  1. Hi I'm still finding my way in the Helix universe so apologies if this is posted in the wrong place. I'm going to buy Native but I'm also about to buy a new laptop in the next few weeks. So I don't want instal Native on the old one. So I'm wondering how the software delivered. If it's a Zip file presumably I can store elsewhere and install it when I get the new laptop. Or is it perhaps portable between laptops using a registration key? Many thanks
  2. Hi there, let me start of by saying that I absolutely love the Helix: The sounds, the ease of use, the flexibility, the looks! However, at this moment my Macbook pro and Helix don't communicate that well. The App is very unstable and crashes every few seconds/minutes when exporting or importing or doing nothing at all, can't find the Helix, disconnects and gives me messages like: "No symbol lookup table present for models and parameters", and so on. Today I installed the update and the problem persists, no worse no better, but just almost impossible to work with. I have a ticket open on this issue, so I'm expecting it to be solved anytime soon. I opened this topic, to see if anybody has found a practical workaround for this and to learn from other experiences. tnx!
  3. Hey guys, this is the Helix Preset I use live and on all my recordings/videos here in Nashville! Tested in real life situations and tweaked for a long time… I hope you enjoy it! Here’s a video demonstrating the snapshots! Also, you can adjust the delay blend with the expression pedal! There’s a pinned comment with a download link, In case the attachment doesn’t show! Subscribe! Thanks! CANTERI'S COUNTRY TONE.hlx.json
  4. I use an 8-year-old Line6 Helix unit almost 24/7, since it also doubles as a sound card for my computer. Today I found it overheating, smelling like burned PCB/electronics and with the LCD rapidly blinking/glitching. What should I do? Is it safe to turn it on again?
  5. Hey everybody, I'm new here. Recently purchased a shortly preowned but brand new HELIX floor with two years of warranty left. I discovered something which i'd like to know, if anybody else did too. Whenever I use higher gain amps or overall a loud signal chain in the helix, a noticable hum is hearable, when I touch one of the footswitches (especially the PRESET / STOMP switch). However it goes away as soon as I let go of the guitar strings. Tried with multiple guitars (humbucker and sc) didn't change anything. It's not dramatic, but I just wanted to make sure my Unit is ok since it was a big investment for me. Also it didn't change, when i put the footswitches to "press" instead of "touch" via global settings. Therefore i think it doesn't have to do with the capacitive switches but instead the entire grounding scheme of the unit. Should I be worried? Is there something broken? Or is it something you guys have enccountered too? Thanks y'all. IMG_4700 2.mov
  6. Hello, I searched the internet for help on using Helix Edit on Linux. I have no problem running the native Helix plugin under Arch Linux using Yabridge, which works flawlessly. However, I still need to perform firmware updates for my Helix Floor and enjoy the convenience of editing presets using Helix Edit. Since I couldn’t find anything online, I decided to come up with a solution myself. I can confirm that I was successful in running Helix Edit on Linux. Below are the steps to achieve it: 1. Install Wine and Required Dependencies Make sure you have Wine and its required dependencies installed. - sudo pacman -S wine wine-mono wine-gecko winetricks - yay -S wineasio - register the ASIO driver within Wine: wine regsvr32 wineasio.dll 2. Install Line 6 Helix Edit in Wine Download the Helix Edit installer Run the installer using Wine: wine path/to/helixedit_installer.exe Follow the installation prompts. 3. Workaround for USB Connection Using USB Passthrough with VirtualHere (USB Sharing): Since Wine doesn't natively support USB devices like the Line 6 Helix, a solution is to use a USB-over-network tool like VirtualHere, which allows USB devices to be shared with Wine over a virtual connection. Steps for VirtualHere: Installation: - yay -S virtualhere-server-bin - yay -S virtualhere-client Run the VirtualHere USB Server on your Linux machine: sudo ./vhuitarm -b Or use the appropriate version for your machine. Run the VirtualHere Client in Wine: wine path/to/virtualhere_client.exe The USB device (Helix) will now appear in VirtualHere, and you can "attach" it inside Wine (Alternative to VirtualHere) Configuring USB Device Access via usbip: For a more manual solution, you can use USB/IP to share your USB device and try to access it from Wine. Install usbip: sudo pacman -S usbip Load the necessary kernel modules: sudo modprobe vhci-hcd Find the USB device: usbip list -l Bind the USB device (replace <busid> with the correct ID from the previous command): sudo usbip bind -b <busid> The device should now be accessible within Wine.
  7. Kind of a weird bug: If i take a Helix Native created .hlx file that contain Automation settings for bypassing blocks, and expression pedals, and import it into HX Edit, to play with the same preset on my Helix Floor, and then re-export it from HX Edit and back INTO native, all the Automation settings are removed. You can see this in the JSON on the .hlx file as well, it just gets stripped out. I have attached both .hlx files. One is directly after exporting it from native, and one is after exporting it from HX Edit, after importing the first one. Anyone else seeing this? Anyone from Line6 support that might be able to file this issue? I am on Helix Native 3.82 (3.80 compatible) and HX Edit 3.82 Helix Floor 3.80 main_export_from_HXEDIT_post_import_from_native.hlx main_export_from_native.hlx
  8. Hello , I can’t figure out cable connection , something I’m missing and my brain spinning around. Sorry English isn’t my native , I know about some grammar errors . Sometimes at home I just wanna play with my pedals and amp without helix LT, but with regular 4cbm connection helix must be turned on to let signal flow , and disconnecting/ reconnecting it all the time is “no go “ method even with patch bays so I had no option but have it turned on. So I’ve bought true bypass looper switcher from Saturnworks with 3 fx loops to bring helix in and out of chain when I need it. Problem is that I can’t figure out wiring !!! Lets see 1)I have my pedalboard with some pedals Helix can’t emulate or not as good with emulation , and/ or it helps save some dsp 2)I have looper switcher pedal with 3fx loops and in and out jacks 3) I have my amp with fx loop My Goal is -have my pedalboard in the switcher’s loop so I can use my pedals only. Have helix in the switcher’s loop so I can bring it in when i need it or bypass it without even turning it on. I still want to keep my amp connected to helix loop so I can use it as a block in the patch or bypass my amp’s preamp and use models from helix , depends on the mood when helix is on , or just play my pedals straight into amp when helix is off without rewiring everything I did connect my pedals into switcher but I just can’t figure out how to properly connect Helix to have ability to play my pedals without need to turn helix on, and still use my real amp as a block when I play with helix. I also have noise gate that should be connected via 4cbm that makes connection into switcher kinda tricky Please help me to figure out how to do it Maybe someone had the same experience Ps Yes I know I created troubles for myself with complicated wiring but it is what it is
  9. I've had a POD 500 for a few years, I am getting a bit over the UI and some of the tones. I current play it through studio monitors and occasionally headphones or a Vox AC30C2 (with amp and cabs off) I've seen a DT25 head and cab come up for sale at a reasonable price near home. I am contemplating flipping the Vox and getting the DT25 (lower volume and all!). My question is, does this seem like a bad idea and a waste of money in 2025 - -would I be better instead of pairing a POD500 and DT25 to just sell my POD and Vox and go Helix LT with monitors?
  10. Hello , I seem struggle to understand how to run both dry and wet signal from my external pedal ( in the front of helix lt )? I don’t want to place into helix fx loop ( it overcomes and degrades signal ) so I run external pedal in the ftont of helix , but I want to run clean signal and affected by pedal effects at the same time. Running parallel path (2 or b) runs only signal processed by external pedal and no dry signal ( it’s logical ) my goal is path 1 signal with my real pedal path 2 just clean signal how to do it ? please help
  11. Is "The Big Book of Helix Tips and Tricks" at Sweetwater worth it?
  12. The reverbs are great in the Helix, but I would love to get the "cloud burst" reverb that is in the Strymon Big Sky or Cloudburst units.
  13. I have a Helix, and JTV-69 Variax. Recently I noted that I am unable to select "Don't Force" under the options for Variax Model, in the Input parameters for the Helix. If I unplug the Variax, then the "Don't Force" option is available as the most counter-clockwise selection under the "Variax Model" selection knob. However, as soon as the Variax is plugged back in to the Helix, the "Variax Model" on the Helix jumps to the current model on the guitar, and if the selection knob is turned fully counter-clockwise, the "Don't Force" option is no longer there. I'm pretty sure that this is abnormal behavior and that I have been able to not force the Variax model on patches in the past. I've tried reloading firmware on the Variax, and on the Helix (3.8). I've also tried reloading firmware 3.71 on the Helix and so far, no change to the odd behavior. My only workaround so far is to unplug the Variax, select "Don't Force" under the input "Variax Model", and save the patch. The patch will operate properly, in not altering the Variax Model, even though the "Don't Force" option does not show up. The problem then, is if I were to select a Specific Variax Model for a patch, there would be no way to go back to "Don't Force", without unplugging the guitar. I would appreciate anyone with a Helix and Variax confirming that when the Variax is plugged into your Helix, that you still have the "Don't Force" option available to you under the Variax Model options.
  14. I feel like I may have unlocked some new possibilities but I don’t know why I can’t get it to work. I use my volume pedal a lot in playing so when I record guitar it’s easiest to just go XLR out from my Helix Floor into Logic Pro. However then all my effects are baked into the recording. As you know, it’s always better when you can edit amp and effect settings afterward but the way I play doesn’t really allow me to play a dry signal. So I tried something that seemed kinda smart but I can’t get it to work. I created three tracks in Logic. 1. A stereo track of my processed signal. 2. A dry signal with no effects. 3. An external MIDI track that captures the position of my volume pedal as I play. My thinking is that I would be able to copy that MIDI data from the automation window on the piano roll, apply Helix Native to the dry guitar track, and then paste that MIDI data into the volume pedal block in Native. I’ve set my Exp 1 for be MIDI channel 7 and when I record it works. I can see all the little key frames in the automation window of the piano roll for that track. I can then copy that data. However, I can’t find where to paste that data. When I turn the automation on in the track view and try to paste it in the region it just pastes the region from the MIDI track over top of the dry guitar. Also, when I right click and assign CC7 in the volume pedal position in Native, I can’t find that in the drop down menu in the automation section of the track. What am I missing?
  15. I use my Helix combined with my Variax to let me play bass on parts of a song and take a solo in the middle. This has worked well for months, but recently there have been a variety of problems. 1) sometimes the pitch shifting does not work at all: I want to hear bass, but all I hear is normal guitar. I then try disconnecting/reconnecting the Variax, switching to another patch and back, etc. Sometimes that works, sometimes not. All unpredictable. 2) today, the low E string would suddenly shift from an octave down back up to normal tuning, with no obvious precursor (I was not touching the Helix or the guitar knobs). And sometimes on normal patches, a string would suddenly be a bass string. I would appreciate any points to help me troubleshoot this. Given the erratic and unpredictable nature of the failures, it may be challenging. Thanks. Jon
  16. Hello, I have one problem and I don’t know how to solve it . have helix LT which is awesome device and Iam overwhelmed with options and opportunities BUT let me explain you something… okay we are starting : I run hybrid board with helix ,real amp cab and of course my precious real pedals, I use helix both ways :1)I run my real pedalboard into fxloops and use it as block in the patches which is cool , problem is my dirt pedals dont sound that “Alive” through the fxloops, something is off especially with guitar and less off with bass( Im mostly playing bass guitar ) . 2) I use helix into amps fxloop as additional modulation/synths platform or use effects on Helix and just bypassing my real amp and use ampsims from helix . my question is -can I route my signal that way where I can switch between “helix main Center with real pedalboard as block in the patch” and “ helix supporting device / helix effects with sims” just w/ one footclick to put my pedals from helix fxloop into amp and back ? It seems that regular ABY switch won’t help me or am I wrong ? Some of you guys have maybe routing guide how to do it ? Or did it before ? Have something to share ? please ! Thank you
  17. Just got an email about Hx turning 10 years (an offer for some cheesy coasters that will for sure become highly desirable Rock n Roll collectible …) I am huge fan of Helix. Living in small apparemment in NYC, emulation has been a game changing technology for me (amazing sound, happy neighbors and super compact vs. a real 4x12 ). I currently own the HX stomp, my only complain is that I am running out of DSP frequently. I would love to update to the HX rack but it is hard to imagine spending more money in a system that is 10 years old. Does anyone know if the HX hardware currently sold is based out of the same old chips or does line 6 keeps following the CPU trend ? Is there any upcoming announcement from Line 6 on what / when their next line of products will be ?
  18. After playing around with the Helix Floor and Native tuner offsets, I'm uncertain they are working. Does anyone have this issue as well? Maybe there is something that I'm not executing well? Testing Process: 1) set tuner offsets on any string to an extreme amount (ie: -25 cents = you want a particular string to show in tune when it's actually tuned very flat) 2) using any other tuner, tune the string to the standard concert 440 pitch note. Expected Result: * Helix should show the string as very sharp vs. the programmed offset, specifically 25 cents sharp Result that I'm getting: * Helix shows the string as in tune even though the string is very off vs what's programmed in the offset (in this case -25 cents)
  19. Is there a way to convert a BOSS GT-1000 patch to Helix? The Helix saves presets as ".hlx" file extension that you can open in notepad. What file type does BOSS create? and can it be used with the Helix? Or, modified? Attached a hlx file for example. The reason for this question is that I plugged my guitar into a friend's GT-1000 in the studio yesterday to save time and it sounded great!! He said, "you need to get a BOSS", I replied "No, I love my Helix and I could make it sound exactly like that or better." It's a long shot, but I thought I would ask anyway. :) 2204 4x12 EM.hlx
  20. Hello! A couple of months ago, in response to some negative comments online on reverbs available within Helix Floor/LT/Rack/Native, I challenged myself to make a YouTube video on how I approach recreating high-end reverbs (like Strymon or Eventide). I hope some of you might find it helpful. Let me know if you have any questions and thanks for watching! YouTube Link
  21. Hi I have had the Helix Rack for several years and I have some fairly old presets that I still use. I have never had any issues after upgrading earlier. But recently I noticed after upgrading to 3.80 from 3.71 that my presets with a "Simple delay™ block, the delay was now mixed much louder e.g. the mix between dry and wet ? Have anybody else experienced this?
  22. Anyone besides me think Helix updates with modern amp models seem to make older amp models sound worse? Might be my imagination, I don't know. But I play a lot of cover rock from 60s-80s and I faithfully update my Helix updates as they become available, but it has seemed like my existing patches which use amp models that are older don't sound as good as they used to. By the way, I'm not comparing with the newer amp models, that's just playing the same songs after an update. My approach has been to create a patch per song, and use snapshots within the patch. Sometimes for a new song I just copy another song's patch, and I may or may not tweak it. So, I end up using the same amp models in multiple patches. For example, I know I have used the WhoWatt 100 in quite a few patches. Those all seem to sound not great anymore. Also, I've used AMP+CAB models a lot. I had thought I would go back and change those to separate models, but it's a bit of a pain since you have to manually duplicate the amp and speaker settings. Would have been fantastic if they would have had a feature in HX Edit to split up the amp/speaker models for you. Then again, they don't even have a search function within a setlist, which seems to me a very basic need. Anyway, I'm debating no longer doing updates. But I know it will nag me every time I run HX Edit for any reason.
  23. Hello, I have a problem with my Helix Floor: when it’s cold and I turn it on, it doesn’t load all the screens, and some of them glitch (only the screens at switches 1, 2, and 3 work). The problem goes away when the device warms up (after about 5-10 minutes), and then it starts up normally. I’ve done a factory reset and installed the latest software. I’ve also checked the interior, and at first glance, nothing seems wrong. The power supply output voltages are 11.93-11.96V. If anyone has any idea what could be wrong, I’d appreciate the help. Thanks in advance! :)
  24. EN Hello, I recently bought a Line6 Helix LT, which I connect to my computer using the provided USB cable. I’m using Reaper to record and play sound through my speakers. However, I’ve encountered two issues: Even with the buffer size set to 16 and the sample rate at 96 kHz, I’m experiencing slight latency. I’m struggling to get a clean sound through my speakers, even with presets downloaded from the marketplace. Do you have any advice or solutions to fix these problems? Thank you in advance for your help!
  25. Using MIDI commands, after loading/selecting new preset and changing it, loading same preset again does not reloads effect rather keeping it with the last change. How can I reload the preset again?
