  1. Hey folks. I've been having a fun time with the helix reamping capabilities but I have a question that will hopefully speed the process up. Sometimes I just want to zip through some presets to see how they sound, but everytime I select a new preset I have to go to the input setting and change it from multi back to USB 3/4. Is there a way to keep that setting static to USB 3/4? Or is that a minor inconvenience I just have to deal with?
  2. Hey guys! The new Helix firmware 2.9 is here and it came with the purple channel from the amazing Revv Generator 120. Brutal sounding for sure. I put together this track with of course, my Solar Guitars A 1.6 Artist and I am using Ownhammer Impulses. This thing is sounding brutal and for those of you who are curious, it will be my monthly Helix patch that I make available to all of my supporters on Patreon as well as my new MEMBERS here on YouTube. Thanks for watching. Thanks for all the continued support. I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe and healthy. Cheers guys.
  3. Hello all! New Line 6 Helix user. In fact, new to the whole digital processing and multi effects and modeling units. So far I'm stoked with the unit. I think I was missing out a lot in terms of versatility and with regular pedals it would have been painstakingly hard to achieve so much in so little. Monetary and space-wise speaking. I am also not a professional musician. Mainly a hobby bedroom guitarist. So not a lot of sense for me to buy various amp head and cabinets. I think I, therefore, was missing out a lot by not hopping into the multi-effects modeler train earlier. Personal opinion. Having said that. Here I am: day two of messing around with the unit. I created a patch that kind of resembles Coheed and Cambria's Welcome Home -at least to my ears it gets somewhat close-. It was made strictly with factory effects and nothing more than Guitar > Helix > Headphones, no other gear used. I would like to share it with you so I can get additional input on how to improve the tone and whatever aspect you guys could think of, considering there are many, many pros here and almost ALL of you will have a broader experience in the unit, or any multi effects for that matter, than me. So, hi, again. Happy to be here and thanks in advance for the input. Welcome Home.hlx
  4. Hello all, This is my first post in the community, and I'm wondering where I can learn how to automate my Helix Rack to properly and effectively change presets as well as manipulate the values of individual chain loaded effects. Here is what I'm looking to accomplish with Helix (for live use) and as of right now I know nothing of where to start: I'm running my show with Ableton live 9 lite. I want to use MIDI tracks (envelope automation) in Ableton to change my patches throughout the songs and set, as well as automate the toggling the on/off of stompboxes and delay/reverb swells & ramp-ups of the mix percentage within each patch. All I know is that I need to assign the parameters in which I want to control to the open MIDI CC channels in Helix, but I do not know how to technically achieve this the most effective and proper way. Any input or direction to reading materials on this subject is greatly appreciated. Like i said, I know nothing about this process. Thanks! 5. Hey guys, I've been playing the helix for a couple years now and I'm considering getting the power cab. Everyone seems to agree it's a more enjoyable/inspiring experience than the floor board alone. I'm curious if the sound that you send to FOH is also better. I know it's got the same mic emulation as the Cab Blocks in the helix. Does it sound any different or better? Thanks!
  6. So I'm planning on getting a Shure SM7B and I'd really like to run it through my Helix. This is the LT version, so I'll need to use an XLR to 1/4 transformer. Hoping someone that knows more about mics (impedance, compatibility, ...) can suggest a transformer that will work. Is there anything else I need to make a proper vocal setup with the Helix LT? Can I get away with just the mic and a transformer? (I was thinking the Shure A85F)
  7. Helix: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/steve-vai.html POD Go: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/steve-vai-pod-go.html HX Stomp: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/steve-vai-hx-stomp.html I got my Steve Vai live tone done for Helix. It is live in Marketplace right now! I used the new Carvin Legacy Drive model (Legendary Drive in Helix) for this. It took me some time to crack the code to get it sounding just the way I wanted it. It has a very rich sound. The Wet/Dry/Wet signal routing is always something I have fun playing with but don't use a lot myself (since I mostly play mono venues). I've always been at least marginally happy with my dirty lead and rhythm tones but it's the cleans that have always disappointed me. I stoked to the max to have been able to nail these clean tones. Seriously, Helix "floors" me (har har) with the quality and flexibility of tones I am able to get. I had a blast making this and hope you'll all dig it. I am also working on versions of this for HX Stomp and POD Go. I'll update here when they are ready! Update 1: POD Go preset is now also here! The biggest challenge of making this tone was the fact POD Go does not have the Carvin Legacy Drive model. Being lucky enough to have Helix and POD Go side-by-side gave me the chance to audition and tweak until I could get an amp model that sounded convincing. Check the playlist of videos below and let me know what you think of my effort. POD Go is no joke. I did not feel the need to make any trade-offs bringing this awesome Vai tone. Update 2: The HX Stomp preset is live, too. Super happy about this little unit. The Stomp gives a little more wet/dry flexibility with its two paths and the Carvin Legacy Drive model. It also retains the ability to use two different cab or IR on each path which widens the stereo spread a bit. Either way, I think all three of these units are top notch and sound fantastic! 8. Hi guys, I have recently noticed on my HELIX LT that my presets sound slightly different when I copy them to another setlist. Namely, I have the very same presets in User 3 and User 4, and the same preset in User 4 sounds noticeably less alive (as if I'd dialed presence or gain back a bit). I mainly use User 3 folder to create the presets and then copy them to User 4 in the convenient order, but I've just discovered the issue above and I was wondering if there is a logical explanation behind it. Some could easily say that it is just my ears that trick me, but I've shown it to other people and they noticed it to - so the difference between the very same preset in User 3 and copied to User 4 is not huge, but definitely noticeable. And while it is easier to notice it on high-gain presets (the sound is thinner in User 4), it is definitely there for clean presets as well. Since it is the case for basically all presets that can be found in both folders, it seems like a general difference between the folders, which is strange since I don't know about any options to set something like a general EQ which is only for a certain folder. Any ideas on this, anyone?

    HELIX Support FAQ

Will there be an iOS or Android editor? Probably not, Helix's presets are extremely large, and syncing 1024 tones would take forever. As Helix is more at home in larger studios and on larger tours, it makes sense to support Mac/PC editing. Can I reamp? Yes, You can reamp two instruments simultaneously. You can even choose which two physical inputs will be sent dry to your DAW. Does Helix pass SysEx data via MIDI Thru? No. We actively filter out SysEx data through Helix. Does Helix have delay or reverb spillover? Delays, Reverbs and FX Loops have bypass trails, where they'll continue to ring out after being bypassed (if desired). But this currently no delay or reverb spillover when changing presets. Why isn't there a metal protection bar for the knobs? Helix's top panel is carved from a solid block of aluminum (like a Macbook Pro you can stomp on) and its side panels and treadle are solid aluminum as well. There's no metal protection bar because our 210 pound lead tester kicked the crap out of it and the metal knobs worked flawlessly. How do I get Helix's footswitch mapping to be like HD500X's? Stay in Preset footswitch mode. Then, the Global Settings > Footswitches menu, set: *Knob 2 (Preset mode Switches) to "Lower Row" *Knob 4 (Up/Down Switches) to "Banks" How do I customize a footswitch's label and LED color? There are two ways. *From the Footswitch Assign screen, as long as the current block is assigned to a footswitch, press Knob 6 (Customize) *From the Command Center screen, select Footswitch 1-6, 7-11, or Exp Toe and press Knob 6 (Customize) The Helix Modeling Engine Is this the same old HD engine? No, Helix utilizes an all new from the ground up advanced dual DSP processor architecture with HX models. Are ALL the models HX? Not quite. The reverbs and 8 our of 10 wahs are HD, but they've been enhanced and tweaked for inclusion in HX. The popular Line 6 custom amps Elektrik, Doom, and Epic are technically HD, but have been rebuilt inside the HX engine and many advantages of HX. All other amps, cabs, and effects have been modeled in HX from the ground up. I noticed some model names are the same as in the HD models packs. Are you sure they aren't HD? The all new models in the HD model packs came from the original Helix modeling sessions (except for the Pete Anderson Custom which is based on POD 2.0!), but they've been stripped down somewhat to run on the HD architecture. Where are the deep cab parameters? Instead of reso, thump, etc., Helix has mic distance, Low Cut, and High Cut. Model list/DSP Allocation Will the I see the DSP LIMIT REACHED message like in HD500X? Why are some items in the model list grayed out? Even though Helix has 2.3 times the DSP power of HD500X, and we have more efficient code optimization, HX models are notably more sophisticated than HD. In practice, you should get about 50% more blocks than HD500X and 60% more than HD500. However, the message popping up and telling you you've run out of DSP is gone. Instead, Helix intelligently grays out and skips over any models that can't be accommodated. How can I move a block from Path 1 to 2 (or vice versa) Currently, Helix cannot move blocks between paths. You can, however, copy and paste blocks from one path to the other (even in a different preset) How do I create parallel paths? 1. Highlight a block you want to move to a parallel path a press ACTION to "pick it up" 2. Move the joystick down to move the block to the parallel path. Troubleshooting I hear some distortion/clipping from my headphone out. Why? Helix's headphone out is designed to drive even high impedance studio headphones. If you use low impedance headphones, you may hear a bit of distortion when cranked all thew way. This is normal. Why is the AUX IN volume different from the guitar in? Helix's AUX IN has a 10k Ohm impedance, and is meant to accommodate guitars or basses with louder active pickups or line-level mono synths. My S/PDIF output is low The S/PDIF output is a copy of the internal levels. The master will not affect the output volume. If you are experiencing a quiet output with SPDF, you can add volume somewhere in the patch. Add channel volume on the amp model, or even output gain on a some dynamics. Remember that a lot of patches have lower db due to compression and EQ. Mystery Train has a lot of low end cut out of the patch that would lower the total db, but still keep the perceived volume around the same as something with higher db and more low end. Helix Rack and Control What's the difference between Helix and Helix Rack? Along with the Helix Control Remote, Helix Rack's workflow and feature set is virtually identical to that of Helix. Plus you get duplicate expression pedal jacks, a 1/4" analog bypass (buffered) output, AES/EBU in and Wordclock in with terminator switch. Presets can be freely shared across both units with no file conversion required. Is Helix Control powered from Helix Rack? Why is there a DC IN jack? Yes, Helix Control is powered from Helix Rack. if you leave its power switch on, turning Helix Rack on and off will also affect Helix Control. The DC IN is for very long cable lengths (TBD, but probably over 100 feet) and for possible future use. Helix Control does not ship with a DC-3G, as it's not necessary. Why does Helix control have a USB connector? For potential future use. Helix's Control firmware is updatable, but only while connected to the Helix Rack. which would be connected via USB to a Mac or PC. Do not connect Helix Control's local USB jack to a Mac/Pc, at last for now. Why is Helix Rack 3 spaces? Couldn't you have crammed it into 2 spaces? No, but we tried. The color screen is far too large and there are too many ins and outs to fit into 2RU. What kind of expression pedal do I use with my Helix? You can use either the Line 6 EX-1 or the Mission Engineering EP1-L6. Helix LT What am I not getting with the Helix LT? First, remember that the Helix modeling engine is exactly the same as the rack and main floor unit. All units in the Helix family will sound the same, and you will be able to transfer patches between them all. The biggest thing missing is the scribble strips and a must leaner I/O. Click here to check out all its specs. Is the on pedal screen the same? Yup, completely identical. Weights and Measurements Rack: 19 x 5.05 x 8.80 inches, 11.9 lbs Control: 17.09 x 9.46 x 2.58 inches, 7.3 lbs Floor: 22.05 x 11.85 x 3.58 inches, 14.7 lbs LT: 20.87 x 11.93 x 3.66 inches, 12.5 lbs
  10. Hi everyone, I think the best way to record with Helix is directly through USB. It gives me the most options and it is easiest to set up. However, sometimes we cannot connect through USB, because we are a someone else's studio, for instance. In that case we need to connect through an external Audio Interface (AI). When I connect my 1/4" OUT on the Helix directly to my AI (Behringer UMC404HD, but also tried this with my friend's Audient) I find that the sounds are extremely compressed. Neither the AI nor the DAW (Cubase) show that the signal is clipping, but still it sounds horrible. I'm experiencing the same thing when connecting my headphones directly to the Helix. I read that this may be cause due to the impedance of the headphones, so I bought myself a brand new set of Beyerdynamics DT770 PRO (250 Ohm) headphones, but I'm still experiencing the same thing. I tried changing the output level from Line to Instrument and also match this on the AI, but it does not resolve the compression (just lowers the volume slightly). I also tried lowering the output level on the Output block in my signal path, but this also only lowers the volume (as does the Volume Knob on the Helix). I also played with the Guitar In-Z setting on the Input block in my signal path. That seems to have some influence, but the sound is still very compressed and nowhere near how it sounds through the Power section of my amp. (I know there will always be a difference, but it really sounds uncontrollable and horribly distorted) I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what it is. I hope someone in this forum can help me out find the right settings.

  12. Hi, I’d like to use the Helix as the central piece of a very simple setup. Using it as an Audio interface to work with my laptop or iPad. I’d like to run external gear through the helix, mainly the Digitakt and record those with the guitar. Simple. I tried to hook my Digitakt to the Helix, to monitor and provide midi sync. I used returns 1/2, that’s the only option I could think of. But I need a “return” block for that, which means a whole lane just to monitor. Also means whenever I switch preset I loose the monitor... just can’t see it working. There should be some sort of “audio through” without the need for a block to be able to use it as a mixer of sorts... we got ¿9? USB outputs but it’s just not workable if you need a block every single time. As I said, you loose a lane (dedicated usb output) and there’s no way to switch presets. am I missing something?. Thanks!
  13. Hello folks, I'm interested in getting into Line 6. Does the Helix have the same number of effects (amps, cabs, mics, stomps, etc.) as the HX Stomp? I ask because I read through the two owner manuals and it appears the HX Stomp contains more? I was thinking maybe the manuals have not been updated? I like the almost unlimited patch creation/block options in the Helix as well as input/outputs, number of switches, etc. , but I also love more sound options to play with. Thanks!
  14. Hi everybody, not sure if this is the right forum, but anyway: I have been trying to remote my Helix with Cubase (Pro, 9.5) an ran into different problems. My setup is like that: We are a band with guitar (me), keyboards, and bass. Drums are programmed in Cubase with Addictive Drums and the like (on an iMac in the studio, on a MacBook Pro when playing live). Everything is nearly complete »virtual«, guitar via Helix, bass via POD X3, and keyboards all into the mixer into an 6x headphone amp. So we can practice nearly silent alltogether except the vocals anyway. In Cubase I have not only the drum tracks but also some playbacks for vocals, guitars, fx etc. For live playing, I have set up »long« Cubase tracks which contain up to 9 songs each, one after the other. I can navigate between those different segments by using »cycle markers«, which are mapped to keyboard numbers 1-9. So if I press »4« on the keyboard, Cubase jumps to the beginning of song 4, pressing »space« starts the playback. This is very, very handy. See picture. Now I had been thinking of remote controlling my Helix (connected via USB) by setting up an extra MIDI-part for every »song-segment« going out to the Helix. In this part I have (momentarily) only two controllers: one »Program Change« that sends a PC message to switch between Helix presets, and one controller »cc57« that toggles footswitch 10 in stomp mode on the Helix. Footswitch 10 is always assigned to a kind of distortion/boost fx on the Helix, used for guitar solos etc. So, when I jump to a »song« via keyboard, the Helix should the select the correct preset at first, and when it comes to my solo part and »cc57« jumps from somewhere below 64 to somewhere over 64, footswitch 10 should be activated … and when my solo part is over (and »cc57« jumps under 64) it should be de-activated. So all I send to the Helix is a Program Change and a controller message. AND IT WORKS! BUT the following problems occur: 1. When I press the space bar (start/stop) inbetween a song segment, footswitch 10 toggles as well, regardless of the »cc57« value. So it inverts the state of the footswitch, making it »de-activated« when it should be activated. 2. When I press the space bar inbetween two songs, the Helix becomes completely MUTED (no sound). When I jump to the next (or another) song start, Helix gets unmuted and live again. This might by useful for live situations but is not wanted here. What am I doing wrong? Footswitch 10 is set to »toggle« … »latching« does not work anyway. Cubase is set up to use continuous controlling and event following. Thanks in advance, best regards Opti/Alex
  15. Hi! I've recently bought a Helix Lt and I'm trying to make some settings, but I'm finding something curious in every one I made. I tried with Line6 Badonk amp + cab but when I palm mute I'm hearing a strange noise on the background while the volume is going down and then I added a noise gate, but still hearing that. Then, I tried with Archetype Lead and Revv Gen Red/Purple or even a Mandarin 80 and the noise is still there... The only way I've found to manage the noise is setting up a Hard Gate but it cuts the sound a lot... any idea? I let you here a clip that I recorded to show the problem: SoundCloud - Noise (recorded with Guitar direct to Helix LT, with input noise gate at Threshold -48dB, decay 10ms, Guitar In-Z Auto + Scream 808 with 0 gain, 6.5 tone, 10 level and Archetype Lead stock settings + Cali V30)
  16. Howdy all Have seen a bunch of expression pedal posts; seems odd that it should be such a challenge to get third party, passive expression pedals to work with a multi effect unit in this day and age, but I digress. Below are some pics of the necessary mods to a Morley M2 in order to get it to play nice with the Helix. Essentially, you disconnect lead 3 from its correspondingly numbered jumper (someone please correct my terminology here), and connect lead 3 to lead/jumper 1. The warranty-voiding mod is shown along with my sloppy soldering in thosr pics with a small red wire in them. It's possible to secure the wire manually if you're extremely dexterous or have tiny little hands or what have you, but I found it to be a little bit of a tight space to solder in. Been a fan of Morleys for awhile - they're generally tough and I favor both their shape and height, but your foot may vary. Cheers - Dan
  17. Hello, I'm having trouble getting the sound I was hoping for on the Helix, and I need some help. I'm sure it's my lack of experience with gear and effects that's the problem, not the Helix. I watched all the Jason Sadites videos and regularly read through this forum, and I do seem to be SLOWLY getting closer, but I also wonder if there is not something more fundamental wrong with my setup or settings - like guitar, monitor speakers, amp choice, etc. Here's how I'd describe the sound I'm going for: Warm, smooth, thick, rich clean tone, with some reverb/spaciousness, and a little overdrive to give it a soaring quality. I tend to prefer smoothness and warmth to pinpoint clarity and accuracy, and I definitely don't like twangy sounds. - My guitar. I have an American Elite Strat. It's great, but the single coils are probably at odds with my tonal goals. I use the neck pickup exclusively, but want it to be even more "neck-pickup-like" if that makes sense. The bridge pickups sound unusably harsh and twangy to my ears through the Helix. - I have monitor speakers connected to the Helix as my "amp". Yamaha HS7's - they are nice monitors, but possibly not as guitar "amp" and this may be part of the problem. - Over headphones, I get closer to the sound I'm looking for. Things sound spacious and rich in comparison to the monitor speaker setup. - I get a harsh digital sounding tone anytime I use a delay block. This is not as important as the main tone issue, but it is pretty pronounced, and maybe this gives a clue to what's going on. Weirdly, ping pong delay is the only one I've found that doesn't have this problem as bad. - The sound was way too harsh and digital sounding until I turned on the global EQ and dialed down the high cut to a low level, around 5kHz - Using ribbon mic's on the cabinets helps immensely as well. I've not otherwise messed with trying different cabs or cab settings... - I've experimented with different amp models, and some work better than others, but the base fenders work the best: US Double vib/nrm. - Before Helix, I used a Yamaha THR10C, and found the chorus effect to give that smooth rich sound. (it doesn't actually sound like a chorus, and I only mention this in case anyone has experience with this) Appreciate the help!! Attached is a tone example (excuse my intermediate-lollipop playing) and also a settings file in case that's useful. Thanks, JoelMAIN Headphones.hlx Test Sound Clip Main Headphones.m4a
  18. Hi everyone, i hope your'e doing well and stayin' safe. I've got a Marshall Valvestate 8240 (2 speakers with 40w on each, i assume this is an stereo combo amp) in pretty good conditions, replaced the preamp tube with an EHX 12ax7 valve and it sounds nice, with it's own EQ limitations. But i want to use the fx loop for my Helix LT amp sims. So i went to the official Line 6 youtube video about the cable setup, triying with the FX return in mono from the 1/4" output in Helix at instrument level (tried both instrument and line) but it sounds like there is phase cancellation and every amp sim within the Helix sound the SAME. Muffled, dull, no tube amp dynamics. The preset didn't have any send/return/fx loop blocks, just as the youtube video showed. Then i investigated and discovered that all valvestates have parallel fx loops (i alwys have the dry/wet knob at 100%) and it's highly possible that some preamp signal from the valvestate is bleeding to the master power amp. So i tried the 4 cable method, placing a send and return blocks in my chain with an full amp block (i've read that those amps have a nice clean master power amp so i use full amp models in Helix) and it sounded more real, but i still hear the phase cancellation. The Helix amp reacts much better with this setup but i also read that if i'm using the fx mono return i'm only getting one power amp side since it's an stereo combo and this maybe is the cause of the phase issues. I'm getting frustated with this fx loop thing, i'm sure i can unload my rig's full potential, but i would love to hear if someone uses his beloved Helix with an stereo combo SS amp with parallel fx loop and how. I'm about to sell my Valvestate, but i please tell me if it's worth to keep. Thanks for your help
  19. Hi all Just updated my Helix to 2.8 and Powercab to 2.0... been awaiting this update since I first bought helix... even sold my DT50 as I expected no helix dt50 connection would happen.... just to see it does now... nonetheless i am more than happy with my powercab plus. Now I have been a user of PODs since 2.0 and always have striven to get the max out of the amazing hardware Line 6 puts up.. and after all these years waiting to control my amp (DT50 112 before and now powercab plus 112) i get into a conundrum: Helix only allows powercab settings BY PRESET. With the advent of snapshots Line 6 did a HUGE, HUMONGOUS step that made a lot of us super happy... specially JTV Variax users like me... finally without any problems I could play acoustic and a banjo and an electric guitar IN THE SAME PRESET! But here is where it gets interesting... with powercab allowing only PER PRESET settings... I cannot change powercab presets PER Snapshot.... Yes i could do it all in the helix and use a FRFR for the preset but I didn't buy the PC Plus for that I bought it so I could use IRs and allow more power to be used in the helix.... I have looked but so far I can only see changing the powercab preset is not possible using snapshots... Any ideas?
  20. Does someone at Line 6 or Yamaha - or someone here - have an updated f/x, AMP and speaker models list for 2.82 on a spreadsheet they can share? Not just the adds - the whole thing, all the models on Helix as of 2.82. Doesn't it make sense to have a consistently updated, living document somewhere?
  21. Hello Is it possible to use the Helix hx effects to switch between all four channels on a ENGL powerball amp? I have previously had problems with channel switching when using a Carl martin octa switch. When using this I can only switch between clean and crunch channels when using a mono jack. When I use a stereo jack I can switch between crunch and lo-gain, but I want to be able to switch between clean and lo lead (can't even access the hi-lead channel). Is it possible to choose any of the four channels I want when connecting the helix hx to my channel gain input on the back of my amp? I haven't bought a Helix yet cause this is a very important feature for me, so I want to be sure it can do it before buying. Thanks :)
  22. Anyone using helix floor with Ableton 10? I’ve been using both for a couple years(Ableton since v8) but I can’t get ableton to switch the sample rate for helix away from 48k... the menu is grayed out. Helix 2.9, driver updated, sample rate switches to 96k in helix prefs, system prefs on MacBook Pro set to helix, any ideas?
  23. Hey, I updated to 2.90 then immediately updated to 2.91 but my tuner is still not working properly. There is a 4-5 second lag from what I play into it and what it displays. What should I do?? Thanks
  24. UPDATED AND CORRECTED!!! My apoligies for the incorrect numbers (I read the timescale incorrectly on my Oscope screen) In the original post. I'd like to begin by saying I've been very impressed with my helix so far. I'm really enjoying it, and I am not posting this to bash it in any way whatsoever. But I'm naturally curious, and mostly unhappy with the SPDIF I/O, and wanted to really understand why, which is what prompted this whole experiment. With all the connection possibilities I have been experimenting hooking different pieces of gear I own to the various I/Os, with some great, and some not so great results. One of the biggest questions I've had has been with the digital I/Os. Is it actually faster to use SPDIF? Logic would say yes. No A/D conversion. It has to be faster right? Well I haven't been so happy with Helix in that regard. My 2 notes torpedo Hasn't sounded as good as I think it should through the SPDIF I/O. So I started digging online. What I found was a lot of nonsense. Threads saying that each foot of cable added 1ms of latency (this is wrong by the way) and people claiming that Helix is sub 1ms latency. hmmm Just a few quick numbers, as tested on my Helix floor with an O scope straight thru on a blank preset. Each and every time you convert A/D -> D/A it's 1.8 ms ...Yes that means each loop you engage adds 1.8 ms So to be clear. guitar in + 4 loops (in series) + 1/4" out = 9ms maximum of latency due to A/d conversion 4 cable method should clock in at around 3.6ms (assuming no other effects in circuit) SPIDIF I/O appears to not run as fast as as the standard I/Os 48k runs slightly faster then 44.1k 88k or 96k I tested this by looping spdif send and return to itself. As you add gear latency will increase due to the outboard gear. Other interesting notes about the SPDIF I/O there is no option for sync (internal vs spdif) and it connects to my two notes torpedo and transmits and receives audio even when the two units are set to entirely different sync and sample rate settings. There's also other spdif weirdness but as I said it's not my intent to bash Helix, so I won't go into them here. On the positive side, adding blocks does not appear to slow the unit down much. like less than .2ms for an amp. I haven't thoroughly tested this but a real quick check loading blocks up till I started to run out of DSP and very little change in latency. IR Blocks may have more latency associated with them but that is probably more due to the nature of what an IR actually is rather than processing power My takeaways. Use the internal blocks in helix as much as possible. Minimize A/D conversion. Stereo loops (parallel) are 1.8ms for both Serial loops are 1.8ms each Avoid using SPDIF for live playing (it's fine for re-amping etc) Anyway... I thought I'd share this. Rock On ✌
  25. Can we have the 6 switch looper in the HX Stomp in the next update? I just want to use some of the features, like the 1/2 speed and reverse.
