  1. Hail, folks! I'm having a bit of a issue here. First things first: I own a POD HD500X, and a ESP Ltd AX-50 (cheap guitar but do the job for my metalworks). So... I used George L's cables for many years. The thing is, I lost my cables. And actually, they aren't that good as many people say. Got to get brand new cables them. Ernie Ball Braided, the weapon of choice. Ok. So here's the problem... In my country there's ONLY 25ft long cables. That's 7 meters. And I need TWO. One connecting the guitar to the HD500X, and other to connect the HD500X to the amp. Two cables, 50ft long. It's just too much. Actually, who needs that!? But, again, it's the only size for sell in my country - welcome to the third world. So what now? I will obliterate my signal!? I am a metal player, but yeah, I do love blues and other stuff... I'm working on some Eric Johnson's song too. The thing is, some people said that IN THIS CASE it just doesn't matter, because I use digital effects, a processor - therefore the only worry to be concerned is the length of the cable between the GUITAR and the POD. 1- That's true!? Anyone with a solid opinion about it!? Also, some guys said that "you play extreme metal, higain and stuff... Don't worry, your tone will be fine. Let the Stratoguys deal with that". Some said "if you put ACTIVE PICKUPS this wouldn't be a problem, because active pickups kick-lollipop". These stuff... 2- Higain is unnefected by 50ft cable length? I mean, at least no one would notice it? 3- Active pickups does break the rules and keep my tone 100%? Hope you guys can help me. And yeah, I do want that specific cable. Thanks by now!
  2. Hi, I'm in doubt of buying Helix Native. I used the trial version for a week now and I love the sounds. I only just can't seem to get rid of a high noise level in hi-gain sounds. I already searched this forum and watched youtube video's for help on this topic. I have made a recording with a comparisation of my Helix Floor board and the Native plug-in. I made sure that the settings in both Native and Helix Floor are the same. In the recording I used the signal: input > Scream 808 > Archetype Lead The recording is made in Cubase, via a Steinberg CI2 with Hi-Z and real low input gain. In Helix Native the input meter stays under -12 dB. In the recording you hear: 0:00 - 0:17 > Helix Native 0:18 - 0:34 > Helix Floor 0:34 - 0:35 > Helix Native background noise without playing 0:36 - 0:37 > Helix Floor background noise without playing I'm might still do something wrong, it doesn't seem normal Helix Native gives so much background noise compared to the Floorboard. I still have 6 days of Trial version left. Hopefully any of you guys can help me with the noise-problem so I get convinced in buying a copy of Native. Test Native vs Helix Floor.mp3
  3. Today, I have to decide whether I return my Line 6 helix or keep it and keep tweaking. I've satisfied with the clean sounds I'm getting out of the helix but am not quite convinced about the hi-gain stuff. Below is a sample of the sound I've been able to get out the helix. What do you think is missing? https://soundcloud.com/baron-toria/helix-tone-test My other consideration would be the Fractal AX8 of course which has the following pros (based on what I've heard/ read online): 1. Better sounds (amps, cabs and effects) - sounds also seem more organic! 2. Regular firmware updates and improvements to (digital) models 3. Better presets But, this would be significantly more expensive for me as I'd have to invest in an expression pedal and an audio interface. The pros I see in favor of the helix are: 1. Works as a USB audio interface 2. Built in expression pedal 3. Dynamic DSP and no limitation on how many instances of a particular block can be used (I believe the AX8 can support only one instance of each effect/ amp block) 4. Routing options (not 100% sure I'd use all these though!) 5. Easier to repair/ service (if the need should arise). 6. Better support than previous Line 6 products, including free updates with new amps etc. What do you guys think? Keep the helix or return it? P.S. Excuse the poor playing...I'm a bit rusty.. :)
  4. Hello all, I've previously had a POD XT Pro & POD X3 Pro and was able to achieve great hi-gain tones within minutes of having those devices. I'm 4 days new to the HD500X. I'm able to get pretty awesome clean tones but cant seem to nail Nu-Metal / Hard Rock tones. All the Hi-gain amps sound muddy to my ears. Can you guys suggest your favorite tones from Customtone of provide me some tips on where to begin? I've tried the factory rock sounds and just doesn't seem to do it for me. These past few days I seem to be doing sooo many tweaks just to create a killer tone instead of having fun playing. = ( Thanks SynSin
