  1. To cut a long, frustrating story short: I got to the bottom of this issue of the Helix "not being connected". I tried a mixture of my PC and several laptops. But on my PC I kept getting either no connection or a brief connection that dropped out. After much lost time, I suddenly recalled the instructions about not using a USB hub. On my PC there were USB connectors on the front of it and several on the back of the PC on the main card. As soon as I plugged into any USB connector on the back, everything worked perfectly, every time. So I reckon the USB connectors on the front of the PC were essentially configured as an extension USB "hub". I just wanted to post this, so that if it saves anyone the frustration and wasted time that I went though (eliminating operating systems and all sorts of other stuff) then great.
  2. Hey guys, Today I have a video walking through the tone I used in my previous video. I used the PV Panama amp model which is modeled after the Peavey 5150. I stayed inside of the Helix this time using the 4 X 12 Uber T75 Cabinet model using a “Dual” Cab block blending two different mics and placement on the same cab.
  3. Is it possible if I could connect a Line 6 rack foot controller to a Line 6 Helix floor unit? To expand - Could I use a Line 6 floor unit as a main guitar unit, then also plug in a bass into the second instrument input, then use a Line 6 rack foot controller to control the bass effects on the Helix floor unit via cat5 into a midi converter into the midi on the floor unit to change effects n patches? So basically two people can play the Helix at once, the bassist and guitarist via one brain. If so I'ma buy this asap lmao
  4. Hi all, I've connected the Helix (v2.5) via USB to my computer (Windows10), hoping to hear the sounds from Cubase 9.5 through my FRFR which is connected to my Helix via the XLR Output. When I play the guitar, the sound can be heard through the FRFR but when I play the music from Cubase, I hear weird sounds (kind of slowed down version of the music with saturation). My settings in Cubase: Studio Setup... --> ASIO Helix Audio connections... --> Outputs=Stereo Out (Output1 for Left and Output2 for Right) Is there a setting I'm missing? Thanks. regards. Ju.
  5. My 10 year old POD XT LIVE died ... I played a gig with it one day and it was dead the next. Here is a video I made when I discovered what was wrong with it.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SN1Kr1XS6k
  6. Hello all Just a quick question regarding using Helix to control DMX lights with midi. Firstly is it possible in general, and secondly is it possible that every time I select a Snapshot a midi message could be sent that would select a specific lighting pattern or combination? I don't really want to control the lights via the footswitches in Stomp mode (although that could work). It would be better to map the changes to switches that I already press i.e. the Snapshot changes. Any help or advice gratefully received.
  7. Greetings, I saw a feature on the Seymour Duncan Andromeda delay I really like, as I pick more gently for clean parts I can set the delay to get louder. When I strum hard the delay pulls back in level. Pretty awesome. There's got to be a way to do this with the Helix. I'm googling around for it. Anyone have links, I'd appreciate it. Be well, Paul
  8. Hey guys, Today I have a “Dimebag” Darrel / Pantera inspired guitar tone. I threw together some fun Pantera riffs to demo the tone. It’s more of a hybrid of Dime’s tone as it evolved through Reinventing the Steel. This was a lot of fun. I used Ownhammer impulses on this one. Their stuff is the best. I used a blend of: OH 412 ENG V30 421-FRED OH 412 ENG V30 421-EDGE FRED for cutting through and the EDGE for the chunk and low end. I used the LINE 6 Fatality model. CHAIN: PRS Tremonti SE loaded with Fishman Fluence Moderns Line 6 Helix Rack using the Line 6 Fatality amp model and Ownhammer Impulses Into the Universal Audio Apollo Twin which feeds Persons Studio One 3 Drums are Toontrack Superior Drummer 3
  9. Hello! I recently bought a Line 6 Helix, and am absolutely in love with it. There is way more that I want to do with it, including getting myself more pedals to go with it outside of it's preset tones and effects. I also have a Spider Valve MKII That I've used in the past (and love it almost as much as the Helix) and was wondering If it would be okay to use the effects return part of the amp to use as a practice speaker since I do not have the finances to go and just buy a speaker at the moment. I know that it isn't ideal since the Helix works best with an FRFR Speaker cab. It's got the Celestion Vintage 30s in it. Anyone think that it would color the sound too much from what it would sound like in a FOH situation? I play for a church and my tones are pretty much perfect for what I want there. I haven't tried this yet since I'm typing this up on my lunch break at work. Anyways thanks all who reply to this!
  10. K, question, I cant get my hands on a dd4 but there is a specific way the audio in the looper degrades as more overdubs are applied. There is again loss and then there is also the general spectral fidelity which collapses before the signal just vanishes into a haze. Does anyone have a helix and dd4 that can replicate it with the helix looper, using the Overdub setting and the Hi/Low cut? Thanks!
  11. Hi all Cool the PowerCabs 112 & 112 plus!! Would it be nice if the Cabs had the option to disable the Power amp and use the cab with IR's or speaker simulation in combination with a Tube Amp ? More or less the principal of a universal audio OX with speaker! It is Just an idea and so far I haven't seen this type of cab on the market, it gives the ability to use your cab/ speaker in every kind of situation. Let me know what you think about the idea!?
  12. I'm using the helix lt to control Loop Community's "prime" application on an Ipad. I'm using the MIDI ports on the helix to do this. I'm wanting to add more stomp buttons to help me have more control. Is it possible to use something like this (https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FSB106Ad1--bugera-fsb106a-6-button-footswitch-for-bugera-trirec) to connect with a TRS cable to the helix's EXP Pedal 2? I'm wanting to still be able to use the helix to control parameters in prime, but I'm also wanting more stomp options. So my first though was just to extend the helix with another pedal. Any thoughts or advice?
  13. I recently acquired a stagescape mixer to use in combination with my L2T speakers and Helix. My question is; is there any point in connecting the helix in the chain via L6 link? I run the chain as follows - M20D to L2T to other L2T. But I connect my helix to the mixer via line input section. Should I be adding in the helix at them via L6 link....will it even serve a purpose? Before I had the mixer the chain was helix to L2T to L2T. Just not sure if there is a benefit to keeping the helix in the L6 chain, or if it would even work that way. Does anyone have any input? Thanks!
  14. I have followed the directions in the Helix manual as well as searched the forum and googled, but I cannot get music playing via YouTube or other player on my computer to play through the Helix. The manual says I can play along with YouTube or other player, but I cannot get it to work. I have USB hooked up and can see that there is audio playing via the Helix speaker in Windows (10) audio control panel, but I cannot hear it through my speakers that are connected via XLR output from the Helix. Both the input and output of the Helix are set to Multi, per instructions. Anyone know of a solution?
  15. Hi, I tried to connect my helix via xlr direct into the m20d (also tried into L3t and from L3t out into the m20d). There was quite a bit of clipping going on even though the meter was not showing any clipping. I wanted to to trim (using the auto trim option in m20d) but the mixer could not adjust saying "signal too hot". It is a bit weird since I did not have the impression I played very loud. In the helix I did just update to firmware 2.2 and all global settings are on "default". The xlr out is set to line level. The big volume know was set to the middle position. Very strange. Anybody has experience with that? Tks Markus
  16. Hey guys Today we have a play through of one of my tracks, Heavy as Heavy. I recorded the track with all new guitar tones using the Line 6 Helix Rack. I used the PV Panama amp model which is modeled after the Peavey 5150. I stayed inside of the Helix this time using the 4 X 12 Uber T75 Cabinet model using a “Dual” Cab block blending two different mics and placement on the same cab. CHAIN: PRS Tremonti SE loaded with Fishman Fluence Moderns Line 6 Helix Rack using the PV Panama amp model and 4 x 12 Uber T75 cabinet model Into the Universal Audio Apollo Twin which feeds Persons Studio One 3 Drums are courtesy of Toontrack Superior Drummer 3
  17. Hello All My questions are around 'how do you use stereo paths, effects and routing? Q) Do you use 'stereo' distortion in front of an AMP? If I use a dual path with two amps and a stereo Distortion in front of the two amps and I pan A/B is this really creating a stereo path? Q) Do you use a split path with effect in parallel or series? Q) Have you noticed that the smart harmony block, in stereo if its in front of a dual path does NOT split the harmony out to discrete stereo? Q) Do you notice anything interesting about stereo block effects before amp paths?
  18. Speaking ofL6-Link between HELIX & PowerCab Plus: Will it - now/in future - allow similar control between HELIX>PowerCab as MIDI? There doesnt seem to be much information on just how tight the comms and control between HELIX and PowerCab Plus can be using L6 Link. Is this something that is planned to be improved in the future (to Mr Digital Igloo or L6 product managers ) ?
  19. Suggestion 1: A view which displays ALL Stomps + Snapshots As it is, it's much easier to edit on the unit itself. There are things that an app can do much better than a real hardware unit and vice a versa. Currently HELIX Editor isn't there yet. One of the current hassles is being able to view the settings for only ONE stomp or snapshot assignment at any one time. What would really help is if there was a view mode where the most salient information for EVERY pedal, and/or Snapshot was displayed all at once - at a glance. Since there is so much potential info that could be viewed ( and edited ) maybe some kinds of filter options or preferences would be needed in order to only show in this view the most salient information required. For example sometimes I need to be viewing and editing just the MIDI Controller settings for any pedal, another time all the effects bypass settings and another time the snapshots. There is SO much more potential GUI-wise for making HELIX HX Edit a fine and extremely productive tool for doing major work on HELIX - and at the moment as many have said it really IS currently much easier to edit on the actual unit itself. But as pleasant and cool as that is - there are many times when I want to be editing via HELIX Edit - and am away from the HELIX itself - even in another room - working remotely onto the HELIX via a computer over Wi fi even - and the app comes into its own. And given current limitations workflow-wise concerning MIDI Control aspects it would be really helpful of HX Edit came to the rescue. Surely one of the major things any music-making tool ought to strive at is improving the workflow of anything involving heavily used gear. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Editor-A-view-which-displays-ALL-Stomps-+-Snapshots/926664-23508#idea-tab-comments "add Option to show ALL setlists at same time": https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Editor-Option-to-show-ALL-setlists-at-same-time/816921-23508#idea-tab-comments "Show Snapshots as 8 separate buttons not dropdown" https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Editor-Show-Snapshots-as-8-separate-buttons-not-dropdown/864575-23508#idea-tab-comments View TWO presets at same time ( for copying or comparing settings etc... ) https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Editor-View-TWO-presets-at-same-time/820657-23508#idea-tab-comments
  20. Hello everyone. I need help with how to wire my newly purchased Line 6 Helix and all my other gear. I am somewhat new to setting up all these effects, cables, noisegates and whatnot.. I need a specific step by step way to connect following: Guitar, Line 6 Helix, Mesa Boogie Gridslammer (Overdrive pedal to tighten it up), Ernie Ball Volume pedal, Ibanez Weeping Demon (Wah pedal) , ISP Decimator Pro Rack G (Rack mounted noise gate with 2 channels - This is the one I am having issue with connecting properly), DBX 266 XL (Rackmounted compressor) and last but not least my Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier.... Which goes where? What goes in the loop? What does not? I could really use someone who knows his gear to help me with this cable nightmare. Thank you very much -Zilver90
  21. Greetings, y'all. Greetings, y'all! I've seen several threads of people breaking their exp pedal on helix LT, some even broke two in a row. And I've seen some one referring to an official statement that it is not an inherent design flaw rather than just a manufactoring one (they say, one metal press did not work properly, or something like that). If it really is just one press, and it really was fixed there should be an information on what units can have this issue and what units can not, based on their s/n and/or manufactoring date. Can I haz it pweees? Ya know, so i can avoid defected ones. Yeah, i know, their awesome customer service will send me new unit, if i ever break one. But here's the catch: i'm not gonna contact local official dealer, because they charge almost twice the price (like 1800$ for LT or so, lol), so i'm going to some unofficial pushers who charge an adequate amount of 1000$. And here's more: I don't trust our postal service, because they can easily loose a package, especially if it's the expensive one, so i can't bank on having my replacement straight from Line6 in case anything happens.
  22. Apple MacBook Pro 15" 2016 OSX High Sierra Logic Pro X 10.4.1 Helix Edit 2.5.2 Helix Firmware 2.5.4 We had a problem with our Helix when all of a sudden it would crash when connected into a Logic Session. We discovered that it was tied to Logic's Control Surfaces when, in Logic, we selected "Logic Pro X-->Control Surfaces-->Bypass All Control Surfaces". This would allow the Helix to connect to the computer without crashing, but be unusable in Logic. We then found a Logic Pro forum post referencing how to reset the control surfaces preference. To do this, we Quit Logic. We went to "User Library (Finder-->Go-->[Hold Alt/Option] Library)-->Preferences" and deleted the file "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" When we restarted Logic and connected the HELIX, everything was working again! Hope this helps others with our problem.
  23. So.. It's been awhile since i've used Snapshots.. I'd say quite a few months. I've been recording alot lately. Well, i'm having a hard time actually getting them to work for some reason.. It's a little hard to describe so i'll do the best I can. I don't know if I hit something by accident, but on all my presets that i've made, I typically use the "Stomp/Snap" setting. Now... it's still set to that setting, however the four bottom switches are just inactive.. There's no lights indicating that anything can be changed. I can no longer switch between snapshots while performing. The top switches work totally fine for stompbox purposes.. But the bottom ones aren't doing anything. The bottom ones however do work normally if I set them to stomps, just not for snaps. Any help would be awesome, I can't figure this one out.
  24. So i LOVE the tones i'm getting from my Helix, but when a friend came over and i played his pedalboard fit with all the Tone God pedals.... i want them back! i want them all back! i miss my El Cap, I miss my King Of Tone! So how about Line 6 make a Helix Amp Only pedal? It could be half the size of the HX Effects (heck, even inter lock with it or something) and just do Amp Modeling, IRs, and maybe ONE effect.
  25. my amp makes this constant cracking/buzzing noise when I connect my amps line IN to helix LT's left mono 1/4'' line OUT. I don't have to switch on the helix, simply plugging into the power socket creates this noise. It doesn't happen when I use my podhd 500. Also, I realized this doesn't happen when I connect helix and the amp in the same surge protector box. I might not have the option to use the same power strip for amp and helix. please help Dhawal
