Hi Line 6 community, I have a ev elx 12 powered speaker that I use with my helix. I also have a vintage ev 12L speaker sitting around and am thinking about switching the stock speaker out for the 12L. I know it's a lot heavier and fuller sounding speaker with a very flat response. Question is, will this work, are they compatible? Or would this be a waste? Any thoughts or experience would be very helpful. Thanks! Justin Ps-this is my first post here

Hi I have recently downloaded Helix Native 1.01 to try out the trial version in Ableton The Ableton version I am using is 9.7.5 (64 Bit) After the plugin has been installed, I can see it in the Audio Units section in my plugins. However when I double click the Helix Native audio unit the plugin does not launch. I also tried dragging it into an audio track, same result. I have tried rescanning my plugins and restarting Ableton, same result. Any idea how I can resolve this? Also during the installation process the installer states that the plugin will be installed to varios locations below AU Plug-in: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Helix Native.component VST2 Plug-in: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/Line 6/Helix Native.vst VST3 Plug-in: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Line 6/Helix Native.vst3 AAX Plug-in: /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/Line 6/Helix Native.aaxplugin VST3,Audio Unit Component and AAX are all installed as expected but the VST is not. Is this simply an error in the documentation? As it does state elsewhere that on AU, VST3 and AAX is supported.

Hi guys! I just uploaded this new video. It's a Helix Native demonstration in 9 different styles ranging from clean to 8-string metal. I used different amp models and OwnHammer IR's for each tone. Helix Native is such a wonderful tool and I've been a fan ever since it came out. Working wth this plugin is just so easy and I get great results every single time! If I get enough requests I could do a tutorial for all the tones. Please enjoy:

Rather confused amateur here trying to name the FX Loop blocks I've put in my preset. I've searched and found answers that seem so straightforward, but I'm missing something that makes it actually work. My goal is to name the block scribble strip so I know what "FX Loop 1...2...3" each represent. Thank you so much for any help!

Where is the helix patch list? I'm only finding about 30 factory patches. Are all the patches in folder 2?

Hi I'm almost about to make the leap from a HD500X to a helix. I downloaded the demo Helix VST in order to start the task of moving over my patches. I had one on the HD500X which made good use of 2 filter pedals - Synth - o - matic & V-tron. On the Helix there are only 3 devices in the filter category vs 17 on the HD500x. Are there any plans to release new effects bundles? I have to admit I was a bit surprised at the disparity here. Also what would be a good way of emulating the Synth - o - matic & V-tron in the Helix world.

I have a gig next weekend and plan on using my Helix directly into a PA. I was wondering, how should I adjust my presets (equalize) so that I can cut through the mix well, while still having a killer tone? A preset made in a room will NOT sound the same when played in a live setting (with drummer, bass, etc). I have heard that I should boost my mids to cut through the mix well, so maybe I should do that. What do you all think? Do any of you have good live presets you would like to share with me? Or explain your methodology behind creating your preset? The songs I'm playing live with a band include the following: - Bubble Dream by Chon - Book by Chon - Elliptical Illuminations by Chon Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi all, I was wondering if it is possible to control external gear via MIDI with Helix in snapshot mode? I would like to select a snapshot and in that snapshot select the correct program on a Whammy pedal and activate it. I've tried it but I got no success. I remind have read somewhere in the manual that controlling MIDI devices is only abailable in stombox mode? this seems unlogical to me as at least in preset mode should be able to do it, but not sure about snapshot mode... Thanks!

SOLVED ! Greetings, I have a jtv 89f 2.22 updated and plugged with a variax cable in a HELIX 2.21 updated, just when I plugged it, the sound apear to be realy low and increase slowly by it self ... the only solution to fix the volume is to block it in the helix ... does any one have this problem ? Hey Everyone, I just got a new laptop and have tried editing my helix on the editor but I am having an issue with display/response. If I hover my mouse over a preset name and click on it it actually selects the preset above the one I’m trying to select. This happens on everything on the screen and has become a huge pain to use. I have tried changing resolution of screen and even compatibility mode in the application preferences but nothing has worked. Anyone out there know a fix? Thanks in advanced

I posted this on TGP, and I figured I should post here as well. I think others are having the same issue, so maybe we can help find the cause; I was unsuccessful with the Helix 2.0 update today. After using the Line 6 Updater on 2 different computers (both running Windows 7), my Helix is bricked. I get either a blank screen, or I get alternating Helix and Helix Rack logos. I finally called customer support. The guy I talked to walked me through the update process again with no success. Then he had me try to revert to 1.10 using the Updater software, but that didn't work either. Apparently, multiple people have had this issue and they have not been able to determine the source of the problem. The service rep said it doesn't seem to be a Windows/Mac thing. Unfortunately, I now have to send my Helix in to Line 6 and wait for them to find a fix. He said it may take a couple of weeks to resolve and fix the issue. I've got 2 gigs next week, so I'm going to have to go back to analog. Luckily, I haven't sold any of my pedalboard (I was thinking of doing exactly that!). I've come to really rely on the Helix, but I'll manage just fine. I just wanted to warn people about the issue.

So I'm geeking out my gear completely. Variax, Helix and Tripleplay. My issue is getting Helix to send program changes to Tripleplay. It has it's own channel in Helix and I set up the volume as a fade from guitar to synth or back. I've tried INSTANT from the Command Center but can't get it to move synth patches when the Helix changes patches. I could use some insight on this. I can't be the only one who is doing this. BTW I haven't tried to do any other MIDI controller settings yet. This is all going through a PC laptop.

TL : DR - skip to bullet points Greetings fellow musical brethren & sistren. I have traveled here from the people of ambient , post-rock and praise/worship type music. Here's my pedalboard. I run it through a mesa 5:50 and vox 1x12 cab that came with the ac4tv head. I recently found a used helix at GC so I asked the boss if I could get it and pay it off over a year. My wife said yes, so that was fantastic. I posted a lot of my gear up for sale but now I'm having second thoughts. Here are my concerns. Issues At church it has frozen two weeks in a row now. I can't use ANY footswitches , they are unresponsive and I have to turn the unit off/on. It hasn't done this at my house where I've had it on for equal amount of time. It sounds fine in my headphones but XLR out to PA it ends up sounding really thin and trebley. I'm going to go test it out more in depth Saturday *** Thoughts on helix when it works.. Way lighter Extensive collection of amps / cabs / IR's. Also nice being able to use third party IR's Reverbs aren't quite as good as some higher end stuff...but that's okay. I stack a bunch of them to make them work how i'd like. Delays are quite good, stereo sounds so nice. Overdrives seem pretty good. I think they did a great job on the timmy, which is my fav OD I feel like it does metal / heavy music better than clean Setting up patches is easy whether its using board or connected to PC. I prefer PC setup if possibe :) you CAN connect multiple instruments but it will take some tweaking. Guitar In seems perfectly balanced where as using other inputs ends up sounding weaker at first. The DSP chips can only hold so much. You can't load a ton of amps in one preset...which is not a huge deal to me.

Hello everyone, 1) I am using my Helix with a Mesa Boogie JP2C and I noticed when I switch presets, there are volume differences. I expect this is normal depending on your effects settings etc. But is there a simple way to have all the presets set at the same volume? 2) I also had another question (sorry about this) how should I connect my Helix and JP2C to an Audio Interface? I use the 4 cable method, but what output should I use to send to the input of my USB Audio Interface? (It is just a scarlet solo so nothing special, but it only has a mic input and a guitar input). 3) Last question I promise, again sorry about all of the questions, I figured I would just ask them all in one post rather than make multiple posts. When using the Helix With the JP2C (even with the Cabinet turned off) there is a lot of noise. I have read through the forums that a Behringer HD400 would work, how about the Hush Super C, Stereo Noise Exterminator? Would that be better or should I use both? Thank you for any help you can provide and I apologize for all of the questions, I just didn't want to make multiple posts. Thanks!

Hey guys, New Helix LT owner here (still withing return period), been hd500x user for years. Here is my problem. This is how I used to operate Hd500x: I would setup my presets (doesn't matter what's inside really), balance the levels to my liking, and then add a volume block at the end of each preset tied to expression pedal. This way I had sort of a master volume on my HD no matter which preset I am in. I knew that if I need to dial myself down, I will still be in balance volume-wise once I jump to another preset. Now with Helix, It seems to totally ignore the fact that I have set EXP1 and EXP2 position set to be Global, and when I switch between presets, it sets volume block pedal position to whatever it was when I saved it. IT DOESN'T apply the actual position of the pedal upon switching between presets. What do I do here? I MUST be able to control my overall unit level, and it just worked on HD500x. FYI, before I created any sounds on it, I went ahead and upgraded to 2.21 software, so all my patches are "native" 2.21. Am I missing something here? LOVE the unit, but this is becoming a showstopper. Giant volume jumps when going from preset to preset, not usable. Any help and tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is it possible to use helix control with the floor unit so that you can get more switching of effects. Or even use control for snapshots and the floor units buttons for effects (or vice versa)? Thanks

I've asked in the Facebook group and read some threads over here about the topic but some things about it still confuses me, so here we go again. Is there any panning law by default in the Helix while using Y splits or AB splits followed by a merge block? At what dB? Is the signal lowered att the split or at the merge block? I'm using a patch for my bass that has a y split in the beginning with some distortion blocks on path 1b, and no blocks on path 1a, followed by a merge block, some comp, mod and lastly a single amp block and a cab. I use this setup to "blend" the distortions with my clean bass tone before hiting the amp block. But something sounds "off" while doing this compared to just putting all the blocks on a single path. I do understand how panning does work and that merging two mono signals results in a boost of 3db, two stereo signals in a 6 db boost, etc. Allthough i compensate by cutting the output block of the merge block I still end up by a signal that sounds either slightly boosted or with to little gain hitting the amp block. The settup that seem to be working the best is to use a Y split with L+R hard panned to either side and then both panned center at the merge block + a -3db compensation at the merge blocks output gain. Even by doing this you can clearly hear a difference when moving fxs like a comp block before or after the split+merge. Am I missing something? I do not have the dist blocks in path 1b on all the time and I want my blocks to get the same amount of signal after the split/merge as if I wasn't usinging parallel paths. Is this even possible?

Hey All, I'm really digging my month-old Helix and have enjoyed experimenting with the plentiful Helix CustomTone patches. As you you soon discover with the patches, the audio input vs output levels are all over the place, which makes them difficult to use right out of the box in band practice and performance. I;d like to tweak them to get them all into some usable range, but I need a plan. Does anyone have a good strategy for normalizing the volume of the patches - bring them to a relatively equal level? Is "unity gain" a good starting point for determining an output volume? It seems clear to me that some patches will warrant higher gain to get the desired effect. Is there a technical standard somewhere? Should tweaking be done before the amps and cabs or after? So many questions! Mike in Maryland

Hello everyone new to the forum, I would like to know how can I connect two tube amps both in 4CM to my helix. I have one 6505+ and an ENGL invader that I would like to use with my helix. I tried using helix’s fx loop 1 for the peavey--> output L and helix’s fx loop 2 for the ENGL--> output R. At this point everything sound fine at low volume, but every time I increase the volume using the big volume knob I get a loud feedback noise that is not present when only one amp is connected to the helix, maybe I’m connecting something wrong. Thank you for your help

I've had the following experience twice now: I start rehearsing, and after about one and a half hour, right after changing to a new preset I get no sound whatsoever. Everything appears to be normal, but no matter what I try, there is no more sound coming out of the Helix. After I switch the unit off and back on again, everything is back to normal. Any ideas? I use a Variax JT 89 connected through the VDI. I can't have the failure repeat itself by going through the same sequence of presets. Can this be a temperature issue, I mean could it be that the unit is heating up in some way?

I suspect this is like looking for a needle in a hay-stack.. On the off extreme off chance, is anyone using their Helix to control their Bogner Hafler Triple Giant via Midi? I'm planning on using it in a 4CM type setup with a power amp. I guess I'm just curious to see if anyone has had any success in getting it to change channels via midi with their Helix. Thanks. (NOTE, I really don't expect many replies given the rarity of this unit, however any help or input is appreciated!)

My band has been selected to play at Summer's End festival in Wales in early October of this year. I will need to bring both my JTV89F and Helix. I know there has been new legislation for bringing instruments into the cabin vs checking them in like luggage. If anyone has been traveling recently especially with a guitar I would certainly appreciate any insight or what to expect traveling overseas with an instrument.

A little help, guys. I purchased, downloaded, and installed several of custom patches into my Helix from Worship Tutorials. I feel like everything loaded correctly, but when I look on my Helix all I am able to do is switch between patches, not change the effects like a stomp box. Any thoughts on what I'm missing in the process?

Hi everybody, I was thinking about how to connect my helix with my old 1960A cabinet, just for fun. I would be like this, right?: Helix (with any amp simulation ON, FX etc., but any cab sim OFF) > ??? > 1960A. The »???« would be what? Kind of a power amp of course. I have a spare 2 x 100W power amp from an old PA somewhere in the basement (no idea about the ohm settings). Would this work? Or would I blow something? Thanks in advance Opti/Alex
