  1. Hi - I Have recently got a HX Effects and cabled it up via the 4CM. I am getting sound but I have a Marshall TSL with 3 channels. When I change the channels on the amp (using a marshall footswitch), the sound doesn't change. Its as its just going through the HX and not reflecting if I change the Amp channel form say clean to crunch. I suspect its something to do do with signal path but not sure where to start. I feel like such a newbie wit this stuff so apologies if dumbarse post. Any obvious errors? Thanks
  2. Going from an M13 to an Hx Effects. I can't figure out how to send patch or program changes through midi to my mini amp gizmo. I can't believe this is missing on this unit.
  3. Hi - I feel like a complete ignoramus as I don't understand half the stuff in here about loops / IR's whatever whatever...) I got my hands on a HX effects with a view to replacing the bulk of my pedal board which was basic enough; guitar > Tuner > wah > boost > OD > compressor > into a marshall TSL 100 input socket > modulation > delay in the TSL FX loop. I want to replicate a similar set up with the HX but cant work out whether I need 4 cm (which is what I have now in the pedal board set up above) or 3 and how to get the mod and delay in the FX loop and the rest in outside the Fx loop. Also if I keep my tuner and boost pedals before the HX... Once I have that sorted, I then need to play around with these effects and how they sound in the 3 amp channels (clean / crunch / lead) in the amp. If anyone else is using the pedal with a Marshall / fx loop it would be great to get some tips on a good simple set up that sounds good as that was the objective. I tried it last night for 2 hours, sounded terrible. I tried with 4Cm - got no sound so did a factory reset with my FX loop on the amp. Tried basic 2 cable in and out and it sounded terrible (big volume changes, just not nice tone ((. I saw all the YouTube videos of them sounding amazing so if anyone can get me up and running - I owe you :) Many thanks Mike
  4. Hi all, Ive been using my HX Effects in conjunction with my Mesa F30 to good effect. However, I am interested in running direct to FOH, and I was wondering if you guys could comment on my proposed setup: Guitar, HX, send to Amp input, amp speaker out to Harley Benton loadbox (I know, im cheap), then line signal to return/HX, using a good IR, then out to FOH through a DI. Perhaps I could use the speaker output of the loadbox to still use the amp speaker if I want to, but this is secondary. This is the loadbox I would buy for this use: https://m.thomann.de/nl/harley_benton_pa_100_power_attenuator.htm It's basically me really liking my amp but not wanting to use microphones anymore and having a loud amplifier on stage. And its me using the fact that the HX Effects does IR. Would this work? Does the specific loadbox that I linked have the required connections? I am not able to spend any more on this.. Hope you guys can advice my on this! Cheers.
  5. Newbie Here. Just got an HX Effects. I have one seemingly really basic question and then another more complicated one... When I create a new preset, I cannot figure out how to turn it off/bypass it? Hitting the foot switch doesn't do anything. That seems odd. The only thing I can do is switch to another preset. And I suppose I could create a preset with no effects on, but that seems like a real waste of a foot switch. What am I missing? And... I want to be able to assign each of the 6 foot switches a preset where each preset uses a combination of effects (not just one effect per switch). For example switch 1 has OD and Phaser, switch 2 has Chorus and Delay, Switch 3 has OD and Delay, etc... And then I'd like to be able to save and recall this selection of 6 tones/footswtiches. I understand how to combine individual effects to create presets But it seems that I can only have 4 presets showing at one time since the other 2 switches are used for bank up and down. Is that correct? (And then I go back up to my original question about turning any of these 4 on and off). I looked into using snapshots and that seems like one way to accomplish this but again, only 4 at time, right? Ultimately, I am trying to accomplish something similar to what the M13 can do in Latch Scene mode where you can have 12 different switches each with a different sound containing 4 effects. Then you can easily switch between any of those 12 tones. Can I do this with 6 foot switches on the HX effects? Thanks!!
  6. Newbie here. I'm not even sure how to describe my issue. I have a preset with multiple effects. I press mode to see the presets. If I press mode again I see some of the same presets (albeit in different stomp positions) and some new ones. What am I looking at? How do I get all my presets on the first 'page'? Why did some appear on my second page even though they are clearly part of my signal flow. So confused. Thank you.
  7. Hi... I'm using HX Effects running into a tube amp. This is probably on a forum somewhere but I couldn't really find it so thanks in advance for your patience. Can someone give me some advice on making a block to get a reasonable facsimile of an acoustic guitar? Sort of a like a Boss AC-3 pedal? It would really be cool if line 6 just added that pedal to the next update... Thanks!
  8. Hello to the whole community. I have a noise problem when change the channel of my amplifier from the hx Effects. My amplifier is a Mesa Boogie Rectoverb 25. When I switch to the high gain channel from the hx effects a very annoying background noise is heard. I tried to reduce it with the noise gates of the hx efeccts but they do nothing. is this normal? thank you
  9. Hey guys and girls! So I have a question regarding the stereo inputs on specifically the HX Effects. Is it possible to run a guitar through the left input, and a bass (or vocals, keyboard, etc...) through the right input, and independently add effects to them on their own paths? Is it also possible to Merge the path B signal into the path A signal? I’ve attached a simple diagram showing what I’m trying (and probably failing) to describe! I believe the HX Stomp is capable of this, but just wanted to know if the HX Effects can do it too. Thanks in advance!
  10. I am currently building an HX effects into a rack for someone. They will be using 4 cable at the amp. For the most part the drive will be coming from the amp but, they were asking if they could have 1 boost in front of the amp that they could click off/on from the front of stage. All that will currently be at the front of stage is a Voodoo Lab Commander. This will only have MIDI to the HX Effects. I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find a switch that can be run to the expression jack that can be assigned to an effect. I've so far tested a regular switch and a hard switch, both TS/TRS and nothing seems to work. I see that Mission has a pedal that has a toe switch (not sure if that's Helix/Stomp only) but, I don't need an expression pedal. Thanks to anyone that can point me in the right direction of a product or the how-to (switch type, cable type, etc.)!
  11. Hello Helix and HX wizards, I am trying to run a Wet/Dry rig with (my two amps and) my HX Effects. The "twist" is that I need an FX loop, with this additional element I can't figure out how to make it work without running into some phase issues... Any help ? :) Thanks !
  12. I can't help but feel Line 6 missed out by not making the HX Stomp the size of the HX Effects and vice versa. The Stomp has amps and cabs with limited blocks. So if you want an amp and cab, you're left with 4 blocks. The Effects has the ability to Use a lot more blocks and load IRs, but no amps and cabs. So you have more switches and fx...but need to provide amps. It seems you'd want the extra blocks and buttons on the item you use as the all in one. The Stomp is being put on pedal boards as an effect pedal when it's supposed to be a baby Helix. I feel like they should make a stop the size of the HX Effects with all the blocks AND THE ROUTING. You can still stick it in a gig bag. If your gig bag won't hold the HX Effects size pedal, you need a better bag. It's not going to kill the sales of the full size Helix. People that want that will buy it. I just sold mine because I'm using the Kemper Stage for main gigs now. But for a small unit to throw in my bag for jams and rehearsals, I got the Stomp, and it sounds great, but it's so limited I'm tempted to sell it and go with an Atomic Amplifire 6. I dunno. I'm just hoping Line 6 considers this. I think the unit would be killer if it were basically an HX Effects with the amps and cabs added to it. Helix Mini, as it were.
  13. I recently updated to 2.8.1 firmware. I did not back up my patches, as I had not created any patches to back up before updating the firmware. Does anyone have a copy of the stock patch that you exported from HX Edit? I still have the stock patches, but none of the names. Thanks! Bill
  14. I think the HX Effects 'Snapshot Mode' "Latch" option in Global Settings is not working correctly. EG: When 'Preset Mode' is set to "Latch", changing Presets keeps you in 'Preset Mode' -GOOD when 'Preset Mode' is set to "Moment", changing Presets pushes you into 'Stomp Mode' -GOOD! when 'Snapshot Mode' is set to "Latch" and 'Preset Mode' is set to "Latch", changing Snapshots keeps you in 'Snapshot Mode' -GREAT! BUT when 'Snapshot Mode' is set to "Latch" and 'Preset Mode' is set to "Moment", changing Snapshots pushes you into 'Stomp Mode' -ERGH! WRONG. BAD MULTI-EFFECTS BAD! :P This is wrong. 'Snapshot' Mode' set to "Latch", should remain in Snapshot Mode, regardless of what 'Preset Mode' is set to. I want the HX Effects to dive into Stomp Mode after I select a Preset, so I set Preset Mode to Moment. But I want Snapshot Mode to remain visible when I'm using them, which I can't do.
  15. Hi, I bought an HX Effects yesterday, absolutely loving the tones and functions. Now I am looking to delve into using MIDI to change the channel on my Blackstar Series One 45; to change from 'Warm Clean' with an Orange LED to 'Super Crunch' with a Red LED, changing between these two on a footswitch press. Any advice please? This is the first time I've ever used MIDI and I'm not fully sure what to do. Thank you all.
  16. Greetings, Looking to duplicate a staple of my sound I have been doing with the Digitech Valve FX units since 1995. Unlike the POD XT CC expression control of Delay ‘level’ (and the DL4) with my older Digitech units I can turn the delay on or of with Control One footboard switch engaging it at a low delay level and use expression pedal to fluidly wash between the lowest setting and a full lush delay. When I rock the exp pedal back to heel position the trails from the toe position finish their cycle and are not CUT OFF. Both the DL4 and the POD XT do not seem to be able to do this at all - so my concern is the ‘Mix’ or ‘Level’ parameters for the delays on the HX FX will be equally dissapointing. They both cut off the trails and level of the high range of the effect pulling back to heel position abruptly in a non musical way. So - basically Im used to having midi CC that works as a ‘send’ - pushing the dry signal into the effect which doesnt cut off trails when pulling back the ‘send’ level. I control delay level & feedback in this way with all the incremental levels I ever need from delay in one CC exp pedal. I’m seriously interested in HX FX with my BluGuitar Amp1 4 cable method and hope someone can fully clear this up as I have to drive an hour or more to get my hands on one to test. THANK YOU.
  17. Does anybody know if it's possible to control an effects parameter via the signal level? e.g. I'd like to be able to control the mix for a chorus with the volume of the guitar; play softer, the chorus effect gets more pronounced. Or play harder and the gain increases on an overdrive patch. Clearly the autofilter effect can do this, but IMHO this would be a great ability to be able to apply to any parameter of any effect. Thanks for any tips you might have!
  18. Does anyone split a stereo electric and piezo signal in two and run those through the HX effects with separate outputs to amp and PA? I purchased the HX effects with the intention of running two distinct paths. Path 1 for my electric (time based and modulation effects) through the amp effects loop. I use analogue pedals for drive, compression etc. through the front of my amp. Path 2 for my acoustic utilising some EQ, modulation, reverb, delay output to PA. Basically, my electric guitar has piezo, stereo output from guitar to splitter box. Splitter box splits piezo and electric. Piezo goes into HX input 1 and output 1 to PA. Electric guitar signal from splitter box goes into some drive and compression effects into front of my amp. Amp effects loop sent into HX input 2 and output 2 returns to amp. I also have n expression pedal attached to the HX. I have managed to get the expression pedal to pan the stereo signals with acoustic through PA and electric through amp, but despite efforts to create two separate effects paths the signals get washed together. Im hoping someone out there is doing what Im trying to do and can offer some advice, or perhaps am I trying to do something that the HX isnt capable of?
  19. I'm experiencing an issue where, whenever I place effects on a B path, my overall output volume becomes louder than other Presets, when those fx on the B path, are switched off. EG: 'Preset A' has all effects on a single 'Path'. This preset produces intended Output Level 'Preset B' has some effects on a 'B Path', that 'B Path' merges before the end of the Signal Chain. This preset produces an Output Level louder than 'Preset A' when effects on Path B are OFF Both presets have the same parameters for the 'Split' and 'Merge' blocks (that being Center/0dB) How do I easily ensure uniform levels across presets, when some are using a B Path? I don't understand why I have to fiddle around with A and B levels in the Merge parameter. It should Merge at the same level as a preset without a split/merge.
  20. So, I have had the HX Effects for one year now. The ENTIRE time I have had it, I have not understood where this CONSTANT noise is coming from. FINALLY, the other day I turned OFF the FX Loop in the four cable method...and VOILA, NO noise!! It is extra severe when in my amp's distortion channel. (I play out of a three thousand dollar Orange amp that is pristine and SILENT when I plug my guitar straight in - so it IS the HX effects screwing up my scene.) Is there a fix to this problem??! Do I have to send it in?? (I don't have time for that). My solution for my show this saturday is to TOTALLY reprogram the thing for my ten song, forty minute set using the two cable method. So, I'll be piping the full sound of the effects etc directly into the front of the amp. This is NOT what I bought this thing for. So, essentially, my HX Effects is a huge failure and I can't send it back now. I hope there is a solution.
  21. Hi guys. The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2+ is industry standard and one of the most popular, accessible and easily one of the best all-round pedal power supply unit you can buy today. I've seen soooo many guys saying they need to sell their Voodoo Lab PP2+ power supply because it won't power their HX Stomp. Before you do that READ THIS POST! This will work on most boards, depending on board height and where your power supply is on the board. All you need to power an HX Stomp or HX effects is a cable from the courtesy outlet that you can plug the supplied wall wart into. that it literally it. As I'm in the UK I needed to get an IEC 320 C14 Male to USA UL 2Pin female power cord 28CM (click name to link...) and connect it to the courtesy outlet on the PP2+. You may need a different variation depending on where in the world you are but IT WORKS! It works, no dropouts, plenty of power to go around, safe. Don't go selling your Voodoo Lab PP2+ just because people have suggested you need a new one (or ordered you to buy the biggest, most expensive power supply because they have it and it's amazing at powering their 5 pedals with less than 30mA needed each, apart from that £350 delay pedal but now you have to buy it too because REASONS.. we've all seen those Facebook threads....). Anyway, the bottom line is this... Don't feel the need to splash out on a new PSU for your entire board just to power one thing. There are lower cost solutions that work. This particular solution cost me £6 or less. You can see it working HERE
  22. now... YMMV but I was using the One Spot CS12 for the last couple months to power my HX effects and it was iffy at best... sometimes it would boot up fine others the HX wouldn't boot at all but after some moving of cables it would eventually boot... well last night at my FIRST GIG with the HX Effects it refused to boot no matter what I tried.... thankfully I live 5 minutes from the venue and was able to jump in my car and get the power supply that came with the HX Effects... not sure if it was the One Spot's fault or if it's dependant on the venue providing proper voltage but I'm not risking it again.... just finished changing out the CS12 for my old Voodoo Labs PP2+ which will power my pedals and I'll use the courtesy 110VAC plug to power the HX with the Line6 adapter....
  23. Hi All, First time to post here as I really couldn't find an answer to my issue. I'm using an HX Effects with a dunlop dvp4 mini volume and expression pedal. I connected a trs cable into the aux and pedal 1 of the HX effects to control my wah position or whammy mix position. I did the learn thing, and actually the expression pedal is controlling the right parameters. However, my issue is that the heel position is correct (always 0% on whatever is being controlled), but once i get to the maximum toe position, it goes back to 0% position or what the heel position was doing. I noticed that the peak is somewhere at 70% of toe position. to clarify please see below example. Example on Wah (position vs. sound heard): max heel = bassier sound of a wah 70% of toe = treble sound of a wah max toe (100%) = back to bassier sound of a wah Example on whammy (position vs. sound heard): max heel = 0%mix of whammy sound 70% of toe = 100%mix of whammy sound max toe (100%) = 0%mix of whammy sound Can someone please advise what to do on this issue, I just need a linear relation between heel to toe vs. 0% to 100% wah position, or 0% to 100% mix on some parameters. Thanks in advance!
  24. I'm trying to install the newest HX Edit update, but it fails to verify. Line 6 has a note on the download page for if that issue occurs to download the Line 6 MD5 Checksum utility but the link leads to a page that says there is no Line 6 MD5 Checksum utility download. HELP! Not sure what I did. But it works. haha
  25. Hi, I admittedly have not had enough time to physically test the cable to make this work but I cannot seem to find a clear answer before I go down the rabbit hole- maybe somebody has had this pop up also? I bought the HX Stomp and want to use it with a Boss MS3 for a fly rig. My goal would be to hook up the MS3 in the FX Loop of the HX Stomp for maximum flexibility of effects ordering. The MS3 is a mono TS input with 2 stereo TS outputs. I want to use those stereo outputs for some of the delays and additional signal routing possible as a result. I am well versed in the HD500 from the past, Helix Native and also HX Effects for editing tones/signals and such. On the HX Stomp, can I create an FX block that allows for the mono send but with stereo returns on it? Any special work arounds to consider on this? I am pretty certain the MS3 will not like a TRS cable at it's input which would neutralize the FX TRS send, I just don't know how a TS cable on FX Send from HX Stomp will affect the block as a return in stereo. It seems like only real work around is 2 blocks, a mono send and then a stereo return - any other ways to do this as 1 block? Thank you all in advance for the help!!
