  1. I recently purchased a helix floor. And I got the latest version. I plugged in my guitar and connected the 1/4 out to my audio interface. When I turn the output knob all the way up, the sound is a little tinny, and when I look at the volume meter that shows the output at the end of the helix effect patch, it only goes to about halfway up. The gt-1000 I've been using has a function to adjust the input level, does this one?
  2. Hello everyone, I am planning to attach my Helix Floor on my pedalboard. My first idea is to remove the rubber feet and glue some crep on it to have it fixed on the board. But I then I see some kind of vent slots on the bottom side that might be blocked when fixing it without the rubber feet as spacers. Do you know if that's gonne be a problem or would you suggest a different way of installing the Helix Floor on a pedalboard? Thanks in advance, Frank
  3. Hey folks, I have a Helix Floor and want to control it via Midi. When playing live, we use a Live Player for click and backings and this player can also send midi signals. I am already able to switch programs via the ProgramChange Midi-Command. But I want also want to "press" a footswitch via Midi, it should function the same way as I would have physically pressed the switch. I assigned two funtions on footswitch 2 (bypassing level block and changing the gain parameter on the amp sim). If I read the manual p. 47 correctly, I'd need to send CC50 64~127 to "press" the FSB2. I made sure I am in stomp mode (manually hitting the footswitch works), but when I send the CC it switches to preset 26B instead of "pressing" FSB2. Any idea what I do wrong? Thanks in advance, Frank
  4. Hi Guys, Is it possible to control HX Effects with Helix Control Floor Controller (that comes with the Rack Helix) Just a thought as the extra buttons could expand the functionality of HX Effects. Thanks
  5. Hello, I just got my Helix floor, and try to figure out the following setup: I want to use it live for my guitar *and* vocals and have the signals independent. So the Upper Chain should be: Git In => XLR Left and the lower chain MIC In => XLR Right. As I can only assign XLR out (and not XLR Left / Right) I was assuming panning the XLR out of the upper chain all the way LEFT would cause the signal to go to the XLR Left out only. And if I'd pan it all the way Right, there should be no signal through XLR Left at all (because all goes to right). But panning to left or right just lowers the volume of the signal and there is no difference between panning it to the left or panning it to the right. So it seems to me, that there is some "Stereo to Mono Summation" or something like this happening. I was looking for a "set XLR to Mono" Switch but found nothing. I have not changed the setting of the Helix, just updated the firmware to 03.11. My test setup is just the guitar in and XLR out LEFT => Audiointerface. The upper chain has Guitar In Input and XLR output, the lower chain has MIC In and XLR out (though I did not connected any cables to MIC IN and XLR Right yet). Any idea, how I can fix this? Thanks in advance, Frank
  6. I've got a Helix Floor that I - in my confusion - assigned several controllers to on one footswitch. It shows that 6 controllers are assigned but I can only find 2 of them by seeing what changes in Edit when I hit the footswitch. Is there a way to see what all of the assignments are so I can remove the unneeded ones? Thanks in advance!
  7. If you're in need of a decent Helix gig bag, and you're in the UK, this is a link to Flightcase Warehouse, who have a case I bought a while ago now, and have gigged and rehearsed with, and found to be a credible and robust (but not too heavy) padded, semi-rigid, wheeled, Helix gigbag...........for a TENNER. I get my Helix floor in it, with cables, in ears, and other bit's n bob's, easy. I am now Mr 'One Trip From The Car' :-) With the high prices you can pay for a decent Helix case, I've found this to be a real bargain so thought I'd share (I have no affiliation with the company). Not sure they've cottoned on to them being Helix sized as they get referred to as a Mixer bag.........website says 36 left as at time of posting this. https://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/industry/product.asp?item=spider-padded-mixer-bag-305mm-8372-4264
  8. HX Edit 2.82 bug with Customizing a Footswitch Label in command center. Cannot name more than one footswitch. I have to go on the Helix Floor directly to name them. Is it a known bug? I haven’t seen anything about this in the forum. thanks in advance.
  9. The joystick on my Helix Floor no longer responds to push or rotation input. It still functions in the 4 directional push mode, but that is all. Have tried global reset without success. Anyone else experienced this and is there a fix?
  10. This is my goal. I want to set up the bottom row of buttons to be specific tones. Example: metal/clean/classic rock/acoustic Sim. Then I would like my top row of buttons to be stomps that I can add to any given tone from the bottom row. Example: phaser/pitch shifter/boost/chorus. Is there any possibility that the helix can be set up this way? Essentially, this is the type of setup that I use on my XT LIVE.
  11. Hello everyone. I have a Variax JTV 69 and in connection with my Helix I have the problem that after a while with different presets my alternative tunings no longer behave correctly. For example: I have an acoustic guitar with an E major tuning, which suddenly takes effect on all of my presets after a while. I also programmed some sounds a semitone higher, these also no longer work after a while. If I unplug the Variax cable and plug it in again, it works fine for a while.. I have a Helix Floor and a Helix Rack, the same problem with both. My colleague has a Shuriken, which does not have the problem with the same presets. Does anyone have an idea? Many Thanks Markus
  12. Is there a way to have the AUX IN simply be used to plug in a playback unit so I can play on top of pre-recorded music (using headphones)? I don't want my ipod that's plugged into the AUX IN to be colored by my guitar preset tones. Do I have to go out and buy a 2-channel mixer for this or can the Helix do it on its own?
  13. Sorry for this rookie, pre-sales question: I am considering buying a used Helix Floor and I'd like to understand how the versioning of the hardware device works. For example, if I find a used "Helix Floor' on Reverb.com, can I assume that they are all the same since the Helix Floor was originally released and that an older one is as good as a newer one? The only difference would be the firmware, which can be upgraded on any unit? I'm just having a hard time understanding what is the latest version of the hardware. I know the idea of a hardware version is changing, and that you can buy once and benefit from future upgrades via firmware, impulse response packages, etc., but is that completely the case? I just don't want to purchase a legacy hardware device. Thanks.
  14. Tested with my Helix Floor, HX Stomp and HX Effects. None of them are sending Looper MIDI Out commands anymore after the 3.0/3.01 firmware. Also... The label "Redo" no longer appears on the Helix Floor or HX Effects Scribble Strips.
  15. Hi, My Helix output is clipping and I want to resolve it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The following is going on: I have a preset with a minotaur + sovereign distortions, both mild distortion and not set on very heavy settings -> Fender twin (channel + Master on 10) -> split block Path A: Twin Cab, Reverb, EQ. (output left) Path B: Phaser, Mystery Filter, Delay, reverb, EQ. (output right) Input Pad is on. I play a stratocaster with singe coils into the unit. Headphones are Beyrdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm Path B is clipping. When I turn off the MysteryFilter, clipping lessens but still happens. With both the Filter and the Phaser turned off, clipping is no longer the case. Is this just too much or shouldn't the clipping appear? thanks for any thoughts/solutions.
  16. Can you use Helix Native Plug-in in Pro tools with the helix floor? While recording I want to be able to use the presets on my helix floor and upload them onto my band members helix native. This would allow me to use the helix floor as the controller for the tone that is being recorded thus allowing me to change the tone after if needed while listening back, this would then remove the re—amping process and need for wet-dry recording. They could communicate similar to helix Edit and helix floor, and allow for real time adjustments and tone thanks
  17. Greetings, I used a POD XT Live with a Variax 300 for a few years and I remember using my PC to create my own tones, including a custom metal tone, 12 string acoustic tone, and a sitar tone. The Pod came with a physical manual that was easy to flip through, and I had no problem editing things with the PC for both the POD and the Variax. The Helix Floor and the Shuriken are different beasts, and I am experimenting with the software and trying to compare it to the Pod/old Variax stuff. There are many new options and features that I need to learn about, and I find it easy to get lost in the options, or add something that mucks up the tone. I was in a motorcycle accident which messed with my memory a little bit, and I can't recall exactly how I used the old software as far as combining my Variax edits with the POD edits. Other than reading through the PDF multiple times, what are some good sources to learn about each feature of the Helix? I will be looking to create a unique metal tone, a couple of good acoustic tones, and will make a sitar tone, to start with. I am also looking to experiment with alternate tunings. I will be looking to record with the Helix, and I want to learn about using the MIDI capabilities. I am going to be getting MIDI software which will allow me to play different instrument sounds with the guitar, and I am wondering if I can somehow implement such software with the footswitches on the Helix. I am also wondering if it is possible to record what I play on the Shuriken/Helix into a *.mid file for further editing, or to import them into Powertab or some other tablature software. I have a Roland UM-One USB/Midi cable, with the in and out connected to the Helix. Any resources to help a newbie would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks! Quietus
  18. Hey folks! Looking for some help here regarding snapshots as I can't seem to find my specific question in any forums or tutorials... I downloaded a few free presets, and they are great, but were created as individual presets for each tone. (ex. Preset 1 = Clean, Preset 2 = Rhythm, Preset 3 = Lead, etc...) I am wanting to copy those individual Presets, and paste it into one preset utilizing different snapshots, but can't seem to find a way to do this in HX Edit. I currently have my Helix in Snapshot mode, and would like to consolidate these great tones into 1 preset. Is there a quick and easy way? Thank you all for the help.
  19. Hello all, I know this topic has probably been covered, but I couldn't find all the answers I was looking for. First, I am strictly an at home hobbyist with no gigging aspirations in the near or distant future yet. I have not been playing guitar very long, but I was looking to upgrade my amp and stumbled upon the helix route. It intrigues me because I feel I can get more tones at lower volumes than a tube amp. Also, I like to play a lot of different styles (John Mayer all the way to high gain stuff Killswitch, Tool ect), so the amp/cab simulation might be a better route than having multiple amps and pedals. So I have a couple questions. 1. Stomp, LT, or Floor? Is the Stomp too limiting with 6 blocks? Will I be looking to upgrade to a bigger model in a year as my effects and playing knowledge increases, or is it perfect for my situation? For a regular Joe schmo, is the floor worth the extra money over the LT? (I am in no rush to buy right away, I want to do my research, and will save the money to buy what's best for my situation.) Also, any disadvantages to buying used when it comes to software/registering the unit? 2. For my situation, do I get studio monitors or a FRFR PA like the headrush units. I want to be able to play/ practice without having to wear headphones all of the time. What would sound best for all genres at moderate volumes? Any brands or suggestions (Moderately priced) 3. What's the deal with a headphone amp? Saw someone say the LT does not have a headphone amp and that they would need a separate one. Do I need one to use headphones in my scenario? 4. Last one, a lot of people say you will not get the "amp in the room sound" and will sound like a amp micced up through a PA. What exactly does that mean. For me, the new inexperienced player, will I even be able decipher the difference because my ear isn't trained? I've never micced the amp I have now. I know to some, these questions may seem elementary, but I'm ignorant in the multi effects realm and still green in the amp/pedal/gear world. I was just looking to avoid playing the tone chasing GAS game if the Helix can cover a lot of the ground. I also know a lot of people will tell me that I have to try them. I respect that, but I want your guys advice because I am so Uneducated in the area of multieffects, I'm not even sure I could make that decision solely off 30 minutes to an hour of noodling around with a unit in a store. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
  20. I've bought the line 6 helix LT second hand. I think its not the original power cable, instead they gave me a 10A 250V power cable, will it be healthy for the helix? or should I search for another power cable that's just 240V?? Because the helix LT Power Requierements are from 100-240V
  21. I have a problem with volume pedal and their settings. On some of my Patches the volume goes from 0-100. There is no gradual rise in the volume. On others 10% sounds like 10%. When I look at the setting they seem to be set the same way. Is there something I am missing? I just want to be able to increase my volume pedal and have the volume increase accordingly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  22. Mods remove if not allowed (didn't see a classifieds section). Looking to trade a brand new Helix Floor unit for a Rack/Control. Had it less than a month, never put on the floor, the thing is brand spankin new (box and everything it comes with included). Will come with Brand new Helix backpack Just feel more comfortable with a rack unit for live gigs, seeing if there are any people out there open to a trade... Thanks
  23. Hi everyone, First time poster. I have read through the topics here on the forum but it seems like the topic has not been covered. Been using the helix floor for a year now. Great piece of gear! It is in my understanding that using snapshot is the way to go to change parameters with a patch without the ''sound gap'' you would get by switching presets. So I've been using snapshots for in-song changes, and presets for song-to-song (which seems to be common). Until now everything worked fine. I updated to 2.82 lately. I have a couple of presets based on the same ''rig''; the only thing that tends to stay the same would be the amp settings. Effects and snapshot changes. Last week I started to experience a ''sound gap'' (like the one you get when you change presets). Strangely, it seems to be related to when 2 presets are the same, within the setlist. I tried to build the preset from scratch instead of copying it, but as soon as I match the amp settings, I get that problem when I go through the snapshots. I don't know if someone encountered a similar problem, or even if I did explained it well, but if anymore encountered a similar issue, or have a fix... Thanks in advance for your help. English is not my primary language but I'll try to give more details if some of you have question Thank you, Cédric
  24. I have recently purchased Helix Native in its 1.82 version and upgraded my Helix LT to 2.82. I was hoping to control Helix Native directly from my Helix LT, (switch Helix native presets from footswitches, use EXP pedal....) but i did not find any indication that this feature was existing. Can somebody tell me if this is possible ? or will it be possible soon ?
  25. I have a Helix Floor unit in excellent condition that I'd like to trade for the rack mount with the controller. Also, I will include the Gator G-TOUR PEDALBOARD-LGW ATA Wood Tour Case. I am a touring musician out of Nashville and I want to build a rack for touring to include my IEMs, Wireless guitar unit, and rack effects. So, moving to the rack model will just make life easier. (I hope LOL!) If you're interested feel free to email me at blackburnguitar@gmail.com and we can work out the details! Thank you!
