  1. Hello! I own an Helix floor and I'm looking for an external expression pedal in order to drive whammy effects amon others. I plan buying a Boss FV-500L. What do you think about this plan? Will it work weel with helix floor? If so, should I connect it to Helix with a TS cable? Thanks!
  2. So we are starting to receive our units and I was wondering what everyone was going to use as far as a carrying case? Anyone know of any cases specifically for the helix?
  3. I'm interested in getting the HX effects and would like to be able to use it for switching amp channels. I have a Randall RG1503 Head which uses a 6 pin din cable for the footswitch. So I'm wondering if there is there any way that a 6 pin din can be converted to 1/4" so that I can use it with HX effects? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  4. Hi all, Since about 3 months I switched from full tube setup to Helix floor + Powercab 112 plus. Reason to travel more light. It's a fun and intuitive setup. However I have not managed to get my basic sounds even close to the authentic sound and punch I was used to. Too digital, too processed. I have went through all possible settings, tweaks, research to ensure to get the best out of the tools. I'm not convinced it can deliver the sound 'with balls' which is a default with any tube amp. Sound used to be my strong side during gigs, it has now become my weakness. The band and audience even tell me my sound is not in comparison with the other guitarist (simple tube amp and few pedals). Can't here you, not defined tone etc. My Helix journey is becoming a frustration and want to enjoy playing again instead. Here the reason of my post. As a final solution, before deciding to sell my Helix and powercab, I am considering to buy a good tube preamp pedal (e.g. Mesa Boogie V-twin, Koch Pedaltone and loop it with the helix. That could give me those true basic sounds. I'd use the tube pedal as amp channels exclusively and use the Helix for effects and programs basically. This solution would still allow me to travel light. Does anyone know if above could be a good solution or would I still miss the tube sound from a power amp? Also does anyone know if tube pedals allow the Helix to select the different channels from the pedal (so you can program clean/overdrive/high gain in presets like you can with 4 cabling method with tradional amps)? Appreciate any advice/experience sharing on above (no need to convince I should continue Tweaking my Helix, I tried all. Simply not satisfied and not enjoying the journey any longer). Thanks!

  6. I'm new to this forum but have been using a Helix LT for about a year. I play a Sandberg 5 string active bass into the Helix LT and then direct into a Beringer X-air mixer to the PA. The band play funk/pop/light rock and the stage is silent (IEMs). I put together a simple set of 4 snapshots with a basic rig of the LA compressor and Cali 400 amp, and then have clean/dirty (tube)/Octaver/Wah snapshots that switches on the blocks. I recently bought a couple of presets from the web for bass synth and have noticed that the levels were much louder than my DIY setup. I would like to re-visit my original patch but would benefit from advice from the forum about the basics I should observe. There is nothing wrong with my DIY patch other than my perception that others are doing it better, and my observation that as I have never owned a bass amp I am not modelling a 'sound' with the Helix so I have nothing to compare. For example: bass amp choice for a clean/funk sound thoughts about the myriad settings on each amp (drive/level/master etc) - for someone who hasn't owned an amp amp only vs. amp+cab (I assumed the 'cab' is now the PA, so I've gone with a clean sound like you would in a studio) which compressor is good for bass guitar and and simple tips (I know there is tons on the web about compression - but Helix/bass guitar specific) compressor position in chain how to make gentle distortion (think 'Sex on Fire' / 'Mr Brightside' levels) how to optimise the wah for the exp pedal I would be great if the forum could help me establish a basic bass rig (that others could copy) which has the fundamentals in order.
  7. Hi I ask myself what would be better for me, a new Powercab or my good old stagesource l3t. I am using HELIX. Is there someone who has already compared? Profett
  8. Hi everyone, I once found a blog post that had these detailed overviews for each amp and effect on the Helix. Most importantly, the blog post went over what each setting did for each effects pedal. Unfortunately, I forgot to save the post and now I can't find it anymore. I would love to know the purpose of each setting e.g. flutter, ramp, FBtone, range, peak, etc., etc. Each effect has different settings and some of them are named the same thing but have different functions, like mode. Anyone have a compiled source of instructions for all of these pedals and amps?
  9. Can the looper be Midi controlled to start and stop recording? I've been writing some tunes that for live use I could really use a the looper on the helix but we play with a click and I've been working on midi clocking my preset for the set list and it got me thinking if I could set it up loops to match up with the click.
  10. I just purchased a helix like a week ago and I’m starting to get the hang of it. I’ve been watching tutorials and and reading forums. My question was, does it matter where in the signal path I place the amp or cabs? Does it make a difference? Everything I’ve read or watched, people just seem to place it somewhere in the middle. Or do you have to think of it like a real pedal board, where the amp comes last? Please help.
  11. Hi! So I'm about to buy an Helix Rack, that I'm gonna use live and at rehearsals with my "modern metal" band (Architects, BMTH, Deftones type of sound..). I'm looking for the best FRFR speaker I could get for this usage between 300€ to maximum 400€. I already looked for the Mackie Thump15, Headrush 112 and ALTO speakers, and heard good and bad things about these but struggle to find good feedbacks from users with a similar situation/need. What would you recommend? Any help would be appreciated! ps: also, what would be the most suited speaker diameter? 10, 12 or 15"?
  12. Hello, I'm new here. I was hoping to get some help with my Helix Native install and Helix Floor pedal. I just discovered HX Edit this afternoon and very much enjoyed how both the pedal and the software are synced. I was surprised and disappointed to find that this same configuration didn't port over to Helix Native on launch. I came from a Guitar Rig setup where the pedal could navigate and interact with the plugin. I didn't put much effort into that pedal, so I was kind of expecting the same results. Can anyone tell me how make Helix Native sync up like HX Edit does in FL Studio with my Helix Floor pedal? Thank you kindly for your help!
  13. so I recently got a hx stomp, tried it out, everything was working fine and it was dead silent, then I updated to the new firmware and all of a sudden got this buzz noise (its attachedto this post). it goes away after some time, but comes back. I also tried different power supplies and outlets , its always the same result, does anybody else have this problem, it seems like a software issue, since it was working fine before doing the update. hx stomp buzz.mp3
  14. I have a Helix LT and use it with a Variax and other non-variax guitars. Setting up the preset to select the model on the variax is easy enough. However, when I am using one of the non-variax guitars, I often have to experiment to remember which pickup and tone settings to use. It would be great if short text descriptions could be added to a preset telling which pickup, tone setting, coil tapping?, etc. The text interface on the Helix itself is so basic that is wouldn't make sense to add text to a preset there. But, if a short text description could be added via HX Edit, then accessed on the Helix, well, that would be very useful. "NOTES" could live just under "Looper" on the effects list for a quick reminder as to guitar settings.
  15. Hello friend! I'm about to buy a HX Stomp and I want to merge its capabilities with the Bluguitar Amp1. So, how do you get along with these 2 great products? I want to run the bluguitar amp 1 trough the FX Loop of the hx stomp, use it as the amp simulation, and then, put some effects in fn the front + some IR's from the Helix. But I have a problem with the channel switching. If i want to change the channel of the Amp 1 and turn on/ off some of the effects in Snapshot mode, how do I do that? Far as I know, the HX Stomp doesn't have amp switching capabilities like its bigger brothers LT/Rack/ Standard Helix. Otherwise, I would like to know how are you guys using them together! Maybe I'll run the Stomp in the loop chain of the Amp1. But for this kind of operation, it would get way too expensive because i'll have to buy an external Midi Switcher. In any case, I'll buy this month the HX stomp and maybe will convince me that I don't need to buy the Amp 1 for a good sound. For now, the youtube videos, did not conviced me with it's clean capabilities. Maybe some good IR's will made up my mind. Just as a fact. I'll use it in live situations with a Fender Stratocaster Custom Shop 60's reissue - Luna Stone True Overdrive and a vintage BOSS GE10 (for the moment, I'll run the eq in the loop FX of the Helix). Thank you for your atention

  17. Twice this week my Helix Rack and Control froze and wouldn't change presets. Once during a rehearsal, and last night during a performance. Only thing that fixed it was powering off and then on. Not sure if it was same preset that froze or not. But I do know that the rack and control both read different presets. Signal was still coming through so I was able to finish song, but why would it be freezing like that? I'm on latest firmware. I have 2 Helix Mission expression pedals plugged in to control. Any Ideas? I'm using all tones I've created and maybe 1 or 2 custom patches from other people, with IR's. I've read about the "rebuild all presets" feature but not sure what that does or if it would fix this particular bug. Thanks
  18. Hi all, Since a month I own the Helix Floor + Powercab 112 plus (and the Relay G10S). A great compact setup! I'm impressed by its versatility, all options and ease of use. Before I had a traditional setup: Custom Audio tube pre-amp, mesa 20/20 power amp, TC G-system, Mesa cabinet. Top class sound, but I was tyred of carrying it around... So I made the big switch to modeling. As said I am very impressed, however I am struggling to get my basic sounds right (for which I'm reaching out for help): clean, crunch, rock and high-gain. I know my traditional tube setup is quite a benchmark, but still hoping to get my sounds close to what I'm used to. I kind of miss that punchy/crispy sound, especially when I play with my (rock) band my sound has no clear definition (missing the 'balls'). I really want my setup to work and don't want to give up as I am convinced about the benefits of the Helix. So I was thinking: - to keep tweaking till it's right (it must be me) - try a tube combo amp instead of the powercab - lower my expectations - get help through this forum :-) I go for the last option as I know there are so many happy and experienced Helix users out there. So, here is my question: did any of you go through the same process with satisfying results in the end? Any tips how to get that great basic authentic sound right (which I appreciate is a vague question)? See my current setup/ settings below. Thanks a lot for sharing any experience/advice! Much appreciated! Main guitar: Fender Strat with single pick ups Powercab: Vintage ( sounds most pleasing to me for the few amps I use from clean to high gain) Clean: Solo Lead Clean (amp only, no cab from Helix) Crunch: clean channel above + Screamer Overdrive: Mandarín 80 (amp only, no cab from Helix) Lead: Placater Dirty (amp only, no cab from Helix) On top of above amps (on which I made minor tweaks to most pleasing sound), I experimented by adding EQs, compressors and effects.
  19. Hi! Would anyone know if it is possibe to control the PowerCab 112 plus speaker models from the Helix Floor via L6 Link? I'd like to assign a powercab speaker model from a Helix preset (with L6 link, not interested in midi cables as I want to have a clean setup) so each preset can have the best sounding speaker model from the cab. I saw some discussions on this topic, but no clear conclusion on it as far as I could find. Thanks for any help! :-) Jordi
  20. I actually bought a Helix Floor unit and am worried it's massive overkill for my abilities, experience, etc. I've played mostly acoustic guitar and bought a few electrics and now feel like I've fallen down the rabbit hole. I wouldn't really know how to create tones, but like the idea of being able to purchase/download patches. I'm a bedroom player, so no gigging application or band application so do I really need a Floor Unit? Should I have just purchased the Helix Native Plug-In for $400 vs. the Floor for $1400. If I buy the Native Plug in and return the Floor unit I'll still need to purchase a FocusRite Scarlett (or something like that), plus I'll need a copy of Pro Tools to basically run the thing, right? Seems like I'm swimming out of my depth, but would appreciate any advice as I'm pretty new to all this amp sim stuff. Thinking I might just need to swim in shallow waters like Amplitube, Guitar Rig, or Tone Bridge.... but I do really want the high level tonal capabilities of Helix and have hired a guy for lessons who may be able to help me fine tune it.
  21. For those who are interested, here is my short cover of my favorite gojira song I used a soldano simulation with a mesa IR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26A-ScQgt3M
  22. In the Lenny Kravitz song Are you gonna go my Way. I am trying to duplicate the part where there is a second guitar playing the higher octave. I have tried a few things but no luck any suggestions duplicating that on the Helix?
  23. I'm using a Line 6 Relay G90 wireless, Helix Rack, Gibson Les Paul Axcess, through the band's front of house PA system, plus monitors. The wireless system is currently plugged into the Helix return 1 to save putting a lead round to the from back of the flight case to the front where the Helix guitar input is located. Due to some very cutting/harsh treble sounds, I'm now using the cable length setting at about 80-90ft on the wireless. I also note that I get a much better guitar sound not using the wireless system (using a standard cable) and using the guitar input on the front of the Helix. Am I missing something obvious to get the Relay G90 working better with the Helix rack system? Now I know there are plenty ways I can vary the Helix set-up, but I'm more interested in getting my source sound sorted, otherwise no amount of Helix tweaking will improve the overall sound. Are there any tricks, tips, hints, etc for G90/Helix use. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Peter.
  24. Is there a midi tamp tempo that anyone would recommend for the line 6 HX stomp?
  25. I absolutely love the L6 Helix. It is amazing. I have no regrets about this system at all. However, here is something I reeeeally wish I could do, but I am not sure the Helix can do it. I would pay good money to have it as an option. In the global settings you have to choose whether your device runs all presets, presets/snapshots, snapshots/stomp, all stomp, all snapshots, etc etc etc. However. I wish I could set in the Global settings a combination of as many as I want. For example. I love having lots of snapshots available, but I also like the option of having a boost available when I want it. What if I could have 7 snapshots and 1 stomp which could be a Kinky Boost? That would be amazing! It would also be killer if I could make that choice global, but also have it preset specific. i wish I could have presets that could have any combination of stomps and snapshots. How difficult would this be to add in a future update? It would blow my mind and make this a flawless device (PLUS ADD MORE DSP!). Regardless, I obviously can make-do, but damn. That would be awesome.
