  1. Hello all, I got my Helix yesterday, and needless to say I've had nothing but issues so far. I plugged it in and plugged my headphones in, and started playing. I noticed the signal would cut in and out every few seconds or so, so I unplugged the headphones... only to notice the tip of the headphone connector was still stuck inside the unit (which I do not blame on the Helix at all!). I was able to remove it luckily. Today, I just can't get any kind of signal into or out of the Helix. I've done numerous resets, and reinstalled the newest version of Helix firmware. Nothing. I have everything (headphones, guitar, USB to computer) plugged in exactly like I did yesterday when I got the unit and had sound, but nothing. Also yesterday, I connected the unit through USB to my Windows 10 desktop, and I was able to hear my computers sound through the headphone jack on the Helix. I can't even get that to work today. Any tips? I really wanna mess with the unit, but not in the fashion of repeated troubleshooting and the like. Thanks! CBpunk16
  2. Has anyone tried the Firehawk 1500 as a FRFR monitor for Helix using the XLR i/o? Is there a consensus on tone quality? Does the Firehawk 1500 standup against the usual suspect in the market?
  3. Good Morning How many devices can I register or install when you buy the model pack? I have five equipment. 02 HD500 02 HD 500x 01 POD PRO I can install in all with a single purchase? 4. I've got a new Helix and bought a Variax 700 to try out some of the features. When I set a patch to a "per patch" input setting for the Variax to always select that guitar sound, the guitar seems to change to the desired sound initially but then keep that setting on any other patch selected after. Also, when I try to select an alternate tuning, it has no effect at all. Has anyone else had this and does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it as I can't find a global or patch related setting that might be causing it?
  5. I've made two tutorials on controlling basic parameters of the SourceAudio Nemesis delay with the Helix. 6. So the way I've been recording is I use the Helix into an interface which then goes into my Mac. On the Helix I have the guitar patch EQ'd and Compressed. I was wondering if I would get better mixing results by bypassing the EQ and Compression on the guitar patch for when I record, and then do the EQ'ing and Compression on my DAW.
  7. Yes I know there's another thread on this but it's dead and I wanted to ask some more questions. I write most patches to be used in house of worship to the board scenario - so I have to control volume increases. The Helix doesn't have an internal VU meter and my cheap mixer at home only shows the signal is clipping - so I'm trying to understand the volume jumps of a parallel path. If I have a pretty simple setup - amp > delay > reverb and I pull the delay or reverb down into a parallel path (creates y split and merge block automatically) - how much is the volume actually increasing? To compensate for that increase, should you lower the volume at the merge block? Any other advise or recommendations for someone setting up patches and trying to limit volume like I do?

  10. Hi, I've been using a POD X3 for my live sound for many years now and although I'm very happy with it, I've always wanted to upgrade, even more so now with the release of Helix. The trouble is, a few of my bands songs extensively use the X3's 'Synth Strings' effect, so much so that we cannot live without it. I bought an HD Pro a year or two back to replace the X3, seeing it had a 'Synth String' effect, however I had to return it as the HD's 'Synth String' sounded nothing like the X3's Synth String, plus it seemed the HD couldn't do half the the stuff the X3 could do in Dual Tone mode without reaching DSP processing limits? Are there plans to patch the Synth String effect into the Helix? If not, can there be? This will be the Synth String effect modelled on 'ARPSolina / Elka® Strings'. Also, for recording, I like to record the dry signal, and use POD Farm VST, so that I can tweak settings further down the line. Are there plans to make a VST Helix plugin, so that I can have Helix tones within my DAW, rather than one-shot recording?
  11. There are a lot of promotional videos from Line6, and they all sound much better than any preset I created with my new Helix. Jack Thammarat e. g. shows how to create a lead tone for Helix: I reproduced everything like shown in this video, I also used an Fender Stratocaster – but my patch sounds not as good as in the video. Much less brilliant and not as much like an tube amp in this video. Well, Jack Thammarat wrote he recorded the sound directly via USB … I can't believe it. Are there any tricks to get my guitar and Helix sound better? Preamps? Post production? Other things? Has anyone any suggestions? Ulf
  12. Hey everyone I have the helix rack, and the floor controller I am currently looking for a rack drawer(hopefully shallow/half depth) to store the helix controller in most I've seen are only 15.5"ish wide but the helix is 17" wide. As I'm hoping to go half depth drawer I was wondering what other people were using
  13. Greetings fellow forum-ites Recently bought a condenser mic to use with my Helix. Plug it in and turn on phantom power then start to bring up the mic gain and all is good..... ...plug in the USB cable and all of a sudden there is horrendous noise. This noise translates to recordings also. Moving the mouse around modulates the noise. This does not happen when using Variax or Guitar. I'm not really sure I understand why the USB input/output is involved in the gain and input for the microphone. As I said without the USB cable inserted there is no noise and everything is good. Anyone else experiencing this?
  14. I just purchased a third Stagesource Speaker. I already had 2 L2t's and I added a L3t. I wanted to use the L3t as a floor monitor. So I hooked them up as follows: Helix ------ L6 link out----- L2t - L6 link out ------- L3t ------ L6 link out-----L2t No matter what I do whatever speaker is last in the chain (that makes it speaker 3) there is no output to that speaker. I do have all 110 ohm AES/EBU cables per the manual. All cables have been tested in all configurations and they work. In theory per the manual my configuration should have the L2t's in stereo and the L3t as a Left + Right sum. Anyone else use the Stagesource speakers this way? What the heck am I doing wrong? I have plugged the Helix into each speaker via L6 link and they work fine. Tried tall three cables and they all work. The speakers also work fine as a array if the Helix is not in the chain? When the helix is in the chain the speakers set themselves as 1, 2, and 3 on back. The #3 speaker gets no output. When The Helix is not in the chain the speakers configure as L, b(both) and R just as they should. What is going on.
  15. Hey friends. I am looking for others that are playing a Gretsch hollowbody with filtertron pickups. I use a Black Falcon but anyone with a similar guitar, hopefully you can help - I can get pretty good tones from the guitar and the Helix, however i wanted to see what EQ settings (parametric, etc) others may be using to tame the hollowbody. Getting the best sound you can from the guitar. I play mainly worship/rock music. So i go from clean to a bit of high gain.
  16. This is another combination patch, Orange OR80 and the Marshal Plexi. Created with a PRS SE Custom 24. In the recording below, I utilize both humbuckers and single coil tones. Hope you like it. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/2218528/ Link to audio sample: https://soundcloud.com/aepoc/saginaw-3
  17. Excellent report. Last night the Helix with FW 2.0 knocked it out of the park. Great tone, many compliments (including my wife who is very critical ... which I actually admire and enjoy), and great band mix. Using the Global EQ, setting the output to max letting the mixer channel control signal, and just playing was very easy and extremely enjoyable. I didn't get to the snapshots of any of my presets during the 4 hour show so at this point the Z value was not addressed nor did it in any way detract my tone from FH. Thought maybe someone would like to get a report on this. That's my story and ... Dennis
  18. Anybody have any formant wah settings they've programmed? If not, any ideas on how to get them? Maybe via 2 (or 3?) wahs, using the same pedal as a controller, in parallel, to create the necessary frequency variations to get "vowel sounds"? two frequency formant three frequency formant I am a giant fan of Line 6 products generally and the Helix specifically - it's worth more than the combined value of many of my other effects, not even including the 2 JTVs I bought to really unleash it. But I am still surprised this is such a blind spot for the folks doing the typically robust modelling work. Thanks for any help you can provide - Dan
  19. Hello All, Helix Rack noob here. For whatever reason, the Helix rack will not connect to my PC via USB (Windows 7/Core i7/Cubase 8/32GB RAM) or be recognized by the Line Updater. I have tried plugging the USB cable into the rear USB port as has been suggested in previous posts. This was (and continues to be) met with extreme futility. Any wise suggestions that would remedy this most unfortunate situation would be enthusiastically read and eagerly anticipated. Closing salutations, MolchMon molchmon.bandcamp.com
  20. Hi, week-long lurker, first-time poster. Just got the Helix and love it. Only played it through cheap-ish headphones and still blown away. I've sifted through this forum as well as ones on other sites and compiled a lot of helpful tips about my following question, but also enough confusion to warrant asking it here directly ... I am looking to buy a speaker/PA system that will cover the following personal needs: I am using the Helix to process guitar as well as some electronic drums, a synth sometimes, looping w/an external looper, possibly even my vocals. So--primarily I'm a one-man band (and having the ability to process all these things through the Helix, on top of replacing my pedal board, is why I got it; really, it's a revolutionary device, not that I need to waste time preaching to the choir, but truly, revolutionary is an accurate descriptor for it), and thus the speaker/PA setup should reflect this use, particularly w/the idea in mind that it'd be used as my amplification in small venues (coffee shops->small bars sizes). I also play guitar in a couple of bands and would like to be able to use the same speaker/PA as either a monitor if we play somewhere that has FOH or on its own if we play somewhere that doesn't. Again, small-size rooms; not expecting to play theaters any time soon. From all I've read, this doesn't seem like an unreasonable expectation from the various FRFR/PA options out there.. I'd like to ideally use the same setup at home so I don't have to be concerned w/creating different patches for different systems, and would like the patches I create to translate as well as possible to FOH (I've read a lot about all that and understand moving from one system of playback to another will always cause some differences in how the patch comes across, but just looking to have decent expectations that things won't shift too drastically). One concern I read about is that creating patches using low volumes on speakers won't translate when the volume is increased in a live situation (or it may have just been playing through them w/the volume low won't sound too good?), and thus a suggestion was to use studio monitors at home. I'm open to this idea, but again, ideally would like one setup that covers it all. My favorite comment from those I've compiled is the one that seems to directly address my needs--"I'd go for one L2M just to give me an all in one home jamming, jamming w/friends, and a gig solution"--so perhaps my question is really, does this answer to another user's question also successfully answer mine? I'll also mention I have a JamHub, if that's helpful to know/put to use at all. I wouldn't mind not using/needing it though; really hoping to keep things as streamlined as possible, and the JamHub usually stays in my office. Thanks a lot for any help you can offer-
  21. Hi all trouble-havers  , In case you're having the error "error 1114 dynamic link library (DLL) intialization routine failed" when trying to open your recently installed Helix Editor application, refer to the following YouTube video and follow the instructions ( ). It appears to have something to do with laptops circa 2010-2012 that have switchable graphics. I tried my damndest and even opened a Line 6 trouble ticket (to no avail...they ended up telling me to contact Microsoft) to get this solved, but I just stumbled on this and now I can finally open the Line 6 Helix editor without errors. Hope this helps someone!
  22. Hey again guys, I need a bit of help. Is there any way to take cab packs from the .sysex file format and perhaps put them through a converter to make them into .wav files. A friend of mine loaded a few of his AxeFX IR files into a thumb drive for me to try and they are in SysEx format. Shouldn't I be able to convert these to .wav for the Helix to read them? ...ALSO is there any news of the Helix possibly supporting this type of file for IRs soon?
  23. Hi guys, I seem to have noticed something a bit odd. The updater says that the Helix should only rebuild patches after an update and the first time you turn it back on. My helix now rebuilds patches for a bit longer than It did before the 2.0 update. Am I not powering it off correctly? OR Should it take longer to rebuild patches now and is that a normal function? Also on a semi-unrelated note but still curious... Can i revert back to the original tuner display without the enhanced view? Thanks everyone!
  24. I am trying to have my delays and reverb continuing when I switch presets, but this is not working even though I have trails on on my delay. I am missing something?
  25. Hey Everybody, I just spent a couple hours copying every model (effects, amps, cabs, etc.) from the Helix owner's manual into an Excel spreadsheet. The first tab (ALL MODELS) should be printable going down the whole list. I also took every model type and put it on its own tab: distortion models, dynamics, etc. Best part is, I even took a screenshot of the owner's manual pdf and exactly matched the color coding from the Line 6 Helix owner's manual. Here's hoping somebody enjoys my hard work! This should be a good way to see which "real world" models correspond to which model. Here it is: Helix Models.xlsx Enjoy!
