  1. Hey, guys I just updated my Helix LT from 2.60 to 2.82 and saw in the instructions that in order to get the new presents from 2.80(?) I need to restore my Helix presets and then restore my backup (yes I made one) to get my custom presets back. My question is are the "new" presets worth the hassle? I never used any of the original presets and just immediately started crafting my own and downloading user-made presents since day one. But curiosity has me wondering if there is anything amazing in the newer presets I could be missing out on. What are your thoughts?
  2. Last week the exp pedal on my LT started getting tighter and tighter, and today it just stopped working. The pedal is still tight, and although it goes up and down it just stopped working (the click to swap between exp 1 and 2 is still fine). The pedal being tight shouldn't be much of an issue, probably fixable if i loosen up the screw on the side, but I think this looks like a problem with the optical sensor of the exp pedal. As far as I know we don't have any official line 6 customer service here in Spain and I bought it used, so no warranty whatsoever. Trying to come up with some DIY solutions, so I would love to hear your feedback Cheers!
  3. Does helix lt work on 240v?
  4. Don't worry, this isn't me asking if I can use it as an interface. I know I can and it's better than the 200$ focusrite or presonus I can afford (it was like 1300$ for helix and headrush frfr 108). I was wondering what else I need to use it as an interface. I have a razer laptop with an i7 and gtx 1070 and klipsch pro media 2.1 thx but I was wondering if I should invest in studio monitors and what else would be a good investment for my rig and studio.
  5. Hi, fellow Helixoids! I've just released 13 new Helix sound sets, available at the Helix Marketplace. I've taken an unusual approach: While we all know that Helix is great at mimicking classic analog gear, I've been exploring Helix as the unique and powerful instrument it is, with an emphasis on startling new tones that could only have been created in Helix. I think these sounds will appeal to restlessly creative players in search of new tones and textures. (Admittedly, they're probably not suitable for REO Speedwagon cover bands.) Each board sell for $13 and has its own demo video at the above link. There's also a combo back offering all 13 sets at a 40% discount. Its demo video, which provides a taste of all 13 products, is a good starting point if you're curious. Thanks for listening! :)
  6. So I’m in a dilemma that I’m hoping someone can help me out with. I play in 2 metal bands that practice at separate rehearsal studios and I am looking for a second rig for the other studio so I was looking into getting the hx stomp or the helix lt but can’t decide which one would be a better fit. Since I play metal I don’t use a ton of effects but maybe if I had more options I would use them more. I mostly just use a high gain profile on my kemper, a clean profile and a lo-fi profile but to be honest the kemper Is not known for its effects so I was thinking the hx stomp might be cool to use as a second rig at the other studio and since it’s so portable I could use it with the kemper as well. The only issue is that since I use real cabinets I use power amps because my kemper is not powered and neither is the hx stomp but the hx stomp doesn’t have an xlr output to plug into my power amp however the helix lt does. Is there anyway hook the hx stomp up to my power amp without using an xlr? Would a 1/4 jack to xlr work? what I’m really getting down to is which one would you guys suggest for my situation the helix lt or the hx stomp? Would the hx stomp be a good stand alone rig if I can run it through a power amp or would it just be better to get the helix lt? Sorry for the long post. I wanted to try and be as specific as possible. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!
  7. Hello, Quick backstory: Had a tube amp - EVH 5150 III with a 212 Hesu cab and a pretty nice pedalboard. Sold it because I don't want to do bands and gigs for a while - I rather focus on my music, alone. So the tube amp had to go. I was either going to buy a Kemper or the Fractal, because "Line 6 can't do metal well", according to some folks on the internet, but something told me to hear it for myself. I ended up buying a Helix. I did a LOT of research before buying it though - I saw presets being made, IRs being loaded, how to mess with global settings. In less than an hour after I unpacked it I created a great modern 7 string tone (Had to use external IRs - ML Sound Lab MEGA oversize pack). It rips. This goes out to everybody who's looking for a modern-proggy-and-quiety solution. Buy the Helix. Oh, and I just want to mention that I was VERY dissapointed with it for the first 10 minutes. I was like "Did I just buy a POD FARM 2.5?". Turned out High a low cuts at IR blocks are the key. I started with 80 Hz for lows and 14k for high with my 7 string. What cut ranges do you guys recommend? I have just one question. Now i don't plan on using it anytime soon, but how the hell do I "unblock" the expression pedal? It's still, stiff. Can't move it at all. I found some kind of allen wrench. How do I proceed? Thank you! Chris
  8. So...I updated my HX Edit and my Helix LT to 2.80, and everything was good. Then I updated the HX Edit to 2.81. When I attempted to update my Helix LT to 2.81, the HX Edit showed me a "No Connection" error. The same error occurred with the Line 6 Updater. Really weird. I've since uninstalled and reinstalled both the Line 6 Updater and HX Edit, but I'm still experiencing the "No Correction" error. Any insights? I've googled it, but no answers. I also have a Tech Support ticket in with Line 6, but I won't hear back from them until probably Tuesday. Thanks everybody...
  9. Hello Helix-Users First, I have to apologize for my poor English. Since april 2018 I use a helix LT with a powercab 112 plus (midi cable connected). I‘m very happy with it. BUT: last weekend i upgrade the helix lt and powercab firmwares (helix lt => 2.81 and powercab => 2.00.1). After the upgrade, the powercab doesn‘t change the right powercab-speaker over midi. I doesn‘t find out what the problem is! I do the follow steps to find the problem: 1) reset powercab 112 plus to factory defaults 2) reset helix lt to factory defaults (press FS7 and FS8 and then turn on the Helix lt) 3) OK, then I activate Preset 1A, then switched the powercab to channel 000 I active Preset 1B, then the powercab switched to channel 001 1C => channel 002 1D => channel 003 2A => channel 004 [...] 32D => channel 127 you see, every Helix Preset ist already connected with a powercab speaker preset. 4) I created a simple Marschall-Amp Preset (1A) on the Helix. In „commands“ I made a midi command to change the powercab-preset to 017 (Greenback). 5) then I activate the Preset 1A. Helix load the Marshall Amp and send a midi comand to the powercab. The powercab switched first in the 000 channel and after automatic in the 017 channel. Why change the powercab first in the FRFR channel (000) and then in the 017 greenback channel (changing time used, <1 second). 6) I create other Presets in the Presets 1D and 32D. In these channel the powercab change first in the channel 004 (Preset 1D) and after in the 017. In Preset 32D the powercab change first in the channel (127) and after in the 017. In some Presets I must press two times the footswitch-knob. First time the powercab load the „standard“ Speaker (look point 3) ). Second time the powercab changed to the programmed channel (ex. 017) I tested these also without USB connections with my Macbook. I disconnect also the XLR soundcable (Helix LT -> Powercab), only the midi connection between Helix and powercab. The problem remains the same. Why the powercab change two times? In Firmware 2.71 I had never problems with it. the midi commands works fine. How I must configurate the Helix LT, the Presetchange works fine? Any ideas? Thank you! Greetings from Switzerland Pady
  10. I bought a MIDI cable today, plugged in my Whammy into my Helix LT (with both MIDI and through the FX-loop), set the MIDI CC accodingly to the Whammy 5 manual, but I can't get it to work. I made a test footswitch with FS9 to switch the whammy into Haromny + OCT up (CC 63, Value 127), but it doesn't do anything. Changing from MIDI in to MIDI thru on the Helix didn't help either.
  11. I'm a relative novice when it comes to recording guitar and amps. Up to this point I've been recording my guitar/amp with an SM57 & USB Interface direct to Garageband and am happy with the results. I've been messing around with recording the Helix and the tone is different compared to what I'm hearing out of my amp (DSL40C). It doesn't matter if I'm using my amp, or using a preamp in the Helix and going directly into the FX return, the recorded tone is always brighter and slightly fuzzier. I run the audio out from my mac into a Kenwood receiver and I have Bose speakers so it's not like I'm listening through the bullt-in computer speakers. Also, I don't have this problem when I record with the mic - so I'm pretty sure I can rule out the Mac and speakers. I'm less concerned about adjusting the settings on the Helix to get a good recorded tone as I would imagine I should be able to do that with some tweaking. I'm more concerned if I'm playing live using my amp onstage and also XLR to the FOH (If I'm mic'ing the amp, no worries). If I set my tones based on what I'm hearing from the amp, is it going to be bright and fuzzy through the PA? Or, if I adjust for the PA, am I going to have a more muted sound coming from the amp. I guess one solution is setup parallel paths - one for the amp and one for XLR - and put EQ's at the end to adjust each path separately. If I can I'd rather avoid that so that I'm not tweaking a bunch of patches/snapshots each time I play somewhere. I'm currently not playing out, however, I may have something in the works so I'd like to get all this ironed out before that starts. Is this common or is it something I'm doing, or not doing?
  12. I just ordered a Helix LT yesterday and I am very new to modelers. What is the best way to hook up the Helix through a Fender Hot Rod Deville? I don't know much about the 4CM and just wanted the best advice on what to do. Thanks
  13. What actually happens to the 2 extra assigned footswitches of the regular Helix when imported into the Helix LT? Does it just drop the assignments to fs1 and fs7?
  14. My google fu has been failing me on this question, so figured I'd bring it here. How many blocks does the Helix LT have?
  15. Hi all, I've seen some discussion on this, but nothing so far that has been able to help me figure this out. I just downloaded HX Edit and bought the OwnHammer 412 Rect IR pack. I'm pretty sure I have everything updated and am signed in, but keep getting the following error message when I try to import them: HX Edit was unable to import IRs in this set due to following errors: -8209 - Service does not support the requested function. Any ideas? I have the Line 6 Updater, although it doesn't show any devices that I can update. It currently shows that I'm running Helix LT 2.30 and HX Edit 2.71. Thanks in advance for the help!
  16. Hi - Relative newbie here. I have set up a new patch using a US Deluxe Normal with a little drive, great clean tone that just gets to breakup. Before that in the chain, I'm using send-receive out to a drive pedal that I really like, with the drive low but the volume high, to really push the US Deluxe and it works really great, sounds wonderful. (I realize I could prob do this with the Minotaur just as easily, since i'm mostly using the pedal to push the volume). However, my issue is that (of course) when I bring in the drive pedal it doesn't just raise the crunch, but it really raises the volume a fair amount. Is there a way to push the amp without raising the volume as much? I could obviously turn the volume down on the pedal, but that'd result in pushing the amp less and lose some of the great crunch. I thought of maybe adding a volume effect later in the chain after the amp and reducing the volume and tying that to the same foot switch/button, not entirely sure how to do that. Maybe there's another/better way to do this? I certainly don't mind a little volume boost, but right now it's too much. (Makes things sound really quiet/flat when I turn it off). Any help appreciated. Ed
  17. I have a setup where the Helix LT controls a Beatbuddy (drummachine) and a Boomrang looper through midi. When I change presets on the Helix the Beatbuddy automatically changes to the right song. It works really well, until today. I would like to be able to change guitars during a song. Playing the acoustic while singing, and then change to the electric for a solo. The problem is that when I change preset during a song, the Helix sends out a midi command that changes the drum beat on the Beatbuddy. I have removed all midi messages from command center. When I change to an empty preset I have the same problem. So my question is this. How do I make sure that the Helix does not send any midi messages, when I change presets?
  18. Hi I am pulling the plug on a Helix LT. Can't wait. I currently am using a Boss GT100. What I like about BossToneCentral is that there are professional patches that are made by world-renowned guitarists. Is that the case for Helix Patches. I know it comes with some standard patches but I have only seen patches from users, which is great but I would like some standards if possible. David Gilmour patches. 50's guitar sounds etc. Can someone enlighten me on the sounds that come with the Helix or downloadable from world-renowned guitarists? Thanks
  19. Hi, I haven't owned a Line 6 Product for a long time, It was a Guitar pod. I currently own a Boss GT100 Multi Effects board. I'm not too happy with it it's very muddy. I have heard great things about the Helix but the price, Yikes! So what are the major difference between the Helix and Helix LT? Are there ever any sales on these items. Thanks in advance.
  20. Hello Hello; Okay; I wrote music for my 1st album; the guitar sounds were dialled in by a producer in a studio. the album is finished. I m trying to recreate the sound with the helix lt for my I've setup. I spend some time with the helix; i love it; but i don t get it to sound right. I m posting 2 small sound files of the rhythm guitar sound, which i want to recreate; it s basically verse and chorus. The guitar tuning is weird. E , A and D strings (the deep ones) are tuned down 3 half steps - the chords are then all standard power chords played on these 3 strings starting on the 8 th fret and descending down. If anyone wants to give it a try, i d be super thankful. Hope this fits in this forum here. Thaaaaank you so much guitar_chorus_1.mp3 (the rhythm part, not the strumed chords) guitar_verse_1.mp3
  21. Hi! Maybe you can help me with your expertise: I own a Helix LT and I wanted an amp so i could connect it via 4CM plus be able to control the switch channel through the Helix, easy right? First I had a Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 36 but I never succeed in hooking them via MIDI (so I could take full advantage of the 3 channels and the power section) So i decided to sell it and buy another one with only 2 channels and a regular (TS cable) amp control Jack; I bought the PRS MT15 (great amp!) but meanwhile i was using it with the foot switch that came with the amp there was no problem (meaning no HUM) but if I tried to use the Helix LT to change the channel of the amp...HUM appears (a huge HUM by the way). Yes I tried the Hum Eliminator and all the programing was right and nothing work for me so...once again I decided to change the amp. I did research and the Orange Rocker 32 and Helix Lt can work perfectly...and they do! The amp its great and covers a lot of ground but somehow (and I know I need to break it first) The amp doesn't delivers the right amount of gain that I would like (I'm aware that its not a Hi Gain amp) I like to play TOOL from time to time (thats the top gain that I need) and this one fights to get close to that. So my question is: Do you know for certain which amps gets along with the Helix LT? I know the Tubemeister 18 and 20 deluxe can switch the amp channel through the Helix (maybe with a TRS cable?) with no Hum and that's how far my knowledge gets..I truly appreciate your comments!
  22. Hello Forum members, I've recently bought a Helix LT and very happy with it so far. The way I use it (for now) is that in live situations (rehearsal, we don't gig yet) I have patches set up with two signal paths. The effects only go to the 1/4" out which feed into the the front of the tube-amp we have in our rehearsal room. At home I don't have an external amp, so the effects + amp + cab simulation go to the XLR and I play using headphones. Maybe not ideal, but it does the job and allows me to set up patches quickly. But what I want to do next is to feed the XLR to the mixing desk in the rehearsal room so as to have both the amp as well as a signal for mixing. This mixing desk may have phantom power turned on (although usually off) and as multiple bands use the same rehearsal room I don't want to risk feeding phantom power to my Helix. I have browsed through the forums and found a lot of valuable information; an often used method is to go from the 1/4" to a DI box. But what I want to do is to use the XLR out (at mic level) and feed that to the mixing desk. I have purchased an "ART DTI" transformer/ isolator as I found some people recommending that device. My understanding is that compared to a DI box it leaves the signal level intact (i.e. MIC in = MIC out). Other than that it works pretty much the same as a DI box (but I do not know that for sure..... I don't know too much about electronics) All this said, I am confused about the following and hope someone could give me a clear answer on this: 1) Does this ART DTI indeed prevent the phantom power from going to the XLR outputs of the Helix? 2) I noted that when turning phantom power on there is a " plop" in the signal (I did some experimenting at home using my Focusrite soundcard; my headphones were connected to the soundcard). If I disconnect the Helix but leave the ART DTI still connected this "plop" is hardly noticeable. Does this still mean that even when the DTI is connected some signal is being sent to the Helix? 3) What actually happens when the Helix is exposed to phantom power? Will the electronics be damaged? I know that Line 6 clearly states not to use phantom power, but it is unclear at least what might actually happen, i.e. what the risk is. 4) What is actually the difference between dedicated " phantom power blockers" and the ART DTI isolator/transformer. Please don't suggest me to do things differently. I'm quite aware of what the Helix can do in terms of routing and indeed there may better ways to do what I want to achieve. I'm just trying to understand how this phantom power issue works and whether the additional product I bought actually protects me or not. Thanks a lot !!!
  23. Hey Guys! Total newb here but despite some time spent searching the forums I have not found a solid answer to this question; First my set up; I am running a 2013 Imac with El Capitan 10.11.6 My Helix is connected to the USB and is set as the default input and output device for the mac. I have set the latency to 444100 because in Audio Midi Set Up each time I try to set it higher than that it rolls back. I'm really not sure what the issue is there. I'd like to address that issue if possible. My Event PR5 Monitors are connected to the 1/4" outputs on the LT. I can listen to any video or audio on the PC through the monitors just fine and I can also use the monitors to hear my guitar signal so when I practice in the room everything is ok. I created a second path and used an effects return to add a mic so I can chat with friends while they watch the stream. The problem that I have is that the Helix is not capturing the audio from the youtube tracks or even from Garage band while streaming. Can anyone tell me how to accomplish this? To be clear, I don't want to have to use a DAW for this. I'd like to be able to improvise over a track during either facebook live or youtube live. Preferably both. I suppose the alternate would be to buy another external sound card with more inputs so I could run 1/4" or XLR out to that soundcard and use it as the main source but again I am not too sure. I did get that to work with a Presonus Audio Box 22VSL but that only has two inputs and I would prefer not to run the guitar in mono or buy another sound card for that matter. Should have gone full Helix instead of LT I suppose lol. Anyhow any help would be greatly appreciated.
  24. I have a Helix LT. I would like to jam and play to tracks from Spotify and alike. I figured that I could just play tracks from my PC through the USB cable into the Helix and then I could use headphones to hear both the audio streamed from my PC and my guitar at the same time. The guitar sounds fine, but the streamed audio from my PC sounds terrible. Any ideas on how I can practice to tracks from my PC through headphones using the Helix too without the distorted streamed audio?
  25. Working through issues with my brand-new Helix LT, so far Line 6 Customer Support has been quick to engage and support: Initially the Helix LT was unable to connect to either Helix Editor or Line 6 Updater applications - first with a MacBook Pro laptop running MacOS El Capitan. Switching to an iMac running MacOS Sierra, I was able to successfully update the Helix LT to firmware version 2.21.0. I subsequently updated the operating system on the MacBook Pro laptop to Mac OS Sierrra. Now the Helix LT will temporarily connect to the computers with Helix Editor software, then dis-connect with a yellow-bar error message stating "Service is not online." Subsequent attempts to connect are unsuccessful, sometimes with an error message stating "Cannot connect to device." Both computers, two USB cables supplied with Line 6 hardware, all available USB ports on the computers... same dealio. Not working!! My original Helix Floor unit connects successfully to both computers - with both of the USB cables I have - and there appear to be no issues with navigating the setlists, presets, etc. Exporting the files to the local storage disks also works OK. NO CONNECTIVITY ISSUES WITH THE ORIGINAL HELIX FLOOR. Curious to see if other early adopters of the newly-released Helix LT are experiencing similar problems with USB connections and Helix Editor + Line 6 Updater applications. Possibly this is more specific to Apple/Mac devices & not Windows/PC devices?? Thanks for any helpful input, KWH
