Hi, I was looking for good pedals and came over the helix multi effect board and I have to say, I am in love with it!! I don't have it yet, but I am in the process to get it. But I have one major question. In my band I am the MD (Music Director) which means I use talkback to talk to my fellow musicians when we perform. I would really like to have a mic mute pedal to mute the microphone when I'm not talking, and that I can just press it when I feel to talk. So therefore mye question is: Does the Helix multieffect board have a feature like this? or do I need an external pedal to do this? It would be TOP NOTCH if the Helix had it ;)

Hello guys... I am trying to setup my "rig" but can't make it to work properly. I'm not trying to control 'n' parameters or anything, I just want to change snapshots in a preset. I set a preset in my HxFx and configured 6 switches to be my 6 snapshots. I set them to send CC#69 with values from 0 to 7. When I hit any buttom, if I am listening in Reaper, it shows Micdi channel 1, CC 69. But no values.... Obviously, the snapshots are not being changed in Helix Native. I feel something is missing in Reaper configuration to make ir work properly. Can someone give me some help? Thanks a lot!!! -
Guys, hi! Can someone give me some tips on how to control snapshots in Helix Native? I am using my HX Effects and a Maudio Midisport Uno usb cable. In the Hx Effects I can set whatever I want, but I am facing problems to get the right CC and values for snapshot change in Helix Nativa...I am using Reaper. Can someone give some tips on how to set that? I just want to be able to change snapshots, just that. thanks a lot!

What I'm essentially trying to do is run a path into my recto with a 4 cable method using the 1/4" outputs, and run a separate path through a model using the XLR outputs. But every time I set the output of the model path to the XLR the signal for the 1/4" outputs just cuts out. I'm not running out of DSP. Has anyone tried this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I have just purchased a Helix and have been having great fun working with snapshots, in particular changing parameters and bypassing blocks so that I can switch between rhythm and lead tones. One thing that I would like to do is be able to switch the input from 'Guitar' to 'Aux' by means of a snapshot as this would enable me to switch from the mag pickups on my guitar to the piezo. Is this possible? Thanks Lewis

I get clipping even at low volumes using the headphones out. I am using Sennheiser HD650 headphones (I also tried Sony MDR-V6 headphones), and even with a relatively clean tone I still get clipping. When I record via USB with the Helix, the level is quite low (never going above -6db) often wavering around -10db or -15db, so I don't think the level of my patch is too high. Help? Issue solved.

Hi Everyone, I do a lot of recordings, guitar and backing tracks. I've always done so with an external multitrack recorder. It would be a lot more convenient if I could record on my laptop connecting my helix via USB. I have tried this many different ways and gotten mainly frustration. I wish Line 6 offered their own PC multitrack recorder that was certain to work well with their products. What I wish would work, is like this, I plug my helix into my PC by USB, and plug my headphones into my PC (not my Helix) and pull my backing track into my recording software, play along and record. I have not been able to make this work. The only thing that I got working was plugging my headphones into my helix, playing along with my backing tracks, which sounds good, but the recordings sound crap due to latency. Can anybody advise me, is what I want possible?

I updated my Helix LT yesterday to 2.6, and after that it's been really noisy. I tried different stock presets and it's the same thing. You can hear in the clip that it only stops momentarily when I play really loud. But other than that it's constantly there, and impossible to live with. I'm sure it's not my guitar, because everything was fine just before updating, and I tried another guitar with no change. I plugged my HD500x into the same outlet and it was completely quiet, which makes me think this is a HELIX issue. It's on all the outputs (headphones, 1/4", USB). Anyone know what is causing this? Hi guys; Last night the joystick on my Helix stop working. Still works as twisting knob but not as "push botton". I can´t select anything on the screen. Does anybody has this issue before..? I have performed an update and a reboot after the problem appears without succes.

Hello! So I've been using the line 6 helix rack + control for about 2 years now. And I just had this spark of an idea that maybe is retarded but I taught I'd still share the idea I had. ^.^ So I know analog guitar pedal, amps, power amps, etc. will sounds a tiny little bit different every time you use them. Depending on the components used in the pedal, the temperature, the humidity and so on. Even tho this is only a very slight change I think it'd be cool to have an option on the helix to emulate that effect. I think this should be a global option that effects everything in the chain. I think it could be programmed in the way of having the user define inputs change a little bit depending on a pseudo random number every time the helix boots and the options has been set active. Or maybe even with the tube amps depending on how long the amp has been active the "tubes" will warm up thus changing the sound in the slightest. Sorry again if this is a stupid idea, but I taught I'd share it ^.^ - Bryan Honof

I'm new to both of these units and haven't developed a perspective on this yet. So far, I've set up some Helix patches with no cab and no IR and use the Greenback speaker setting on the Powercab. Sounds good, but maybe it's not so versatile. The other obvious option would be to just set the Powercab to the Flat Response setting and use Speaker/IR settings on the Helix that I can customize for each patch without having to touch the Powercab. Or, are there other options that I'm not seeing? Are these the 2 basic options? What are the pros / cons of each? What do you find that works best? -
I am trying to update my JTV 89 F using my Helix as the interface through line 6 monkey. I have both the line 6 cable and the quarter inch jack connected to the guitar. Every time I try to update the firmware from 2.21 to 2.23 I am getting the following 2 errors (screenshot attached). Can anyone help on how I can get over this issue? ryi -
Hey all, Recently, I was noticing some odd behavior with my HX footswitches during live use. If I went to engage an effect by stomping on the footswitch, it would turn on, but after maybe 1-2 seconds, it would bring up the screen that allows you to edit parameters of that selected effect, and I would have to press the MODE/EXIT button to return to the stompbox layout. This would happen intermittently, but eventually, I got fed up and checked to see if I was behind a firmware update, and I was. Without issue, I upgraded both the HX Edit software AND the HX firmware to the latest version. I did not see my specific issue listed on the bug fixes, but I was still hopeful it would resolve my issue. At first, it seemed like the update did the trick, but after a little more fiddling with my setup, a new problem arose, but still quite similar to what was happening before. This time, though, instead of bringing up the screen to edit effect parameters, it acts as if I am soft-touching two effects to engage the "swap footswitches" feature. See the video below, demonstrating the issue. As you can see, I'm not using the soft-touch feature at all - simply turning effects on and off in "stompbox" mode with a normal pressure used in a live setting. My brother also has an HX and I showed him the problem, and we could not replicate the problem with his unit in the same signal chain, same room, same power, etc. Do I have a faulty unit? In the meantime, or regardless, is there some way to disable the soft-touch feature on the HX? Honestly, after using the unit for the past 2-3 months, I have never really used the soft-touch features. Thanks for any advice or support, folks.

Hi all, help please!!!! I want to setup helix on a pedalboard for easy of use obviously with the added expression pedals now setup and the extra pedals coming in from the effects loops. I had planned on getting 1 of the larger pedaltrains but im now worring about the issue of helix obviously being angled as per any other multi effects pedal chassis layout but the pedaltrain will be on an angle as well, so is there any other good options or has anyone already set this up on a pedaltrain and found that its not an issue??? Thanks

just got helix lt today going direct into mackie mixer into mackie hr824's . initial impressions are very good.the scribble strips are not missed at all. modeling is very good. I thought the definite improvement over past modeling are the distorted amps.clean amps were just ok ( a bit thin[lack of bass],but going direct with global eq at default). effects are decent,but seemed to lack something, in particular,the delays in some way. presets are mostly weak. now, here is my dilemma. I use 2 hybrid tube/solid state amps and a delay pedal and a line6 m5 (used sparingly) and just love the sound. I found I liked the sound much more than helix lt?! what is wrong with me?! this just cant be. but here is the thing, the amps just have this sound I love. I am sure with some editing I can come close with helix maybe. only advantage I can hear is that I can go direct with helix for recording where as with my amps I have to mic them and hear chair creaks coughs etc...but the sound of my amps/effects just are perfect to my ears and blow away the helix for that type of sound. now hi gain /distortion- no doubt the helix is very good. but I don't use distortion as often as I used to, in fact, I still find the pod xt live plenty for me and I don't dislike the sounds I get at all.the distortions in line 6 m5 are just ok ,but pod xt live is much better and helix is better than both.. I love the pod xt live as its just fun to play into 2 solid state amps though i need to add a bit of reverb/delay. globally with outboard effects. just trying to justify $1000 and just not sure I can;helix lt is a great unit,but for me it may not be the answer. perhaps a pod hd500x would be better for me as I do dislike the pod xt live not syncing time based effects to midi clock (I think the 500x does this).I tried the 500x and didn't like it much at the time,but might be enough for me).I just think the helix is overkill.I do like that steve vai hi gain patch though.... conclusion thus far, I am thrilled with my clean amps,delay pedal and m5 setup and even my pod xt live. I found the helix excellent but cant justify 1k for my needs. Well,will try helix into my solid state amps and see if that works better for me

Hello! So I am playing a show in a few weeks, and I am currently running my helix to a powered speaker for monitoring (with a flat EQ of course). I am thinking about trying to send a signal with the same tone/eq/etc to FOH just so they can crank it in their monitors more. Am I overthinking this, or can I simply run a 1/4" cable to my speaker via 1/4" OUT L output, and run another 1/4" to XLR to the FOH via the 1/4" OUT R output? I am trying it with my interface, and the exact same tone is coming through both outputs (which is what I am looking for). Thanks!

Does anyone have any information concerning using and/or assigning USB audio I/O channels 3, 4, 5, and 6 in the Helix? I am trying to configure a wet/dry/wet DAW recording path using USB 1/2 as the stereo wet output and one of the above USB audio channels as the "dry" output. I want the dry output to contain everything from the guitar through the amp, therefor; I do not want to use USB audio channel 7 or 8, as they contain only the raw guitar audio. Sending wet/dry/wet out through the connectors is no problem. I would just plug into my mixer, but unfortunately, it has only 2-in/2-out USB audio. I see all of the Helix USB audio channels in my DAW, but cannot figure out how to, for example, assign a Helix effects loop out to a USB audio channel. Are there any other alternatives? I have attached an MS Word file of everything I have been able to find on the USB audio and MIDI I/O concerning the Helix, if it should help anyone. Woo! Nice to be joining this club. :^) A little background. I have been playing for 30+ years, and used to be a tube snob. Have owned a lot of vintage and modern tube amps (they are great!). I spent 8 years as a professional musician (teaching and gigging). Although that was a ton of fun, it was not the right career choice for me. I am a Software Engineer now, but still play a decent amount of paid gigs. When I started gigging again after 'retiring' I ended up getting into solid state amps. I still have some and love them. But the Helix (and the Ampli-Firebox) are my first serious foray into digital. I think the technology is finally 'there', at least for my needs. I spent months demoing and researching all of the top floor board units. I did not dig the tone of the Headrush. The GT-1000 sounded great but had an awkward interface. I was VERY close to getting the AX8, but I hate using a computer while being creative, so I really wanted an inspiring interface on the device. From what I have read and heard, the AX8 and Helix BOTH sound incredible. So here I am! Initial impressions of the Helix (using it with quality headphones): - The interface is brilliant. There are tons of little touches letting you know this product spent a lot of time in user testing. It is incredible that such a complex device can be so fun to use! - The tone is inspiring. I was getting lost in just playing clean tones. I have never had a headphone-only session where that happened. Usually headphones (in my experience) are too bright and brittle. The Helix has plenty of options to dial in a warm tone. - The looper length is too short. I knew this going in and it was swaying me toward the AX8, but the Helix won on too many other counts. I play a lot of solo gigs and looping is an important part of that. I may need to still bring my trusty RC-1. - Is there a way to move a block from Path 1 to Path 2? I tried copy and paste as well as just moving the block, but nothing seemed to work. I ended up just deleting the block and recreating it on the other path. - I sure hope the updater or HX Edit work on Linux through Wine. I know AX8-Edit works perfectly through Wine, so I am hoping for the same here, if worse comes to worse I will have to figure something out for firmware updates. - The hardware is incredibly sleek and sexy. Plus it just feels very solid. I baby my stuff, but this thing looks like it could take a beating. Any other tips besides the things I asked about?

Hi All, I am looking for free DAW software and i found Cakewalk from Bandlab and would like to share this tip with you. So far, i think it's the best DAW software available for free. It looks very nice and does an amazing good job ! At home i am using it to record tracks directly from my Helix LT over USB. And it works like a charm. As i am fond of sharing tips and tricks, i wrote a small tutorial for installing and first use of Cakewalk to record directly from the Line 6 Helix (LT) You can find the tutorial here ! So I'm trying to record vocal covers with my helix as the audio interface. I'm running my mic into one signal path and then the track through the othe signal path and both are going through the multi output setting. I'm using the headphones out to monitor so it has to both be centered because I tried just panning one left and one right and it just threw me off. Is there any way to split the track and the vocals into two different tracks in studio one and still be centered?

I made a good faith effort to look for this on the site before starting this topic. If I missed it, I apologize. I'm trying to do something pretty simple: take video with ihpone, with the audio coming from Helix via the USB port, connected through an iphone camera connector adaptor. I thought I had this working a couple weeks ago. But now, there's no audio coming through when I try to record video. I was wondering if maybe there's a hidden volume function or virtual port that got turned off in the iphone.... Thanks for any suggestions! -

Hello, I was wondering if there are any amps that you could compare the powercab to? Just to have something to compare it with. Does somebody know some sorth of similar amp that is usable with amp modeling system and especially the helix? Beside regular PA speakers. Thanks!
