Hi Everyone, I have been in search of a juicy, thick clean and overdrive tone, something which i can see Boss GT1000 and Fractal FX are phenomenally capable of, whereas, I have not been able to get there. When I say thick clean & overdrive tone, i mean the high notes are ringing with lots of juice, whether clean or in overdrive/distortion. Here are some examples - For overdrive/distortion - Any suggestion would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello all, This questions would have been raised I presume many times and I have looked through all the internet. I have watched youtube videos and so on but I can't make up my mind. I currently play guitar, bass (active bass mostly) and various other instruments. However, one thing stops me, the price... in Euros 400€ difference for just a "few things" they say. But I read a lot, the pedal is better, the scribble strips is amazing and the amount of various type of inputs/outputs is over amazing. I want to know, should I pay 400 more "just" for that or is it going to be an utter waste of money? Please ask me questions if you want. I'll be happy to answer if that means you can guide me more to my purchase. I play with Fender Strats, and Teles. I have also few basses but my main one is an active Ibanez Thank you! Hi, I have gotten the Helix floor unit and love it. It has replaced a lot of analog and heavy gear. I got the official backpack and it is great quality. My problem is that it is a bit heavy and gives me back pain. I want to find a luggage/baggage with wheels so I can roll it around. Not looking for a hard case with wheels, but like a bag you take when going on vacation in a plane. Not sure if I got the name of it right. Something like this type: Has anyone found one that would fit the Helix unit? I was looking online and there is no easy way to find one that has the right measures. Was also considering if it should be slightly larger inside than the helix, so I could add some padding. I am thinking something lightweight with wheels that is slightly larger than the helix where I can add some padding. Anyone tried something like this?

Hi All, I created a patch for Linux Kernel 5.3 to enable HX stomp/Helix I need some help to confirm that is working properly. In particular would be really helpful if you can try the kernel 5.3 and confirm the USB ID for Helix devices case USB_ID(0x0E41, 0x4242): /* Line6 Helix Rack */ case USB_ID(0x0E41, 0x4244): /* Line6 Helix LT */ case USB_ID(0x0E41, 0x4246): /* Line6 HX-Stomp */ case USB_ID(0x0E41, 0x424a): /* Line6 Helix LT - firmware >= 2.8 */ This is displayed in dmesg when the device is discovered (open dmesg -w and then plug the device) [ 322.404503] usb 1-6: new high-speed USB device number 13 using xhci_hcd [ 322.531804] usb 1-6: New USB device found, idVendor=0e41, idProduct=4246, bcdDevice= 2.00 [ 322.531806] usb 1-6: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=3, SerialNumber=2 [ 322.531806] usb 1-6: Product: HX Stomp [ 322.531807] usb 1-6: Manufacturer: LINE 6 [ 322.531808] usb 1-6: SerialNumber: 3021888 [ 322.535789] usb 1-6: parse_audio_format_rates_v2v3(): unable to retrieve number of sample rates (clock 16) [ 322.535907] usb 1-6: parse_audio_format_rates_v2v3(): unable to retrieve number of sample rates (clock 16) In particular if the device is supported the last two lines will show as unable to retrieve number of sample rates set it to default as 48Khz What I need is a list of helix like devices and the list of idVendor, IdProduct. Can you help me? Also for Line6 did the new update to support the new Mac Os X bring some news for Linux Users as well?? Thanks Nick

Hi - i got the Celestion pack of Suhr IRs... when i put them in helix, i can't see the full name in helix or in helix edit. for example the Suhr Badger V30 112 C Hi-Gn 421+121 Celestion shows up in the list, but only as Suhr Badger V30 112 C Hi-Gn. the problem is there are 4 or 5 versions of this (different mic/room combos) and it makes it impossible to know which is which when adding to a patch. I could shorten the name before importing, but it's nice to be able to refer to the original names. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hey Folks, I’m starting a new post about the Line 6 PowerCab. I find it pretty difficult to get my hands on good an accurate information’s about the PC product. There a lot of content on YouTube, but you never can experience the real deal that Line 6 claims « the Amp in the Room feel ». Line 6 designed the PC with this in mind. My personal journey with digital modellers: So after using Line 6 products for the last year or so (HX Stomp then grabbed a Floor unit). ¸ I’ve been using and active monitor to run my Guitar and Bass tones. The EV ELX112P has been doing a very good job so far. I’ve decided to pick this exact model because it’s a plywood cabinet and not plastic. I find it very important to have a wood material in order to get better responses from the cabinet. PC Flat mode and Speaker mode: Right off the bat the first time I plugged in the PC+ I’ve used the Flat mode to run IR or cab block from the HX. I’ve done a comparison on the Flat mode speaker voicing. (FRFR, LF FLAT, LF RAW). LF RAW mode really stands out. This mode turns off the 1’’ tweeter speaker. Then I got to try out the Speaker mode this is the mode that Line 6 claim to achieve « amp in the room ». With the PC+ you have 12 speaker emulations to choose from. My impression is that they sound fantastic! They really stand out giving you more… amp in the room feel. The Speaker mode really sounds different from the Flat mode, which you would be using IR with. They seem to give you a convincing tone without a lot of tweaking required. PC overall power and volume levels: First off from all the reviews and post I’ve read on the forum I was afraid the PC wasn’t going to be loud enough with a full band. I’ve made my custom patch in order to use to PC+ with my Blues band. I did use Logic Pro X to monitor my level coming out of the HX Floor, I aim at -10dB is level. I did make sure the indicator light of the PC was turning yellow when I really dig into the guitar strings. To sum it up… Yes, the PC is loud enough to play with a full band and be heard. PC is a 1x12 Cab not a 2x12 or 4x12 Cab: I think it’s important to talk about the fact that the PC is a 1x12 speaker cabinet. Don’t be fooled, if you think that by using a 4x12 IR your PC+ will transform itself in a Marshall 4x12… Well the logical answer is that it won’t. It’s a 1x12 cabinet, it will never be able to push the amount of air a 4x12 cab is capable of. You’ll be able to use 2x12 or 4x12 or 4x10 etc. IR but they won’t sound authentic and real. PC Verdict: It’s expensive, it sounds really good, giving you a more rewarding tone from your modeller. It’s lightweight, powerful, the speaker is voiced for guitar vs a PA speaker. The PC+ has midi or AES/EBU capabilities which are a plus, you can select speaker models, modes etc. on the fly. (Served with your patch)

There is a problem existing where there wasn't before. The issue is on my Helix Floor, without making any changes that would permit this, when I'm in tuning mode it is not cutting the signal completely. I get a clear audible signal coming through. It worked properly and then for no reason of mine it is not working as it should.

Hello, I am thinking about picking up a HX Stomp to hopefully replace my amp. The only issue is that I run a preamp pedal that uses a 4 cable method to keep my external effects in the fx loop of my amp. The Preamp pedal runs a line into the front of the amp so I can still use my amps preamp, and also runs a line into the fx loop for when I want to use the Preamp pedal. Basically when the preamp pedal is off it acts as if it isn't in the chain and my amp works as normal, but when I turn on my preamp pedal it by passes my amps preamp. To illustrate my normal pedal board is routed this way: First Part: Guitar >>> Front Pedals(Comp, Overdrive, etc..) >>> Preamp (FIrst Input) >>> Amps Normal Input Second Part: Amp FX Send >>> Preamp (Second Input) >>> (Preamp Pedal FX Send) >>> Delay >>> Reverb >>> Amp FX Return I would love to be able to insert my pedalboard as a block in order to take advantage of placing effects in front of my pedals. As far as I can tell, the only way to do this is to chain your guitar into the HX stomp then from your HX Stomps FX Send into your pedal board and back to the FX Return of the Stomp. So my question is, can anyone see a way to make this work either within the HX Stomp itself or even with some external hardware? Thanks!

I have been using my Helix Floor as an audio interface for Cubase. It generally works great. The Cubase stereo tracks come into the Hx via USB 1/2 and I use the XLR outs to feed my active studio monitor. I can send the guitar output of my Presets to USB 5/6 and the Mic input to USB 3/4. It even lets me reamp by sending a dry guitar part back into the Hx via USB 7. So far, so good. Yesterday my PowerCab 212+ showed up. I'm feeding the PowerCab via the L6 Link using an ordinary XLR cable. Sounds great - I LOVE this amp. But all is not good in paradise: The Cubase tracks coming into the Hx are feeding my active monitors via the XLRs as usual, and now also playing (very loudly) on the PowerCab via the L6 Link. Cubase is just sending tracks via ASIO Helix and USB 1/2. It doesn't see hardware past that, so I can't "switch off" the PowerCab from the DAW Does anyone have advice on how to change the routing so that the PowerCab doesn't see the DAW? Or maybe know how to configure the L6 Link port? Thanks mucho in advance, Mike

Hi, I’m new to the helix so I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right place or what the story is here but I’m just looking for advice as I’ve a few questions. so I bought a helix lt to replace my pedal board and to use the amp models too for certain fly in shows or where ever it will make things easier. I’m wondering how I can set it up so that overdrives etc go into front of the amp (real amp) and delays etc go into the fx loop. I also wanna know how to do that too with the digital amps in the helix itself too. Thanks

Hi! Yesterday I tried to update my floor Helix to 2.82. I updated my L6 Updater, downloaded the 2.82 file, and hooked up the usb. Everything went as it should until the Helix went through the reboot. I got the "Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode" message with the scrolling helix and red load line moving left to right and then stopping at the far right. There is a :-3 in the upper left (see pics) I spent the rest of the afternoon on the Google looking for fixes. I found different things to try...different usb cables, different usb ports, etc. I even tried a different computer. I also tried the b6/b12 safe boot and all I get is "Entered Update Mode" message, but just the message (see pic). I even tried the b5/b6 global reset and it reverts back to the "Boot Failure" message. The problem as I can see it is this: L6 Updater doesn't recognize the Helix is there in order for me to do anything to it. Windows does, as it makes the audio alert when I plug the cable in. I'm at a loss at this point. HELP!

Hey everyone hoping someone can help me here. I'm trying to get my setup always "ready to role" based on my situation. I have my Helix setup to my PC through USB, setting the helix as amp and the cabinet is selected on the Powercab+ 112 using an AES cable between the helix and powercab. Using Variax as main work horse tl:dr - does anyone know if the AES Digital Output option can capture the final result and play it in protools? or am i doomed to just use the cabs in the Helix and only use the powercab at 'flat' settings? i am outputting the sound with 'digital' to use the AES cable. i have a keyboard hooked up thru the interface as well. it is using AUX in for direct audio playback, but then midi output for midi controlling in pro tools Because of this, path 1 input is VARIAX is outputting to DIGITAL path 2 input is AUX and output is USB 1/2 I'm able to record audio tracks fine from the keyboard in this setup, as well as capture midi. I'm also needing to make sure i can always do the ghost capture for raw guitar input (i have that on USB 7 no issues) If i set the output of path 1 to USB 3/4 i get the audio of the guitar without the settings in PowerCab. Main issue appears to be that - DIGITAL does not send/recieve - only really sends to PowerCab, and i'm not going to be able to capture that unless i have audio sending from the powercab back into the helix - but in this situation it is now a problem because i would have to change the Path 2 to support this audio. so back to the tl:dr - does anyone know if the AES Digital Output option can capture the final result and play it in protools? or am i doomed to just use the cabs in the Helix and only use the powercab at 'flat' settings?

Going into regular amp using helix amp or preamp WITHOUT cabinet or IRs Experimenting because I feel like there's already a real speaker in this scenario and an emulated one can make it sound muddied or 2nd generation. The sound feels more present just using real speaker, not modeled. I do like some of the qualities that come with the cabinet, eliminating some harshness produced by an amp on its own. Appreciate any musings on EQ or FX that would be nice after the Helix amp and before the real amp. I've been playing with eq and compressors I'm going into a Roland KC-550 and KC-500 stereo, and a Egnater Tweaker through a Carvin 212. Straight in on the Rolands. On the Tweaker still playing with input vs effects return. ~cheers

Has anyone used this keyboard foot controller with the Helix? I'm guessing that it is used like a midi controller into the Helix??? The linked video shows him using this unit with a GSi Gemini. ..... I should be able to run the "midi pedalboard into the midi control of the Helix? Obviously I know nothing of which I speak. I don't use midi gear (not yet anyway). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NKm4pfmyKE

My Helix is allowing a signal through my tuner all of the sudden where it wasn't before hand. Nothing was changes settings wise. I tried restarting the unit and the problem persists. Any thoughts on what is happening here?

Hi, I just bought Peak FCB4N2 to use with my HX Stomp. I thought that I would be able to assign pedals to Peak's footswitches but I still can't find a way to do it. Right now I can only change presets. I've tried the learning function in bypass assign but it still doesn't registered to the FS. Is it Possible at all since Peak labeled it as midi switching product? I'm quite new to MIDI control stuff. Please excuse my english, it's not my native language.

Hey Guys, Today I answer a question I've received a few times, Do I use global EQ settings with the Line 6 Helix? Short answer, yes. I go over what I do, the settings I use, and why.

Does anyone know of a successful way to route the USB Channels to Helix's sends for backtrack use? From ableton I'm trying to send click out 1, bass out 2, guitars/production out 3/4, and BG vocals out 5/6. I can't seem to get any of the routing to happen without manually creating a path on the second open chain in each patch. This only results in two active outputs. Is it not possible to make this happen?

Line 6 should provide an indepth FX parameters manual similar to their « M5, M9 & M13 FX ParaMeters manual » for the Helix/HX family. I know, most parameters are obvious, but there are some nebulous ones as well as some effects that could use some more detailled description. Even some useful tips & tricks from the developpers. There are a lot of stuff there and it could save us a lot of time... hope my prayer will be heard somewhere on cloud 6: I’ve actually enjoyed and found these kind of manuals very useful for the M series And for the pod X3.

Anyone else notice a significant difference between the following: - Recorded Helix playback - ie guitar track recorded by helix, into software and then played back - And live playing ie just playing into helix (not recording), sound coming out of speaker Both of the above use the same amplification (powercab set to FRFR) I noticed scenario one sounds much better! Sidenote: when i use my variax I always prefer the recorded playback to the sound I get when playing live. Anyone else experienced anything similar. It is frustrating as the tone I want is provided via the recorded playback - not so keen the live sound i'm getting. If any of the above makes sense i'd appreciate some help. Thanks, Dave

Ok so I'm sure you've seen this question before, but I couldn't find anything specific to my needs in the search... I'm thinking about purchasing an LT or Floor (thoughts on this welcome, too) and had a question about using it in different settings. So I've got a Vox AC30 that lives an hour away at my rehearsal space, my band practices once a week so I don't get much time with my amp. I'm thinking about a Helix because I like the idea of having a silent practice tool at home (I have three young kids and no place to play loudly, ever) and a way to create sounds for my band outside of the rehearsal space. Does anyone here have experience working with a Helix and a Tube amp where they are creating presets and shaping their sound remotely from their main source of amplification? How does it work for you? Can you create sounds leveraging the models for your amp at home then remove the amp / cab when you go 4CM with the amp in person? How does it translate? Thanks for any thoughts!

helix DT amps won't respond to Helix floorboard (Midi/L6 link)
exquosum posted a topic in DT50 / DT25
Hi! I'm sending this message regarding the Variax setup of a friend. First he bought a Line 6 Variax JTV 69S (sunburst strat) and played it through his HD500 pod into a 2x12 clean amp. But he read, heard and saw so many good things about the new Variax equipment that he decided to give it a spin. Over the last year he picked up a DT25 (1x12 combo) and a DT50 (2x12 combo). About a month ago he completed the setup with buying the main processor, the Helix Floorboard. Everything seems to be working fine. We followed the manual while setting up and it's all registrered in his Line 6 account. It's up and running in Monkey 6, line 6 updater and the Helix firmware is updated to the latest version. But we can't get the amplifiers to work from the floorboard. The 69S is connected to the floorboard through Variax Digital Interface cable. Then we hooked up the L6 line from the board to DT25 and then DT50. No result. Then we added the Midi cables (brand Roland black series) from Floorboard out/thru -> DT25 in & DT25 thru -> floorboard in. Just to see if it would work on 1 amp. No result. Plus when changing the pentode/triode switch on the amp it started to make loud burning, crackling, buzzing noises. (I think that was caused by the connection of the L6 AND midi.) We disconnected the L6 link. Also without result. Tried the same with the DT50. After not getting any result we tried to update the amplifier's firmware through midi, but it didn't get recognized. This guide: Everytime we get the same 'undefined error'. Midi device is the Helix Floorboard of course. We have absolutely no idea how to fix this and get the amps to respond to Helix floorboard adjustments. Already tried A/B'ing some settings in the floorboard menu. Hopefully somebody has any idea what can be wrong and how this can be solved. With kind regards! J.
