So i have a 2010 mac pro just updated to High Sierra and logic 10.4.1. Getting a plugin not initialized error. Downloaded 1.5, which doesn't crash my whole program like 1.1 did, i can at least get into the settings. I signed in and out, deauth and auth'ed the computer again, the auth goes through fine, and i get a PLUGIN NOT INITIALIZED error up top. ANyone else.

So I got a brand new Helix a few weeks ago. There was a thin protective clear plastic on the big LCD. Clearly the intent was to remove it. My question... is there a similar plastic on the stomp button LED labels? It looks like there might be, the covering looks a little hazy. But I can't find any sort of edge or anything to grasp and peel at. Is there nothing there, or is it just really difficult to peel off? (please don't mess with me - I won't want to try crazy peeling methods if there's nothing there to remove)

Hey guys, Not sure if anyone has experienced this , but every time I have the Helix LT plugged into my computer (USB is plugged in order to use the HX editor, but device is actually running into my Daw through my saffire sound card) the Helix screen freezes and I have to restart it. It is rather annoying and it has meant that I have been unable to use the Helix to record (or just about anything) so any help would be appreciated. Cheers

I am having a frustrating time with my Helix. I have a set of Rokit KRK headphones and my patches sound great through these headphones - lots of clarity/detail in the amp modelling etc. When I hook up my studio monitors - Rokit 6 KRK's - the resulting sound has far more less clarity/and sounds a bit dull to my ears. Anyone else had similar problems, I have looked on the forum and most people have the opposite problem ie Helix sounds great through monitors but bad through headphones. Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, Until now I used my helix through the FX return from a Lab L9 (solid state). Sounds great and works fine. However, if I connect the helix with my JCM900 in the same fashion, it does not make any sound, regardless how much I crank up the volume. Also, if I connect my guitar to the FX return of the JCM directly, there is no sound at all. If I connect the guitar to the regular input channels A or B, all works fine, so amp itself is ok. But when I connect the helix to either channel I need to crank up the volume considerably before it becomes audible and then also sounds mudded. Questions: - I would prefer using the FX return from the JCM as i do with the Lab L9. Is that doable? If so, how do I need to do that (if that is different than with the Lab L9)? - Do I need to increase the output signal from the helix? If so, how do I need to do that? - Do I need to increase sensitivity of the FX return? If so, how do I need to do that? - Or is it likely that the FX return from the JCM900 is broken, since I do not seem to get any sound from it even when directly connecting my guitar? NB I prefer not to use a 4cm method as I do not intend to use the pre-amps from the JCM. Thanks for your suggestions. Eric

Okay, I can't seem to find an answer to this online. All of a sudden, my global settings aren’t saving. I had it set to snap/stomp mode, and 10 switches, but whenever I power it on now, it goes to preset mode and doesn't save the mode I previously set it to. Also, my Helix used to power up on the same preset it was on when powered down, now it just goes to 1A Factory Preset. The only thing I changed was, I was messing with the midi settings the other night, trying to get a midi foot controller I have, to talk to and control the Helix, so I may have changed a midi channel or preference, but that's it.

I'm new to both of these units. I've set up some patches on the Helix with no speaker or IR; using the Greenback setting on the Powercab. Sounds good, but... What about using the Flat Response on the Powercab 112 with selected speakers / IRs on the Helix? Preferences, Pros and Cons...? NOTE: I'm referring to the Powercab - not the Powercab Plus

Hello, I have recently bought an Helix LT with firmware version 2.21.0. I have changed in settings the "footswitches" to be "Snap/Stomp" so I can take advantage of snapshots. This has worked just fine for a couple of days but today whenever I change snapshots the system completely freezes. For example, I set snapshot 1 to have low gain on my amp, then I move on to snap2 to set higher gain on the amp and I can do it (no issue up to now). Then I want to get back to snap1 but the footswitch is not working anymore. I try other buttons (any at all) and noone of them work. That´s when I realize the system is frozen. Then I have to reset the machine by turning it off and back on. Did this already 6 times today. Please let me have your feedback before I contact your repair services.. Thank you.

Imagine if Line6 made an iPad/iPhone looper app along the lines of GroupTheLoop or Quantiloop (but better) that had the added USP of being able to communicate two-way with the HELIX - so that by going into a special "Looper App Mode" the HELIX scribble strips behaved like an improved version of the built-in looper- but in a way where the labels would synchronise ( using OSC etc ? ) with the iOS app. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/902705

Hey y'all, sorry if this is a repost, I've searched for this info a bunch of times. Here's what I want to do: Using Helix Floor (2.5.0 - can update it if this will fix it) Use one of the vibe effects (Vibe Rotary in my case) No Wah or Volume effects on this patch Use the expression pedal to control the Slow Speed & Fast Speed params Use the expression pedal toe switch to change the Speed param between Slow and Fast mode For the life of me I can't figure out exactly how to do this. I've gotten as far as getting EXP1 and EXP2 to control the Slow Speed & Fast Speed, but I can't get the toe switch to change the actual Speed param from Slow to Fast. I tried using MIDI CC Toggle in the Command Center as well but I am not sure I was doing it correctly. Is this possible?

Hello guys, I would like to buy Helix. but I have a question: I have a guitar and trumpet, if I put trumpet inside a auxin channel, is possible to apply all effect and presets? or these are only for guitar input? there are a switch guitar/aux? or they are both active? thanks

When applying a flash memory update like the latest, 2.54, is it still necessary to reboot with the switches 9 & 10 held down to reset the globals and restore factory presets or is that only for updates that provide new models/presets?

Can the AUX in be routed as a pass through?

I'm posting this not to slam Line 6. But to give them some honest feedback. I bought the Helix recently because of all positive word of mouth about it on the web. I really liked the UI design. But I just could not get the kind of sound I wanted from it. No matter what I did. The sound was always a little bit muddy. And it sounded like I was playing behind the band. I wrote several custom patches, and I tried every option it had (EQ, compression, etc.) But it just didn't have the "presence" I wanted. It always felt "Back of the Band". It lacked a cutting edge to my ears. I have been using a Digitech GNX4 pedal for about 10 years. And while most of it is total garbage. I do have one custom Joe Satriani sounding style patch that makes the thing sound pretty darn good. Although a little bit thin sounding. I spent $400.00 for this pedal roughly 10 years ago. And I'm basically only getting one good usable sound from it. I was hoping the Helix would give me a catalog of other sounds to use. Plus a better "Satch" sound than my GNX4 pedal. But I just did not like the bottom heavy and muddy sounds from the Helix. On my GNX4. I can switch quickly and easily between wah & pitch shifter with the toe switch using the on board rocker pedal. And I use that all of the time. On the Helix. You can't do that. You have to play this little game of disable the wah and enable the pitch shifter thing. That was very disappointing to me. With my GNX4. If I lower the volume knob on my guitar to about half. As I pick the strings. The notes start off muted and then slowly ramp up. As If I'm rolling the volume knob up by hand. Eddie Van Halen uses this volume knob rolling technique very heavily in his solos. This happens because the GNX is cheaper. But I have grown to really love this behavior. It makes soft songs sound so beautiful. And I use it constantly. And this behavior is gone on the Helix. Because the Helix is more accurate. I would severely miss this behavior if it was taken away from me. Maybe this "auto volume roll up" can be built in as an effect? In summation: -The Helix has a thicker, muddier, sound than what I wanted. It's not really bad. But it lacked a cutting edge to my ears. -My old GNX4 has a thinner, cheaper, sound than what I want. But I love the way the pedal works (even if it's inaccurate). -The Helix removes some of the GNX4 behaviors that I love and use all of the time. -The selection of amps was a bit limited compared to other pedals If the Helix cost around $600.00. I probably would not have returned it. I would have kept it and tried to mix it with my GNX4 pedal to try and get that middle sound that I'm looking for. But at a price tag of $1500.00. It made no sense to keep it. Please take these things as constructive feedback. And not criticisms. The unit just wasn't quite what I wanted or hoped it would be. I wasn't turned off by it. But I wasn't $1500.00 worth of turned on by it either. ;-) But it wasn't too far from the target. I actually thought about keeping it for a while. I can't wait to try out the next version. -ScottA

Does anyone know if it's possible or have experience using the Line 6 Helix to trigger samples on the MPC Live via MIDI? I'm wondering if I can have a sample loaded on different pads on the MPC Live and use different foot switches to trigger each sample? Also wondering if it's possible to have a footswitch stop the MPC Live from playing?

I recently purchased the Helix and I was trying to use the XLR in a PA. However when I plugged in there was latency, very noticeable latency. I could almost hear my initial pluck of the string, but very, very faint and then the actual sound comes in late. I would expect this from the USB PC connection, but very strange with the XLR to a PA. I have no latency issues through the 1/4" or USB connection I looked all over the setting, manual, forums, youtube and could not find anything on this. HELP...

Hey Guys. I made a video breaking down the mix of the recent Pantera “Dimebag” Tone ibises in a previous video.

I am using the Helix to control a bank of external pedals using the VooDoo Hex. I control the VooDoo Hex loops using CC messages. Of course, I can use the command center to do this, but manually assigning multiple channel / CC messages to control each loop for each snapshot (or foot controller) is tedious. I doubt live programming the Helix directly using an external app (midi or FBV) is easy (please tell me if I am wrong). Is there documentation on the .hlx JSON format? I could write an GUI editor to facilitate editing the .hlx files then upload to Helix with the Line 6 editor. I can try and use samples to reverse engineer, but it would be better to get official docs. thanks, mark

Now that we have a filter/vocoder type of effect I have been trying to recreate an effect that I have on my digitech pedals but I am having some difficulty. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get a similar sound from Helix? Would great to just use the one pedal. Thanks!

I recently just purchased a used Line 6 pod x3 live. I am very happy with this pedal but I'm curious about this Helix native effects software. I am wondering why after I downloaded the software and installed it on my laptop, why can I not find the icon anywhere to open up the program? In my file explorer I have the Helix Native installer but when I click the finish installing option I was assuming the program would open like most software does...but I see no icon for the program.....it's very strange....if anyone can help me figure out this issue please do so....I would appreciate it immensely! hi guys, I used to be a hd 500 user for a long time and recently have moved to helix. The gear that i currently run is JTV 89F -> Helix LT -> DT-25. I am struggling with a few things now with my set up: Firstly the DT25 integration with Helix tech is not that good as it was with HD 500. Is that true or is it just me? For instance you cant seem to switch between the 4 channels of the amp. The sound thats coming out of the amplifier seems to be very hard to dial in as well, as I have to adjust the knobs on the amp it self not the helix unit. What amp model/set up should I use to get a good acoustic sound out of my variax? As soon as I put an amp in the signal chain for an acoustic model it makes it sound very different. I want an amplified sound of the acoustic model without much color on it. Currently I am just using one or compressors which is also not that great of sound when it comes to the variax acoustic models. This set up coming out of my dt25 sound horrible for the acoustic models. A guy at a guitar shop suggested I should look at PAs or Roland Jc 40/120 amps. As they will give the best flat response with the helix doing the modeling and the PA/Amp doing just the basic amplification of the sound. The main reason for getting a dt25 was the compact size and the fact that it was a tube amp that can be used with a drummer in a live setting for a jam. My previous experience with PAs has not been that good as they are very big in size and dont hold that well in front of a drummer. The JC amps, I have no idea of. Any other amps or PAs that anyone would recommend? I dont want to go with line 6 PAs as they have alot of functionality on them that I will never use. Let me know if anyone is having similar issues and what did you do for it.

These speakers are often recommended on the Helix threads as the best speakers to use with the Helix. I live in Nashville and have no shortage of top notch music stores. NONE carry these speakers. I travel for a living in southern/mid-south states, so I searched Line 6's page for dealers all across the south. Guitar Center is obviously their main dealer, but there are a handful of others. There isn't a single Guitar Center or any other music store in the entire Southern US that has any of these units. Are they on their way out or are they just not popular enough for stores to carry inventory? I will not make an investment this big without being able to hear the speakers first. This will force me to get another brand's loud speakers since Line 6 can't be put to the test and compared to their competitors. I suppose with internet shopping closing more and more brick and mortar stores every day this is our future, but it sure is frustrating that a company like Line 6 can't keep inventory in stores of what one would assume is one of their best products.
