Hello Everyone, I would like to know how the 4(5,6?) cable method* works with my Roland JC-22 AMP. I am new to all of this and I can't seem to find a good tutorial on this topic with my amp and the Helix floor. I want to get the same results as listed in the video tutorial listed here: But in stereo and be able to use my amps' chorus and reverb features. I am not sure how to connect the cables can someone here guide me how to make this happen? Please review the attached pictures of my warped understanding of the topic.

Hey everyone, I am considering getting a Helix LT or Helix with a powered speaker (probably a Yamaha DXR12 or something similar) but I am not entirely sure if I need the extra inputs and outputs of the regular Helix in comparison to the LT and I do not know much about audio routing and I/O. If I wanted to use the Helix LT for vocals or more inputs in the future could I connect a small mixer or something to use the Helix's effects? How do you know if a powered speaker, such as a Yamaha DXR12, is FRFR and loud enough for use? I'm having a hard time being able to tell if one speaker would be enough having never bought a powered speaker before. I am used to my 15w 2x12 tube amp and how would that compare in volume? Also kind of hoping that I can use the DXR12 with my keyboard (Yamaha P115) too. I've been playing guitar for over 10 years but haven't had any effects or reverb since my Carvin SX200 solid state amp died ages ago and I replaced it with a single channel Egnater Tweaker 15w tube amp. The last modeler I had while ago was the Line 6 TonePort UX2 and it sounds like modelers have definitely stepped up the game! After following the new Helix videos on YouTube for a while I am hoping that the Helix or something equivalent will bring some excitement and inspiration to my guitar and bass playing hah! Thanks everyone!

Hello, I have owned my Helix for about 3 months and I absolutely love it! I also own a Relay G70 wireless system and it has been working great along with my Helix. The Helix owner's manual indicates that you should use the "AUX IN" jack for any guitar equipped with an active pickup like a Fender Stratocaster Eric Clapton signature model. My question is does it really matter what jack the Relay G70 plugs into if I am using a guitar with an active pickup? The Relay G70 also serves an ABY switcher and direct box, so I do have multiple output options to work with if needed. Just curious if it matters or not. I certainly don't want to damage the Helix. It would be nice to not worry about this when I switch to different guitars. Thank you!

Hey! First post here. Been using a Helix for my full live rig for about 6 months. I run it Danelectro > Helix > EHX mag 44 > 2 x 12 cab. (As well as running it as a vocal comp and preamp) That being said, I’d love to get more out of the variax side of the Helix. It’s obvious to me that i can’t convert the dano in to variax which has led me into seriously considering picking up a JT variax. My question is, if there was a point that i wanted to convert the JT to a baritone using a Warmoth 28†inch neck, would that effect or even possibly damage the digital components of the variax system. Thanks again, Zane

Hey, Helixers (Helixites?)! Earlier today, I received an e-mail from Line 6 Promotions advertising "30% Off All Line 6 Software and Model Packs". I was happy to purchase Helix Native (for Helix owners) for $70 + tax. I definitely would have bought it eventually, but this discount sweetened the deal. :D You can access the Line 6 Software site at http://shop.line6.com/software. The code to use at checkout is "CYBER30". You can find the PDF ad here: http://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3ee2fd5a1347368d310/application/pdf As far as I know, this will work on the full Helix Native (for non-Helix owners and for Helix LT owners), as well. I hope this helps make your holidays sound even better!

Hi guys, I've got a question for you. Since this is my first post on this forum I'd like to introduce myself: I am Fed, a guitarist, mixing and mastering engineer from the North of England. I am setting up a live rig with my band: a MacBook running Logic Pro X that controls our lighting system, backing tracks, my Fractal Ax8 and my guitarist's Helix LT. I've read the entire manual, done a bit of trial and error and I've managed to setup all the CC/PC and everything works properly until I move the playhead in Logic (both with the mouse or the hotkeys). Each time I move the playhead the Helix goes on tuning mode, the next time it turns off the tuning mode (and go on and on) without any apparent reason. If I save the Logic project, close the project, open it again and I start it from the top without stopping or moving the playhead at all it works fine, but the first time that I move the playhead it start to act crazy again. Are there some settings I need to change? Has someone got this problem and know how to solve it? What am I doing wrong? I can do a video if it helps you to understand, thank you in advance!

Sorry if I’ve missed it but I can’t find anything on this topic. I just bought a Mesa Mark V35 and currently own a HD500X (&dt25) my amp is supposed to be here next week. I’ve never worked with 4CM as I’ve only used L6 link with my setup and I keep reading about tone suck with the HD but also read how overcome that. Has anyone here gone from the HD using 4CM to the Helix? Is there a negligible difference that justifies buying the Helix for this purpose? I’m more concerned about the integrity of tone from that amp first and then high quality fx. I’m more focused on being able to switch channels on the amp and keep volumes under control without destroying the amps natural tone. Thanks!

Hi all, I have been owning a Helix pedalboard for two years and played lots of gigs with it. While I am very happy with it, last night I noticed that a couple of the pots under the display were loose. Before opening the unit and see whether I can tighten them up, I would like to know if that is actually possible. Problem is that, while gigging, it is very easy to accidentally hit those pots with the foot. Luckily they still work, however Line 6 should consider some kind of protection to avoid that in the next Helix generation.

Hey I recently switched to a rack system and have the helix rack, effects gizmo, alembic f2b, a power amp and a shelf powered by a pedal power 2+ These are all plugged into a furman M8dx. And plan to be adding a wireless system for guitar and in ears as well. I will be powering on the power amp seperately but would leaving the helix rack(and everything else except the power amp) in the on position and turning it on/off with the power conditioner damage the helix? I have been careful to power everything on individually but wanted to know if I could streamline the process Also I noticed when switching the helix rack off from the front power switch it makes a crackling sort of noise is this normal? It seems to be functioning properly but I don't want to damage it

The title pretty much sums it up. Why do iDevice users get better support? Feels slightly discriminatory! Please make Helix work with Android! (upvote if you agree) Other than that THANK YOU for an amazing device, it's INCREDIBLE!

Hello everyone, thanks for contributing for this forum! Amazing source of information! I finally received my Helix today, I am so happy about it, played with it for 4 hours working on different presets. My question is what is the best configuration to use it connected directly to my guitar combo, I will mic the combo to the main mixer. Since I already have a Mesa Boogie Mark V, should I still create an amp/combo block or should only create a pre amp, or create nothing? Is there anyway to send the effect session into my boogie send/return session and use the Helix overdrives/distortion emulation in front of the boogie?? I need to know what is the best optimized connection and configuration in this case. I really appreciate any insight. Thank you in advance. Marcio

Hello, This is my first post on this forum. I'm receiving a Helix soon, and was looking at alternatives to the Helix Backpack. I am quite interested in this: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GMULTIFX2411. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this case, especially on how well it fits the Helix? Thanks.

Hi All Ok So i am losing my mind trying to get Helix and Variax JTV 69 working. I installed a brand new Windows 10 install and no matter what always get 'The connected Variax is not compatible with Workbench HD. You must use a James Tylers Variax version 2.0 or higher' so I go and disconnect the Variax completely and get the exact same error so it appears that really the message is bogus. I have the supplied VDI cable and have tried several CAT 5 and Cat 5 E cables still always get the same error. Does any know exactly why this doesnt work? Does having Line 6 POD HD 500 installed as well as helix cause this? I did not try uninstalling Line 6 monkey but did disconnect the line 6 POD 500. I just cant figure out how this doesnt work and why my system only FYI Line 6 Support says they have no idea and it 'should work;! Here is my Black Friday recording with 2.30 firmware https://hearthis.at/joejeffries/supermassivemomentum-live-11-24-2017/ help help

Attention all you two-voice-at-the-same-time-junkies. Here are some alternatives for you. They are derived from Mama Bear. I used Logic Pro's Impulse Response Utility, they are all 32-bit (recorded at 24 and converted) 48K (recorded that way NOT converted) 2048 (a couple are 2047 or 2046, they work the same, it's just really hard to crop exactly 2048 in that clunky program) IRs. All of them work in Helix. I tested them. Here's the thing. Mama Bear makes you not only choose the model, but the input device. I chose the setting that matched my PowerBridge, with EQ flat, captured all the IRs 100% wet (of course), and named them in a manner that should make total sense (ros means rosewood, mah means mahogany, etc. let me know if you can't figure the name of one of them or just download the Mama Bear manual). The number at the front is the number of the model in that manual. A few really cool and different ones are the Gypsy Jazz, Archtop Jazz and resonator models. Very surprising. What surprises me even more is that even though they were made with the "wrong" input selected for a "real" acoustic guitar, they seem to work great in that way! I tried some with my Crowdster and they worked really well. More subtle, I think, than the Fishman Aura ones floating around, and you may like those Fishman ones better (for certain things I think I still do). I will make a sample video when I can, and will probably capture another set with the under-saddle input circuitry selected to see if it works better with acoustic guitars. I attached a zip file if you want as well. same files as the link above. 2 things. 1. Let me know what you think and if they are useful and 2. post a ridiculously overstated compliment right here if you download them. Something like "Peter Hamm is the most amazing human that has ever lived and I want to be like him when I grow up", you know... something like that to make me feel good about myself. Here's the link again. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B5YMP7cdVF-LTWE5TkFrb0ZTUGc?resourcekey=0-aHwTzPqpm6djoyONpGhDNw&usp=sharing

Hey guys, I am struggling with setting up a nice, punchy (but not brittle), convincing Marshall crunch on Helix. For the lack of a better example, below (the intro) is what I consider to be closest to my personal holy grail crunch tone as far as Marshalls go. Any tips on how to get there? Thanks!

For live use i connect the XLRs to the FOH and I use the 1/4" outs for my QSC k10 for monitoring. I've discovered the need for a separate volume control/knob for my monitors without affecting the P.A. / FOH level. In the "Global settings" it seems that I can route the volume knob to only XLR outs - that works fine. The 1/4" outs then hits full output to my monitors without any way for controlling the volume output from the Helix. Routing the Phones to 1/4" nothing happens to the 174" out levels. I've tried to route the other way around (Volume knob only controlling the 1/4"). The XLR outs are then on full output volume and can't be controlled by the Phones knob, even when this knob is routed to "XLR". It seems that only the Volume knob is "working". Phones volume knob seems stuck to controlling only the phones stereo 1/4" output. Anyone had any experience on how to route the Volume knob to "master" L/R XLR outs and the Phones vol knob to the "master" L/R 1/4" outs? Im running FW version 2.30.0

I recently got the Helix and I'm trying to match the bass tone I used to get with my old 11rack. There is a clip linked below. Anyone have suggestions for where to start? In the 11 rack I was using an Ampeg model and a Rat but that same setup isn't getting me there with the Helix. https://soundcloud.com/ejendres/burrito-bass-136bmp-audiotrimmercom

Hiya, I have a weird problem that happens since i updated logic... or my system... I am using the helix as output with headphone (got family sleeping) Everything is fine until i launch Logic, then the helix sound is turned off. Not the playback, just the live guitar, the output from logic works, and guitar is back on monitoring when i hit record. I tried the input monitor but it makes no difference, the live guitar output is gone, even if i turn of Logic. The only way to get it back is to reboot the helix. I didn't have that problem before, and i don't know if the problem came with a logic update or system upgrade (el captain), or something else. I didn't made changes in the helix at that time for sure. The problem is there did it with v2.1 i have updated to v2.3 same. And is more likely to be a logic related answer. I think, somehow, logic is sending an order to the helix to "shut up". Any ideas how to bring back the guitar live monitoring ? cheers Olivier
