to record onto pc his live recordings? Many Thanks.

So, I love my Helix bag, but I want to be able to plug less stuff in when I set up at a show, so I'm getting pedalboard/case that will fit my Helix, my Wireless, a Power strip, and my output cables so I can keep everything plugged in as much as possible between shows, but I was wondering how people have been securing their Helices for transport. I think its probably a little too heavy for velcro (at least for me to feel comfortable moving it around) so I was think of locating some longer screws that fit where the feet are attached and attaching it to the board that way. Has anyone tried this, or had good luck with other methods?
