So, I have had the HX Effects for one year now. The ENTIRE time I have had it, I have not understood where this CONSTANT noise is coming from. FINALLY, the other day I turned OFF the FX Loop in the four cable method...and VOILA, NO noise!! It is extra severe when in my amp's distortion channel. (I play out of a three thousand dollar Orange amp that is pristine and SILENT when I plug my guitar straight in - so it IS the HX effects screwing up my scene.) Is there a fix to this problem??! Do I have to send it in?? (I don't have time for that). My solution for my show this saturday is to TOTALLY reprogram the thing for my ten song, forty minute set using the two cable method. So, I'll be piping the full sound of the effects etc directly into the front of the amp. This is NOT what I bought this thing for. So, essentially, my HX Effects is a huge failure and I can't send it back now. I hope there is a solution.

Hi guys. The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2+ is industry standard and one of the most popular, accessible and easily one of the best all-round pedal power supply unit you can buy today. I've seen soooo many guys saying they need to sell their Voodoo Lab PP2+ power supply because it won't power their HX Stomp. Before you do that READ THIS POST! This will work on most boards, depending on board height and where your power supply is on the board. All you need to power an HX Stomp or HX effects is a cable from the courtesy outlet that you can plug the supplied wall wart into. that it literally it. As I'm in the UK I needed to get an IEC 320 C14 Male to USA UL 2Pin female power cord 28CM (click name to link...) and connect it to the courtesy outlet on the PP2+. You may need a different variation depending on where in the world you are but IT WORKS! It works, no dropouts, plenty of power to go around, safe. Don't go selling your Voodoo Lab PP2+ just because people have suggested you need a new one (or ordered you to buy the biggest, most expensive power supply because they have it and it's amazing at powering their 5 pedals with less than 30mA needed each, apart from that £350 delay pedal but now you have to buy it too because REASONS.. we've all seen those Facebook threads....). Anyway, the bottom line is this... Don't feel the need to splash out on a new PSU for your entire board just to power one thing. There are lower cost solutions that work. This particular solution cost me £6 or less. You can see it working HERE

now... YMMV but I was using the One Spot CS12 for the last couple months to power my HX effects and it was iffy at best... sometimes it would boot up fine others the HX wouldn't boot at all but after some moving of cables it would eventually boot... well last night at my FIRST GIG with the HX Effects it refused to boot no matter what I tried.... thankfully I live 5 minutes from the venue and was able to jump in my car and get the power supply that came with the HX Effects... not sure if it was the One Spot's fault or if it's dependant on the venue providing proper voltage but I'm not risking it again.... just finished changing out the CS12 for my old Voodoo Labs PP2+ which will power my pedals and I'll use the courtesy 110VAC plug to power the HX with the Line6 adapter....

Hi All, First time to post here as I really couldn't find an answer to my issue. I'm using an HX Effects with a dunlop dvp4 mini volume and expression pedal. I connected a trs cable into the aux and pedal 1 of the HX effects to control my wah position or whammy mix position. I did the learn thing, and actually the expression pedal is controlling the right parameters. However, my issue is that the heel position is correct (always 0% on whatever is being controlled), but once i get to the maximum toe position, it goes back to 0% position or what the heel position was doing. I noticed that the peak is somewhere at 70% of toe position. to clarify please see below example. Example on Wah (position vs. sound heard): max heel = bassier sound of a wah 70% of toe = treble sound of a wah max toe (100%) = back to bassier sound of a wah Example on whammy (position vs. sound heard): max heel = 0%mix of whammy sound 70% of toe = 100%mix of whammy sound max toe (100%) = 0%mix of whammy sound Can someone please advise what to do on this issue, I just need a linear relation between heel to toe vs. 0% to 100% wah position, or 0% to 100% mix on some parameters. Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to install the newest HX Edit update, but it fails to verify. Line 6 has a note on the download page for if that issue occurs to download the Line 6 MD5 Checksum utility but the link leads to a page that says there is no Line 6 MD5 Checksum utility download. HELP! Not sure what I did. But it works. haha

Hi, I admittedly have not had enough time to physically test the cable to make this work but I cannot seem to find a clear answer before I go down the rabbit hole- maybe somebody has had this pop up also? I bought the HX Stomp and want to use it with a Boss MS3 for a fly rig. My goal would be to hook up the MS3 in the FX Loop of the HX Stomp for maximum flexibility of effects ordering. The MS3 is a mono TS input with 2 stereo TS outputs. I want to use those stereo outputs for some of the delays and additional signal routing possible as a result. I am well versed in the HD500 from the past, Helix Native and also HX Effects for editing tones/signals and such. On the HX Stomp, can I create an FX block that allows for the mono send but with stereo returns on it? Any special work arounds to consider on this? I am pretty certain the MS3 will not like a TRS cable at it's input which would neutralize the FX TRS send, I just don't know how a TS cable on FX Send from HX Stomp will affect the block as a return in stereo. It seems like only real work around is 2 blocks, a mono send and then a stereo return - any other ways to do this as 1 block? Thank you all in advance for the help!!

I'm interested in getting the HX effects and would like to be able to use it for switching amp channels. I have a Randall RG1503 Head which uses a 6 pin din cable for the footswitch. So I'm wondering if there is there any way that a 6 pin din can be converted to 1/4" so that I can use it with HX effects? Any help is greatly appreciated.

While trying 4CM using my HXFX and a Boogie Rectoverb head (effects loop in amp modified to series ) I noticed a hum, ground loop style coming from my amp. I tried the same setup with a Marshall JCM 900 with the same result. When I insert a Ebtech hum eliminator on one of the lines the hum goes away. If the HXFX is connected to either amps' effects loop in the common way there is no hum. I tried with a variety of cables with same results. Anyone else have this problem?

Hey Guys, I've just picked up a Line 6 Hx effects! Love it!, I currently run a Boss MS3, but want to intergrate the HX into the pedalboard too, any idea's? I'm using the Boss MS3 as my main controller, but open to new options and i really like the drives on the HX,... I'm thinking.... Wah- MS3-HX effects-Boss Space Echo-OUT.... Any advice or ideas would be super helpful.

I recently purchased a FX effect unit and really like everything it can do. I'm running 4cm into a Hughes and Kettner tubemeister 36 head. As I'm building a scene, i get the distortion from the HX effect dialed in. As I add to the signal chain and place the effects loop (after the distortion) the sound becomes thin, almost like a am radio. If I turn the loop off i get the original sound. Am I missing something on the set up? I have a comp, Distortion, fx loop, chorus, delay, and noise gate. Other than using snapshots to turn the loop on only when I want the amps distortion, am i missing something in the set up?

So my rig is: Guitar -> HX Effects -> Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Im putting everything into the front of the amp. The issue I'm facing is when I play really hard and get loud notes there's a deafening pop that comes from the amp. It doesn't make much difference which drive I'm using but just sends this digital popping sound which makes it unusable live. I've tried playing with guitars - ESP with Seymor Dunc JB are the worst. My Fender Strat is not as bad but bad enough. I don't think my amp is the issue.. when plugging in my old prdals (OCD, Flashback, etx) its fine. I've showered all forums but can't seem to find this issue reported before. Anyone got any ideas?

I have an on going issue that I can't seem to figure out that I've been trying to figure out for months. When running my Strymon BigSky and Timeline either in a loop or if I try to run in stereo by using the left and right outputs on the HX Effects I get digital clipping. When running them in the loop I've had to adjust the Send volume down by around -16db to eliminate the clipping, then I max the Boost on the BigSky (+3db) and then max in Return volume on the HX Effect out just to try and get close to the original volume (I think the max is +6db if I remember correctly). Then when I try to tun the Strymon pedals in stereo by using both outs on the HX Effects since there is no volume adjustments for the outs I found that if I use the low pass filer on the BigSky that helps clean up the issue. All this brings up several questions. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Is there maybe something wrong with my HX Effects? What I really want to do is run a true stereo set up where I run out to the front of 2 clean amps but I don't want to loose signal volume or integrity, which might make using a loop an issue because I don't think you can use a single loop in stereo and I have my drives on the first loop so I can use a noise gate and compressor in front of them on the HX.

Hello! Anyone out there using HX Effects with Tech21 Trademark 60? I recently got the Hx fx. Wonderful gear. Full of great features. Used some pods before. Recently Pod Hd500x. But the Helix family seems to take it a step further. I got the HX Effects to try to make the most of it and its features. I use the loops, loop 1 to insert some pedals (mainly distortions) and loop 2 to make the 4 Cable Method (4CM). I have an expression pedal on input 1 and was trying to control my amp functions with the Ext Amp 2. So far I was able to change channel but I can't access any other functions on my amp. Can't control Boost/Reverb function neither Fx loop on/off. The only thing I can think about is that this happens because my Trademark amp usually uses a standard (mono, Tip/sleeve) cable to connect to its original footswitch and I think the Hx Fx is supposed to use a TRS jack cable. I've tried both with the same result. I can only switch between amp channels. While reading the manual trying to solve this I came across something that worried me because I really don't know what it means: "IMPORTANT! Connect EXT AMP 1/2 only to amplifiers that utilize "shortto-sleeve" footswitch inputs. Connecting to any other sort of input could cause permanent damage to both your amp and the HX Effects device! If you're not sure if your amp has short-to-sleeve inputs, contact the manufacturer." I don't know what "short-to-sleeve" means... and if this amp applies or not. Could this be the problem? Am I in risk of damaging my gear? Anyone can think of something that might help me? Thank you so much! Keep rocking and rolling!

I'm trying to get that "Friday Night Lights (Daniel Lanois - Sonho Dourado) sound". Any suggestions on a pedal effects train to get the job done? (there are some youtubes that look like they might have info, but are in Spanish, lol). I'm looking for an ideal case layout suggestion to see what I can close to with my existing rig. (I've got Boss Comp/Sus (CS-3) & EQ (GE-7) pedals running into a Line 6 HX Effects unit. I usually play small gigs directly thru my Boss L1. Main Axe is a Godin Multitac Spectrum SA with D'Addario flat wound Jazz strings). Thanks!

So, I haven't tried this yet, but I plan to and if it works it will be pretty cool... (if it doesn't, I guess I'll have to start it as a suggestion on the Idea thing). JHS makes a pedal that they call the stutter (or something like that) and it is a momentary killswitch. Basically, you can tap the switch on this pedal and it kills the signal until you let go, so you can tap a patter and it will "stutter" to that pattern. I was thinking that I might be able to set up a footswitch on the HX effects to do the same effect (have it control the position value of the volume pedal effect with the level 100 normally and have it go to 0 when depressed). What ya think?

I looked around the board and didn't see this mentioned so I'll ask it here. Can you set up a single effect to be used for the entire HX effects unit, that does not take one of the foot switches to activate? I always use a compressor and there is one in the HX Effects units that I like, and I would like that to be on all the time, regardless of the bank and/or patch that I am using. Right now I have to use one of the six buttons for the compressor on every patch, which kind of wastes a button. If I could assign a global effect, that is always on for every bank, that would be awesome since it would leave room for 6 other effects. Appreciate any help.
-
I think it would be cool if there were a global setting that allowed for six snapshots. With this setting enabled, the mode button would be used as a three way toggle between preset, pedal board, and snapshot modes. Update 2.80?

Hello all! I was using my new HX Effects and getting deeper into my banks, I realized even though I have 2 expression pedals hooked up I was not able to add 2 different volume pedals as 2 different blocks. I like setting up stereo, splitting the the A/B into separate distortions and delays, figured each line needed a volume pedal! I realize I was trying this from the software and not the actual unit itself to adjust the blocks, there is a bit of time yet until the software does everything I was reading. I will try from the unit itself tomorrow when back at it in the AM. Has anyone else noticed this by any chance? Just curious in the meantime before I get to mess with it more myself. I'd love to request this in a future programming update.

hi. I would love to add to the request for a future update the ability to have 6 snapshots. you could use the mode button to toggle between presets / snapshots / stomp mode/
