The IR's I have posted on this forum and on Dropbox are made from the Amplitube 4, Fruity Loops, and Voxengo Deconvolver, along with my own tweaks to taste. I asked around this forum and the IK Multimedia forum, Sonar forum, and more and no one had experience or direction. After a lot of research and trial and (lots of) error on my own, I finally got some working pieces in place. The simplest way to do it that I found was with Voxengo Deconvolver and Fruity Loops Fruity Convolver (FLC herein). I'm sure there are other more pro ways to do it. http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/amplitube4/ (I highly recommend the Amplitube 4 + Mesa pack for $159) http://www.voxengo.com/product/deconvolver/ http://www.image-line.com/downloads/flstudiodownload.html You can completely create and save IR *.wav files that will import into Helix with the demo versions of FL and Voxengo. But you wont be able to save and reopen the FL session, and you cant do more than 3 conversions at a time with the Voxengo demo. Follow the Fruity Convolver "plug-in sandwich" method for creating an plug-in IR in Making impulse responses from plugin effects , which is based on a reverb plug-in. Except use a 20 sec (20Hz-20kHz) sine sweep signal exported from Voxengo in FLC slot 1 instead of the FLC "clap" impulse (which is good for reverbs). I found that although Helix converts IR's to 16 bit, the 24 bit Voxengo IR sine sweep made a better sounding Cab IR. I couldn't tell a difference between 24 bit and 32 bit. Also, I couldn't tell a difference between Mono and Stereo sine sweep through a cab. https://www.image-line.com/support/FLHelp/html/plugins/Fruity%20Convolver.htm Here's a video too. I attached a few screenshots with some notes. I might make a video if you guys want it. Again, the IR's I made were raw, but I thought they sounded good enough for me. A little EQ matching with a plug-in and a track could refine them a bit more. Someone with more time and software tools might do a bit better than I did. Here is a Dropbox link to my working Amplitube IR's https://www.dropbox....Rd2evJJ0Ca?dl=0 FYI, I have a feature request into IK Multimedia to allow IR export directly from Amplitube for live use. We'll see if that goes anywhere. I'm sure they could sell more Amplitube with something like that. They don't have anything like Line 6 IdeaScale that I could find. This should work with other software modellers too, but I only have Amplitube. I can see this also making a good scratch pad for testing virtual cab and mic configurations before setting up physical cabs and mics for real IR's. Posted Line 6 Helix IR Utility to Idea Scale. http://line6.ideasca...ty/813669-23508 Update 4/6/2016: Clarifying summary steps from another post response. Use Voxengo Deconvolver (VDC) to generate the 20 sec sine sweep impulse *.wav file for an input signal to the DAW plug in (Amplitube) In Fruity Loops, make the Fruity Loops Convolver (FLC)-Amplitube-Fruity Loops Convolver plug in sandwich Turn of the 1st and 3rd slot FLC's and tweak an Amplitube Cab and Mic to taste to a Helix amp Turn on the 1st FLC slot and import and play the Voxengo sine sweep through Amplitube and adjust the Amplitube inputs and outputs below clip (red). Turn on the 3rd FLC slot (all 3 are on now) and record the output (response) of the 1st FLC through Amplitube 2nd slot. In the 3rd FLC slot, add a little silence to the end of the recorded response as for some reason it is slightly shorter than 20 sec. In the 3rd FLC slot, export the response as a *.wav In VDC, load the original VDC-generated 20 sec sine sweep *.wav file and the FLC exported response *.wav file, In VDC, set the magic settings in the pic above (experiment to taste), and click Process In Helix App, drag your new IR it into one of the Impulses slot, put it on a preset, and enjoy. To maybe alleviate any concerns about pirating Amplitube, all new IRs I post will be exported from Helix impulse library after they have been processed by Helix import. This adds another layer of processing that makes them a little further from the Amplitube originals, but the same to Helix users. Recall that Helix converts IRs to 16 bit on import. I also think there may be some other processing by Helix as the 9kb 16bit Helix-exported IRs sound different in a DAW than the pre-import 24 bit 50-150kb IRs I get with the process I use. Update 4/7/2016 I have added equivalent Power Amp + Cab IR's on Dropbox. These have a lot thicker sound and I believe have captured more of the tube power amp + cab interaction and vibe. These can be use with Helix preamp blocks as well as amp blocks. Using them with preamp blocks will allow you to split the signal after the preamp for virtual effects loop or to send preamp signal to your real tube power amp or amp effects return, the run the Amp +Cab IR to the Helix XLR for front of house sound. Mesa Recto Pwr Amp +Cab Marshall 70 80 Pwr Amp + Cab Fender Twin 212 Pwr Amp + Cab Fender Deluxe 410 Pwr Amp + Cab Mesa Mark III V30 412 Pwr Amp + Cab New! These IR's should give you completely different sounds than available from within Helix or from any cab IR company (Ownhamer or Redwirez). Update 4/8/2016 I have archived all previous trial IR's and files and did some housekeeping. The old stuff should still be there in the !Archive folder if there is something you think you need. All files are now at the IR folder level with a naming convention to organize them. There is generally one cab IR and one (power) Amp + Cab for each amp/cab type. I have refreshed previous cab IR's and new amp + cab IR's with updated naming so that the name in Helix is the same as the file name. It was a file title issue. New tested workflows below!!! These IR's work great with outboard physical gear and Helix as the IR processor, signal router, and controller, including preamps, amps effects sends, and amps though reactive loads. Feel free to experiment as always, but the the physical components do seem to work intuitively as you would traditionally route them in the real world. preamps sound good through Amp + Cab IR's and the amp effects sends, slaves, & reactive load outs sound good through the Cab IR's Things I have tested that work well: Helix preamps & amps (of course!) Mesa Triaxis preamp Marshall JMP-1 preamp Mesa V Twin pedal preamp Mesa Stiletto Duece II (effects send & reactive load) Mesa Mark V (effects send, slave out, & reactive load)

May be old news to some.. But with the ever growing list of guitar and bass amps.. thought this may be useful for someone. http://dshowmusic.com/line-6-helix-amp-models/

Hey guys, Today I have a “Dimebag” Darrel / Pantera inspired guitar tone. I threw together some fun Pantera riffs to demo the tone. It’s more of a hybrid of Dime’s tone as it evolved through Reinventing the Steel. This was a lot of fun. I used Ownhammer impulses on this one. Their stuff is the best. I used a blend of: OH 412 ENG V30 421-FRED OH 412 ENG V30 421-EDGE FRED for cutting through and the EDGE for the chunk and low end. I used the LINE 6 Fatality model. CHAIN: PRS Tremonti SE loaded with Fishman Fluence Moderns Line 6 Helix Rack using the Line 6 Fatality amp model and Ownhammer Impulses Into the Universal Audio Apollo Twin which feeds Persons Studio One 3 Drums are Toontrack Superior Drummer 3

I have been trying to find a way to record an unprocessed signal and a processed signal from my Helix LT. Originally I tried an ABY box with a. ground lift. The clean channel seemed normal but it created a hum in the processed channel along with the processed signal. If I unplugged the second cable from the ABY box there was no hum. So then I tried skipping the ABY box and using a send as the first block in the chain. It seemed to record a perfectly clean tone in Logic Pro X. But when I tried putting any virtual amp on the unprocessed recorded track it had the same hum as the processed track running out from the Helix LT. I could understand the ABY box having noise issues but I can’t for the life of me understand why the unprocessed send would have a hum.

This is about the 3.1db boost when that gets added to the mixer(?)block when you pull a block down to make a parallel path. I remember this was a discussion some time ago and that this was a new feature added in the later 2.? versions. I'm not sure I understand when it gets done (the 3.1db boost). I had a patch where on path 1 I pulled the delay down to a parallel path and the 3.1 boost was added. On the same patch, I did the same on path 2, but the 3.1 boost was not added. However on other patched, the boost was added each time. I would like to understand why this is done. The boost is causing my patches to get louder which makes them not level. This is not a big deal, but I usually set it back to 0. So I would love to hear what you guys have to say about this. Do you keep the boost or do you turn it back to 0.... Sorry, I am sure I am not using the correct terminology. The boost is at the end of the parallel path (when it merges back to the main path), not the beginning.

Is there a way to see what the input impedance is? I mine set to auto, so it will get whatever the first block impedance is set to... I used to have an LA Comp as the first block, I am turning that off or deleting it in some patches and I would like to know how the impedance gets changed. I saw a list sometime ago that had the impedance for all the blocks(amps, effects, etc) and I guess I could use that if I could find it, however it seems like that would be something you could see. TIA

I recently purchased a helix floor. And I got the latest version. I plugged in my guitar and connected the 1/4 out to my audio interface. When I turn the output knob all the way up, the sound is a little tinny, and when I look at the volume meter that shows the output at the end of the helix effect patch, it only goes to about halfway up. The gt-1000 I've been using has a function to adjust the input level, does this one?

Hello, After testing a Helix LT for a week, I know that this is the device I need (compared to the Boss, which I also tested). Now the question is: LT or Floor? The LT is clearly not bad but the build quality of the Floor seems to be better as well as the expression pedal. The screen strip above the footswitches also seems to be good (although I couldn't test it) and more intuitive than referring to the screen to know which snapshot corresponds to which footswitch. After that, I'm not sure I need so many effects loops and I might use the mic input (but for recording purposes)... To sum up: Floor: build quality, expression pedal and screen strip and possibilities for mic input LT : less expensive... Your opinion ?

Hello everyone. I would like to suggest a new feature to the developers of Helix, but I don't know where to start. Any recommendations?

I just purchased a Helix Rack, arriving some time next week. My original guitar rig was a Line 6 DT25 and Pod HD500X. I still have the DT25, which has been taking up space in storage since I sold the HD 500 and bought an Orange Rocker 32 2x10 combo (stereo amp). I got the Helix as a replacement for my pedal board. But looking at pictures of the back of the unit, I am really wondering whether it isn't time to dust off the DT25. Here is my main question: is it possible to set up a stereo configuration on the Orange Rocker using a four-cable method, and then add the DT25 using the XLR cable? I am not especially technical, and of course I do not even have the Helix yet. Has anyone provided instructions on how to do this? Is it possible to change the preamps on the DT25 using the XLR cable (the way the Pod HD500 could) using the Helix? A few years ago, I heard you could not, but recently heard rumors that a Helix update now makes that possible. My ultimate goal is to set up the Orange Rocker and the DT25 to create a three speaker stereo wet/dry/wet effect. I have never done anything like this, and would describe my technical ability as slightly above beginner. Thanks for all your help in advance.

Both of my straps on my Helix backpack have broken at the bottom of the bag. The only things I am carrying in the backpack is the floorboard, the power cable, and 2 instrument cables! Has anyone else had this problem? I would like to think it could hold the weight of the product it was designed for. Please let me know. I took it to a couple local seamsters, but they said they couldn't fix it. Thanks!

Hey all. Just got a helix and still learning it, probably for some time. Got it mainly for church with guitar and found out it has great bass tones as well. I would like to use it live but unsure if it’s capable of doing like my current rig. I’ve searched the manual and forums to no avail. My band goes ampless with in ears. I use a MB 800+ preamp with two xlr outs on it, to the mixer. One is set pre effects to FOH and post effects to in ears. I can adjust all gig long if necessary without affecting FOH. Are the xlr’s out of the helix capable of this? I see no pre/post selectors on the helix itself and find nothing in the settings to do this. Is the helix post only and if I change on the helix it also changes FOH? If so then I’ll stay with my current setup. Thanks.

Okay so I am using my helixfloor in combination with a Mesa Boogie TC-50. It is connected in a 4 cable method with midi to switch amp channels and turn my reverb on and off and some other stuff on the amp. I have the Helix setup in snapshot mode and each snapshot send there own midi parameters to the amp. This is working absolutely amazing for me. This way I can get the most out of my amp without having to use the switch it came with. But now when I upgrade to firmware version 3.11 I get major issues on the midi part. Instant switching of the amp channels does not work anymore there is a hugh delay in midi parameters been sending out from the helix ( I am talking up to 5sec and longer). The helix sends midi signals out faster when there is no sound from the guitar going in to the helix. This is a major issue for me because I need the switching to be instant as soon as I hit the switch I need to be playing. For example when I come from my lead channel and want my clean channel I dont want a distorted amp sound. I tried everything for example after update set everything to factory settings, change midi cc's to avoid known issues in the release note, making sure instant command waiting time is setup properly set up. I tried to rebuild all my patches. But the only fix for now is running on firmware 3.10 If anyone has any ideas it would be really welcome. Because I am afraid that if this issues stays in future firmware updates I can not update anymore

Hello, I recently purchased a Helix Floor and Helix Native license and am just getting started with using them with my MacBook Pro. Although they are both overkill for my playing/recording needs, I was originally in the market for some high-end effects pedals an Apogee GiO guitar interface, so buying a Helix Floor seemed like a better move so I can take advantage of all of the effects in one portable unit (not to mention all of the other features). The Apogee GiO is an older floor-based guitar USB interface for Mac that has programmable effects stomp buttons along with transport control buttons. It's a plug-n-play device for Macs using Logic Pro X, MainStage, and GarageBand. I ultimately chose the Helix Floor and Helix Native so I could do all of that plus take it with me for use with my Marshall combo amp. I have played around with the Helix Floor and the Helix Native plug-in and I love the common interface and ease-of-use. I have watched several YouTube videos on how to create your own macro buttons so I can use the Helix Floor to Record/Stop/Play, etc.;however, most of what I have seen are running older versions of the software, so the menus are somewhat different. My hope is that someone has built a template that I can use similar to what Apogee offers for their GiO product (they offer pre-built, downloadable templates). I understand how the Helix Native plug-in works with the Apple Pro Audio apps; but I need some help setting my my Helix Floor for basic, home recording use. MacBook Pro running High Sierra (10.13.2 Developer Beta) LogicPro X (10.3.2) MainStage 3 (3.3.2) GarageBand (10.2.0) My needs are very basic as I am just playing around at home. I am running the latest builds of the audio apps and appreciate any advice or feedback you can provide. Thank you so much! David

Gracias!

Greeting fellow Helix'ians, :D Sorry if this is a noob question but i'm completely confused :( I have an Engl PowerbaII II, Is it possible to use the Helix as a midi controller for my new cherished amp head or am I eternally doomed to purchase the overpriced z-9 controller from Engl and clutter my work space even more? I would love to use the Helix to control everything, or am I dreaming :( As far as I can tell the PBII has a 1/4 foot switch jack to control the various MIDI functions? Even just changing channels with the Helix would suffice for now. Is this below the answer I'm looking for? http://www.voodoolab.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=640 Apologies again, I get a bit lost when it comes to MIDI connectivity.

Hi everyone! First of all, I am from Argentina, sorry for my english. Here is my problem: I have purchased a Helix Floor the last week. Everything was going OK with the product until I tried to connect the pedal to my desktop PC (Windows 10) using the USB output with the aim of edit my presets easily (its a little bit tedious to do it manually having the possibility to do if from my PC). The problem is I am not able to do anything using my PC because as soon as I connect the USB cable, the OS says "DRIVER IS UNAVAILABLE"... that is, HELIX appears in my SETTINGS as a KEYBOARD but with that legend below (DRIVER IS UNAVAILABLE). Has anyone has the same problem in the past? As far as I know, my Helix has the last Firmware installed (3.11.0), so, thats not the problem as I read in several topics. Thanks a lot to everyone!!! GABRIEL

I'm trying to update my helix floor from 2.8 to firmware 3.11. I have updated HX Edit to the latest version. HX and it notifies me that there is an update for helix. I follow the prompts and it always ends in the following error message: HX Edit Failed to download firmware update file. Please check your Internet connection and try again. Unknown Error code -2004 I'm not having any Internet connection problem including with other line 6 applications. In fact, the emergency is that I have driven a long way to get to a good Internet connection so that I wouldn't have any problem with that… But since there seems to be some problem, Is there a manual workaround if the automatic update procedure is not working for some reason? OK, so the emergency is over… I just sat here and did it a couple hundred times until it figured out how to do the download correctly. I also swapped out mechanisms like the USB cable etc. The topic is still important to me though in case I ever run into this again :-) Any answers would be greatly appreciated regarding how to manually do what HX Edit it does automatically for me, but cannot always do for some reason.

Is there a way on the helix floor to make it go back to stomp mode after you change banks when you are in 10 stomp mode. The way it works now is when I am in 10 stomp mode, to change presets, I have to hit "mode" which shows the bank up and down on button 1,7... then hit bank up (or down)... and then select the preset. It then shows the snapshots (and banks) instead of going back to stomp mode. I have to click mode again to get to stomp mode.... I have to hit 4 buttons just to change presets when I am in 10 stomp mode. It works like I want when in 8 stomp mode, but not 10 stomp mode. Is there a way around this? If not, is there a way to swap the mode button 6, with the tap tuner button 12? that would help. thanks.

Hey guys, I'm a huge fan of that good and warm tube amp sounding. I'm a using a Mesa Boogie Triaxis over the past 5 years always with multi FX rack units (PCM 80, Eclipse, G-Major, G-Force, etc.). I have been using the Axe Fx Ultra over the last two months and I decided to give Helix a go. I know it's a amp modeler and its made so we don't have to use anything else... BUT, I'd appreciate if a current owner could share an opinion on how can I wire these two units together. Many thanks!

Hello All, I'm new to Helix and I've spent a little time playing with the Helix (with firmware 3.11) as a USB audio interface attached to my Mac M1 mini (running macOS Big Sur 11.4). All is well when I stick to a sample rate of 48000kHz but I would like to able to change the sample rate, so I tried to install the Line 6 Helix Driver (1.1.0.) for Mac, which says it should allow sample rates of 44.1kHz, and 96kHz. However, although the driver seems to install ok (the .kext file appears in the /LIbrary/Extensions folder), the Helix Audio device does not allow me to change the sample rate. Has anyone else encountered this problem and has found a way around it? Maybe I'm best to just record from the analog outs to my Mac via my existing interface. Thanks for any help, Dave
