  1. Looking for any input from someone using a Taylor T5Z with Helix. I currently have a JTV59 and JTV89F along with a VAC700 and all sound great through the helix. I am primarily trying to give myself a kick in the butt into playing more and have been looking at the Taylor T5Z. Any insight would be appreciated-Leftzilla
  2. Hi all, this is my first post. Need some help about my Helix LT. So Last night i had a gig and i used Marshall Tube amp. The sound was nasty, terrible. So i learned from few forums that i need to use FRFR speaker to get a clean authentic Helix sound. So my Question is what is the best FRFR speaker? Does QSC K series consider as an FRFR speaker? I do gigs here and there and i drive coupe. So won't able to carry a big speaker.
  3. Hi, I'm digging in to doing some re-amping, with a choice of using either my Helix Floor or Helix Native for the job. I've got my routing working either way, and they both sound great, but it appears there is one compelling reason to do the majority of re-amping "discovery" in Helix Native. The reason is that, so far as I have been able to determine, checking out different patches via Helix Floor requires me to reset the Helix Floor patch input (e.g. to USB 3-4) every time I change to a new patch. OTOH, when using Helix Native, I can just click on new patches bing-bang-boom, no input resetting required. This is MUCH quicker! Do I understand the situation correctly, or am I missing the trick as to how to re-amp with Helix Floor without having to constantly set the patch input? (All the above using Helix ASIO driver, with a music mix playing back from the DAW)
  4. Hello Helix Gurus! I'm trying to use the Poly Capo in order to make my guitar that tuned for D standard to sound like a guitar tuned in C standard. I decreased the interval by 2 but instead of it sounding like a guitar tuned for C standard it sounds lower but the are harmonies with each chord or not I play. Is there a setting I'm forgetting to set or am I completely misunderstanding how to use Poly Capo. I did follow a tutorial on You Tube it seemed to work for them. Why not me! haha I attached a screen capture of my configuration. Hopefully somebody will see some simple mistake I made. Thank you!!
  5. I have dabbled in snapshots just one time though I feel like I have an intermediate understanding for snapshots. However, it seems when I go to create a new preset that the same snapshots appear in the new preset and I can't change them, that is, their names, their settings, the blocks they include/exclude, etc., or create new snapshots without changing the snapshots in the original preset. It's difficult for me to believe that Helix only allows a total of 8 snapshots globally. There must be a way to have separate snapshots per presets. What am I doing wrong or not understanding?
  6. hi. im a beatbox artist. so i using helix. and i doin jammin with loops. and sharing stuffs with other artists.. yeah! but i import wrong bundles. and i turn off my HX EDIT before done to import . cause i feels like "oh sh..!" and i reboot my helix. and its everything gone. i didn't back ups.. but i need to using that presets..!! any advices??!???? i need help. thanks :)
  7. So it’s just… HX Stomp, but with more touch footswitches and all the jacks on the back? For $150 more? Yes. …Why? Because customers asked for more switches. Or kept finding clever—but way less elegant or integrated—ways to add more switches. And it was relatively easy. We’re not going to pretend it’s the most innovative product we’ve ever designed but for some customers, it’s the goldilocks form factor. Thanks, but my personal needs require a Variax input, twice the DSP, and six switches, not eight. Why didn’t you give me exactly what I want? <exasperated sigh> So it’s like the size of two HX Stomps? If you omit the space required for jacks on the side (even pancake jacks), more like 1-2/3 Stomps. It’s 12.5” wide (vs. HX Stomp’s 7” width). Depth and height are virtually identical. Does it add anything else? Hands-free Pedal Edit mode (tweak presets with your feet), 128 presets vs.126, four snapshots per preset vs. three, and you can access the 6 Switch Looper without needing a MIDI controller. Other than that, it is HX Stomp with 5 extra switches. Does it have the Command Center? Absolutely. In fact, a big reason HX Stomp got the Command Center in 3.0 is because we had already done the work for HX Stomp XL. Wait, what happened to the Volume knob? We moved it to the back panel to save room. It’s spring loaded so you can recess it into the chassis to keep your cables from accidentally turning it. Can I use third-party power supplies? Yes. Any power supply that works with HX Stomp should work fine with HX Stomp XL. Can it load HX Stomp presets? Yep, just drag ‘em in via HX Edit. It can also load Helix, Helix Rack+Control, Helix LT, Helix Native, and HX Effects presets, as long as they contain 8 or fewer blocks on a single DSP path. What are the reset options? Hold these button combinations while powering up the HX Stomp XL: 1. FS ^, C & D: clears all presets/IRs 2. FS ^+C: resets presets and IRs 3. FS C+D: factory restore (globals, presets, IRs) 4. Page >: Update mode. This update mode is helpful if the update is interrupted, and the HX Stomp will not boot properly. You will see a blank screen (no visual feedback on the display). 5. Upper & Lower Knobs: Rebuild presets. Wait for "Will Rebuild Presets..." to appear and let go. Can backup files be exported/imported between HX Stomp and HX Stomp XL? No, the backup file is not compatible across HX Stomp and Stomp XL. If you would like to move your presets, IRs, etc. You would need to manually export the individual files and import them into the other device. You can also connect both devices to HX Edit simultaneously and then drag and drop the files across HX Edit windows. Both versions of HX Stomp or HX Stomp XL should be on the same firmware version for dragging and dropping to function.

    Helix 3.15

Dear forum, It's been six months since the release of 3.10 firmware update and the crowd is starting to show their pitchforks up on the TGP. DI had been really secretive during the last months until two weeks ago... when he started telling us about how L6 staff decided to split the new firmware in two installments because it features intellectual property that will be included in upcoming product releases for the next year. He has also stated that the EVH 5150 III is a top priority but wont't be present in 3.15 (f%#$), and there are some L6 original amp models as well as half a dozen effects are already cooked up. Are you guys ready to start the guessing game? My two cents here... Maestro Brassmaster Distortion pedal (coming a long way from POD X3, only stompbox not recreated for POD HD and HX tech) HX Room Reverb HX Plate Reverb (though the Double Tank and the Plateaux are in that ballpark minus the pitch shifting) Feedbacker (not as powerful as the Freqout but hope to be not as limited as the Boss FB-2) HX Metal Zone (standalone and Keeley Modded) Maybe some modulation (EHX Small Clone Chorus or Boss Flanger BF-2). I'd love a Boss Phaser Ph1-r but the EHX Small Stone was added in 2.90 (slim and none chance to get it). Hope not more fuzzboxes. We're gonna OD and die from them (not as in "overdrive"). The amps really is a mystery... with the 5150 III already down... maybe a Bogner XTC, a 90s solid state Randall, a Mark II C+, or a VHT... Hope that the Line 6 Albatross once hinted by DI is on its way (though the name s@cks... Line 6 Psychopath, Preposterous or Ludicrous sound better). It's supposed to be an HX version of the untimely loved/infamous POD X3 Insane mode... According to the POD X3 red booklet is something like a Dual Recto preamp feeding the Soldano poweramp... How can you metalheads say no?? I liked using it in... 2009. Blues lawyers are waiting for the Dumble ODS-100... seems the Litigator model didn't suit their thirst for a U$S 50,000 amp tone. Whaddya guys think? Don't wanna leave without saying how great the Helix has become with each firmware update. All my go-to amps and effects were added im firmware updates (Line 6 Badonk and 2204 Mod, Vintage Digital, Double Tank, Plastichorus, Pebble Phaser) so I'm really grateful. Keep up the excellent work!!!! P.s: Really looking forward to seeing what the future will bring.
  9. I had never tried using Workbench HD via Helix to connect to my Variax and change a model, but trying now failed to connect to the Variax. Doing so directly with the USB dongle worked and I got the job done. Curious though whether I have a lingering problem because doing this via Helix should work since Helix version 2.20 or so. Is there anything special I need to setup / configure on Helix to enable Workbench HD -> Helix -> JTV communication? I am running with the latest MAC OS, Helix, Workbench HD, and JTV FW versions and are directly connected from USB-C to Helix with a USB printer cable (the latter worked with the USB dongle)

  11. All right guys, There are a couple of pictures and diagrams floating around that show the Helix connected via MIDI to a keyboard. Just because I'm the kind of guy who has to test the limits of things, could you actually fudge a working keyboard/synth sound with the Helix? Obviously you'd be able to use the keyboard to have a bunch of MIDI presets on recall real quickly (one per key on the keyboard), which is helpful. But how far down that rabbit hole could you go? Could I lean over mid-set and whip out some mad synth lines? Because, at least the way I see things, any chance I have to not travel with a keys player is a chance worth taking :P
  12. Does anyone know if it is possible to bend the pitch of individual strings up or down on the Variax by use of the Helix expression pedal or using a momentary switch? Similar to another product by another company. Bending the string controlled with expression pedal as if using a finger to bend the string.
  13. So I had my Helix dialed in via snapshot banks and I have 1 bank of 8 snapshots for each song. I had my distortions and cleans and mixes per snapshots dialed in where I wanted it. Then randomly after not playing the unit for a week or two, I turned it on and ran into a terrible issue. All of my distortions were quieter and sounded terrible and my volume level per snapshot were all over the place. I cannot understand how this could happen. I backed it up and upgraded the firmware and still no fix. Again, things were dialed in and all of the sudden they weren't. They are still at the parameters I set but the volume on clean snapshots are louder than snapshots with distortion and the distortion sounds awful too. I can only think of trying to get a new unit and see if that fixes it unless someone has an idea? Thank you.

  15. Hello everyone, I own a Pod Go and have been looking for presets to purchase and tweak to my liking. I've purchased many different presets, and really like them but I've also noticed that there are not many people selling presets for the Pod Go. Usually they are recreations of one of their Helix/HX patches adapted for the Pod Go. Lately, I've been watching YouTube videos of Helix and HX Stomp users making presets and giving their tips etc. On to my question... The Pod Go Edit software does NOT have the ability to open Helix/HX Stomp preset files, only Pod Go Edit files. Being that I don't have a Helix or HX Stomp is there a way I could purchase Helix/HX presets and view the amp/cab and other pedal settings? This way I can recreate them on the Pod Go. I'm not looking for freebies, but I just need to see the numbers to recreate them on my Pod Go. Is there software that might allow me to view the preset settings of the Helix/HX Stomp files? Thanks in advance for help with an odd request!
  16. The IR's I have posted on this forum and on Dropbox are made from the Amplitube 4, Fruity Loops, and Voxengo Deconvolver, along with my own tweaks to taste. I asked around this forum and the IK Multimedia forum, Sonar forum, and more and no one had experience or direction. After a lot of research and trial and (lots of) error on my own, I finally got some working pieces in place. The simplest way to do it that I found was with Voxengo Deconvolver and Fruity Loops Fruity Convolver (FLC herein). I'm sure there are other more pro ways to do it. http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/amplitube4/ (I highly recommend the Amplitube 4 + Mesa pack for $159) http://www.voxengo.com/product/deconvolver/ http://www.image-line.com/downloads/flstudiodownload.html You can completely create and save IR *.wav files that will import into Helix with the demo versions of FL and Voxengo. But you wont be able to save and reopen the FL session, and you cant do more than 3 conversions at a time with the Voxengo demo. Follow the Fruity Convolver "plug-in sandwich" method for creating an plug-in IR in Making impulse responses from plugin effects , which is based on a reverb plug-in. Except use a 20 sec (20Hz-20kHz) sine sweep signal exported from Voxengo in FLC slot 1 instead of the FLC "clap" impulse (which is good for reverbs). I found that although Helix converts IR's to 16 bit, the 24 bit Voxengo IR sine sweep made a better sounding Cab IR. I couldn't tell a difference between 24 bit and 32 bit. Also, I couldn't tell a difference between Mono and Stereo sine sweep through a cab. https://www.image-line.com/support/FLHelp/html/plugins/Fruity%20Convolver.htm Here's a video too. I attached a few screenshots with some notes. I might make a video if you guys want it. Again, the IR's I made were raw, but I thought they sounded good enough for me. A little EQ matching with a plug-in and a track could refine them a bit more. Someone with more time and software tools might do a bit better than I did. Here is a Dropbox link to my working Amplitube IR's https://www.dropbox....Rd2evJJ0Ca?dl=0 FYI, I have a feature request into IK Multimedia to allow IR export directly from Amplitube for live use. We'll see if that goes anywhere. I'm sure they could sell more Amplitube with something like that. They don't have anything like Line 6 IdeaScale that I could find. This should work with other software modellers too, but I only have Amplitube. I can see this also making a good scratch pad for testing virtual cab and mic configurations before setting up physical cabs and mics for real IR's. Posted Line 6 Helix IR Utility to Idea Scale. http://line6.ideasca...ty/813669-23508 Update 4/6/2016: Clarifying summary steps from another post response. Use Voxengo Deconvolver (VDC) to generate the 20 sec sine sweep impulse *.wav file for an input signal to the DAW plug in (Amplitube) In Fruity Loops, make the Fruity Loops Convolver (FLC)-Amplitube-Fruity Loops Convolver plug in sandwich Turn of the 1st and 3rd slot FLC's and tweak an Amplitube Cab and Mic to taste to a Helix amp Turn on the 1st FLC slot and import and play the Voxengo sine sweep through Amplitube and adjust the Amplitube inputs and outputs below clip (red). Turn on the 3rd FLC slot (all 3 are on now) and record the output (response) of the 1st FLC through Amplitube 2nd slot. In the 3rd FLC slot, add a little silence to the end of the recorded response as for some reason it is slightly shorter than 20 sec. In the 3rd FLC slot, export the response as a *.wav In VDC, load the original VDC-generated 20 sec sine sweep *.wav file and the FLC exported response *.wav file, In VDC, set the magic settings in the pic above (experiment to taste), and click Process In Helix App, drag your new IR it into one of the Impulses slot, put it on a preset, and enjoy. To maybe alleviate any concerns about pirating Amplitube, all new IRs I post will be exported from Helix impulse library after they have been processed by Helix import. This adds another layer of processing that makes them a little further from the Amplitube originals, but the same to Helix users. Recall that Helix converts IRs to 16 bit on import. I also think there may be some other processing by Helix as the 9kb 16bit Helix-exported IRs sound different in a DAW than the pre-import 24 bit 50-150kb IRs I get with the process I use. Update 4/7/2016 I have added equivalent Power Amp + Cab IR's on Dropbox. These have a lot thicker sound and I believe have captured more of the tube power amp + cab interaction and vibe. These can be use with Helix preamp blocks as well as amp blocks. Using them with preamp blocks will allow you to split the signal after the preamp for virtual effects loop or to send preamp signal to your real tube power amp or amp effects return, the run the Amp +Cab IR to the Helix XLR for front of house sound. Mesa Recto Pwr Amp +Cab Marshall 70 80 Pwr Amp + Cab Fender Twin 212 Pwr Amp + Cab Fender Deluxe 410 Pwr Amp + Cab Mesa Mark III V30 412 Pwr Amp + Cab New! These IR's should give you completely different sounds than available from within Helix or from any cab IR company (Ownhamer or Redwirez). Update 4/8/2016 I have archived all previous trial IR's and files and did some housekeeping. The old stuff should still be there in the !Archive folder if there is something you think you need. All files are now at the IR folder level with a naming convention to organize them. There is generally one cab IR and one (power) Amp + Cab for each amp/cab type. I have refreshed previous cab IR's and new amp + cab IR's with updated naming so that the name in Helix is the same as the file name. It was a file title issue. New tested workflows below!!! These IR's work great with outboard physical gear and Helix as the IR processor, signal router, and controller, including preamps, amps effects sends, and amps though reactive loads. Feel free to experiment as always, but the the physical components do seem to work intuitively as you would traditionally route them in the real world. preamps sound good through Amp + Cab IR's and the amp effects sends, slaves, & reactive load outs sound good through the Cab IR's Things I have tested that work well: Helix preamps & amps (of course!) Mesa Triaxis preamp Marshall JMP-1 preamp Mesa V Twin pedal preamp Mesa Stiletto Duece II (effects send & reactive load) Mesa Mark V (effects send, slave out, & reactive load)
  17. May be old news to some.. But with the ever growing list of guitar and bass amps.. thought this may be useful for someone. http://dshowmusic.com/line-6-helix-amp-models/
  18. Hey guys, Today I have a “Dimebag” Darrel / Pantera inspired guitar tone. I threw together some fun Pantera riffs to demo the tone. It’s more of a hybrid of Dime’s tone as it evolved through Reinventing the Steel. This was a lot of fun. I used Ownhammer impulses on this one. Their stuff is the best. I used a blend of: OH 412 ENG V30 421-FRED OH 412 ENG V30 421-EDGE FRED for cutting through and the EDGE for the chunk and low end. I used the LINE 6 Fatality model. CHAIN: PRS Tremonti SE loaded with Fishman Fluence Moderns Line 6 Helix Rack using the Line 6 Fatality amp model and Ownhammer Impulses Into the Universal Audio Apollo Twin which feeds Persons Studio One 3 Drums are Toontrack Superior Drummer 3
  19. I have been trying to find a way to record an unprocessed signal and a processed signal from my Helix LT. Originally I tried an ABY box with a. ground lift. The clean channel seemed normal but it created a hum in the processed channel along with the processed signal. If I unplugged the second cable from the ABY box there was no hum. So then I tried skipping the ABY box and using a send as the first block in the chain. It seemed to record a perfectly clean tone in Logic Pro X. But when I tried putting any virtual amp on the unprocessed recorded track it had the same hum as the processed track running out from the Helix LT. I could understand the ABY box having noise issues but I can’t for the life of me understand why the unprocessed send would have a hum.
  20. This is about the 3.1db boost when that gets added to the mixer(?)block when you pull a block down to make a parallel path. I remember this was a discussion some time ago and that this was a new feature added in the later 2.? versions. I'm not sure I understand when it gets done (the 3.1db boost). I had a patch where on path 1 I pulled the delay down to a parallel path and the 3.1 boost was added. On the same patch, I did the same on path 2, but the 3.1 boost was not added. However on other patched, the boost was added each time. I would like to understand why this is done. The boost is causing my patches to get louder which makes them not level. This is not a big deal, but I usually set it back to 0. So I would love to hear what you guys have to say about this. Do you keep the boost or do you turn it back to 0.... Sorry, I am sure I am not using the correct terminology. The boost is at the end of the parallel path (when it merges back to the main path), not the beginning.
  21. Is there a way to see what the input impedance is? I mine set to auto, so it will get whatever the first block impedance is set to... I used to have an LA Comp as the first block, I am turning that off or deleting it in some patches and I would like to know how the impedance gets changed. I saw a list sometime ago that had the impedance for all the blocks(amps, effects, etc) and I guess I could use that if I could find it, however it seems like that would be something you could see. TIA
  22. I recently purchased a helix floor. And I got the latest version. I plugged in my guitar and connected the 1/4 out to my audio interface. When I turn the output knob all the way up, the sound is a little tinny, and when I look at the volume meter that shows the output at the end of the helix effect patch, it only goes to about halfway up. The gt-1000 I've been using has a function to adjust the input level, does this one?

    Helix Floor or LT

Hello, After testing a Helix LT for a week, I know that this is the device I need (compared to the Boss, which I also tested). Now the question is: LT or Floor? The LT is clearly not bad but the build quality of the Floor seems to be better as well as the expression pedal. The screen strip above the footswitches also seems to be good (although I couldn't test it) and more intuitive than referring to the screen to know which snapshot corresponds to which footswitch. After that, I'm not sure I need so many effects loops and I might use the mic input (but for recording purposes)... To sum up: Floor: build quality, expression pedal and screen strip and possibilities for mic input LT : less expensive... Your opinion ?
  24. Hello everyone. I would like to suggest a new feature to the developers of Helix, but I don't know where to start. Any recommendations?
  25. I just purchased a Helix Rack, arriving some time next week. My original guitar rig was a Line 6 DT25 and Pod HD500X. I still have the DT25, which has been taking up space in storage since I sold the HD 500 and bought an Orange Rocker 32 2x10 combo (stereo amp). I got the Helix as a replacement for my pedal board. But looking at pictures of the back of the unit, I am really wondering whether it isn't time to dust off the DT25. Here is my main question: is it possible to set up a stereo configuration on the Orange Rocker using a four-cable method, and then add the DT25 using the XLR cable? I am not especially technical, and of course I do not even have the Helix yet. Has anyone provided instructions on how to do this? Is it possible to change the preamps on the DT25 using the XLR cable (the way the Pod HD500 could) using the Helix? A few years ago, I heard you could not, but recently heard rumors that a Helix update now makes that possible. My ultimate goal is to set up the Orange Rocker and the DT25 to create a three speaker stereo wet/dry/wet effect. I have never done anything like this, and would describe my technical ability as slightly above beginner. Thanks for all your help in advance.
