Hey guys Hope everyone is doing okay. I'm just having trouble figuring out how to get the HX Stomp to remember whether I want to use a certain patch in stomp mode or snapshot mode. ie., on one preset I want to use stomp mode, on another preset I want to use snapshot mode. Is there any way to get it to remember this per preset? Thanks so much Kind regards

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask for some help with a setup I want to achieve. I've searched the forums for my answer but haven't seen anyone want what I'm trying to do. Disclaimer - I'm not new to guitar or pedals but I am a noob with expression pedals. I want to hook up my Dunlop DVP4 mini expression pedal AND a single momentary (unlatched) button external footswitch (see attached example pic) to the HX Stomp expression jack (EXP 1/2, FS 4/5). My Goal is to use the expression for whatever I need and to set the external FS4 to toggle between stomp modes (bank, preset, snapshot, and pedals) because for some reason you can't make FS3 do this function. My question is does the HX stomp allow for this type of setup, and if so what cables do I need to get to make this happen (need to go buy them as I only have a single TRS cable at the moment). The jack can be used for both expression and footswitches but it does not mention if you can cross the two. I've confirmed my Dunlop DVP4 works well with the HX stomp so we're good there. My guess: (reminder of me being a noob with expression pedals) Looks like I need a Y Cable (TRS to two TS connections) - I was thinking this one https://ebssweden.com/content2/accessories/patch-cables-connectors/ But I do not know for sure that approach works. Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Hi, actually I'm very fond of Command Center and its flexible abilities. Though I have one issue: I have two presets between I like to switch. I have dedicated FS5 via command center to switch to the other preset (In Preset 000 FS5 switches to 001 an in Preset 001 it switches to 000) This works fine, but not the first time after startup of HX Stomp. Just nothing happens when I press the FS5 switch. When I change the preset manually for once, everything is working..... This happens on Firmware 3.10 I consider that as a bug but maybe somebody has an idea? Thanks, Marco

I have a question about HX stomp MIDI connection options. I use a wireless MIDI connection with Yamaha MDBT01 Bluetooth between HX stomp and my iPad. The iPad sends programme change commands to the stomp from the Forscore app. In addition, I want to work simultaneously on my MacBook with the HX edit, which I have connected via the other MIDI USB output. But I need this USB output to connect a Morningstar MC 6. Now my question: Can I connect the MacBook to the HX stomp in another way without using this USB output?

So I bought an hx stomp to act as an amp and cab sim as well as a few effects to fill in the gaps in missing in my board. For pedals I have a jhs double barrel, oceans 12 reverb, pog2 octaver, and I’m going to buy a boss FV-500 I just don’t know whether to get the 500H or 500L. This is my first real dive into pedal boards I’ve messed around with pedals in the past but nothing as put together as this. Coming up I’m going to be replacing the guitarist for my church and we’re in a small building so I figured it’d be best to just run an amp sim rather than mic up a cab. My question is what should my signal chain be. The effects I would be using the stomp for would be most likely a compressor and delay. Also if you guys are able to help me decide which volume pedal to go for( High impedance or Low), there’s more to that then I figured there would be. I play a Ibanez AZ series with the Seymour Duncan Hyperion pickups I believe they are passive. Thank you for any help!

Hi everyone! Recently bought studio monitors to substitute for headphones and I am getting a surprising amount of clipping at quite low volume levels. I am routing straight from HX to the monitors via TRS-XLR, with the helix also hooked up to my DAW to act as an interface. In the DAW messing around with the stock presets, they sit at a very normal volume (maybe around -15dB?), nowhere near digital clipping. But then as I output to the monitors (which are set at unity), going anywhere past 2:00 on the volume knob induces clipping in the monitor. It's not loud at all but very audible clipping. Any ideas?

Hi guys, I'm in charge of recommending multi-effect units to the manager of a big rehearsal structure. Basically, they are willing to buy gear for artists who come for residencies and studio time so they have everything available during their stay. My task is very simple : find a multi-effect unit that would suit most guitarists & bassists' needs. Easy right ? I wish it was that simple ! But I need your help. I have already started my research and the Helix HX Stomp is in pole position (best functionality/price/compacity ratio according to our budget) Now, I need to explain why it is a good option to my manager. And for this, I am listing all the potential uses that people have with it, so I'll be able to back up the purchase with solid proof :) This is where you can provide a better insight on the typical uses, because we welcome a wide range of artists coming from various genres, from the regular W&P guitarist to signed bands as well as local independant songwriters. So... Could you guys explain shortly how you use your HX Stomp ? Is it your only unit or do you use other amps/pedals with it ? is it included on a pedalboard ? What kind of patch to you create with it ? Factory patches or custom ? What does it "solve" for you ? (compact/reliable/quality tone) ? If you can take the time to briefly answer those questions, that would help me immensely in my current task and I would be grateful ! Thank you very much for your help ! Cheers

I’ve looked at the forum and seen people using the stomp as AB switch but I couldn’t my exact setup. It’s pretty simple actually. Can I use the Hx stomp to replace my AB switch? I have two guitars with an AB switch to my single effects unit. Only one guitar plays at a time. I would want to be able to plug guitar A in the left input of the stomp and guitar b into the right input. Like an AB switch, the non playing other guitar would be muted but then I could load a patch, switch guitars and so on. Is this fairly straightforward?

I really like my HX STOMP and I need a pedal to control it. I saw the Xsonic releases a new controller AIRSTEP, It's looking good! Looks like it can control a lot of things. https://xsonicaudio.com/pages/airstep Any idea for me? what about this pedal for my HX STOMP.

Hi, I am having issues connecting my Dunlop Cry Baby Wah to my HX Stomp. I have seen that this can be done, but I might be missing something. When I connect the Cry Baby directly to the Stomp, and try to assign the Wah block to the expression/FS, it doesn’t seem to work. Anyone know if this is something that can be done? I am new to connecting additional pedals to my Stomp, so I might be missing something. Thank you!

I've had a Line 6 HX Stomp for approximately a year and it's a neat little box. However today it began it randomly fluctuate in volume(often with some high-pitched static)...this seems to happen in any preset, clean, distorted, or otherwise. Has anyone experienced this issue or know of any solutions?

This probably seems like a ridiculous question, but I’m hoping for some feedback about upgrading. I’m a moderate casual guitarist (a little self recording, playing with friends) and I play indie rock and jazz styles (ie I might use delay, tremolo, sometimes light overdrive plus amp sim and reverb). I have had a original pod and then podXT for I’m guessing 15 years now (no other pedals except a VP). I have appreciated it because 1) it’s is compact and lightweight and 2) I can fiddle with settings without bending down. I can’t say I’ve ever gotten “mind blowing” sounds from podxt but considering #1 and #2 above, the sounds are decent. I have been looking at upgrading to something like the podgo or hx stomp. Here are my questions: 1) Would I notice a significant difference between the quality of tones between my Podxt and either hx stomp or podgo? I’ve looked at the specs and I understand they are much improved units. My question is more “is it appreciably noticeable?” This would really be the only really be the only reason I’d upgrade. 2) I’ve read about the stomp vs podgo and some of the difference in available blocks. My takeaway is that the go has the expression pedal and the stomp is better for use with external pedals—is that fair assessment? I try to keep my setup small so I like the smaller stomp and am not sure how much I would use the EP. 3) last one: how do you all configure your patches? Are you hunched over tweaks things on the floor unit? Like I mentioned, I have liked having the podxt on my amp because bending down is difficult for me so I’ve hesitant to upgrade. I really appreciate your help!

Hello, I am thinking to purchase the helix native plugin with a registered HX stomp. But is this plugin the full version of helix or is it like the HX stomp with maximum 8 blocks? Can i use it without connecting the HX stomp? Use my focusrite as interface? My HX stomp is on my "big" pedalboard and if this works i can leave my pedalboard at our rehearsal place more often. I can create and experiment with the helix native before i load everything on the HX stomp ;-). Thx!

Are there any known ways to minimize DSP use in the HX Stomp? For instance: Does turning trails on use more DSP? Does making more parameter changes between snapshots use more DSP? Does using a second signal path use more DSP? Does having more presets in the Stomp use more DSP? Are there any global settings that use more/less DSP?

Does the output(s) of the Powercab+ include the speaker emulation / cab / IR from the Powercab+ ? I am considering using one if it will allow me to not use a cab or IR in the HX Stomp. Having said that, would I be saving any / enough DSP when using an amp only block as opposed to an amp + cab block (or amp block and cab block) in the HX Stomp? Even when using mono blocks, I often run out of DSP after using 4-5 blocks. Ideally, I would like to have a preset such as: dist comp dist phaser amp trem delay reverb. Lastly, if the Powercab+ can send a cab or IR through its output, can it simultaneously send a speaker emulation to the speaker? Also, any general comments or advice regarding the Powercab+ would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi everyone, I'm a longtime HX Effects user, and would like to use the HXFX to control Native in the same way as I do for the hardware effects. I'm finding this very cumbersome & slow. For example, in Ableton I've had to first individually map each CC Toggle / Expression value to a "switch" in the plugin's "configure" interface, and if I want one switch to control multiple things (easy on HXFX), I have to assign it to multiple "switches" in "configure". THEN I have to map these switches to the switches inside the Helix Native plugin itself. This wouldn't be so bad if I just had to do it once, but there is seemingly no way to SAVE these mappings anywhere. So I have to continually RE-DO all this, which means it takes ~20 minutes just to insert the plugin. Is there any way to integrate HXN with HXFX better, so that the switches/expression pedals in the plugin itself are mapped (and these mappings are saved)? There's that enticing "MIDI In" indicator bottom right in the plugin, which implies there must be a way for the plugin to directly receive MIDI, but I've never figured this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi guys ! I have a question because I got really confused how Send and Return blocks work on HX Stomp. I use my HX Stomp instead of a pedalboard and I really like it. Im just curious if one other thing is possible. I want to send signal from my AMP Effects LOOP into the HX Stomp, then run the signal thorugh an IR block and then send it to the PA. So I want to do this : Guitar -> HX Stomp ( used as a pedalboard ) -> My amp input and at the same time My amp effects loop -> HX Stomp ( used for IR ) -> PA Is that possible ? If so - How can I achive this ?

Hey all, So I posted a video on my Youtube Channel showcasing 5 different high amps in the HX stomp So for all the presets, I start off with either a Hedgehog 9, a Super Overdrive or an Mintour. THe hedgehog 9 does the best job in tigthening the low end. For the Cabs, I have fallen in love with using two cabs - for all the sounds and tones in this video they are pretty much Celestion V30 Orange 2x12 IR mixed with an Orange Creamback 2 x 12 or something else. at the end of my chain, I always add a legacy room reverb, for that room ambience :) Most of these amps are on stock settings :O. With the Cali Mark IV Lead, Both Gains are on 9, Bass is 0 (have a play with going up to 2 as I have it set on 2 for lead) Mid is on 5 and Treble is 7. Then its the classic V setting which I am always fiddling with depending on my mood. Some of this info isn't in the video (like the settings on the Mark IV) Anyways here's a link:

Hey! I am helping a friend set his stomp up and he wants an external tap tempo switch. I was able to reassign button 3 and then use at TRS cable to set up the external switch but the tempo isn't responding. If I press hold, it goes to the tuner. otherwise, it goes from 0 to 8000ms if I press or let go. I have 3 switches I am trying, just in case: an MXR tap, a strymon mini and a boss Boss FS-5U (momentary) Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hey hey... In case you’d like to use and midi-control your real amp simultaneously with the HX stomp… Without audio dropouts! This seems to be finally possible with the new 3.0 update and firmware. Yay! I was actually about to sell my Stomp because that was not possible but pretty crucial to me. Thanks to Line 6 for that. Before 3.0 If I remeber right. It was only possible to midi-switch your amp's channels, when switching presets. But it was not impossible to do so when switching snapshots. Why this useful? Switching between presets can take a serious while. So you’ll get a noticeable audio dropout. Which - of course - sucks. Switching snapshots comes usually without these dropouts. Which is - of course - awesome! :D So… how to set up the HX Stomp to make this work? Here’s at least one possible way: Let’s assume you have 3 Snapshots: Footswitch 1 -> Snapshot 1 (should switch your amp to channel 1) Footswitch 2 -> Snapshot 2 (should switch your amp to channel 2) Footswitch 3 -> Snapshot 3 (should switch your amp to channel 1) Select your desired preset and switch to the Snapshot-View. Hit Page L + R to open up the menu. Select the „Command Center“. (Or in HX Edit: Window -> Command Center) Select the first „Instant 1“ Flash-Icon. Now you can specify what MIDI command should be send out when this snapshot is called. (Note: If your amp can't be controlled via MIDI, you could use something like the Nobels MS-4. That's at least what I do. At Line 6 Support: Is there meanhwile a way to directly switch relay-based amps when switching snapshots?) I stick to my setup as example: I need BankPC commands to switch the amp. PG Value 0 = Amp Channel 1 PG Value 0 = Amp Channel 2 Hit the FS 1, so it’s lit up. Select BankPC Navigate to the right. Set the Program Value to 0. To continue you don’t need to select another „Instant“. Just stick to „Instant 1“ Hit FS 2, so it’s lit up. BankPC Program 1 Hit FS 3, so it’s lit up. BankPC Program 0 Now, save you’re preset and you’re ready to go. Since it was a little confusing to me: You can add all three settings to only one „Instant 1“. Just jump in between the snapshots and just adjust the Program Value. And it’s preset-specific. (Maybe there’s a global way - but haven’t checked it yet)
