  1. I know there's a few topics already on this sort of thing but I am the ultimate n00bie when it comes to this. I was wondering how to go about recording with my HD Pro via my UX2 into my DAW, YES I realise you can record direct with the HD Pro connected via usb to the computer but I heard that you can't re-amp/change tones on the fly once the track is recorded. Here's what I tried POD HD PRO -> (14")OUTPUTS L & R -> UX2 INPUTS L & R - > UX2 -> COMPUTER(via USB) I know I'm clearly doing something majorly wrong here so any advice would be very much appreciated. I'd also like to know if you can open HD Pro Edit in your DAW or simply have to have it open outside of the DAW to record. I know these are probably otherwise stupid questions but forgive me, I'm used to recording with the simplistic luxuries of pod farm. ALSO Is there a way to record both dry and wet signals(simultaneously of course) in your DAW(mine is mixcraft 6.... I know) without connecting the HD Pro via an interface?
  2. Which Line 6 Home Recording/Practice Set-Up is Best? (For recording metal/rock music) Hey everyone, I'm just wondering if anyone has an opinion on this... It's been a while having lost all my equipment 4 years ago right when my band was very active. But right now I'm looking to get a home setup where I can easily record and practice. Nothing crazy or fancy, but something I can setup fairly quickly or take with me, but also something that will allow me to produce and record demos for my metal/nu-metal band, Caidema (http://www.facebook.com/caidemaband). I'm really interested in a direct recording But I also know that just mic'ing an amp can be much better. After a lot of research for my budget ($300) I've been looking at the Line 6 POD UX1 and the POD UX2. I'm Leaning more towards the Line 6 POD UX1 more than the other. What I'm not sure about is if if I should go with the UX1, or one of these: Line 6 POD 2.0, POD XT, or Pocket POD. All I need is to be able to plug my guitar and headphones into it (without an amplifier) and be able to practice whenever, wherever (and not lollipop off the neighbors.) I also need to be able to turn on my computer, set everything up, load up the PODfarm, audacity and record my guitar, vocals, etc. I have $300 to get what I need for the setup, required cables and wires, and microphone if possible. Down the line I'll buy more equipment, but for now I just need a simple "I live on my grandfather's couch" setup. Just not sure which one of those I should go with. OR would it be better to go with my other option: buy a 15-30w Line 6 spider amp, buy a microphone to mic the amp, and buy a different USB Audio Interface. (All for under $300 somehow) What do you guys think? Line 6 POD Studio UX1 or Line 6 POD 2.0, Line 6 PODxt, POD Pocket (Or if there is any other product I don't have listed please let me know) • Line 6 POD Studio UX1 (with Podfarm) • Line 6 POD 2.0 • Line 6 Pocket Pod (used)
  3. Hey all, first poster here, I'm part of the Strat- Talk community but now I need your help!!! A friend of mine bought her son a POD XT some years back along with a Classic Vibe Strat having seen some reviews on Strat-Talk and various websites about. She'd seen a lot of praise on both and went for it, he was 13 at the time but left everything to rot for a few years. She gave me the POD XT a week ago, great product. I've been using it through my fender amp but I now want to use it as an interface but after downloading Line 6 Monkey and getting the drivers through Monkey it still shows up as Not Connected and No drivers installed. I'm going through Mac OS 10.6.8 No matter what I do I cant get the thing to show up in monkey or my laptop. What should I do, I have no problem resetting the software on my POD. Any insight is much appreciated. FYI she lost the original box and installation discs. Thanks guys Strat-O-Holic
  4. Hello there.. I am very new to any computer recording whatsoever.I have a pc laptop. I am looking to start recording some basic guitar tracks, and then hopefully some vocals over that. I would like to do all of this from my laptop, on a fairly tight budget. I am thinking of using reaper. Does anyone reccommend Reaper? Pros/Cons? What type of interface should I use? Can i use my mk2 express as an interface? Thanks for any help....
  5. Hi guys, My recently aquired Jtv-59 won`t connect with the Usb Interface. I get the flashing red light on the VDI side of the interface. This is what I have checked: The battery is charged (i get the green leds flashing once, when I put in the compartment) I have a regular jack plugged in to the guitar as well as the VDI cable . The Firmware in the Usb Interface is 1.03 , the newest - though strangely, only my macbook will recognize what firmware is on it. When I connect to my Mac Mini it cannot see if it is up-to-date, but it will see the interface itself) I have not tried the guitar with a POD, since I only have the Desktop HD and I don`t think it supports it? (I did plug it into the cat5 connector on it, but no reaction,...) One question: When I press the modelling-knob on the guitar - should I see some light go on? I see no reaction when I press on them, perhaps the variax brain is not on? Any advice greatly appreciated! Thomas
  6. Hey Everyone, So I have an HD 500 that I use live and a marshall half stack for home use. I want to get into some home studio recording and I need a Digital Audio interface to record the way I want to. What I want to know, before I go out and buy a microphone, is can I use the mic input on my HD 500 as a digital audio interface to record my Marshall Half stack? The HD 500 has a USB out that I have recorded into Garageband lots on its own but can you record the mic input into garageband??? Thanks!!!
  7. I just saw one guy selling M-audio Fast track + podfarm locally and it made me curious. I asked him how is he selling podfarm, because it need at least iLock. And he replied that iLock isn't necessary anymore and podfarm can be used with 3rd party interfaces freely. So I checked L6 shop's podfarm page and it says: Required Hardware: Computer GuitarPort POD Studio GX POD Studio KB37 POD Studio UX1 POD Studio UX2 PODxt PODxt Live PODxt Pro TonePort GX TonePort KB37 TonePort UX1 TonePort UX2 Does it mean he's right? I bought Profire 2626 and selling my Podstudio UX2 with podfarm that was tied to it and going to buy standard licence if that's true (because I have bought Metal Shop add-on and it's my best buy ever and I haven't found better simulation).
  8. Hello Everyone, I would like some help with a connectivity problem I have with my JTV-69 and my POD HD500. Separately, both the JTV-69 talk with the Line 6 Monkey through their respective USB interfaces. The HD500 I just plug in, it gets recognized and updates to the latest versions of software/firmware. I do the same with my new JTV-69 and I follow the procedure of using the USB interface that came with the guitar. I put in the VDI end of the cable to the guitar, I put the connector end into the USB hub and run the hub line into the USB. I also put in the battery, plug in a 1/4" plug into the end to activate the battery and push on the selector knob and the light comes on. Line 6 Monkey recognizes the guitar and updates everything to the latest and greatest. The problem I have is that the HD500 VDI connection will not power the JTV-69. I positively click in both ends and I get zero power or connectivity. I also tried re-installing the battery, clicking in a 1/4" plug and turning the guitar on, but it still doesn't get recognized by the HD500. There is no signal going to the HD500 or visa versa. I've read about cable problems here, so I purchased another Line 6 VDI cable for the guitar and tried that. Same "no talkie". I also tried (2) known good ethernet cables and they didn't work either. For kicks I tested the L-Ion battery and my multimeter read over 8V. I then tested the VDI output from the HD500 and found 2 pins giving 3.15V each and 1 pin giving over 8V. I then clicked in the original VDI cable to the HD500 and tested the pin outs at the other end. I again found 2 pins with 3.15V and 1 pin with over 8V. I tried this on all of my cables and it appears they are all the same. So, have I confirmed the HD500 has a hot connection at the VDI output or should there be more pins hot? Does the problem lie with my new JTV-69 on the power circuit side since it will talk with the Line 6 Monkey and with the Variax Workbench when connected through the guitar USB interface when using the battery? Is there a procedure I missed to make the HD500 talk with the JTV-69? I did set the inputs for Channel one to Variax, then tried Variax+Guitar, and Variax+Guitar+Aux, etc., on all of the iterations and put channel 2 to "same". I tried Global and Preset (forcing the program) and got nothing. Basically, the JTV-69 will not power up or be recognized by the HD500. Here are some screen shots: On the last screen shot, I manually added the Variax and the icon showed up, but no connectivity occured. I do have the extended warranty on the JTV-69, so I could send it in for a check up...it's just a pain. Anyone have any similar experiences or any answers? Thanks for any help, Bill (carreracats)

  10. I have an old pod xt that recently stopped working. The signal from my guitar was not getting through the pod at some point. Whether before or after dsp, it won't output any sound. That being the case, I was wondering at the MIDI capabilities of the board. I know that one could use a controller(s) to control parameters inside the xt, but could one use the xt itself as a controller for another unit, whether another POD or even a computer-based processor such as Amplitude or Guitar Rig? I know the ins and outs of computer audio, I just need to know if the xt itself has the capability to send MIDI triggers to another unit, whether as to recall various presets or channels, or to turn on/off affects in a separate dsp unit. I had been looking in to MIDI controllers as it was, such as Behringer's FCB1010 and Roland's FC300, but was disappointed to learn that they don't have much ability to turn effects on or off, but only to recall presets. I am hoping that the xt has these capabilities so as to simplify the completion of my current guitar setup. My thanks. J.P.

  13. La version française. Zur deutschen Version. With the latest v2.0 update for the DT25/DT50 amplifiers, you must send MIDI parameters to the amp to change the settings such as the preamp models. Here are the links to the MIDI documentation to reference when programming your MIDI gear to send the proper parameters to control the settings of the DT series amplifiers: http://line6.com/media/dt50/DT50_MIDI_CC_Reference_v2_0_RevA_English.pdf http://line6.com/media/dt50/DT25_MIDI_CC_Reference_v2_0_RevA_English.pdf http://line6.com/media/dt50/DT_MIDIGuide_v2_0_RevA_English.pdf Using the POD HD500/HD500x to Send MIDI Parameters to the DT amplifiers You can use the POD HD500 as a MIDI controller to send MIDI CC parameters to change. Just connect the MIDI OUT from the POD HD500/HD500x to the MIDI IN on the DT amplifier with a MIDI cable. Then, go in the POD HD500/HD500x's MIDI assign screen (by holding the MOVE button for a few seconds) to assign a footswitch to send the desired MIDI parameters to change the settings on the DT amplifier. From here, you need to reference the DT amplifier's MIDI CC reference charts above to assign the proper MIDI CC to a footswitch on the POD HD500/HD500x. For example, on the DT50 amplifiers, sending MIDI CC# 11 with a value of 0-30 will change the assigned HD amp model set to any one of the voicings on Channel A of the DT50. So, if you want to change Voicing I of Channel A on the DT50 amp from the original Fender Blackface to be a Hiway 100 amp model instead, do the following: On any preset (blank or not) on the POD, go to the POD's MIDI Assign screen by holding the MOVE button for a few seconds. We suggest doing this on a blank new preset so that you can use this preset to send these MIDI messages to your DT amplifier. Let's assign Footswitch 1 (FS1) to send MIDI CC# 11 with a value of 003. Press on FS1 so that the arrow is pointing to it in the POD's screen. Turn Knob 1 to select MIDI CH: Base. Turn Knob 2 to select Message: CC. Turn Knob 3 to select CC# 011. Turn Knob 4 to select Value: 003. You can exit the MIDI Assign screen by pressing the View button once. Now, by simply pressing the FS1 footswitch, you will be sending MIDI CC# 11 value 003 to the DT50 amp which will change the Voicing I of Channel A on the DT50 amp from the original Fender Blackface to be a Hiway 100 amp model. Press the Save button once, rename the preset with the knobs below the screen, then press the Save button once again to store these settings to the POD's preset. MIDI CC#11 value 0-30 will change the HD amp model on Channel A of the selected voicing on the DT25/DT50 amp. MIDI CC#12 value 0-30 will change the HD amp model on Channel B of the selected voicing on the DT25/DT50 amp. Here are reference charts for both the DT25 and the DT50 from the MIDI Reference guide to help you set your values when programming MIDI to the switches of the POD HD500/HD500x. MIDI can be assigned to any of the footswitches of the POD HD500/HD500x EXCEPT for the Bank Up and Bank Down switches. Using MIDI OX to send MIDI parameters to the DT amplifiers You can also use MIDI OX software to send the desired MIDI messages to your DT amplifier when using a dedicated MIDI interface connected between your computer set to work with MIDI OX and the DT amplifier's MIDI IN port. In MIDI OX, click on the Send MIDI Controller Messages button to see the following window: You’ll want to use the drop down window to select the desired controller event (as referenced in the documentation above such as MIDI CC# 11 or CC#12, etc.) and then select the value on the right (as in the previous example above, value of 0-30, etc.) then, hit the Send button to send that MIDI message to the DT amplifier. Notice the text by the numbers which are simply part of the standard MIDI spec. These descriptors are irrelevant for the DT amps – again, just look for the number that correlates to the DT parameter you want to send. It also may be confusing that the numbers are not listed sequentially. If you wanted to change the preamp for the current Voicing of channel A you would select number 11 (labeled expression in the MIDI OX drop down) and number 3 (if you wanted to load the Hiway 100 model for example) using the up/down buttons in the field labeled Value. Hit send and the current Voicing on Channel A should be the Hiway 100.
