Hi gang, It seems the Helix Rack's looper can't stop playback and start a new recording whilst in playback mode unless it receives a stop-playback MIDI CC message first. It also seems the stop-playback message needs to be received 20-21ms before the start-recording message, otherwise the latter is sometimes/often not acknowledged. Is there any way to have the start-recording function override and force playback to stop? Or alternatively is there an adjustable setting that'll make the Helix process the pair of stop/start of messages quicker? I'm looking for immediacy with this so I can emulate glitching effects. Sending the two messages within 15-20ms is useable yet unreliable, and anything under 15ms registers only the stop-playback message, leaving the start-recording message overlooked. Anything above 21ms is consistently reliable, but the latency is off-putting. What are my options? Cheers! Dawes

Hey guys... I open the new thread just to start discussing the upcoming 2.9 firmware update. Given the fact that it's been five months since the release of the 2.8 firmware... and we already know that the remaining Revv Generator channels are in the pipeline... Does anyone have a gut feeling of when and what's coming next? Would DI or Frank Ritchotte be so kind to give any signs on it? Thanks very much in advance. P.s: Sorry to be the guy throwing the first stone and start the snowball.

I'm experiencing terrible noises due to lack of clock sync between Reaper and Helix, used as an USB audio interface. I tried to set the same sample rate but the noises are still there in the recording. Can someone please help me fix this issue and explain me (like I'm a 5 y o kid) how to make the Helix the master and Reaper the slave? Thanks in advance!

Replacing the rubber feet on the underside of my Helix and see that several have been scraped (from after the original feet wore down) so badly that the Philips heads are no longer functional. Anybody know what size the screws are? Would prefer to save a trip to the Home Depot with the corresponding frustration of trying to manipulate tiny screws into the thread gauge to size them.

I am a relatively new user to the Helix and I'm having an issue with latency when I'm switching between snapshots in a given bank. When I purchased the unit it had firmware 2.3 installed and I updated to the latest firmware version and everything went smoothly. I cannot say for sure but I felt like I wasn't getting a latency issue when switching between snapshots before the update and if I understand correctly I shouldn't be having that issue. Like I said, I'm not sure if the latency was existing before the update but it is definitely present now and it will make my music unplayable due to dynamics and what not. If anyone can give me some insight here that would be super appreciated, thank you.

Hi everyone, First time poster. I have read through the topics here on the forum but it seems like the topic has not been covered. Been using the helix floor for a year now. Great piece of gear! It is in my understanding that using snapshot is the way to go to change parameters with a patch without the ''sound gap'' you would get by switching presets. So I've been using snapshots for in-song changes, and presets for song-to-song (which seems to be common). Until now everything worked fine. I updated to 2.82 lately. I have a couple of presets based on the same ''rig''; the only thing that tends to stay the same would be the amp settings. Effects and snapshot changes. Last week I started to experience a ''sound gap'' (like the one you get when you change presets). Strangely, it seems to be related to when 2 presets are the same, within the setlist. I tried to build the preset from scratch instead of copying it, but as soon as I match the amp settings, I get that problem when I go through the snapshots. I don't know if someone encountered a similar problem, or even if I did explained it well, but if anymore encountered a similar issue, or have a fix... Thanks in advance for your help. English is not my primary language but I'll try to give more details if some of you have question Thank you, Cédric

After update many presets (not all) had no output. Seems that any preset that reroutes to path 2A or 2B is muted BECAUSE the input to 2A/B defaults to none and there is no option to select 2A/B. Rerouting the output from 2A to XLR,1/4 inch outputs reestablish's output but the 2A path seems unavailable. Updated the firmware on my Helix floor unit to 2.8. All went smooth and backed up before update. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanx

Ok, so I am a noob to Helix, but not a complete noob. I'm a software developer, good with tech. But, I'm seeing some weird behavior with editing snapshots in HX Edit that doesn't seem to match up with how they are supposed to work. Before I dig into this, let me say my global preferences are set to discard changes to snapshots. So, I have to save them or they get discarded. So I have this lead patch, and I want that exact setup for Snapshot 2, but I want to customize Snapshot 1 and save it as a more dialed down sound. Basically 1=rhythm, 2=lead. I bypass a couple of effects, and I make some significant tweaks to parameters on the 10-band EQ. I save the patch (thus saving my snapshot changes), then switch to Snapshot 2. When I do that, the bypassed pedals are no longer bypassed, which is what you would expect. However, the EQ parameters stay the same. They don't bounce back to Snapshot 2 settings. If I now edit them again, save the patch, and go back to Snap1, they are once again NOT restored to Snap1 EQ settings. What gives here? My understanding is it should restore the individual parameters on each block?

Has anyone tried to build any of the EHX "9" series types of effects presets? I have the B9 and wondering if anyone has simulated any of the "9" series pedals or should I just continue buying the ones I like the best?

Hello! I am relatively new to the Helix / variax scene. I have had my helix for a few months, and just picked up a JTV-69S yesterday along with a Variax ethernet cable.. Here's the scenario: Lets say that I have a preset that is set up for Variax acoustic models. How can I assign foot switches on the Helix such that foot switch 1 brings up "Acoustic D", footswitch 2 brings up "Acoustic D12" etc. It would be very handy to have one preset that allows control of multiple Variax models. Thanks, and I look forward to your replies.

Hello All - Writing to get some expertise on an issue I'm having with the 6 button looper on the Helix (LT if it matters)... The issue is simple, and I hope there's a simple answer but I can't for the life of me figure out what happened. When engaging the six button looper that has been assigned to one of the stomp switches the looper interface used to come onto the screen and show me which foot switches were assigned to effects/rec/stop ect. But this is no longer the case... NOW when I hit the looper the foot switches will light up - like they should, showing the looper is armed, and it does work - but the screen remains on the signal chain view, and I get confused... What did I do? How do I get the looper interface to come back onto the screen!?

Hi, I'm not even sure this is possible, but I'd like to buy a copy of Helix Native. I know it is currently on sale, but it is still a little steep for me as I am only a hobbyist and cannot really justify the cost. But if it is possible to buy a legitimate licence for the software second hand I'd love to. I could pay $150. Please message me if you would like to sell your licence - if you know how to go about it, it would be helpful to hear from you too. Thanks in advance, for your help.

I have been running my Helix through a powered single speaker, but i have sold it and i have a Behringer EPA 900 (https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EPA900--behringer-europort-epa900), i am actually thinking it may be better through the Behringer system as it will be in stereo but i'm not sure how to best connect the Helix to the EPA 900. If you look at the EPA900 it has 8 channels, 5/6 and 7/8 can be used as stereo. Now with the inputs on channels 5/6 and 7/8 only being 1/4" or RCA im not sure which connection method best to use. Do i run dual 1/4" cables from the 1/4" outs on the back of the Helix, or do i use the S/PDIF outs to the RCA inputs on those channels Or possibly some other method i havent thought of Any help will be greatly appreciated Thanks

Has anyone had an issue with their spdif volume being way too low? I can't hear 1/4 of the volume from the Helix through my monitors as I do any other track, and that's with the volume blasted all the way up. I plug in the old HD500, and it's plenty loud. Plug in Helix, and It's horribly quiet. Anyone have any ideas? I also have a help desk ticket open because my computer won't recognize Helix as being connected when I try to use the Helix edit app or the Line 6 updater. Thanks for any help! Joe

Hi! I have a Helix LT, a Keith Mcmillen 12 step with Keith Mcmillen Midi expander, and a Roland Integra-7. I am mainly a guitarist, but I use the 12 step as a midi controller to play keys/synth through the Integra-7. Because I have different patches for different songs on both the Helix and the 12 step, I would like to set up my helix to do all the preset changes. So basically what I want to do is to send a midi program change to the 12 step when I select a spesific preset on the Helix, so I don't have to change presets on a lot of devices between the songs in a live set. Does anyone know how I can set this up on the helix?

Hi everyone, I have a Helix Floor unit and in December I'll be using it for my first ever gig. I've been looking into Volume Leveling of patches and presets, but I can't seem to find any (pleasing) information about how to use the Volume knob on the Helix. The information I found so far suggests I should turn the Volume knob al the way up as I plug the Helix in Front-of-House (PA) and adjust it to get the right volume. Now, I've been told that at the venue of the gig there will be a mic'ed up Marshall half stack where I can plug the Helix Output into the FX Loop's Return to make use of the power section of the Amp (Front-of-House would probably not work out for some reason). I also should bypass any Speaker emulation in the Helix because it will sound weird this way. I tried a similar setup last night and found that my overall Volume went way up. I needed to set the Master Volume on the Amp to 1 and the Volume knob on the Helix to around 10 o'clock and that was already louder than before. Is this normal? Can anyone point me to good information about the use of the Volume knob on the Helix?

I'm new to Reaper, but is anyone else having issues with Reaper not recognizing their helix drivers? The Asio driver is recognized in the Cakewalk software I've been using, but Reaper doesn't seem to recognize it and keeps saying "unable to recognize" with Asio. However, it plays through "direct sound" but has major latency issues. Anyone have any recommendations?

Okay, another new Helix owner question: I have presets for different songs and, like I'm sure a lot of you are, I'm using this thing only at church. I want to have different presets for different songs, even though I generally use the same sound (amp, drive pedals, etc) simply so that I can have tempos in place for the delays as I can't be bending down to enter stuff in manually every song and don't want to go back to tapping (I'm coming from a TimeLine after all so I'm kinda spoiled). However, there is a VERY noticeable gap in sound between presets. It's quick, sure, but it's still there and blatantly obvious. Anybody have any ways around this? This could very well be a dealbreaker which would really be a shame as I am otherwise loving the heck out of this thing! Thanks, Robbie

Hi everyone, I own an helix LT and I've tried out some bass tones out of line6 customTone. I dig the one for Djent/prog stuff, based on Nolly's sound, and also some Darkglass-lish stuff. In addition to those distorted sounds, I wish to craft a more clean/compressed sound in the vibe of Obscura (Cosmogenesis) or Necrophagist (Epitaph). I'm aiming to go back and forth between those sounds depending on the riff type. Any ideas ? Sylv

Hey, i recently got my HX STOMP, I play bass (metal band) and the way i have it set it up in my preset is i split crossover the signal into a high freq and a low freq. I added a compressor into the low freq chain and thats it, and into the high freq i use distortion and a cab sim. My question is: Can i send a signal to my cab (without the cab sim) for stage fill and a signal with the cab sim on to the FOH (that would be my main sound) Thanks a lot!

Hello on my Helix-Floor, I would like to control the looper using an external switch. Is this possible? If yes, is there any guideline on how to connect and configure the external switch? Much appreciated

I have a Helix Floor unit in excellent condition that I'd like to trade for the rack mount with the controller. Also, I will include the Gator G-TOUR PEDALBOARD-LGW ATA Wood Tour Case. I am a touring musician out of Nashville and I want to build a rack for touring to include my IEMs, Wireless guitar unit, and rack effects. So, moving to the rack model will just make life easier. (I hope LOL!) If you're interested feel free to email me at blackburnguitar@gmail.com and we can work out the details! Thank you!

Last week the exp pedal on my LT started getting tighter and tighter, and today it just stopped working. The pedal is still tight, and although it goes up and down it just stopped working (the click to swap between exp 1 and 2 is still fine). The pedal being tight shouldn't be much of an issue, probably fixable if i loosen up the screw on the side, but I think this looks like a problem with the optical sensor of the exp pedal. As far as I know we don't have any official line 6 customer service here in Spain and I bought it used, so no warranty whatsoever. Trying to come up with some DIY solutions, so I would love to hear your feedback Cheers!

I am a new user of Helix (great product) Bought patches and snapshots from Glenn DeLaune - really fantastic products :) Got som "problems" with the patches. It turned out that I had done something wrong when I downloaded the newest updates from Line6  Glenn found where the problem was. He is a very great and patient guy, answered my mails quickly. No doubt where I will buy my next patches Big tanks to You Glenn ;)
