  1. I am running the most recent firmware on my HX Effects. For an expression pedal, I am using a Thru-Tone EXT-Ult, built into an Ernie Ball volume pedal with a kick switch on the side. The wah is turned on by using the kick switch on the side, and then controlled with the treadle itself. So the switch is just an on/off switch connected to the HXFX exp pedal 2 jack with a small patch cable. Recently, on about 20 different occasions (during performances and practice at home), I was nowhere near my pedalboard and the wah just switched on. To turn it off, I have to engage the switch and then disengage it. Trying the patch at home, I was looking at the computer editor and watched the wah engage by itself. I've swapped out patch cables. And before the most recent firmware, this has always worked for over a year and 100s of performances. What could be causing the wah to switch on? I didn't change anything in the patch in the new firmware- it is the same one I always use. Obviously the HXFX thinks the on/off for the wah was engaged, but it most certainly wasn't as the pedalboard was across the stage at the time. I spent the last few shows glued to my board, ready to turn off the wah (good thing, too, as it happened a few times). When I am not using the wah, I use the exp pedal for delay time and feedback, otherwise I'd just program the wah to come on when I reach 5% or something. I might just ditch the wah in my presets if it isn't something I can fix. I can't say for certain it is the firmware, but that is when all of this started happening. Anything else I can try? Priest? Holy water?
  2. Hi all, I've been wracking my brain over this one. I almost have my entire rig set yup the way I need it. I'm just wondering if there is any way to have one EXP functions assigned by SNAPSHOT - here's what I mean: SNAPSHOT1: EXP1 adjusts multiple parameters in multiple blocks - Delay Mix. Reverb Mix, Reverb Decay SNAPSHOT2: EXP1 adjusts overall volume on a volume block and DOES NOT affect the parameters assigned in SNAPSHOT1 Is this possible? Alternatively, I'm open to using a stomp switch to "toggle" the parameters that the EXP controls, regardless of which SNAPSHOT is selected, but this scenario seems more complex and more unlikely to be supported. Any help appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Hi everyone, Considering grabbing a Victory V4 Kraken to pair with the HX Effects. The Kraken has a foot switchable input for Tip - Gain 1/2 and Ring - Reverb on/off. I've never used the amp switching function on the HX Effects, so I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with the HX fx/Victory V4 formats and whether the amp switching on the HX is compatible with the TRS input on the back of the V4. The HX has the 1 and 2 for Amp Ext, but the Kraken only the TRS. So would I need a TRS to dual 1/4 to go into the HX Effects? If anyone has actually done this with another Victory V4, I'm sure it will work for all of them. Cheers!
  4. EDIT (my solution and conclusion): Found many people with this issue, a solution thread of 20 pages (full of arrogant RTFM comments), some useless YT-videos etc. It all comes down to this: The software is just BAD. Don't use the updater. It looks like software from 1999, it is so small on a full HD screen, that i had to walk over to my TV to be able to read it, and (qoute from the solution thread): It does not like USB hubs. ROFL There should be a sticker on the box, something like "this device needs updates but does not like computers, don't buy it if you are not a computer nerd, can't read at lightning speed all night or don't own a magnifying glass." a) i tried three printer cables b) i tried ALL of my eight USB ports c) i uninstalled the updater (uninstall routine told me there were errors while uninstalling, although i only had installed it an hour ago, so that part of the software is broken, too) and installed HX edit b) it finally worked with my shortest USB cable on the very first USB 3.0 port and only with the HX Edit software. So it seems that either the updater program, that is integrated into the edit software, works better than the standalone version (very strange), or the edit software has something to it that lets it read out the HX Effects flash memory better (more likely, but still strange). Since all my USB ports on my new gaming-pc are working with my very demanding keyboard (which only worked on the first port of my old pc) i think that the USB-hubs on this computer are fine. I also never had an issue with updating my Digitech GSP1101 or my Kemper. So there is only one conclusion: The Line6 USB driver is the main cause of update problems. They didn't make it better for years now. The last time i updated was in 2018 on my old i5. That took three days. If i remember right, the laptop of my wife finally did the trick. So no, it's not your fault, and it's not a case of RTFM, and it's not a rare case either. The HX Effects does not like USB-hubs although it depends on them. The Line6 programmers seem to be stuck in the 90s (that updater-window looks like C++ from 1999, when i learned how to code), they can't do software that adapts to screen solutions and they don't care if the problem exists for years and years. So sad. Nothing against the Line 6 support, they are great. But judging from all the issues the HX Effects had and has, they would have a much easier life if their software department would do a better job. Original post: I just tried to update my HX Effects. I downloaded the latest driver, the latest updater and the latest flash memory. Drivers and Updater installed on the computer (i7, win 10) without error. I used Avast Secure Browser for the download. The firmware on the HX Effects is 2.71.0 at the moment. Now i have one issue: When the HX Effects is connected to the computer and running, the updater won't start. When i start the updater first and then switch on the HX Effects (after the login), the updater shuts down. I restarted everything several times, even reinstalled, but things stay the same. Updater and HX Effects are not running together. Does anyone know what to do, is that a common issue? Am i doing it wrong?
  5. Hello! new user here! Im from argentina. Straight to the point guys, I just need to move all my effects/settings from my old pedalboard "HX Effects" to the new "Helix LT" that i just bought, i can't find the way to do this... is there any? Please help!
  6. Is it possible to control the HX Effects with a Voodoo Labs Ground Control Pro and GCX via midi where 8 IA Buttons for the 8 blocks 4 Snapshots controlled by the 4 preset buttons Up & Down buttons to change presets The HX Effects will sit in a rack unit using 4cm out to the amp. Thanks
  7. Hi everyone, I'm a longtime HX Effects user, and would like to use the HXFX to control Native in the same way as I do for the hardware effects. I'm finding this very cumbersome & slow. For example, in Ableton I've had to first individually map each CC Toggle / Expression value to a "switch" in the plugin's "configure" interface, and if I want one switch to control multiple things (easy on HXFX), I have to assign it to multiple "switches" in "configure". THEN I have to map these switches to the switches inside the Helix Native plugin itself. This wouldn't be so bad if I just had to do it once, but there is seemingly no way to SAVE these mappings anywhere. So I have to continually RE-DO all this, which means it takes ~20 minutes just to insert the plugin. Is there any way to integrate HXN with HXFX better, so that the switches/expression pedals in the plugin itself are mapped (and these mappings are saved)? There's that enticing "MIDI In" indicator bottom right in the plugin, which implies there must be a way for the plugin to directly receive MIDI, but I've never figured this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  8. Hello all I want to use Harley Benton midi foot controller with HX https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_mp_100_midi_foot_controller.htm Will I have any issue with using it? Will it allow me to use 4 expression pedals? 2 on hx and 2 on midi foot controller? I’m not very switched on with midi talk but will be able to program easy enough as I like to get deep and dirty with set up. The reason for the change is I play bass clarinet and it’s difficult to bend down with my instrument to change effects on the fly and want to have my board at hand height to and control hx with foot controller. Before I had the hx I had a loop switcher to be able switch stuff on and off from the floor and tweak at waist/hand height. any help is appreciated
  9. Greetings oh wise ones - new to the whole helix effects thing and was just wondering if anyone had any bright ideas on how to set up the following for maximum effect: 2 x Amps - neither with FX loops Boss Tube Amp Expander (TAE) DAW inputs At the moment I have HX Effects set up via 4CM using the TAE and one amp in the standard config. I then have HX Effects output 2 going straight into the front end of amp 2. This seems to give me true(ish) stereo out of the amps as I can hear delays etc jumping about and sounds great. I have not tried any fancy routing in the HX just a simple FX loop block before the stereo effects in the loop of the TAE The two TAE direct outputs are sent out (with an IR in the TAE "rig") to my DAW - sounds great , has all the effects, but is definitely mono The TAE has it's own in built FX (Stereo) which I can also add - Reverb, Delay, Compression and EQ/Boost I suppose what I am really asking is does anyone know of a way to get the stereo HX effects to work with the TAE direct into my DAW or is good old mono from the HX plus the stereo TAE effects where I am at ? Could just mic up the cabs.... (I have) Answers on a postcard or sealed envelope please ! Cheers C
  10. So I've been trying to make the JVM and HX Effects work for a week now with no success. I've got some experience setting up gear and I can't get rid of phasing issues when running the HX Effects through my JVM Loop. The amp has two loops. One series and one programmable series/parallel with a Mix knob. Phasing happens on both (fairly expected from the parallel one). I'm doing the 4 cable method as suggested by the L6 manual using a minimal setup. Guitar - HX 4cm - JVM and have one FX Loop block with a Horizon Gate and a Simple Delay after it. It's not about maxing out the mix on the delay thought I have messed with the mix settings both on the amp and the HX. The phasing is there even with no effects activated and it happens on both loops. The only setup that doesn't create phasing is HX Effects in the Series JVM Loop without the 4 cable method, which sucks because I mostly need it for the front-end effects but Gate/Delay are a must for me in the post section. Surprisingly I didn't experience the problems most people have with this combination. Setting up the channel switching was easy and I've got minimal noise. Anyone of you guys had the same issue and found a fix for it?
  11. Hi guys This may be a trivial question to most here, but hopefully someone can help me out. After many, many months of thinking about moving over to Line6 for my effects from individual pedals I finally made the jump and bought a HX Effects unit, now I’m still only scratching the surface of it but I’m impressed so far. The only thing that is bugging me is that when I bought the HX Effects, the power lead only came with a European two pin adapter to click onto the power supply, which is a bit of a pain when here in Ireland we use a Three pin socket. I thought that these power supplies usually come with a few different connections so as you can find the one that suits your country. I saw on different forums etc. people are just saying to go onto Amazon and buy a third party power supply but I’d rather just use the one that came with it. So after a very long winded post I was just wondering if anyone knows where, if possible, I could find a Three pin adapter that fits the power supply that came with the HX Effects. Thanks for any help guys.

  13. Hi...I noticed for the first time today that my #1 parameter knob (HX FX) will not let me change values. It I press it it goes to learn mode, but it has no effect when just using it in rotary fashion. I don't think I changed anything; if I did it was by accident. I updated to 3.01 back in December. Any ideas? Thanks, Jeff
  14. Hi people, I've recently added a Boss Sy-1 synth pedal to my setup, and I'm trying to send it out to a separate speaker. I have my amp running in 4CM. I'm then using the HX send 1 > Boss input > Boss output > to PA speaker. The problem I'm having is that I'm using the Send 1/2 on Path B, so I can add effects to the synth separately. But when I add a reverb, delay, etc, the reverb on Path B comes through my amps signal. I've panned Path A hard left, and Path B hard right on the merge mixer, yet the effect on Path B still bleeds to the other path. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  16. Hey L6 Forums, New HX Effects user here. Really liking it so far! I do have a question about Snapshots, though: On my main preset, I have 4 Snapshots set up - Clean Electric, Acoustic Sim, Overdrive, and Fuzz. I have the Clean Electric Snapshot set up as the base tone of the preset, and therefore it's not assigned to a footswitch. I'm trying to use the other 3 snapshots to swap in and out different sounds with one touch. Is there a way to set the Acoustic Sim, Overdrive and Fuzz snapshots to bypass automatically when I press the footswitch for one of the other Snpshots? I'm looking to avoid hitting the snapshot footswitch a second time, only to have it bypass the snapshot I wanted to change back to. I still want the release function on the switches for Acoustic, Overdrive and Fuzz to take me back to my Clean Electric snapshot, though. Is this possible?
  17. Hi all, This is more of a heads up, as I have a resolution (of sorts) to my issue. Like many, I made the jump recently from F/W 2.92 to 3.00. I'm not normally an early adopter but recent firmware updates had gone well and so I deviced to have a leap of faith. The update itself went without hitch, but I soon ran into issues whilst using a 1SW Looper (the problem may also relate to the 6SW, etc., but I've not tested). As a relative newbie to playing guitar, my setup is incredibly simple, so nothing I'm doing is likely to be taxing the HX Effects unit too heavily. In fact, in this paticular case my setup simply included a Bass Octaver, Analog Flanger, Minotaur, Plate Reverb, LA Studio Compressor and a single switch looper (all on a single path). My problem is that recording a 4 bar loop causes the HX effects to hang. I'm unable to end the loop and all switches and buttons cease to function; my only option being to power off the device. I thought it may be an issue carried over from previous settings, so I performed a factory reset. Initially, I restored (only) my Presets, but as the problem persisted, I conducted a second factory reset and setup the pedals fresh. No difference, the unit still hangs. I've managed to resolve my issue by reverting to 2.92 (which works perfectly), but this isn't ideal. I can't think what else to try at this stage and/or I'm not sure what additional information is needed to help troubleshoot. Anyway, as I said, this is more of a heads up (for others who may be suffering the same issue). If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. Also, I'm happy to provide additional information and/or conduct tests if it will prove beneficial. Regards Jack.
  18. If loading a third-party IR (impulse response) into HX Edit or POD Go Edit results in an out of memory condition, it is likely the source file is too large or contains too many samples. Open a DAW (digital audio workstation) e.g. Cubase, Logic, Reaper, Ableton, etc., or other capable audio recording/editing software, such as Audacity, and import the IR file into a new session/project. Trim the IR so that it is no more than 2,048 samples in length. Most DAWs have a ruler that you can set to beats, minutes/seconds, or samples. Set it to 'samples' in order to make the most accurate time selection. After the file has been trimmed, you're ready to export/bounce the new IR file. Use the item render/export in your DAW and follow these guidelines to ensure compatibility: 24-bit / 48k Mono (1 channel) Must be WAV file format
  19. Trying to see if there is a way to trigger playback of a prerecorded sound bite using the HX Effects controls or loop inputs. Ang ideas how this could be achieved?
  20. hello, I would like to control the HX Effects with Reaper (DAW). In fact I would like to create a midi track in my Reaper project (I work with a drum machine in Reaper) and insert tags that automatically trigger the effects of the HX Effect during the song, so that I don't have to use the footswitch when i play guitar. Has anyone done this kind of programming before and could help me? Thanks in advance
Merci d'avance !
  22. Hi ...can anyone offer an explanation or link to answer this... I have not found a simple answer that addresses this. Many of the videos about 2.90 are Helix based and although they share software my interface and user experience looks at least to me very different in actual practice. Specifically I am confused about the 2.90 update that is supposed to let you assign snapshots to any of the 6 switches and in doing so allowing you to use the "bank" switches for other things as well....If the four snapshots are "subsets" of a given preset which is composed of 9 blocks, then is the point of this new feature that any parameter or effect "within" the preset in question can be applied to those two switches? Including the Looper function? Or can this somehow allow us to assign 2 additional effects in stomp mode to these snapshots? Any help is appreciated thank you!
  23. Hi people, Just wondered if anyone could advise me on the new Snapshot/preset footswitch functions. i pretty much use my HX exclusively in snapshot mode when gigging. So now, being able to use snapshots in stomp mode, what would be the benefits, or versatility of using snapshots in this way? Thanks.
  24. Hey guys, so was wondering, has anyone successfully paired a tube preamp pedal (Vai Legacy Preamp) with their HX. If so, please Obi-wan, you're my only hope!! Im hoping to go through the HX and slave the power section of my amp. Thanks guys!
  25. Can someone explain me how all the parameters of the autofilter work? or any page where i can read it would be good too
