    Hey everyone, just bought myself a POD HD PRO today and have been looking to make my own in flames tone. I am unfamiliar with the different amp names in POD HD Pro EDIT.   2. I had a IMac, digidesign protools mbox, and KB37 with toneport gearbox for several years now. My IMac crashed, lost all my songs, and info is un-retrievable. So.. I bought a Presonus audio box with studio one and a new PC with windows7 32 bit I want to continue using my KB37 but it's several years old, it has the old version of gearbox before pod farm came out. Is there anyway to get this thing compatible with windows 7 and upgrade to podfarm? I loved the sound I got with the toneport and how easy it was to get a nice sound. I'm pretty tec dumb so any help would be greatly appreciated. So in short, I have an old KB37 circa 2008 or 2009, I would love to update to work with studio one on windows 7. Or am I out of luck? Thank you for any responses

  4. I'm still getting the hang of my IV 150 and haven't found any help elsewhere so hopefully y'all have some experience with this. I've noticed that when playing softly or when two notes are ringing out (maybe during a bend) the volume cuts in and out very subtly, like a tremolo almost. This mostly happens with the high gain models and I'm pretty sure it's happening because the strings volume kind of fades in and put while being held. I think half of the 'signal' is getting caught by the noise gate. I was wondering if anyone has a favorite setting they like for NR, Gate or Gate+NR? Or do you recommend using it at all? I've read some people just turn it off altogether.
  5. Im rewriting this post because im still having problems with my tone. I've gone through all the suggestions and nothings changed. The outputs is Studio/Direct and im using a low gain yet im still getting horrible fuzz over the top, ruining any clarity that was there.   6. This is my first time on any forum so i have no idea what im doing so dont be patronising... I have the Pod HD Pro in my studio but it sounds terrible? I can make a nice tone that im happy with but it has a horrible fuzz, clipping/distorted sound on top of it, which is completely ruining the tone! Imagine listen to a song that would sound great as WAV or 320kbs... but is coming out sounding like 128kbs. (that horrid, weak quailty) The tone has lost all depth and clarity and its really starting to annoy me as my band are mid way through recording our EP but the more we focus on the guitar the more the bad quality stands out! Nothing is actually clipping though, like the gain on the amp is pretty low, low master volume, its not clipping in the compressor or the DAW? Seriously need help to find out whats wrong. Its been like this since i got it and im losing faith in line 6. If anyone has experienced this and overcome it please tell me how? x
  7. So yesterday I updated line6 monkey, and now it won't find my Pod X3. ESN unkown... Here's the error Error: (Code 80007103) Failed read to firmware. My license manager is now unauthorized with an error of 80000002 or something. I've tried turning things on and off, plugging them in and out to different usb ports and so on. Also, when I am running Logic or any other of my DAWS and I open line 6 monkey, it now will crash whatever DAW I have open. What is going on?!
  8. Hello ya'll, I recently purchased a POD Pro on ebay and when it arrived it wouldn't power on(it still hasn't). The seller is a store with 100% positive feedback on ebay, so when they described the POD as "working perfectly" I believe them. I know for a fact that it had a rough journey here because the box was pretty darn bruised and beaten. Can any one of you tell me what might be wrong with it?
  9. Hi, I need some advice to match my Spider III 4x12 cab with a Krank Rev Jr Pro. The spider cab has two 8ohms inputs running in stereo and the left side input running 4 ohms in mono, my amp has a 16/8 ohms switch, i would like to know if it will be rigth to connect my amp with the swiitch in 8 ohms, to the right side of the spider cab, will this deactivated the left side of the spider cab, letting me use the 8 ohms side of the cab? thanks for your help!

My brother's birthday is coming and I really want to surprise him, but I'm not sure whether to get him the M13 or the Pod HD500X, I need to confess that I never tried either of those two He has a really bad 80's amp and a mixing console where keyboards and vocals go to the PA Which one is better and why? He is an FX experimental guitaris t, knowing that which one is better for him? I'm a complete noob when it comes to digital proccesors and I just want him to have the best Thats why I need your help Thanks in advance. :)
  11. For the longest time I have had huge problems with my Pod HD 500. I am constantly hearing excess and un-needed noise whenever I am playing on a clean patch (and I can only assume it is happening on distorted patches although you can't hear it). No matter what amp model I'm using, the noise is persistent. I always thought maybe the pickups on my guitar are too hot, but as a raise or lower the pickups, the problem still occurs, even if I enable the PAD switch. I do not believe the pod is clipping for I have the volume knob at about 60% and the mixer volumes (VOLUME A & VOLUME B) set at -5 db. I have all the latest updates and I honestly do not know what to do. I have recorded an example the sounds I am hearing so it can give a clearer indication of what I mean. I will post the link. I recorded a direct signal with a clean patch from the Pod to my interface.Then I recorded the same riff, but with everything on the signal chain disabled. Lastly I recorded my guitar directly into my interface. When it is the completely dry signal from my guitar, i do not hear any additional noise so I can only assume its my Pod. Please help.   12. I would like help regarding an issue with my setup. I bought a Pod UX2 because I thought it was a great investment. I love the guitar recordings I can get out of pod farm and even bought metal shop because I love it so much. Ive become more professional lately and have wanted to get a better mic, which is where my issue is. I would like to get a Shure SM7B mic, however it requires more gain (I believe around 55 or 60 from what ive heard). and the UX2 doesn't appear to have that much. I think the ux2 has 20 and then 25 more with the phantom power? I might be wrong, id love someone to correct me on this. anyway my questions are. 1. Is there a way to get a shure sm7b mic to get preamped enough to record solid vocals with the ux2? 2. If I cant get the gain. I will need a new interface. But I would still like to use pod farm. can I buy a licence so I can use my pod farm and metal shop? or do I really have to buy them all over again. I would love help on this as I very much love line 6 products. but I need the required gain to record more than just guitar. Thanks!
  13. Hey there I've had my SV mkii 212 for about 3 months now. I bought it used in great condition, And ive noticed that its not as loud as it use to be. Its time to change tubes I Want To Hear Your Opinion before i make it up my mind Im thinking of getting a pair of Winged SED 6l6GC and a pair of Tung Sol 12ax7 Should i Get the Stock Tubes or should i get these high end Tubes? I know its going to change my tone a bit. Has anyone tried this? What were your results? What tubes did you put in your sv mkii? Thank you for your time
  14. So I tried registering my POD HD500 today for the first time because I bought a new DT25. When I did, I got this error msg ESN could not be verified. Please confirm the supplied USN. ( Error: 523)" So I called line 6 and they told me that the chip inside the pedal board was never logged with Line 6 so the serial is no good. They asked me if I could return the pedal board. Guitar Center only accepts returns up to 30 days. I have had this pedal for over 2 months now. Then the support guy said my best bet was to sell it on craigslist. You've got to be kidding me? This is your ERROR Line 6!!!! NOT MINE!!! So now I cant update my POD HD500. Which by the way, this is my second POD HD500. I also own a KB37. UX2 POD farm 1 & 2, FX JUNKIE, Metal Shop, POD XT live (2 of them), Variax 600 (2 of them) a Variax 500, Pod X-3 Live, a DT25 Head, and now a POD HD500 I cannot update. Of all the products I own by Line 6 this is how I am treated??? This is BS! Someone needs to fix this!!!! Feel free to contact me in any way Line 6. Fix your mistake! I love my line 6 products please don't lollipop on me!
  15. Dears, I have tried in the shop in HKG the HD PRO and it's the last piece available. I'm an happy user of the HD400 and I would like to ask a few questions before making the purchase. I'm in a hurry because if they sell the last one I need to wait 3 months....and I can't. I'm looking to a solution to have a quick way for dry and wet rec. these are the questions or better saying what I want to try to do: 1) first I need to say I'm using a MacBook Pro with Logicpro. 2) I would like to record in the same time using USB two separate tracks one with dry guitar sound and the other with wet (effected sound) 3) once the recording is done I would like to being able to keep changing the wet settings/effect (e.g. Distortion/reverb/delay etc...). I'm doing this now with the effects in the Logicpro effects, but I like only the POD sound via USB and I'd like to confirm if with the POD Hd Pro I can do it real time, e.g. I play the recorded guitar on logic pro (not sure if the wet or the dry track) and adjust the effects manually on the POd HD pro until I finalize the setting and effect I like. 4)some people at the store said its possible also with HD 400 but with some limitation...well which limitations? As you can understand from above question I need something easy and quick, and I need to be sure before purchasing. 5) im not using any Audio/interface, I connect the USB directly to the MacBook Pro do I need any interface to do what I asked above 6) last question, what is the other advantage to pass from Hd400 to HD pro? If this is not the right approach to do it, please feel free to suggest other ideas, ;) Sorry for the long message, I'm using a new account cause the last one apparently can't send anymore message.   16. Help me please. My pod HD300 suddenly became very weird. When i turn it on, after a few minutes it always activate "auto volume" effect, and its happened in every preset whether i turn off FX3 or turn on another FX3 channel (like delay), it will suddenly change into autovolume effect. I've done several things, like reset to factory setting, unplug replug the effect. Thank you
  17. Absorption - The attenuation of sound level that occurs when a sound wave passes through a medium or strikes a surface, which result in the conversion of sound energy into energy such as heat. Acoustics - The science and study of sound, or the effect a given environment has on sound. Amplifier - A device that increases the amplitude of a signal. Attack - The time taken for the compressor or limiter to respond to the transient that has exceeded the threshold and attenuate the gain accordingly. Attenuate - To reduce in amplitude or sound level; make quieter. Bi-Amplified Systems - A loudspeaker system with a crossover and two independent power amplifiers, each handling their own half of the frequency spectrum and feeding a separate speaker system. Balanced Connections - Impedance matched audio connections that use three-conductor connectors such a XLR or TRS connectors. Balanced lines are less susceptible to hum and can carry audio signals over longer distances. Boomy - Listening term, refers to an excessive amount of additional bass response that has a less focused attack. Bus - A mixing console term that refers to a internal pathway used to route audio signals between channels, inputs, and outputs of a mixing console or digital audio workstation. Bright - Listening term, refers to treble sound that has a lot of high frequency response. Clipping - Distortion as a result of the top of a digital waveform being cut off caused by a signal overloading a gain stage of a digital device. Coloration - Listening term. The emphasis or reduction in a characteristic of the original sound. Compression - The process of attenuating the volume of loud sounds and amplifying the volume of quieter sounds to reduce the overall dynamic range of the audio signal. Compression Driver - A mid or high-frequency speaker comprising a small diaphragm and voice coil coupled to a large magnet structure, which is usually then mounted into a horn. Coverage Pattern - The angle of a loudspeakers beamwidth averaged over the high frequency responses enclosed within the specified range of -6dB on a frequency response polar plot. For example using the center of the high-frequency component as the 0 axis, the StageSource L3t can project 25 above and below the 0 axis, and 50 left and right of the 0 axis while maintaining an ideal frequency response and amplitude level. Crossover - DSP controller filter that splits audio signal into separate frequency bands that are routed separately to loudspeaker drivers that are optimized for the specific frequency band. Crossover Frequencies - The specific frequency bandwidths the DSP controlled crossover will split between separated loudspeaker drivers so that each driver can handle portions of the audio range it is optimized for. DC Fault Protection - A type of power amp protection that prevents the loudspeaker from receiving DC current as a result of a power amp failure. Decibel - A unit used to measure the intensity of a sound or the power level of an electrical signal by comparing it with a given level on a logarithmic scale. It is defined as dB = 10 x log(P1/P2), where P1 and P2 are the relative powers of the sound. Direct box - Device used to connect a high-impedance, line level, or unbalanced signal to a low-impedance microphone level balanced input. Commonly used to connect a electric guitar or bass directly to a microphone preamplifier input. Directivity - The angle of coverage for a loudspeaker's projection vertically and horizontally, often expressed on specifications as "Directivity Index" in decibels or as "Directivity Factor" which is represented by Q. These specifications can help you to gauge how directional the loudspeaker is. Directivity Factor (Q) - The mathematical expression of how directive a loudspeaker's output is.This ratio is represented by the Q factor, a measurement of the on axis response compared to the average of the off-axis response over a specified frequency range. A spherical output source with equal output levels at all angles will have a Q factor of 1. Directivity Index (DI) - The average increase in a loudspeaker?s sensitivity as a result of the directivity factor of a loudspeaker's output. Represented by the value of dB, the on-axis level will have a increase in amplitude in relation to the level that would be radiated by a spherical output source of the same power, over the average of frequency range specified. Dynamic Range - The amplitude range between the quietest level and loudest level that a audio device can capture, produce, or reproduce without distortion. Equalizer - An adjustable audio filter that divides an audio signal's frequency response into separated bandwidths, yielding the ability to increase or attenuate the amplitude of each bandwidth individually, in order to control the overall response of the audio signal. Excursion Limiting - Regulatory protection against a loudspeaker's voice coil from being forced to move forward or backward in an amount that exceeds what it is capable of. Feedback - A constant ringing tone caused by the amplified sound of a loudspeaker system being captured by a microphone that is simultaneously being amplified by the same loudspeaker system, this causes the formation of a continuous feedback loop. Free Field - A environment where sound produced can travel in all directions without reflections or exterior interference. This type of environment is used to simulate and measure the response of an audio source in open space. Frequency - The measure of the rate of variations of a repetitive waveform, expressed in cycles per second or Hertz. In audio terms, frequency often refers to a specific tone within a range of a audio signal. Frequency Range - The operational frequency response the loudspeaker reproduced at the specified output power. Frequency Response - The bandwidth of frequencies that an audio device can capture, produce, or reproduce. Frequency response is measured from a low of 20Hz to a high of 20kHz with a +/- dB value indication of the amplitude variation existing across the frequency response when a test tone or sample is played back. Graphic Equalizer - A equalizer that typically has a number of fixed-frequency bands, each with a slider that allows you to boost or cut the designated frequency. Ground loop - A condition occurring when several ground pathways exist between two devices, resulting in hum and increased noise. Half Space - A variation of the free field environment in which the audio source is placed or mounted against a solid barrier or baffle without reflections or exterior interference. Compared to a free field environment response, a half-space environment will yield an increased response in low frequencies by an average of +6dB. Headroom - The difference between the nominal operating level of a audio device and the level at which clipping occurs, usually measured in dB. Highpass Filter - An audio filter that attenuates all frequencies below a user specified cutoff frequency by particular amount of db per octave. Loudspeaker Horn - A horn shaped passive component of a loudspeaker that increases efficiency by improving the directionality and frequency response of the driver it is coupled with. Q: The strings on my Variax Steel string are breaking consistently at the saddle piece. How can this be resolved? A: There may be a "burr in the saddle", meaning that there is an edge cutting into the string and causing it to break. Depending on where the string is breaking you may need to replace the piezo, the saddle piece, or both pieces. Please contact an authorized Service Center for more information. Q: I am getting a high-pitched 'squeal' when I have both the ¼" TRS cable and the Variax cable plugged into my PODxt/X3 or Vetta. How do I eliminate this? A: The high-pitched squeal is indicative of an overload of the power input buffers, as the unit is receiving power from both the TRS and the Variax Digital Cable. You will need to unplug one of the cables to remove the high-pitch noise. Q: What happens if I leave my Variax plugged into an amp while using batteries (not using the power supply)? A: If you leave your Variax plugged into your amp and are not using the power supply you will drain your batteries. A: The problem sounds like it's a battery issue. If the battery's power drops below a current point, even though the batteries may seem good, the guitar will cut in and out. Even if you connect the power A/B box the guitar will still cut in and out. When this occurs, you must disconnect or change the batteries. Q: Where can I get a replacement neck and/or body for my Variax guitar? A: You can order your Variax replacement neck or body from Warmoth Instruments. Q: Can the Model Select knob on the Variax 300/600 be calibrated? A: No, the Model Select knob on the Variax 300/600 cannot be calibrated. If the model knob is "out of sync", try reflashing your instrument. If you are still having problems with the model select knob not selecting the correct model, you will need to have the unit serviced at your local Line 6 service center. Q: How do I calibrate the Model Select knob on the Variax 500/700? A: Here are the instructions on how to calibrate the Model Select knob on the Variax 500/700: *Please make sure that the output from the Variax 500/700 is plugged into an amplifier or monitoring source to hear the audio beeps from the guitar. 1. Unplug RJ45 cable from guitar. 2. Turn off Power (disconnect ¼" TRS cable from guitar). 3. Turn the volume up. 4. Pull model selector knob "up" and away from the guitar body and set it to position Custom 1. 5. Set pickup selector to 4th (neck-middle) position. 6. Set tone knob to middle position. 7. Turn on power (connect "¼" TRS cable to guitar). ONCE INITIALIZED, YOU WILL HAVE APPROX. 13 SECONDS TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE: 8. Turn tone control to min and then max. 9. You will now hear a beep sequence come from the amp or monitor source the Variax is plugged into. (The beeps will NOT come from inside the guitar itself.) 10. Turn model selector from "Custom 1" through all positions up to "Custom 2" this should be timed to approximately 1 second per physical step. (Counting: "one, one thousand", making sure to turn the pot on the one). 11. You will hear a low-high-low beep when completed. 12. Model selector will now be calibrated. 13. Press the Model Select knob back in to the guitar body to the "down" position. If you hear the low-high-low beep prior to completing the entire rotation of the model select knob, unplug the "¼" TRS cable from guitar and start over again until the timing is correct. Q: How do I calibrate the strings on a Variax Bass 700/705? A: To Activate String Calibration Mode: 1.Press down and hold the VOLUME knob, then power up the bass as follows: a.plug in a TRS cable connected to a powered XPS power supply, or b.plug in a VDI cable which is connected to a powered Bass PODxt Live. 2.The LED on the bass will appear to be orange or red (not green - if the LED is green, try again). Release the VOLUME knob after confirming that the light turned on orange/red.*** *** Note: If the light does not light up orange/red, make sure that you are able to press down on the Volume knob like a button. If it does not feel like a button, or if the knob does not travel down enough because it is to close to the pickguard, you should try removing the knob and pressing down on the Volume stem. In String Calibration Mode, all modeling is bypassed and the level of each string can be adjusted individually. To confirm you're in String Calibration Mode, listen to several Models, including a Synth Model; they should all sound the same: direct piezo. Important Note: As per the instructions below, the BLEND knob is used to adjust the volume of each string. The BLEND knob has a center detent, and that detent equals the Factory level volume for each selected string. You should adjust string levels from the center detent as a reference. Boosting levels too much may result in distortion, which is not good. For best results, listen to all strings and determine which ones may be too loud or too soft, then adjust accordingly, leaving the other strings at their detent levels. To Calibrate Individual Strings: (steps 5a & 5b for 5-string only) *After successfully powering up in String Calibration Mode, monitor the Variax Bass in the usual way, with the Volume knob at max, plugged into a bass amp, PODxt Live, etc. 1a.Rotate MODEL SELECT knob to the 1st Model, VinJ, to select the 1st string (G). 1b.Turn BLEND knob up or down to balance the G string level with the other strings. 2a.Rotate MODEL SELECT knob to the 2nd Model, ModJ, to select the 2nd string (D). 2b.Turn BLEND knob up or down to balance the D string level with the other strings. 3a.Rotate MODEL SELECT knob to the 3rd Model, PreBass, to select the 3rd string (A). 3b.Turn BLEND knob up or down to balance the A string level with the other strings. 4a.Rotate MODEL SELECT knob to the 4th Model, Manta, to select the 4th string (E). 4b.Turn BLEND knob up or down to balance the E string level with the other strings. 5a.Rotate MODEL SELECT knob to the 5th Model, Clang, to select the 5th string ( B). 5b.Turn BLEND knob up or down to balance the B string level with the other strings.
