I've been using HX stomp for quite a while but new to this forum. Not sure if I can get some help on this controller assignment issue or is there any existing discussion already covered this: I've been using both [MIDI In signal] and [one footswitch] to on/off a Level block serves as line selector/mute function on one of my output (I got 3 outputs in total hooked up to 3 amps for different effects). Now I need to add one more block to my chain that already takes up all 8 blocks, so I need to remove the level block and turn to the level control on the Mixer. This is when I realize that, unlike a block, there is no MIDI In in the HX Edit when a control is assigned to the level on Mixer. This means that I need to choose between a footswitch or MIDI signal to control my output, instead of having both options. This is really essential for me because although I play live with a track and everything is auto controlled via MIDI, but there is always time when I need to manually intervene and mute the output. I can't choose one over another as they are both important for me. Anybody knows how I can make this work? Any thoughts would be much appreciated!!

Hi, Folks, I'm modding a jazz guitar that currently has a magnetic pickup in the neck. I'm putting an acoustic pickup (actually a compression pickup) under the bridge to get an acoustic sound. However, I don't have a pre-amp for the pickup, but one is generally recommended. I'm planning to have them wired with a stereo/TRS output jack on the guitar so I can blend them externally. Would the HX stomp be sufficient for this? The idea is to split the signals into the two inputs and then bring the two input paths together. On the acoustic side, I would have an IR as well as a pre-amp model or similar. Would this work out okay? Do I need a pre-amp to amplify the acoustic signal *before* I get to the Helix, or should I be able to balance those two pickups with levels, etc. inside the HX Stomp? Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Hi guys! I'm new to the modeling world and was hoping you could help clarify some things for me. I'm confused on how to set the global output on the HX Stomp. I will be running the Stomp (as an amp replacement) to 3 different setups: a Harbinger M60 PA system, Cubase (via a Scarlett 212), and into a direct box (to FOH) for live playing. I've heard that it's best to change the default output from "inst" to "line" for these situations (as I'm not running into an amp) but wanted to see if anyone here had any insights. My other question is what cord is best to line out of the Stomp for these 3 situations. So far, for my home PA / DAW, I've just used a basic 1/4" guitar cable. That said, I was reading that many folks use a TRS to XLR cable. I really enjoy my sounds I've gotten in my headphones, PA, and DAW. But I haven't tried these in a live setting yet. I really want to create my presets at home in a way that they'll be comparable when I plug to play live through DI into a larger system. That said, I was hoping I had my global settings / cable correct from the start. I appreciate any insights you may have!!

I'm curious if anyone has tried using the effects from a POD HD500X into an HX Stomp? I seem to remember that the POD had pretty good effects overall. I have one sitting around collecting dust and you can't get much for them on Reverb. I guess it would be a poor man's HX Effects and if it works it would help out with the DSP. Any settings adjustments needed from using it straight into an amp?

So, I want to use my Stomp mostly for switching purposes on my pedalboard. However, since I am using a preamp pedal I need a third FX loop. One to engage my drives all at once, one for the preamp and one for my delay and reverb. So I was thinking of using the left and right ins and outs to set up two completely seperate signal chains and creating a third always-on FX loop for the preamp pedal by running the signal from the left output into the right input. Whether this is possible, and how to execute it settings-wise I'm not exactly sure. Figured some experts in here could give me a pointer?

I'm having a footswitch issue with my HX Stomp. I recently bought a Boss FS-6 dual footswitch to add additional switches to my unit but I seem to be having an odd problem. I have the footswitch in latched mode and everything assigned properly but when I press the footswitch the light turns on and nothing happens. When I press it a second time the block I've assigned turns on but the footswitch light goes off again. When using momentary mode on the footswitches it seems to work though I don't have the light indication on the footswitch to tell me if it's on or off easily. This seems consistent with each other as it has something to do with two signals activating a block (turning latch mode on/off = two signals, pressing momentary = two since it's pressed on and off very quickly). I have it connected with a short TRS cable so both footswitches "work", but not necessarily as intended and I can only functionally use it in momentary mode. I think I've seen this issue being discussed in a few Youtube comment sections but I haven't been able to find anything on the forums yet about this. Is the FS-6 just not compatible with the HX Stomp? If anybody has any insights into the issue that would be amazing. EDIT: Solved! I had to change the bypass mode of the block to "momentary" instead of "latched" even when the Boss footswitch is set to latched. Works perfectly. Included video of the issue:

Hey People, I just recently purchased an HX STOMP. I have been watching loads of videos on how to create presets and such. One in particular which caught my attention was this one: He assignes his settings to SNAPSHOT 1 and 2 and upon doing so, the switch lights on his HX STOMP change colour. I have tried this and unfortunately my lights are just white and this is only when the switch is selected, when a switch is not selected the lights are off. Any Idea what I've done wrong? I feel as though I followed the video correctly. Thanks

hello! I updated to 3.15 some weeks ago, kept recording in pro tools first, using a scarlett 2i2, with my stomp. Three days ago, I started the Metallurgy trial, so I attempted to record with it. I could not, I guess because it's the free trial version, so I 'd have to buy it. I could play with the tones though, so I recorded some DI lines and -since I could not reamp with metallurgy- I tried the stomp, with no result ... I tried the manual's way, two tracks, one DI ( input 5) one wet (input 1). The DI track gets no signal at all while playing (and the wet track works fine)... I also uninstalled metallurgy but still nothing. Using hx stomp as an interface, but input 5 gets no signal. Help!!!!

Here is a quick guide on assigning dual momentary footswitch options to your HX Stomp or HX Stomp XL using the external switch jack: Global Settings > Preferences > Page 2 will show EXP FS Tip and EXP FS Ring. These setting should be assigned to FS4/FS7 and FS5/FS8 accordingly. Next menu item over: Global Settings > Footswitches > FS4(FS7) Function, FS5(FS8) Function assignment on page 2. These can be assigned to different functions such as Stomp buttons OR Preset up and down. HX Stomp Controllers & Snapshots video

I am having issues with HX edit 2.7 since I installed firmware 3.15. List of issues: 1. When I try and load my backup, it fails because something is missing apparently 2. The editor itself does not function properly. The lines connecting the blocks are not in the right spot and if I move them, I get an error message 3. I do not have a main L/R at the end of the signal path anymore. 3. I cannot rename or recolor snapshots anymore. I used to be able to do this before updating I have tried everything I can think of including a complete factory reset and deletion of all HX related files and registry keys followed by reinstall of most current programs. I am at a total loss and have gigs coming up. Please help!

hello, I would like to know if anyone has had good or bad experiences using the Jackson Audio via MIDI together with the HX STOMP. I would use them controlling with the Morning Star MC3 but, I have been told that there is some latency with the use of the switch on those pedals.

Hi All, I have a problem regarding the integration of my HX Stomp XL into the FX Loop of my ENGL Fireball: I connect using 4CM: Guitar -> Stomp Input L / MONO -> Stomp Output L / MONO -> Fireball Input (Preamp) -> Fireball FX Send -> Stomp Return L / Mono -> Stomp Send -> Fireball FX Return -> Fireball Speaker Out -> Speaker The Fireballs FX Loop Knop is turned fully to the right (100% Wet FX Loop). Noise Gate at 12 o'clock. Now any time I try out an 4CM Preset of the stomp or create my own preset including an FX Loop block I get a high pitching continuous sound from my amp / box which does not sound healthy at all. It is really squeeling and not the typical noise. Sounds much more artifical an constant. Would be very happy if you could help me with your experience as under the current described circumstances I cannot use the Stomp with the ENGL which really is a pitty. Thank you so much! Best regards, Max

Hi, this is Mauro from Argentina. After having some electrical issues on stage, Stomp's display turned white during the show. Turning off and on works but only for a random time that could go from 30s to 40m (after many tests at home and rehearsal room). The issue is only about the display, I had no sound problems at all. I also updated the Firmware after this issue just in case, but I can 100% affirm this is an electronical issue. Unfortunately, I don't have any trustable people who can look at it. Warranty has expired too (yes, one month after the 1-year). The seller reviewed and told there's nothing wrong in the unit because they weren't able to replicate. Here's a photo of the issue. I see this issue happening on many LED screens from TVs or computers, so I think it shouldn't be something too complex: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12KEMfg-FyCknNTX63CHyg5pdeMkiFrrL/view?usp=sharing Did anybody ran into this kind of issues? Any tips on which components should be taken in count for reviewing? any electronic plan? Thanks!

I want to capture a direct signal before I use hardware FX pedals in front of my stomps amp blocks . Would this signal path work for me? GTR into input one ~ USB block to Daw ~ ,stereo Send and return to My Eventide H9 ~ followed by my amp blocks ~ then out the main outs to another H9 ~ to two inputs of my sound card. Id make a aggregated Sound card in my Mac so I could use my stomp USB for my direct signal and my sound card to record the second H9 feed from my main outs . Would this be the best way to get a DI and my effected signal in my DAW? My plan would also be to Re-amp through the Stomps USB Send return path.

Hi First time poster here. I have searched, but couldn’t find the answer to my query. I currently have a Helix Floor and and also bought Helix Native at the discounted price - £99 here in the UK. What I would like to do is sell the Helix Floor and buy an HX Stomp, but keep or transfer my copy of Native. I would like to deregister the Helix so that the buyer can qualify for the Native discount, but keep the licence for Native I already have to go with the new HX Stomp Is this possible? Thanks

So there is some confusion for me regarding the outputs on the stomp. Mostly due to this video: Like others, I am currently running my stomp outputs using a couple of diy TRS -> XLR connectors and have had great success. I have seen reports of people experiencing ground noise when using their stomp, which I believe could be solved by placing a latching switch (ground lift) on the ground wire of my DIY TRS -> XLR connectors. Which leaves me wondering: are there any advantages you gain by using a direct box with the stomp outside of having a ground lift switch?

hx stomp Disable the access to the bank of presets in Snapshot Mode
guitarsoundy posted a topic in Helix
Hi, I use a HX Stomp for several months for professional use and I really like it. I built a external footswitch to change presets (FS4-5) and I'm using the HX Stomp in Snapshot Mode, that's great ! But... My problem : when I play in live conditions, I'm not that precise and I often step on 2 footswitches instead of the right one, so it open the bank of presets, which is really (really!) not confortable before a solo!... My question : is there a way to disable that function? I mean, keeping the control of snapshots with the footswitches but nothing else. I can't find anything in the Global settings... If not, is there a way to submit this idea to Line 6, and hoping they include it in a next firmware? By creating a petition or something like that... :) Thanks for your help! PS : "be precise" is not an valid answer ;) -
Hi, just switched to a Macbook m1 Pro. HX Edit HX Stomp all fine. Issue I, I cannot change the sample rate. Is fixed in Audio Devices. All my cubase projects are pitched up now (nice speed boost for metal, though :-) ) I have installed Line 6 Helix Driver 1.5.0.dmg. But no change here. What do I missing. Thanks, Marco

Hi all! About a year ago, I was using an MXR 10-band EQ in the FX loop of my amplifier and it sounded amazingly good. I noticed it was giving me some bad hiss though, so I switched it out for a Source Audio EQ2 about 6 months ago, which also sounded good. I wanted to add delay, reverb, and an amp modeler into the amp's FX loop along with the EQ, so I ultimately decided to sell the EQ2 and put an HX Stomp in the amp's FX loop to do all of this. Currently, this is how my HX Stomp functions and here is my signal chain: Guitar > front of amp effects > preamp > FX loop send > HX Stomp 10 band EQ > HX Stomp digital delay > FX loop return > power amp The problem is that upon switching out the EQ2 for the HX Stomp, when I set the Stomp's 10-band EQ parameters to what the previous EQ's were set at, I realized there was an extremely noticeable jump in some of the frequencies. The signal immediately sounded very nasally. Through messing with the frequencies, I realized there was a boost in frequency right around 1K Hz. To give an idea of how different the frequency hike is, 1K Hz on the old EQ was set at +2 dB (I run a little hotter for more gain in the FX loop). On the HX Stomp, I have to run this same frequency at -2.0 dB to achieve a comparable sound. However, running this frequency this low on the Stomp's EQ is causing some fidelity issues; coming out of speaker, anything around 1K Hz sounds like it coming out of an AM radio. You can imagine this is frustrating. Has anyone had this issue and/or does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, or advice on how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Help with Midi question please. I'm looking for a Midi Solution to assigning my Midi Controller to emulate FS4 / FS5 for preset switching and scrolling without using the CC52/53 emulate change controls. I have a Mission expression pedal plugged into EXP 1/2 and this uses FS5 to switch between EXP1 and 2. I am looking for different control change or method to handle what FS4 / FS5 does from my MC6 Midi Controller and not use CC52/53. I think it can be done since I had a Jet HX 3.0 controller that had this preprogrammed and allowed me to use the expression pedal as mentioned above. I do not know how they programmed it however... Thanks.

Hi Guys, I have my HX stomp in the effects loop of a Simplifier Deluxe. With help frm this forum and TGP, I’ve got a ‘parallel amp’ set up w stereo fx frm the stomp. It’s set up in 7CM and the Simplifier DLX XLR outs go to the PA. I should have a pretty good sound going here, yes I now have minimal latency and better response/feel (which was a big goal) HOWEVER when I engage any gain, there’s that awful fizzy sound that almost sounds like a digital clipping thing. Like frequencies are clashing? I’ve APPLIED LOW & HIGH CUTS and though that’s improved the tone, I’m still getting these digital ‘overtones’ esp on the higher strings. Am not sure whether it’s something I’ve done or haven’t (!) or it’s just a reality of ‘analog’ modelling. Perhaps the Simplifier and the HX just don’t react well together in this set up? Here’s my signal chain, perhaps one of you clever people can see something I can’t! Guitar - HX stomp mono in. HX send to DLX input left - TRS cable. DLX send to HX L & R returns - Y cable DLX returns L & R to HX L & R outputs. Other settings - HX preset has a stereo FX loop block with all time based FX after, any overdrives before. FX loop level is at 50-60%. Send level is pushed slightly to help with volume and gives the guitar some ‘body’ (otherwise it sounds like I’m plugged in to the home stereo) I’ve BYPASSED the Simplifier DLX preamp section, using the amps in the HX which gives much more versatility. (Using the CAB SIM of the DLX…Not ideal but can’t do it the other way around) This set up DOES take my analog pedals much better than the HX stomp by itself, which is another reason I went for the Simplifier. However the fizz still occurs with my Wampler Plexi Drive and Bogner Burnley. AAAAHHH. Is it the FX loops of both these devices can’t quite take the heat? Or is it the 7CM thing, as much as stereo is a great idea perhaps I need to go back to mono. Have spent a month on this set up and beyond frustrated. I’ve learned SO much but with a gig in 3 days it’s not there yet and I’m halfway between Simplifier remorse and WTF am I doing wrong?!!!! Any help or thoughts would be very much appreciated! :)

Hi there, since a few months now, I'm using my HX stomp and I love it. Yet, I'm still unsure in what speaker I should plug my new baby in. I have a Spider Jam which doesn't have any FX loop so it's a no as it is hard to have a neutral sound on this. And I have my drums amp (a Roland PM-10), which is so far the amp I'm using through the line input :-) I play mostly at home, and I'd like to have the best sound of my pedal at home, and since it has built-in amp & cabinet simulations, my understanding is that the most neutral speaker ("PA" ?) should be used, rather than a fancy amp with its own personality. I don't know how neutral my PM-10 can be, and I'm not familiar with the PA thing, so can you tell me what kind of speaker can I use to have something which doesn't level down my HX stomp ? I'd like to have get a speaker at a reasonable price, and which takes a reasonable amount of space :-) Many thanks

Hi everyone. please tell me, if you faced such problem on Hx stomp. When you connect a Strymon Timeline delay to the FX Loop, the sound becomes muddy. (loss of high frequencies) Almost all the processing pedals, which I connect via FX Loop sound much worse than in input. The patches are qualitative. I don't understand what is the problem? Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! Hope you´re doing well! I play my guitar and sing in my band and therefore I have my effects pedals on the left side and switch them with my left foot. I want the HX Stomp to be on the left side of my other pedals, so I need to put the Tap/Tuner to FS1 in order to have the rest of the switches in a row (FS2, FS3, Wah, Fuzz etc...) Is there any way to customize the tap/tuner to be on FS1 instead of FS3? Thanks a lot in advance!
