Hey guys, With all the 'vs' and modeler battle demos going on I thought it would be cool to do a few SDS style. We're comparing 8 different amp modelers in a full band context, just as you would use/hear them in real life. All of the amp modelers are running through the exact same OwnHammer 4x12 EVH IR. All of the plugins without IR loaders go through NadIR (with the internal cabs disabled). Hi guys! I recently purchased a Line 6 Helix! After months of reading information online and also getting an amazing hands-on demo with a Line 6 representative in a music store close to home here in Melbourne, Australia! This unit cannot be praised enough in my opinion. I love how much color and variety its given my tone on the Dingwall and Its really refreshing seeing all of these regular firmware updates. Everyone likes the end result first, so here is a pic or the board standing up. (Sorry about my lollipop photography skills) So I've been looking at the Helix a bit over the last couple of days and one thing that stuck out to me was a lack of guides for the I/O when standing up looking at the pedal. In a dark setting and at a show most of the time I'm leaning over my board to look at connections upside down and then having to combat faint text to work out where I'm at. I noticed that the design of the Helix has an angled section near the top. I thought it was a bit odd that this wasn't potentially used for ease of use with respect to the back panel. So I got to thinking. I used a label maker I had lying around at home and purchased some neon green fluorescent cartridges for it. Then, I printed a few copies of each section (adjusting the spacing if need). The method behind this was to be able to separate each section so that the 'boarder line' were in line with where the input/outputs would roughly be. Once all of them were done it as just a matter of sticking them in the order I preferred and now its much easier to deal with plugging everything I need in. So I use for Helix for more them half a year I think so I know how to use it and I know that to change between those two you need to step hard enough on the pedal, and it worked good till this monday. Now it does not change as good as it did. I have to push a lot harder and even when I do it doesn't switch in most of the times. And when it does there is also a problem that I see that it changes for a moment and then goes back like I pushed it twice(which, of course, didn't). Couldn't find anything on this topic by myself, so hope someone can help me with this.

Hey guys! Having a MIDI problem with my Helix/Roland RC505 looper. Trying to send a CC to turn channel 1 on the RC505 on/off, which I've done with other devices. Have set the appropriate channel (1) and MIDI CC#1 to a switch, and it's not working. However, when I switch to CC Toggle mode, it will send the note only with a toggle and turn the channel on, which is not economical for my purposes - just wanna be able to turn my "chorus" guitar sound on while also turning the right channel on! Thanks for any help. :)

Hello, I'd like to connect an old roland GI-10 to helix and play some vst that i have on my pc. Does helix forward midi notes from the midi in to usb as it does any audio interface with midi ports?

My Helix seems to be sending MIDI PC messages out on USB (to my iPad ) whenever my variax is connected via VDI and I change guitar models via the knob on my JTV. How can I stop this from happening ? I Need to send MIDI over SB via footswitches set up in control Center so cannot just turn the "MIDI Over USB" option off. But the option to send out MIDI PC messages is turned off as shown in the photo ) but yet HELIX is still sending out PC when models are changed. Is there a way to prevent this?. Judging by how the settings are set in this picture I would have expected that MIDI PC should be filtered out - 3 of the 4 options - all to do with PC - are off. -
Hi, I've read in this forum that it is possible to connect the iPhone to the Helix via camera adapter using the USB in in the back of the helix in order to stream audio. So, here I am. Everything connected but the music comes out of the loudspeaker of the iPhone and not my headphone (connected to the Helix). What do I have do? Thanks for your input and help. Markus

Hello, Friends My Helix screen stop working and only show sequence of funny colors and pattern changes every 1s. Everything work well but the screen. Anyone else having this problem? How can I fix it?

I just got a Helix and am exploring the Looper section. I would like to be able to fade the looper while still having the guitar output play through. I followed instructions to add an external expression pedal (set up on Exp Pedal 3). While I was able to set up the playback to fade via the pedal, it also fades what I am playing as well. I also want to achieve this in stereo as i run stereo loops with panned parts, etc. I used to use an old Line 6 DDL-4 for loops and one function I loved was that I could set up the loop to fade with my pedal, while still playing through (in mono of course). Made for less choppy endings. Much more fluid than a hard stop. Is their a way to achieve this with the Helix Looper? I'd like to be able to stay "in the box" and not go to an external looper. Thx.

Is there a reason why there have not been any new sounds (amp & effect models) added to the Amplifi since its inception? I constantly get email updates notifying me of new firmware releases for Helix with added sounds. Yet us Amplifi users are still stuck with the same amps and effects since 2014. Can anyone share insight on this? Thanks

Ogni cavo che collego alla pedaliera ha molta corrente elettrica al suo interno. e prendo la scossa se tocco il terminale. Non riesco a toccare le corde della mia chitarra perché prendo la scossa appena la sfioro!! e piuttosto forte!! sbaglio quacosa io nelle impostazioni o è un difetto? Per favore consigliatemi!!! Hi Folks, I'm an LT owner for a number of months, and I really like my Helix, but at a gig last night I finally reached the breaking point where I plan to stop using the tuner completely - I find it too poorly coded to be usable in performance. I would appreciate your advice before buying: Is there a particular tuner you like that has rock solid performance (stability, speed, and accuracy), is durable, and works well with the Helix (i.e., doesn't degrade the guitar signal)? How do you wire in the tuner? I imagine either in-line ( Guitar -> tuner -> Helix LT ) or running to the tuner from the Send (if that's possible). Anything else I should consider? Thanks in advance!

Hi All, I've finally gone and bought a Line 6 Helix, which i'm picking up tomorrow with a Yamaha DBR15 speaker. In preparation for the equipment tomorrow i've been downloading any updates required for the software and noticed it was at 2.30 for the Helix and wondered do I need to download all the previous updates before installing the 2.30 or can I just download 2.30 and receive all of the FX and Amps from the previous updates at the same time? Sorry for possibly such a simple question, but i'm eager to get everything installed straight away and get playing! :) Thank you in advance! PhenJ

So I see that the HX effects can be set to bypass mode by holding the tap/mode button at the same time. I purchased one and am excited to get this hooked up to my small pedal board My question is can you set this up to be pre-programmed on a per preset or even per snapshot level? Or is this only available as a manual function. I'm planning on integrating this with a few different pedals with midi function(chase bliss/eventide) and was hoping when I am not using the HX effects than it would not affect the signal at all. Because I there is only 2 effects loops I unfortunately have to set this up in a chain instead of all through HX effects. Thanks in advanced!

How do you guys setup your xlr out level for recording into audio interface? Rather have a strong signal with line level or rather send out a lower mic level to sound card in order to have more headroom flexibility? Generally, I find the sound quality better going into an audio interface than recording through usb option. THis leads me to a second question.: Can I only record a DI signal when recording through USB? Thanks, Cheers!

Hey guys.. Just curious to know if anyone is running their Helix in 4CM with their Friedman BE100 or modded Marshall in 4CM? Why do I ask? Well, the plan is to keep the settings ‘neutral’ on the amp, however, I’m going to use the Helix to add an OD/tubescreamer pedal here and there (depending on the patch) to give it more bite/cut/top end etc. But, the real question is, has anyone put an EQ somewhere within the signal chain to remove some of the mids to make it a bit ‘angrier’ or a bit more ‘metal’ so to speak? I don’t want to completely scoop the mids, just enough for there to be some differentiation in sound and tone. Granted, the amp has the C45 and SAT switches but they cannot be activated by the Helix, you physically need to do this at the rear of the amp. The amp is incredibly versatile – we know this, but I guess it’s just a matter of whether this can be done, and if so, how.. I presume it’s an EQ block that would do the trick somewhat.. Curious as to whether it's possible when switching between snapshots, that it could carry over the qualities of the previous patch/snapshot? This is hard to describe and maybe I'm missing the right term. I'm building the snapshots for the Police's Synchronicity 2 song. There's that chaos part that happens prior to the last verse. I'm hoping to be able to switch out of a really saturated delay/reverse delay warble patch/snapshot and switch it back to the main guitar part...but have that chaos patch slowly dissipate over the regular verse patch. thanks in advance for any pointers.

Received my helix under a week ago. And I LOVE the sounds so far. Lots of patches made and downloaded. Really love the ones I got from Glenn Delaune. I find myself constantly worried I'm going to break it or wear out one of the inputs or something. I see the occasional thread on people who have joysticks or exp pedals that have broken. Is this really that common?? I guess what I'm asking is this--how durable have you found your Helix to be? Am I being silly with treating it like a baby bird? I bought a case for it from BOSS that's pretty good. If that means anything. Thanks everyone!
