  1. Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone can help me ... So live, I currently automate snapshot settings using CC#69 (I believe) using the laptop in Cubase. I was just wondering is there any way to also change presets / banks using midi messages? Can't seen to find a clear answer searching google and the forums. My plan was to have my helix set out like a setlist so each preset would be named after a song then each song would have it's own sounds and fx etc. But I need it all to be fully automated with the laptop as we play to a click with iems etc. TIA Mike \m/

Hi, I am developing an app to control my HX Stomp on my tablet (android) There's any documentation regarding the protocol used by hx edit to for example: download/restore a backup/setlist upload an ir file get the parameters and informations? Is any of this accessible via midi? (maybe with a syshex message?) In another thread a Line6 developer was talking about the fbv protocol... If anyone wants to help also... Cheers, Nick
  3. The new cab upgrades are really great and they start to make to sound the Helix IMHO really realistic. The new reverbs are nice. But me as someone who picky in the beauty of sounds, especially regarding the 3D dimension (sometimes I think I would not be the worst tone engineer) I miss somehow a lot of abilities of the reverbs in the Helix. I know, if you want to make something better, you should start with eliminating the mistakes or telling, what should be better. One HUGE mistake of nearly all reverbs from the Helix is, that they DON'T mute/damp frequencies in a natural way. It challenges me all the time when I try to make a preset with a realistic sounding dimension (ambient, room, hall). You can take a look at how I struggled in the uploaded Helix presets "No ACDC:crunch!" and "No Ston: Crunch2". It would be possible make a downsize compatible discrete parameter like "damping profile". Just to give you inspirations for this: low frequency waves are having much more energy at same felt loudness. They are the way harder to damp. The damping could have a hull curve, simulating different room situations. Tiles will have a different curve than wood and a room with a lot of high or mid frequency traps would sound different like a Club, where maybe at least some lost of bassy waves come at last back as low mids. It would be really nice, if the damping in the reverbs would work somehow realistic, because IMHO it doesn't. The other thing is: The existing reverbs sound nice in stereo. Not so very nice anymore in mono. I really wish all reverbs would have a Spread parameter (to reduce the stereo width). I do not want to ask for to much, but only to let you know: after the ability of determining the spread of the reverb it would be great, if someday the panorama position of the reverb spread center could be controlled. It would lead IMHO to what such modern DSP-devices should be: Not guitar-to-speaker-mic-simulators, but Guitar-to-master-record-simulators. Imho such DSP devices should be able to simulate up to direct recording.
  4. I've got a little MIDI problem I'm having trouble with... I have a Reaper project set up for the set list of my band. In it I have a MIDI track that is routed to my Helix Rack via a USB connection. There are MIDI items for each song. And within each I'm calling a preset via Program Change on the Helix. Then I'm using CC messages to select snapshots in different parts of the song. Most of the time things work fine, but the Helix pulls up the wrong patch in the middle of a song sometimes - like it was sent a bad message and reverts to an earlier one. Or like the MIDI item in Reaper is programmed incorrectly (but I'm 99% sure it's not...). Anyone seen similar issues? Not sure if this is a Reaper or Helix problem, or both...
  5. Hey there, I've just updated my Helix to the 3.50 firmware thinking this would solve my issue, but unfortunately it hasn't. Whenever I use the Helix looper and start recording loops I noticed that everything gets recorded under the playback volume knob and the overdub volume knob is rendered useless. So I loop something and then add a second layer on top of it (overdub), but then I cannot adjust the volume of my second loop separately which I thought I could given that there's a "overdub" volume knob. Is it just my Helix or is the bug generalised? Does anyone know how to solve the issue? I appreciate the help! Jonathan
  6. Here are some recovery steps if the update fails when using HX Edit, or Line 6 Central on your system. Make sure your laptop is connected to power, or be sure to check your USB cable connections. If you're on a desktop system, we recommend connecting to the rear USB ports near the power source. 1) Download and install the latest version of HX Edit BEFORE you run the update. This installation will also include the latest drivers. If you're on a Windows computer, it may be helpful to restart after the installation. https://line6.com/software/ 2) Put your Helix into update mode, by pressing and holding buttons 6 and 12 while you power on the Helix. For the HX Stomp, press and hold down the RIGHT page button while power on the device. (You may get a blank screen that is white, or black - this is normal for the HX Stomp) 3) Use Line 6 Central (NOT HX Edit) to run the latest firmware update again. Make sure only the Line 6 Central is running during the update, close all other recording applications. (If the Helix is in update mode, it should show up on the screen as a device after Line 6 Central is open after you sign-in. If the Helix doesn’t appear, try re-booting the Helix normally, you should also try different USB ports on your Mac or PC).
  7. I would love to be able to select a preset from another setlist... or just go to another setlist by hitting a stomp button. Is there something like that available? I was thinking about trying something in the command center... if I can assign a button to a preset in another setlist, then maybe I can create a preset that has a preset from each setlist... then clicking on that would take me to that setlist. Going to try that tonight. Would love to know if anyone else has done this. Thanks.
  8. Title says it all. How this would not be there in the first place is completely beyond me. To compare the two cabs you're mixing requires endless page-jumping. Pretty bad in HX Edit already, getting abysmally bad on the hardware, especially on a Stomp. Seriously, this is another episode of "how to turn something that'd be absolutely trivial into something pretty convoluted".   9. Does anyone know what sort of tweaking i would need to do and what inductor to use in order to get the chrome custom sound in my v845? i also have a cry baby standard i could use for some part swapping if needed. thanks in advance just in case i miss you.
  10. Some users have reported getting an error message when installing Line 6 product drivers on Windows 10 or 11. The error message will mention that Line 6 drivers are not being recognized or are being blocked after installation. The best workaround for this is to disable Memory Integrity under Windows security settings. You can find this feature under Windows Security > Device Security > Core Isolation details. See this article from Microsoft for further details: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/device-protection-in-windows-security-afa11526-de57-b1c5-599f-3a4c6a61c5e2 This is a known issue to our team, and for now the best option is to disable Memory Integrity as a work-around. We will continue to monitor this issue for our driver releases.
  11. My Helix is my main MIDI controller and my HX Effects is on MIDI channel 1. I'm trying to get the Helix and the HX Effect's snapshots to coordinate. I can set the CC 69 messages to change the HX Effect's snapshots on the Helix's stomp switches that works fine. But if I try to set them to the Instant slots (so they send with the snapshot change), the HX Effects seems to ignore the CC messages. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

    Twin Harmony

    Hey. I'm not a music major and don't read music. I have been playing guitar for 50 some years :). My question is about what settings to use on the Twin Harmony if I want to mimic some of the Allman Bros. harmonies..... not sure if that is possible. For example, Memory of Elizabeth Reed. What settings would you use? Thanks for the help!
  13. So I have my Helix Floor setup in the Snap/Stomp configuration, that is, 4 snapshots on top and 4 pedals on the bottom. Is it possible to change which pedals are displayed depending on what snapshot you're on? For example, on "CLEAN" I would like to see a compressor, a chorus, a reverb, and a delay. But when I switch to the "DISTORTED" snapshot, I'd like to see a drive pedal, a chorus, a phaser, and an octave pedal. Any help is appreciated!!
  14. Hey, Helix floor user with PC112+ and PC212+ stacked, connected using L6link. My presets are setup like a regular pedal board. I have effects, drives, delays, etc tied to stomp buttons in stomp mode and use the snapshot mode to change reverb, delay levels, combine some drives, and turn on or off certain effects (e.g. Rotary, etc.). I am in 10 stomp mode. My main presets are setup the same except with different amps. So each preset can do just about everything I want, clean to dirty to spacey just depending on which guitar or how much dirt I need. I just started playing with the command center. I found that in snapshot mode, I had a clean and dirty snapshots, but sometimes needed a boost for the lead. So in command center, I assign a button for clean and a button for dirty snapshots in the stomp mode. I already had a boost button in stomp mode. This works fine. So, for my question. Is it possible to have one button go between the clean and dirty snapshot. For example, I click it once and it goes to clean. the next time I click it, it goes to dirty snapshot. Is that possible. It seems like you can set it up to go to one snapshot "on press" and then another on "release"... however you have to keep it pressed down to stay in that snapshot. I also think you can make it go to a different preset, so I guess I could clone two presets and have one in clean and one in dirty, but that would jump to a preset and there would be a pause in sound. Another interesting thing I found was I had button 7 set in stomp mode to change the drive and the volume of the amp. I also had a snapshot for button 7. When I used command center to assign snapshot 7 to button 7, it's like it added the snapshot to the button. It showed "multiple (3)" on button 7 scribble strip. I could also press button 7 and switch between the stomp settings (amp values) and the snapshot. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Sorry for the long post, however thanks for your responses!

  16. I've opened a ticket about this but want to hear from any other Windows 11 based DAW users who may have ran into the same issue. The latest Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OS update a couple of days ago caused a hole in security due to Line 6 driver incompatibility on my hardware DAW, a DELL XPS 8940, 11th Gen Intel i9-11900K processor (8-Core, 16M Cache, 3.5GHz to 5.3GHz), with 64GB RAM, running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit. Its a stripped down system optimized for audio production. The OS Memory Integrity switch cannot be toggled to on due to conflicts with these Line 6 drivers. (see screen caps attached) I6Helix_AvsFilter.sys I6HXStomp_AvsFilter.sys (for some reason has 2 instances) I6PodHd2_AvsFilter.sys I have related problem on a Surface Book 2 laptop that I previously used as a DAW and uninstalled all Line 6 software on but it did not successful remove all Line 6 drivers, specifically the I6HXStomp_AvsFilter.sys file which I cannot find to manually remove. I have parsed through Microsoft documents for deleting unruly drivers but the system still thinks the driver is installed.
  17. Hi everyone I have a few questions about the helix and dt25 combo I couldn't find an answer to and I'd really appreciate your input: On the dt25 channels, there are can sims. When using l6link to helix on channel A, does the helix bypass the cab sims on the dt25? Also, if the dt25 can sims do actually work, why do full amp and cab models on the helix sound like an AM radio? Lastly, why does the midi functionality not work when L6 link is connected at the same time? No matter what I have to keep pulling out the link cable when I want to use midi which kind of makes no sense when the dt preset in the helix has midi out controls mapped and a preamp in the path?   18. MIDI Channel switching help! Hey all, I'm trying to program channel switches and effects automation within patches from logic Pro X to the helix. All seems to be working fine other than when I pause playback on Logic. Ideally when playback is paused and the locator is moved in logic no further midi signals should be sent to the helix but it seems that when I pause the playback the last midi signal is re-sent. Set up it pretty much identical to this video and it seems that the user who made this video along with a few people in the comments have had the same issue. https://youtu.be/3ADVKLUcwkk Issue is visible in this video from 8:05 > 8:12: Playback running > Midi switching turns off a block in the setting Playback paused > Block that was just turned off by midi turns on again Is anyone using logic Pro X to trigger midi switching and has a fix or can give some advice to a mid newby?   19. I am interested in learning how snapshots that I did not create are affecting the overall patch. For example, when hitting snapshot one it will increase gain on amp, reduce mix level of chorus, turn off wah pedal, etc.. IS there a way to see this? Kind of like reverse engineering. Thanks!

  21. Hello, I apologize if this has been covered before but I'm struggling with this topic. I have an old 12 button Digital Music Corp Ground Control unit that I previously used with my HD500X and I would like to see if it would be useful for integration into my Helix set up. I would like to be able to use the midi controller as additional foot switches. First thing. I just tried the Ground with my HD500X and it still works like it used to so I'm sure there's no really issue with it or the cable. How ever I think I'm might have stumbled on to my problem. I'm currently Using a 5 pin midi cable because the HD500X midi is only 5 pins. The Ground control midi only has out and it's 7 pin. I noticed this after banging my head for about an hour. The ground control doesn't even change presets on the current setlist of the helix but it does change presets on the HD500x. Could this be because of the 5 pin cable instead of the 8 pin cable. Is it possible they channels aren't assigned correctly? I'm somewhat familiar with the ground control and the set up. I know I can talk to 8 different devices and assign the channels on the ground control. My question is this, Does the helix communicate on only one dedicated channel or can I set both the helix and ground control to say channel 5. Is it possible that ground control is just too old to communicate with the helix? Thanks Bob

The Sennheiser plugs into the mono input of the Stomp, and the Stomp has an output that goes into our power amp. When we rehearsed and played a show with our own setup, everything worked perfectly. But when we played a venue that had their own setup, I had an issue where sound was coming through when I was tuning even though I have it on mute. This didn't happen with our own setup so I was wondering why at the venue the mute was being bypassed. Does anyone have any ideas on what would be causing this and how I can fix it?
  23. Hi, I've been a purely acoustic guitarist for about 20 years now and am now inspired to put together some tasty sonic experiments back in thew world of electric guitar with effects. I'd like to create something of a full sound without requiring other musicians. My style is folky kind of finger style. Think Nick Drake, Damien Rice etc. I love the tones of guitar in Sigur Ros with their elegant reverbs. I'd like to create something that can lean toward that sound but also where the bass can come through separately and not get lost and blended with the higher frequencies and all their reverb. I'm wondering if the best way to do this would be a dual amp setup? From my research it seems this would be possible with any of the helix pedals? So I would imagine running the bass line out with a sharp low-pass filter, relatively clean signal other than that, to one amp. And then the other amp would be available for higher frequencies and an assortment of colourful effects I could put on top. Would this work and is there anything I'm missing? Or would I be better off with a different setup? Are the Helix pedals well-suited to this plan or are they overkill? As an extra bonus question I'm wondering if there is such. thing as a cumulative distortion effect where I could have a relatively clean signal at lower dynamic playing levels, but where distortion gets racked up once I start really strumming hard? Really appreciate any help on this, I've been out of the game a long time!     Helix Help

    Hey all, Bit of a newb here but I have a Helix Floor arriving soon and for the function band I'm in, I'm planning to run straight to the PA but I'd like extra on stage sound for me. Nothing too expensive or flash. I have already bought a power amp (Hartley Benton GPA 100w and 8ohm capability) and would like advice on whether the SubZero C10M or C12M passive FR monitor would be a suitable match? Impedance on these things looks to be 8ohm but output is way more than the 100w of the power amp I have so wanting to make sure this won't cause me an issue other than not being able to push the volume etc. Also, are the inputs on these things capable of connes3via a 1/4 jack?   25. I think that title says it all, but I have some specific ideas on how and why it might currently benefit Line6 to do this. My brother works in a similar hardware/software environment and said it would be super easy. Users just have to be willing to make it worth their while.
