  1. Hi, thanks for previous answers (by the way, it's funny how I can only create new topics through the phone, not the PC...). I have a final doubt that I've not been finding. My idea is to record some videos while I play along to some songs. So I wanted to record the playback from, say, Spotify (on the pc), alongside my guitar recording (while my phone does the video recording, separately). Is there any way I can do it? If I set my Helix LT as the PC monitor, I can hear everything and play along without a problem, but I know that only happens because my output is set to USB 1/2. I'm afraid I can't use USB 1/2 as inputs on another line to, say, output it through USB 3/4 and use that as an input to reaper because 1) I can't select USB 1/2 as inputs; and 2) that would ause the guitar and all other sounds from PC to record on loop... So, is there a way to record playback from spotify AND my guitar at the same time through Helix? I'm using Reaper. Thank you!
  2. Hi folks, I bought my Helix in 2017 and despite playing with it for a while, I had to move countries and it had been sleeping in my office for a long time now. Yesterday I decided to pick it up again and do some playing/recording. Its firmware was version 2.21 then and I upgraded it to 2.92 using the latest Helix Edit app. It all went well, but I'm surprised it went "too well", actually: the instructions mentioned my user presets would be erased during the upgrade, but they didn't! I can still find and use them after the upgrade, which included the big overhaul from version 2.80. The fact that I could already find those presets held me back from importing my backup after the upgrade. So the question is: should I factory reset the Helix after the update, and THEN import the backup? By doing so, is there a risk of the new factory presets of the current firmware be replaced by the old ones of the backup, or only my user presets will be reapplied? By the way, my old "Helix" app is still there lingering on my PC alongside the new "Helix Edit" app. Can I safely uninstall the "Helix" app and only use the "Helix Edit" app from now on? And if I do need to factory reset, can I confirm that it's by turning it on while pressing switches 9 and 10? Sorry if all of this is repeated, but I couldn't find a direct answer to these questions because I'm a noob. Best regards to all.
  3. I have a Helix LT and I'm trying to sync my tempo (for delays) using my Boss RC-505 as my master, but I want to keep the Helix LT ahead of it in the chain. I know there is a way to use a DAW to do it, but I was wondering if there was a way to sync without using one. FYI, I'm a classical violinist/pianist that recently decided to see what I can do with loop machines and a sequencer to create live trance, so I'm VERY new to sound modification/mixing and don't understand most of the electronics terminology, so if simple/descriptive explanations are possible, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  4. For some weird reason the audio from my Helix LT USB records as midi. I have tried Reaper, GarageBand, and Audacity. All of them record the guitar as a midi file, and playback is just individual tones. I have confirmed that I am using the USB out connection and cable. I have confirmed my track output is USB. I have confirmed that I am using the correct input/output for each DAW. I have searched all over and can't find out what setting I have wrong. Can anyone help me out? I'm currently running: 2018 Macbook pro with Helix LT (updated to 2.92) connected via USB.
  5. I was wondering if I need a High-Z input for the split signal I want to use for all my presets, so I record the DI guitar simultaneously, together with the processed sound from the Helix. For all my presets I have a A/B split going from the beginning of the chain (so before all the effects/amps/cabs) to the 1/4" output. It should be as dry as it can get then. There is a mono jack-cable plugged in, which goes to the mixer/interface of course then as well. So is the signal on that cable line signal or is it similar to a real high impedence guitar signal? Thanks in advance! Kind regards
  6. Hi Friends. Sorry for my english. When i use the volume pedal in the helix LT, volume goes up too sharply. How can I calibrate it to sound gradually Thanks a lot
  7. Dear reader, I've bought the Helix LT a couple of days ago. After trying it for some hours I wanted to go into the Helix edit to try and make some custom tones and update the helix as it is on version 2.30. Unfortunately every time I plug in the Helix and turn it on my PC crashed with a BSOD saying "system service exception" It's an up to date windows 10 PC with all the latest drivers and everything. Hope you guys can help me out with this one. Kind Regards, Wxam
  8. Hello all, I know this topic has probably been covered, but I couldn't find all the answers I was looking for. First, I am strictly an at home hobbyist with no gigging aspirations in the near or distant future yet. I have not been playing guitar very long, but I was looking to upgrade my amp and stumbled upon the helix route. It intrigues me because I feel I can get more tones at lower volumes than a tube amp. Also, I like to play a lot of different styles (John Mayer all the way to high gain stuff Killswitch, Tool ect), so the amp/cab simulation might be a better route than having multiple amps and pedals. So I have a couple questions. 1. Stomp, LT, or Floor? Is the Stomp too limiting with 6 blocks? Will I be looking to upgrade to a bigger model in a year as my effects and playing knowledge increases, or is it perfect for my situation? For a regular Joe schmo, is the floor worth the extra money over the LT? (I am in no rush to buy right away, I want to do my research, and will save the money to buy what's best for my situation.) Also, any disadvantages to buying used when it comes to software/registering the unit? 2. For my situation, do I get studio monitors or a FRFR PA like the headrush units. I want to be able to play/ practice without having to wear headphones all of the time. What would sound best for all genres at moderate volumes? Any brands or suggestions (Moderately priced) 3. What's the deal with a headphone amp? Saw someone say the LT does not have a headphone amp and that they would need a separate one. Do I need one to use headphones in my scenario? 4. Last one, a lot of people say you will not get the "amp in the room sound" and will sound like a amp micced up through a PA. What exactly does that mean. For me, the new inexperienced player, will I even be able decipher the difference because my ear isn't trained? I've never micced the amp I have now. I know to some, these questions may seem elementary, but I'm ignorant in the multi effects realm and still green in the amp/pedal/gear world. I was just looking to avoid playing the tone chasing GAS game if the Helix can cover a lot of the ground. I also know a lot of people will tell me that I have to try them. I respect that, but I want your guys advice because I am so Uneducated in the area of multieffects, I'm not even sure I could make that decision solely off 30 minutes to an hour of noodling around with a unit in a store. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
  9. I was looking for recommendations or tips about how to get the most out of my Helix LT, keeping in mind I am not a professional musician. I have my Helix LT and I have it plugged in directly into the instrument input of a Boss Katana 100 amp. I want to get the best sound possible out of my Helix so would I be better suited to buy a PA speaker of some kind like the HeadRush or something to that affect or better speakers directly into my PC and bypass the amp all together? Or would anything not really make a significant difference compared to what I am already doing?
  10. Hello line 6 folk I'd like to ask for some help/advice as a new helix LT user for a one-man band setup with in-ears and Frfr cab on stage. I’ve come up with a setup I think might work, but I’d like your advice/suggestions. I would sing and play guitar over home-made backing tracks with a click panned to left and backing-track to right I've seen some good vids on you tube but they either show a setup with the LT with no vocals, or a setup using the full Helix- which I don't have. I want to have backing track, live guitar, vocals and click in-ears, and everything except click for PA. It would be small clubs. The gear would be an IPAD, Helix LT, FRFR cab and a Behringer mixer e.g xenyx 802 Proposed setup for above: IPAD Click track to mixer Backing track (BT) to Helix via R1 (with R1 set at line level) so I can use its global EQ if needs be HELIX LT Path 1A · GTR in --- FX + amp and cab sim --- multi out (¼ out and XLR out) · ¼ out is at line level and sent to mixer line in. · XLR out at line level to FRFR cab. Path 2A · R1 input at start of path receiving backing track from IPAD at line level (hopefully IPAD is loud enough) then sent to mixer at line level from S1. (BT sent to Helix to enable Global EQ to a better extent than mixer EQ. Path 2B · R2 input at start of path as input receiving Vox from mixer at line level (hopefully mixer pre-amp is loud enough) · Add FX to Vox and use S2 to send Vox back to mixer at line level MIXER · Receiving click track from IPAD · Mic plugged in to XLR channel then sending raw Vox to Helix R2(using 1-click method ?), Fx added in Helix then sent back to mixer line-input via Helix S2. · Receiving BT from Helix via Helix’s S1 · Receiving live guitar from Helix ¼ out. · All tracks sent to mixer headphones out for in-ears. · All except click sent to PA via master out FRFR · Receiving guitar + FX + amp + cab sim via XLR out. Does this seem like it would work in practice? Any suggestions for improvements? Thanks very much.
  11. I've bought the line 6 helix LT second hand. I think its not the original power cable, instead they gave me a 10A 250V power cable, will it be healthy for the helix? or should I search for another power cable that's just 240V?? Because the helix LT Power Requierements are from 100-240V
  12. Hi! I have the Helix LT with firmware 2.8. My question: is there a way to download just the 2.9 flash file for the Helix LT? I don't have any internet at home, but use the free Wi-Fi at work. In the past I have been updating my Helix by downloading the necessary software (and separate flash file) onto the laptop and then bringing that home to do the update. Thanks, my first post. Been lurking for 2 years. Love my Helix.
  13. Dowloaded HXEDIT 2.90 and finished update on Win 7 computer and LT. Seeemed to go smoothly with no hitches.....Now there is no output from the 1/4 inch out jack and the tuner does not register anything from my guitar.
  14. I have a helix lt and i would like to plug a dynamic mic with xls cable into a return jack. Clearly, i need an intermediate cable that goes from xls to 1/4". My question is: should the cable be xlr->trs or xls-> ts. Thanks.
  15. After updating to 2.80, I changed the global settings for footswitches back to the 8 snapshot mode I previously had. However, now when I navigate between the snapshots using the footswitches, the LEDs don't show me which snapshot I am on (nor does any of the signal chain update on screen). It does switch between the snapshots though, as I can obviously hear the difference - but it does effectively mean I can only view one snapshot, so if I want to make changes to any of the others I have to guess what settings I am using. Has anybody come across something similar? Any idea how to fix it?
  16. Hello, After I add IR's to the list in Helix Edit, my Helix LT (about 1 month old) will only let me select the IR in slot 1. It does not matter which IR I put in that slot, I can only select that one with the physical LT. However within Helix Edit I can select a different IR and assign it to the preset just fine and it shows on the LT. But if I get on the LT and turn the knob to select a different one, the original one disappears. Some things I've tried: 1. Helix Edit: Drag and Drop the IR's, and have also tried "Import" 2. Swapped around the order of the IR's in Helix Edit 3. Deleted the IR block on the LT and added it back in 4. Confirmed that I am running v2.82 on both Helix Edit and the LT 5. Running Windows 10 I've attached screenshots of the Helix Edit screens. ~Pic1 shows the list of IR's in Edit ~Pic2 shows the IR selection in the preset in Edit ~Pic3 shows the dropdown in the preset that displays the list of available IR's in Edit, but they do not show up in the LT Any ideas on how to remedy this? Thanks! Chris
  17. Hey all, currently trying to figure out a problem I'm having with getting my computer to recognize my guitar signal through my Helix LT. My usual set-up is using the 4CM into a Supro Blues King 12 amp and I absolutely love it. The Supro acts as a clean pedal platform amp, and the Helix LT gives me all the effects I could ever want, and helps me achieve my default tone with a compressor, noise gate, EQ and such. I usually play along to music on Spotify or YT, through 2 Presonus Eris E5 monitors & Temblor T10 subwoofer -> Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (3rd Gen) hooked up via USB to my computer. I live in a house so I don't really have to worry about cranking the volume of my amp and speakers. However, I work odd hours (4am-12pm) and sometimes I'd like to play along with music at times where neighbors are asleep and I don't want to bother them. Basically, I'd like to be able to hear my finished guitar signal from my Helix LT as well as the audio from my computer while headphones are plugged in. In addition, I want to start recording guitar parts using the Helix LT, and I'd like to record directly into Ableton Live using the Helix LT. I figured that I'd be able to plug headphones into my Focusrite to hear the audio from my computer and somehow be able to have my finished guitar signal also loaded up on my computer, whether it be through USB with my Helix LT, or through the Helix Native plug-in. I have the HX Edit software installed on my computer, and using the USB cable, I have the Helix LT directly connected to my computer. So there is no issue with recognizing the Helix LT, as I am able to edit in real time with the HX Edit software. I also have the Helix Native plug-in, which I have been attempting to figure out within Ableton Live. I should mention I'm brand new to Ableton so figuring all this stuff out has been felt a bit overwhelming to say the least. The only way I can hear my guitar signal is to hear the dry signal when plugged directly into my Focusrite, this is less than ideal because it's just my dry signal without any compression or EQ, the same as if I was plugged directly into my amp. I guess I might just be struggling to understand at a basic level on how to play my guitar through the Helix LT into my computer.
  18. So, I picked up an LT about a year go, and I love it. It honestly fulfills pretty much everything that I want, and the extra 5 or 600 bucks for the Floor is not something that I could justify. The only thing the Floor has that I wish the LT had in all honesty is the Mic input. (the scribble scripts, the extra fx loops, and all that other stuff are kind of irrelevant to me). SO, To fix that lack, I have purchased myself a small 5 "channel" Behringer mixer that I'm going to run into the input of the Helix and then run the guitar into one of the FX loop returns (or maybe the other way around) to give myself the ability to have a mic input for the LT. The mixer was like 50 bucks.
  19. Hello all, This questions would have been raised I presume many times and I have looked through all the internet. I have watched youtube videos and so on but I can't make up my mind. I currently play guitar, bass (active bass mostly) and various other instruments. However, one thing stops me, the price... in Euros 400€ difference for just a "few things" they say. But I read a lot, the pedal is better, the scribble strips is amazing and the amount of various type of inputs/outputs is over amazing. I want to know, should I pay 400 more "just" for that or is it going to be an utter waste of money? Please ask me questions if you want. I'll be happy to answer if that means you can guide me more to my purchase. I play with Fender Strats, and Teles. I have also few basses but my main one is an active Ibanez Thank you! A Helix dreamer from France
  20. Couple quick questions on controller assignment. I understand how to assign multiple blocks to one controller and cycle through them. However, let’s say I want to use one controller to cycle from a phase block, to flange and then a 3rd press to bypass both completely? How would this be done? Second question. When toggling /cycling through the block assignments on any given controller, the name of the block doesn’t change. Is there a way for the name to change to whatever block it switches to?
  21. Hello there, I`ve had my share of Line6 products in the past (Pod 2.0 / X3Live / HD500) and I have also been away from this brand for a couple years now. I remember that I lost my patience with the usb issues on the X3 + Hd500, however, Helix has caught my attention a while ago. I was wondering if there is any known usb malfunction on the Healix Lt? I noticed that a couple people (not as many as when I had the x3 thats for sure) referred usb issues on a few forums (usb being disconnected from the computer + noise when having the usb cable on). I want to get one so bad, but at the same time...I am so afraid of going back to the same headache as in the past... Don't take it wrong but...should I stay away? Thanks, RR
  22. Hi - I've been using the Helix LT live for about 9 months now, but I've barely scratched the surface of it, so pardon me if these are dumb questions. I'm thinking of adding a synth pedal (EHX Synth9 or Boss SY-1) to emulate some keyboard parts (I've been playing some keyboards on stage, but I'm giving that up). If any of you have tried this setup, how do you rig the pedal with your Helix so that you can have synth only, guitar only, and guitar + synth (with the synth not mixed into the guitar signal but as its own separate signal)? Some of these synth pedals seem quite amazing, and might help me avoide lugging around the 58 pound Alesis QS 8.1 I've been using on about 12 songs per night. Thanks in advance and cheers! J.C.
  23. Hey all, Yesterday I reinstalled all my music software on a new PC and discovered something interesting.. By accident, I had only enabled output 1 and output 2 while setting up the Helix ASIO driver in reaper for my Helix LT floorboard. I was recording guitar, using headphones and hardware monitoring and by accident enabled record monitoring in reaper as well. This made my tones HUGE and brought an almost stereo-like width to my patches. After jamming out for some time.. I realised my mistake and enabled outputs 1 to output 8 like usually recommended, which in turn, made combined hardware monitoring and record monitoring sound lollipope again. I have tried studying the Helix LT bible (manual), but I am not sure i completely understand what is going on here. I hope someone with a bit more technical knowledge can help me out? :-) Cheers
  24. I have recently purchased Helix Native in its 1.82 version and upgraded my Helix LT to 2.82. I was hoping to control Helix Native directly from my Helix LT, (switch Helix native presets from footswitches, use EXP pedal....) but i did not find any indication that this feature was existing. Can somebody tell me if this is possible ? or will it be possible soon ?
  25. Hello All - Writing to get some expertise on an issue I'm having with the 6 button looper on the Helix (LT if it matters)... The issue is simple, and I hope there's a simple answer but I can't for the life of me figure out what happened. When engaging the six button looper that has been assigned to one of the stomp switches the looper interface used to come onto the screen and show me which foot switches were assigned to effects/rec/stop ect. But this is no longer the case... NOW when I hit the looper the foot switches will light up - like they should, showing the looper is armed, and it does work - but the screen remains on the signal chain view, and I get confused... What did I do? How do I get the looper interface to come back onto the screen!?
