  1. Hey folks! Looking for some help here regarding snapshots as I can't seem to find my specific question in any forums or tutorials... I downloaded a few free presets, and they are great, but were created as individual presets for each tone. (ex. Preset 1 = Clean, Preset 2 = Rhythm, Preset 3 = Lead, etc...) I am wanting to copy those individual Presets, and paste it into one preset utilizing different snapshots, but can't seem to find a way to do this in HX Edit. I currently have my Helix in Snapshot mode, and would like to consolidate these great tones into 1 preset. Is there a quick and easy way? Thank you all for the help.
  2. Hello guys, thanks for accepting me. So I tried to read all the older topics to avoid asking again, hower I did not found what is needed. :( So I got pretty simple setup. Diezel Vh4 Miid cable And HX Effects Currently when I am at the Banks 01A to 01D I have managed to program the Amp channels to switch(via Midi) How can I assign stomp possitions in lets say 01A(bank) to switch Chanels via Midi? *When I am in the Stomp mode. I want to assign 1,4,5,6 to switch the 4 head channels(via the midi) ... This Will leave me with 2 free stomps for 2 effects. That's it enough for me, nothing more. Thanks in advance.
  3. So I'm in my HXEdit, I'm logged into everything I need to be, I've purchased my preset+IR, it's been downloaded and activated but I keep getting the following message whenever I import either the preset or IR. "HX Edit was unable to import this IR because the required license was not found. The following product packs are available for purchase from Helix Marketplace: * 64670" As far as I can tell I'm doing everything I should be but is there something I'm missing? Also I'm using the HelixLT and it's fully updated. And the preset in question is the Bill Kelliher Live Rig+IR pack and is compatible with my gear. Please, let me know if you have any ideas on how to fix this!
  4. Hello line 6 folk I'd like to ask for some help/advice as a new helix LT user for a one-man band setup with in-ears and Frfr cab on stage. I’ve come up with a setup I think might work, but I’d like your advice/suggestions. I would sing and play guitar over home-made backing tracks with a click panned to left and backing-track to right I've seen some good vids on you tube but they either show a setup with the LT with no vocals, or a setup using the full Helix- which I don't have. I want to have backing track, live guitar, vocals and click in-ears, and everything except click for PA. It would be small clubs. The gear would be an IPAD, Helix LT, FRFR cab and a Behringer mixer e.g xenyx 802 Proposed setup for above: IPAD Click track to mixer Backing track (BT) to Helix via R1 (with R1 set at line level) so I can use its global EQ if needs be HELIX LT Path 1A · GTR in --- FX + amp and cab sim --- multi out (¼ out and XLR out) · ¼ out is at line level and sent to mixer line in. · XLR out at line level to FRFR cab. Path 2A · R1 input at start of path receiving backing track from IPAD at line level (hopefully IPAD is loud enough) then sent to mixer at line level from S1. (BT sent to Helix to enable Global EQ to a better extent than mixer EQ. Path 2B · R2 input at start of path as input receiving Vox from mixer at line level (hopefully mixer pre-amp is loud enough) · Add FX to Vox and use S2 to send Vox back to mixer at line level MIXER · Receiving click track from IPAD · Mic plugged in to XLR channel then sending raw Vox to Helix R2(using 1-click method ?), Fx added in Helix then sent back to mixer line-input via Helix S2. · Receiving BT from Helix via Helix’s S1 · Receiving live guitar from Helix ¼ out. · All tracks sent to mixer headphones out for in-ears. · All except click sent to PA via master out FRFR · Receiving guitar + FX + amp + cab sim via XLR out. Does this seem like it would work in practice? Any suggestions for improvements? Thanks very much.
  5. Hey everybody! I just got an HX stomp in my home studio for all my guitar and bass recording needs. I'm wondering if I can somehow setup a patch to have my wet signal go out the left output and to have a dry DI signal out the right output or vice versa? I know I can do that if I use the HX stomp as my interface but I'd rather not do that. I don't care if I'm wasting blocks because I tend to use very minimal patches. Thanks!
  6. Looking for help with this problem please: My Recently purchased Variax Standard Guitar gives a loud unpleasant Squealing screeching noise intermittently with acoustic models. Never happens (so far) with other models. Noise continues until I switch off or unplug Guitar. Wanted to use in a live situation but need this rectified first! I’m Using variax with standard guitar lead straight into an Alesis USB mixer and I have updated firmware and ensured battery is fully charged. Is this a known issue? Any help appreciated please
  7. Boot failure- whammy gets stuck- pedal won’t work until I turn unit off and on- amp switching stops working- i have to actually load up a setting w amp switching and switch it once before it will even work otherwise my amp is stuck on channel B so now it’s part of my boot up process. I use snapshots intricately in my band. a bank for every song- 4 snapshots per song usually sometimes only 3. with these glitches I’m terrified of it happening on stage! its a song stopper for sure! Ive changed firmware, still the same. i get a boot failure 1/10 times if not more turning it on. LINE 6 !!! I want it to work right before I give a crap about additional features! who else has these issues?
  8. Hello. I watched the line 6 video on how to record through a firehawk, but I need more help. Can you please tell he how to setup the recording on a windows 10 pc and which free recording software to download and use (UK). The guitar I'm using is a variax standard.
  9. Please bear with me as I'm pretty novice with this; I'm having issues trying to record the processed sound from my helix. When I first got the unit it worked fine and it was plug and play. I was able to record exactly what I was hearing from my amp. At some point I've managed to change something and I'm not sure what but I no longer get any sound picked up from the helix when recording (it still makes sound through headphones/amp). I'm able to hear and record the dry signal on mono input 7 but every other input is silent on both mono and stereo. I'm using reaper as my DAW and the helix as my interface via USB. I've tried audacity, FL Studio and Pro Tools and they all have the same result. Here are the audio device settings I have in reaper: My helix IO settings are as follows: Guitar Pad: Off Mic In 48v Phantom: Off Mic In Gain: 0db Mic In Low Cut: Off USB in 1/2 Destination: Multi USB in 1/2 trim: 0db 1/4" outputs: Line XLR outputs: Line Send Return 1 - 4: Instrument (Have also tried setting these to line - no difference) Re-amp src USB 7: Guitar re-amp src USB 8: Mic Volume Control Knobs: Multi Headphone monitor: multi Digital output: S/PDIF Digital Out level: 0db Sample rate: 48khz I'm unsure if any other information is required.. Edit: Okay I believe there is something wrong with the patches I have set up. I just switched to a factory preset and it is working. Could somebody tell me what I need to do to this patch to make it record? Edit 2: I changed 1/4" to multi and it's now making noise. I'll leave this here in case anyone else is as dumb as I am.
  10. Hi, I have no audio output on my TonePort UX8. I can not hear my PC. However, the outputs and inputs do not work. What do I need? Is the POD Farm 2 needed?
  11. Hi all, I'm new to this and today; purchased a G75 for use with my bass guitar. Having opened it from the packaging brand new, the receiver doesn't seem to connect or find my TB516 G transmitter. Whenever I try to set it up as it states by creating a new scene, turning the transmitter off and turning it to channel 1 or 2 when prompted, it says 'No TX found' and then goes back to saying NO TX in the bottom right corner. Any suggestions, or am I being stupid? Kind regards, Dan
  12. Okay, another new Helix owner question: I have presets for different songs and, like I'm sure a lot of you are, I'm using this thing only at church. I want to have different presets for different songs, even though I generally use the same sound (amp, drive pedals, etc) simply so that I can have tempos in place for the delays as I can't be bending down to enter stuff in manually every song and don't want to go back to tapping (I'm coming from a TimeLine after all so I'm kinda spoiled). However, there is a VERY noticeable gap in sound between presets. It's quick, sure, but it's still there and blatantly obvious. Anybody have any ways around this? This could very well be a dealbreaker which would really be a shame as I am otherwise loving the heck out of this thing! Thanks, Robbie
  13. Hi folks; First time posting on the forums, and I'm hoping you all can help me out. I just successfully updated to firmware 2.50 for Helix (which is everything I hoped it would be :D ), and I'm trying to use HX Edit. I downloaded it successfully, but when I click on the application icon to open it, it starts to open the black window, then immediately shuts down with the message "HX Edit quit unexpectedly." I've tried deleting and re-downloading with the same result. I opened the app directly from the 'Applications' folder, not from a shortcut. I'm running a Mac with OS X 10.8.5, and haven't had any trouble with Line 6 or Helix software heretofore. This was the first version of 'HX Edit' that I've installed. Prior to this I was using the old 'Helix' app (which I've already deleted). I'm not worried about restoring any preset or IR backups, I just want the app to open and work properly. Any tips or solutions to this problem would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! [Moderators, if there is an existing topic on this issue, feel free to move my post there. This is my first time posting and I don't know how all of this works just yet.]

    Help!

Hi! First of all sorry for my bad english and thanks for reading me! i downloaded the “reaper audio production” program but when i play or when i connect my pod to my pc 500HDX my pc crashes. I really need help, i dont know how to fix this and it really makes me wanna cry!
  15. Hi, I'm just looking to get my trial of Helix Native started, but I can't even get beyond signing into the plugin. I'm running MacOS High Sierra and using Garageband. I've reset my password, changed my username, uninstalled, reinstalled, got an open ticket with Line 6, but I feel like I am getting nowhere with them. I get one troubleshooting tip per email every 3 days. Anyone else come across this issue and manage to solve it? I've found some other posts that weren't very conclusive on the matter. Thanks in advance.
  16. I've read multiple threads about this, and have not found a fix. I'm trying to set my helix up for live performance, but i can not for the life of me eliminate the dry signal. when i turn an amp off in a chain, i still have dry signal coming through. This is the case with all of the patches, factory presets, and ones I try to do myself. I have a feeling it's some global setting I have set wrong. I've attached a pic of a simple routing that i'm using and still receiving dry signal. Thanks, hope to be doing more contributing and less bitching in the future!
  17. Hi, i have a problem with my pod hd500x: when i plugin my pedalboard to the pc for edit the tones and exit in my amplifier, the tones sounds really good, but when i don't plug to the pc the pod all of my tones have a really lollipop sound, with a lot of interference and really high tones that make the tones noisy. I tried all the way a can to solve this problem, but i haven't found a solution. this is a really sad thing beacuse i have my pod for 8 moths and i can't use it live because i can't bring with me my pc. I hope someone can healp me solving that problem.
  18. I just got a used M13 modeler. I love the effects as they are absolutely amazing for worship music. However, I cannot get it working. I tested both cables first and then began my setup. I plugged my amp into its main "input" and into the "output L(mono)" slot on the modeler. I have plugged my guitar into the "input L(mono)" slot. I also did a factory reset and for whatever reason, I can't get any sound to come through. There is a dry noise I can hear but nothing from my guitar. The tuner also isn't picked up on anything but when I turn the modeler off, I am able to play through the amp. I am so new to this type of setup, any feedback on how I might solve this?
  19. Q: How do I perform a Factory Reset ("reflash") on my Variax 300/500/600/700/705? A: See the following link for the reflash procedure: Variax Reflash and Software Update F.A.Q. Q: The strings on my Variax Steel string are breaking consistently at the saddle piece. How can this be resolved? A: There may be a "burr in the saddle", meaning that there is an edge cutting into the string and causing it to break. Depending on where the string is breaking you may need to replace the piezo, the saddle piece, or both pieces. Please contact an authorized Service Center for more information. Q: I am getting a high-pitched 'squeal' when I have both the ¼" TRS cable and the Variax cable plugged into my PODxt/X3 or Vetta. How do I eliminate this? A: The high-pitched squeal is indicative of an overload of the power input buffers, as the unit is receiving power from both the TRS and the Variax Digital Cable. You will need to unplug one of the cables to remove the high-pitch noise. Q: What happens if I leave my Variax plugged into an amp while using batteries (not using the power supply)? A: If you leave your Variax plugged into your amp and are not using the power supply you will drain your batteries. If you remember to turn the volume knob on your Variax all the way down, the guitar will go into a low power 'standby' mode, but the batteries will still be draining (although at a substantially slower rate). Remember to unplug your Variax if you have finished a soundcheck and are heading off to dinner somewhere before your gig. Q: I have a dead string on my 300/500/600/700 (electric or acoustic) guitar - where can I get a replacement piezo? A: Replacement Piezo pickup/bridge saddle pieces can be purchased directly from the Line 6 webstore: Variax Piezo Element Replacements Q: When I first plug it in the sound goes on and off like the power is being turned off and on and I hear a constant click...click...click...through the amp? A: The problem sounds like it's a battery issue. If the battery's power drops below a current point, even though the batteries may seem good, the guitar will cut in and out. Even if you connect the power A/B box the guitar will still cut in and out. When this occurs, you must disconnect or change the batteries. Q: Where can I get a replacement neck and/or body for my Variax guitar? A: You can order your Variax replacement neck or body from Warmoth Instruments. Q: Can the Model Select knob on the Variax 300/600 be calibrated? A: No, the Model Select knob on the Variax 300/600 cannot be calibrated. If the model knob is "out of sync", try reflashing your instrument. If you are still having problems with the model select knob not selecting the correct model, you will need to have the unit serviced at your local Line 6 service center. Q: How do I calibrate the Model Select knob on the Variax 500/700? A: Here are the instructions on how to calibrate the Model Select knob on the Variax 500/700: *Please make sure that the output from the Variax 500/700 is plugged into an amplifier or monitoring source to hear the audio beeps from the guitar. 1. Unplug RJ45 cable from guitar. 2. Turn off Power (disconnect ¼" TRS cable from guitar). 3. Turn the volume up. 4. Pull model selector knob "up" and away from the guitar body and set it to position Custom 1. 5. Set pickup selector to 4th (neck-middle) position. 6. Set tone knob to middle position. 7. Turn on power (connect "¼" TRS cable to guitar). ONCE INITIALIZED, YOU WILL HAVE APPROX. 13 SECONDS TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE: 8. Turn tone control to min and then max. 9. You will now hear a beep sequence come from the amp or monitor source the Variax is plugged into. (The beeps will NOT come from inside the guitar itself.) 10. Turn model selector from "Custom 1" through all positions up to "Custom 2" this should be timed to approximately 1 second per physical step. (Counting: "one, one thousand", making sure to turn the pot on the one). 11. You will hear a low-high-low beep when completed. 12. Model selector will now be calibrated. 13. Press the Model Select knob back in to the guitar body to the "down" position. If you hear the low-high-low beep prior to completing the entire rotation of the model select knob, unplug the "¼" TRS cable from guitar and start over again until the timing is correct. Q: How do I calibrate the strings on a Variax Bass 700/705? A: To Activate String Calibration Mode: 1.Press down and hold the VOLUME knob, then power up the bass as follows: a.plug in a TRS cable connected to a powered XPS power supply, or b.plug in a VDI cable which is connected to a powered Bass PODxt Live. 2.The LED on the bass will appear to be orange or red (not green - if the LED is green, try again). Release the VOLUME knob after confirming that the light turned on orange/red.*** *** Note: If the light does not light up orange/red, make sure that you are able to press down on the Volume knob like a button. If it does not feel like a button, or if the knob does not travel down enough because it is to close to the pickguard, you should try removing the knob and pressing down on the Volume stem. In String Calibration Mode, all modeling is bypassed and the level of each string can be adjusted individually. To confirm you're in String Calibration Mode, listen to several Models, including a Synth Model; they should all sound the same: direct piezo. Important Note: As per the instructions below, the BLEND knob is used to adjust the volume of each string. The BLEND knob has a center detent, and that detent equals the Factory level volume for each selected string. You should adjust string levels from the center detent as a reference. Boosting levels too much may result in distortion, which is not good. For best results, listen to all strings and determine which ones may be too loud or too soft, then adjust accordingly, leaving the other strings at their detent levels. To Calibrate Individual Strings: (steps 5a & 5b for 5-string only) *After successfully powering up in String Calibration Mode, monitor the Variax Bass in the usual way, with the Volume knob at max, plugged into a bass amp, PODxt Live, etc. 1a.Rotate MODEL SELECT knob to the 1st Model, VinJ, to select the 1st string (G). 1b.Turn BLEND knob up or down to balance the G string level with the other strings. 2a.Rotate MODEL SELECT knob to the 2nd Model, ModJ, to select the 2nd string (D). 2b.Turn BLEND knob up or down to balance the D string level with the other strings. 3a.Rotate MODEL SELECT knob to the 3rd Model, PreBass, to select the 3rd string (A). 3b.Turn BLEND knob up or down to balance the A string level with the other strings. 4a.Rotate MODEL SELECT knob to the 4th Model, Manta, to select the 4th string (E). 4b.Turn BLEND knob up or down to balance the E string level with the other strings. 5a.Rotate MODEL SELECT knob to the 5th Model, Clang, to select the 5th string ( B). 5b.Turn BLEND knob up or down to balance the B string level with the other strings. When all strings sound in balance, press down on the MODEL SELECT knob to exit String Calibration Mode. The LED will turn green and your level changes will be saved. * Rotate the MODEL SELECT knob to load a Model and return to normal operation
  20. Hello Everyone, Firstly, before I begin I would like to preface this by saying that if such a resource exists that I am about to propose please by all means link it and have a moderator or admin shut this thread down I would rather be told I haven't looked hard enough than to waste both your own and my time. From my own experience as a Helix user I have realised I have barely scratched the surface of what this device can do and for me going through articles and forum posts can be a bit of a drag while also intimidating. As a result I have been sitting on the idea of creating video based content to help users learn more about how to get the most out of the Helix, but I wanted to ask the community as I am just one person and my opinion is subjective. I know of the likes of Jason Sadites who puts out some amazing content and Helix help that already do a lot to help the community learn so that may already defeat the purpose of what I am asking. To Flesh out the idea: - A video based resource that provides detailed information on a stock helix set up - Deep dives into individual effects, amps and cabs etc. so that option paralysis is reduced and people can understand best what to use in a certain situation e.g. If someone were to ask how do I create a smooth Blues tone for lead and rhythm then there would be a video available that details the blocks that you could use and how certain amps/cab combos will give a different flavour to the general sound and some effects that you can use to further your soundscape. - Making all of this content centralised so that it is readily available to everyone - A view to expanding the content beyond stock Helix e.g using Impulse Responses, which ones work well for what purpose and more I have seen there are quite a few videos out there for the Axe-Fx and when you search that exact term in the likes of Youtube you will get results on generating presets or information on different amps quickly. While searching "Line 6 Helix" will primarily bring up reviews, first impressions, opinion videos, comparisons and you will have to make a more specific search such as "Line 6 Helix blues presets" to find more information on that side of things. I fully appreciate, if you are looking for a tutorial on Blues tone you are probably going to search the more specific version. The ultimate goal is to create a centralised platform/resource that will help people to master the Helix so that they will no longer worry about how to use any of it's features. If it is something people want I would be looking for help from the community to learn more(my selfish intent) and represent the information as best as possible so that it is effective in it's approach and purpose. From University I learned that there are different types of learners and am looking to appeal to the visual learners, those that find it difficult to run through a purely text based information. I merely ask for your feedback and opinions! Again to repeat myself I am happy to be proven wrong and linked to an article/website/forum that already does this! Thank you for your time, Phil
  21. so as a new customer i was wondering if there was a way to download pod farm or gear box instead of using the disk included in the product
  22. If I put it in split it sounds really weird. Even having it in chain colors the tone whether timeline is engaged or not. Does anyone use timeline in an Fx loop with success? helix and timeline are both on latest update
  23. Hi all, Since a month I own the Helix Floor + Powercab 112 plus (and the Relay G10S). A great compact setup! I'm impressed by its versatility, all options and ease of use. Before I had a traditional setup: Custom Audio tube pre-amp, mesa 20/20 power amp, TC G-system, Mesa cabinet. Top class sound, but I was tyred of carrying it around... So I made the big switch to modeling. As said I am very impressed, however I am struggling to get my basic sounds right (for which I'm reaching out for help): clean, crunch, rock and high-gain. I know my traditional tube setup is quite a benchmark, but still hoping to get my sounds close to what I'm used to. I kind of miss that punchy/crispy sound, especially when I play with my (rock) band my sound has no clear definition (missing the 'balls'). I really want my setup to work and don't want to give up as I am convinced about the benefits of the Helix. So I was thinking: - to keep tweaking till it's right (it must be me) - try a tube combo amp instead of the powercab - lower my expectations - get help through this forum :-) I go for the last option as I know there are so many happy and experienced Helix users out there. So, here is my question: did any of you go through the same process with satisfying results in the end? Any tips how to get that great basic authentic sound right (which I appreciate is a vague question)? See my current setup/ settings below. Thanks a lot for sharing any experience/advice! Much appreciated! Main guitar: Fender Strat with single pick ups Powercab: Vintage ( sounds most pleasing to me for the few amps I use from clean to high gain) Clean: Solo Lead Clean (amp only, no cab from Helix) Crunch: clean channel above + Screamer Overdrive: Mandarín 80 (amp only, no cab from Helix) Lead: Placater Dirty (amp only, no cab from Helix) On top of above amps (on which I made minor tweaks to most pleasing sound), I experimented by adding EQs, compressors and effects.
  24. I absolutely love the L6 Helix. It is amazing. I have no regrets about this system at all. However, here is something I reeeeally wish I could do, but I am not sure the Helix can do it. I would pay good money to have it as an option. In the global settings you have to choose whether your device runs all presets, presets/snapshots, snapshots/stomp, all stomp, all snapshots, etc etc etc. However. I wish I could set in the Global settings a combination of as many as I want. For example. I love having lots of snapshots available, but I also like the option of having a boost available when I want it. What if I could have 7 snapshots and 1 stomp which could be a Kinky Boost? That would be amazing! It would also be killer if I could make that choice global, but also have it preset specific. i wish I could have presets that could have any combination of stomps and snapshots. How difficult would this be to add in a future update? It would blow my mind and make this a flawless device (PLUS ADD MORE DSP!). Regardless, I obviously can make-do, but damn. That would be awesome.

    HD500

Just bought an HD500 and I’m in way over my head. I need to be directed to some tutorials for beginners - everything I find on the web assumes basic knowledge that I don’t have. Can someone help?
