Hey guys and girls! So I have a question regarding the stereo inputs on specifically the HX Effects. Is it possible to run a guitar through the left input, and a bass (or vocals, keyboard, etc...) through the right input, and independently add effects to them on their own paths? Is it also possible to Merge the path B signal into the path A signal? I’ve attached a simple diagram showing what I’m trying (and probably failing) to describe! I believe the HX Stomp is capable of this, but just wanted to know if the HX Effects can do it too. Thanks in advance!

Hello Helix and HX wizards, I am trying to run a Wet/Dry rig with (my two amps and) my HX Effects. The "twist" is that I need an FX loop, with this additional element I can't figure out how to make it work without running into some phase issues... Any help ? :) Thanks !

I can't help but feel Line 6 missed out by not making the HX Stomp the size of the HX Effects and vice versa. The Stomp has amps and cabs with limited blocks. So if you want an amp and cab, you're left with 4 blocks. The Effects has the ability to Use a lot more blocks and load IRs, but no amps and cabs. So you have more switches and fx...but need to provide amps. It seems you'd want the extra blocks and buttons on the item you use as the all in one. The Stomp is being put on pedal boards as an effect pedal when it's supposed to be a baby Helix. I feel like they should make a stop the size of the HX Effects with all the blocks AND THE ROUTING. You can still stick it in a gig bag. If your gig bag won't hold the HX Effects size pedal, you need a better bag. It's not going to kill the sales of the full size Helix. People that want that will buy it. I just sold mine because I'm using the Kemper Stage for main gigs now. But for a small unit to throw in my bag for jams and rehearsals, I got the Stomp, and it sounds great, but it's so limited I'm tempted to sell it and go with an Atomic Amplifire 6. I dunno. I'm just hoping Line 6 considers this. I think the unit would be killer if it were basically an HX Effects with the amps and cabs added to it. Helix Mini, as it were.

After a year of being frustrated between my love of my HX FX and my annoyance with a board that was over sized to accommodate varying power supplies, I discovered that the True Tone 1 Spot Pro CS6 will power the HX FX. Previously I was using the same pedals as shown below, but on a Pedaltrain PT-1 with a rat's nest of splitters and short extension cords below to cope with plug blades in 2 orientations (you can't plug the adapter from the MXR supply and the Line 6 into the same strip and put it under the board. So now I have my HX and a few choice pedals on a Pedaltrain METRO 20! The power supply fits under the board, doesn't require a voltage doubler, and the CS6 comes with all of the cables you need (Line 6 and polarity reversal; the L6 plug switches polarity, but you have to switch it back on the HX). So good. Truetone's website says that it will work because it's a different kind of PSU (I think it's switching instead of transformers, you can look up the video for their explanation). While the port says 500 mA, it will allow the unit to draw more. They have to list a rating for testing and approval to sell it, but it will allow the HX to draw what it needs. Been using it about a month. No heat issues, no quirky behaviors. So happy to have a nice small rig now.

I recently updated to 2.8.1 firmware. I did not back up my patches, as I had not created any patches to back up before updating the firmware. Does anyone have a copy of the stock patch that you exported from HX Edit? I still have the stock patches, but none of the names. Thanks! Bill

Hi, I bought an HX Effects yesterday, absolutely loving the tones and functions. Now I am looking to delve into using MIDI to change the channel on my Blackstar Series One 45; to change from 'Warm Clean' with an Orange LED to 'Super Crunch' with a Red LED, changing between these two on a footswitch press. Any advice please? This is the first time I've ever used MIDI and I'm not fully sure what to do. Thank you all.

Greetings, Looking to duplicate a staple of my sound I have been doing with the Digitech Valve FX units since 1995. Unlike the POD XT CC expression control of Delay ‘level’ (and the DL4) with my older Digitech units I can turn the delay on or of with Control One footboard switch engaging it at a low delay level and use expression pedal to fluidly wash between the lowest setting and a full lush delay. When I rock the exp pedal back to heel position the trails from the toe position finish their cycle and are not CUT OFF. Both the DL4 and the POD XT do not seem to be able to do this at all - so my concern is the ‘Mix’ or ‘Level’ parameters for the delays on the HX FX will be equally dissapointing. They both cut off the trails and level of the high range of the effect pulling back to heel position abruptly in a non musical way. So - basically Im used to having midi CC that works as a ‘send’ - pushing the dry signal into the effect which doesnt cut off trails when pulling back the ‘send’ level. I control delay level & feedback in this way with all the incremental levels I ever need from delay in one CC exp pedal. I’m seriously interested in HX FX with my BluGuitar Amp1 4 cable method and hope someone can fully clear this up as I have to drive an hour or more to get my hands on one to test. THANK YOU.

Does anybody know if it's possible to control an effects parameter via the signal level? e.g. I'd like to be able to control the mix for a chorus with the volume of the guitar; play softer, the chorus effect gets more pronounced. Or play harder and the gain increases on an overdrive patch. Clearly the autofilter effect can do this, but IMHO this would be a great ability to be able to apply to any parameter of any effect. Thanks for any tips you might have!

Does anyone split a stereo electric and piezo signal in two and run those through the HX effects with separate outputs to amp and PA? I purchased the HX effects with the intention of running two distinct paths. Path 1 for my electric (time based and modulation effects) through the amp effects loop. I use analogue pedals for drive, compression etc. through the front of my amp. Path 2 for my acoustic utilising some EQ, modulation, reverb, delay output to PA. Basically, my electric guitar has piezo, stereo output from guitar to splitter box. Splitter box splits piezo and electric. Piezo goes into HX input 1 and output 1 to PA. Electric guitar signal from splitter box goes into some drive and compression effects into front of my amp. Amp effects loop sent into HX input 2 and output 2 returns to amp. I also have n expression pedal attached to the HX. I have managed to get the expression pedal to pan the stereo signals with acoustic through PA and electric through amp, but despite efforts to create two separate effects paths the signals get washed together. Im hoping someone out there is doing what Im trying to do and can offer some advice, or perhaps am I trying to do something that the HX isnt capable of?

So, I have had the HX Effects for one year now. The ENTIRE time I have had it, I have not understood where this CONSTANT noise is coming from. FINALLY, the other day I turned OFF the FX Loop in the four cable method...and VOILA, NO noise!! It is extra severe when in my amp's distortion channel. (I play out of a three thousand dollar Orange amp that is pristine and SILENT when I plug my guitar straight in - so it IS the HX effects screwing up my scene.) Is there a fix to this problem??! Do I have to send it in?? (I don't have time for that). My solution for my show this saturday is to TOTALLY reprogram the thing for my ten song, forty minute set using the two cable method. So, I'll be piping the full sound of the effects etc directly into the front of the amp. This is NOT what I bought this thing for. So, essentially, my HX Effects is a huge failure and I can't send it back now. I hope there is a solution.

Hi guys. The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2+ is industry standard and one of the most popular, accessible and easily one of the best all-round pedal power supply unit you can buy today. I've seen soooo many guys saying they need to sell their Voodoo Lab PP2+ power supply because it won't power their HX Stomp. Before you do that READ THIS POST! This will work on most boards, depending on board height and where your power supply is on the board. All you need to power an HX Stomp or HX effects is a cable from the courtesy outlet that you can plug the supplied wall wart into. that it literally it. As I'm in the UK I needed to get an IEC 320 C14 Male to USA UL 2Pin female power cord 28CM (click name to link...) and connect it to the courtesy outlet on the PP2+. You may need a different variation depending on where in the world you are but IT WORKS! It works, no dropouts, plenty of power to go around, safe. Don't go selling your Voodoo Lab PP2+ just because people have suggested you need a new one (or ordered you to buy the biggest, most expensive power supply because they have it and it's amazing at powering their 5 pedals with less than 30mA needed each, apart from that £350 delay pedal but now you have to buy it too because REASONS.. we've all seen those Facebook threads....). Anyway, the bottom line is this... Don't feel the need to splash out on a new PSU for your entire board just to power one thing. There are lower cost solutions that work. This particular solution cost me £6 or less. You can see it working HERE

Hi, I admittedly have not had enough time to physically test the cable to make this work but I cannot seem to find a clear answer before I go down the rabbit hole- maybe somebody has had this pop up also? I bought the HX Stomp and want to use it with a Boss MS3 for a fly rig. My goal would be to hook up the MS3 in the FX Loop of the HX Stomp for maximum flexibility of effects ordering. The MS3 is a mono TS input with 2 stereo TS outputs. I want to use those stereo outputs for some of the delays and additional signal routing possible as a result. I am well versed in the HD500 from the past, Helix Native and also HX Effects for editing tones/signals and such. On the HX Stomp, can I create an FX block that allows for the mono send but with stereo returns on it? Any special work arounds to consider on this? I am pretty certain the MS3 will not like a TRS cable at it's input which would neutralize the FX TRS send, I just don't know how a TS cable on FX Send from HX Stomp will affect the block as a return in stereo. It seems like only real work around is 2 blocks, a mono send and then a stereo return - any other ways to do this as 1 block? Thank you all in advance for the help!!

I'm interested in getting the HX effects and would like to be able to use it for switching amp channels. I have a Randall RG1503 Head which uses a 6 pin din cable for the footswitch. So I'm wondering if there is there any way that a 6 pin din can be converted to 1/4" so that I can use it with HX effects? Any help is greatly appreciated.

While trying 4CM using my HXFX and a Boogie Rectoverb head (effects loop in amp modified to series ) I noticed a hum, ground loop style coming from my amp. I tried the same setup with a Marshall JCM 900 with the same result. When I insert a Ebtech hum eliminator on one of the lines the hum goes away. If the HXFX is connected to either amps' effects loop in the common way there is no hum. I tried with a variety of cables with same results. Anyone else have this problem?

I'm using the Boss MS3 as my main controller, but open to new options and i really like the drives on the HX,... I'm thinking.... Wah- MS3-HX effects-Boss Space Echo-OUT.... Any advice or ideas would be super helpful.

Is it possible for me to control the snapshots on the Hx stomp via midi from the Hx effects? For example, If im on preset 1a snapshot 1 for both the stomp and FX, if i were to switch to snapshot 2 on the FX is there a way to get the HX Stomp to go to snapshot 2 as well with just the one click of the FX?

So my rig is: Guitar -> HX Effects -> Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Im putting everything into the front of the amp. The issue I'm facing is when I play really hard and get loud notes there's a deafening pop that comes from the amp. It doesn't make much difference which drive I'm using but just sends this digital popping sound which makes it unusable live. I've tried playing with guitars - ESP with Seymor Dunc JB are the worst. My Fender Strat is not as bad but bad enough. I don't think my amp is the issue.. when plugging in my old prdals (OCD, Flashback, etx) its fine. I've showered all forums but can't seem to find this issue reported before. Anyone got any ideas?

I have an on going issue that I can't seem to figure out that I've been trying to figure out for months. When running my Strymon BigSky and Timeline either in a loop or if I try to run in stereo by using the left and right outputs on the HX Effects I get digital clipping. When running them in the loop I've had to adjust the Send volume down by around -16db to eliminate the clipping, then I max the Boost on the BigSky (+3db) and then max in Return volume on the HX Effect out just to try and get close to the original volume (I think the max is +6db if I remember correctly). Then when I try to tun the Strymon pedals in stereo by using both outs on the HX Effects since there is no volume adjustments for the outs I found that if I use the low pass filer on the BigSky that helps clean up the issue. All this brings up several questions. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Is there maybe something wrong with my HX Effects? What I really want to do is run a true stereo set up where I run out to the front of 2 clean amps but I don't want to loose signal volume or integrity, which might make using a loop an issue because I don't think you can use a single loop in stereo and I have my drives on the first loop so I can use a noise gate and compressor in front of them on the HX.

I just got a brand new HX Effects the other day and I am going to use it at my church. To get started on some presets, I purchased some worship presets off a website that was particularly made for the HX Effects. I updated the firmware on the HX Effects to version 2.71 and I also have version 2.71 of the HX Edit. When I open up HX Edit and click import preset, once I click yes on "do you want to overwrite the existing preset?", HX Edit automatically closes. I am using a Macbook Air running macOS Mojave. I've tried restarting my laptop several times as well as restarting the HX Effects and it still does the same thing. Before I contact Line 6 Support, I thought I would ask you guys.

Hello! Anyone out there using HX Effects with Tech21 Trademark 60? I recently got the Hx fx. Wonderful gear. Full of great features. Used some pods before. Recently Pod Hd500x. But the Helix family seems to take it a step further. I got the HX Effects to try to make the most of it and its features. I use the loops, loop 1 to insert some pedals (mainly distortions) and loop 2 to make the 4 Cable Method (4CM). I have an expression pedal on input 1 and was trying to control my amp functions with the Ext Amp 2. So far I was able to change channel but I can't access any other functions on my amp. Can't control Boost/Reverb function neither Fx loop on/off. The only thing I can think about is that this happens because my Trademark amp usually uses a standard (mono, Tip/sleeve) cable to connect to its original footswitch and I think the Hx Fx is supposed to use a TRS jack cable. I've tried both with the same result. I can only switch between amp channels. While reading the manual trying to solve this I came across something that worried me because I really don't know what it means: "IMPORTANT! Connect EXT AMP 1/2 only to amplifiers that utilize "shortto-sleeve" footswitch inputs. Connecting to any other sort of input could cause permanent damage to both your amp and the HX Effects device! If you're not sure if your amp has short-to-sleeve inputs, contact the manufacturer." I don't know what "short-to-sleeve" means... and if this amp applies or not. Could this be the problem? Am I in risk of damaging my gear? Anyone can think of something that might help me? Thank you so much! Keep rocking and rolling!

I'm trying to get that "Friday Night Lights (Daniel Lanois - Sonho Dourado) sound". Any suggestions on a pedal effects train to get the job done? (there are some youtubes that look like they might have info, but are in Spanish, lol). I'm looking for an ideal case layout suggestion to see what I can close to with my existing rig. (I've got Boss Comp/Sus (CS-3) & EQ (GE-7) pedals running into a Line 6 HX Effects unit. I usually play small gigs directly thru my Boss L1. Main Axe is a Godin Multitac Spectrum SA with D'Addario flat wound Jazz strings). Thanks!

I think the HX Effects 'Snapshot Mode' "Latch" option in Global Settings is not working correctly. EG: When 'Preset Mode' is set to "Latch", changing Presets keeps you in 'Preset Mode' -GOOD when 'Preset Mode' is set to "Moment", changing Presets pushes you into 'Stomp Mode' -GOOD! when 'Snapshot Mode' is set to "Latch" and 'Preset Mode' is set to "Latch", changing Snapshots keeps you in 'Snapshot Mode' -GREAT! BUT when 'Snapshot Mode' is set to "Latch" and 'Preset Mode' is set to "Moment", changing Snapshots pushes you into 'Stomp Mode' -ERGH! WRONG. BAD MULTI-EFFECTS BAD! :P This is wrong. 'Snapshot' Mode' set to "Latch", should remain in Snapshot Mode, regardless of what 'Preset Mode' is set to. I want the HX Effects to dive into Stomp Mode after I select a Preset, so I set Preset Mode to Moment. But I want Snapshot Mode to remain visible when I'm using them, which I can't do.

I'm experiencing an issue where, whenever I place effects on a B path, my overall output volume becomes louder than other Presets, when those fx on the B path, are switched off. EG: 'Preset A' has all effects on a single 'Path'. This preset produces intended Output Level 'Preset B' has some effects on a 'B Path', that 'B Path' merges before the end of the Signal Chain. This preset produces an Output Level louder than 'Preset A' when effects on Path B are OFF Both presets have the same parameters for the 'Split' and 'Merge' blocks (that being Center/0dB) How do I easily ensure uniform levels across presets, when some are using a B Path? I don't understand why I have to fiddle around with A and B levels in the Merge parameter. It should Merge at the same level as a preset without a split/merge.
