  1. English: The POD HD500X does not have the ability to connect to the Variax Workbench software (v1.75 and older). Development for NON-HD Variax Workbench software has ceased meaning functionality with the POD HD500X will not be added. Please use another VDI-equipped device for Workbench 1.75 and older, as spelled out on the Variax Workbench release notes at www.Line6.com/software: Works with: James Tyler Variax POD HD Pro POD HD500 POD X3 Live POD X3 Pro PODxt Live Variax Variax 300/600 Variax Acoustic Variax USB Interface Vetta II Combo Vetta II Head Français: Le POD HD500X ne peut pas connecter au logiciel Variax Workbench. 2. I have a JTV-89 (korean - stoptail) running 2.0 firmware. Strung with DR Pure blues 9's. I don't play metal so this isn't the classic palm muting scenario, but I just have a habit of resting my hand across the bridge saddles when I play (pick or fingers). This results in the occasional pop and click at random when the modelling is turned on. I am not actively putting pressure on the saddles, it's just a comfortable place to rest hand that developed over years of sitting on a couch with a les paul. The further away I keep my right hand from the bridge the less it happens but it's still annoying. I have tried lowering the global string volume to -3db and -6db but neither made the problem go away. Are the piezos that sensitive to direct downward pressure? Any info would be helpful. Problem number 2: I'm a bass player. Problem number 3: I like to occasionally slap/pop on a guitar as if I would on a bass. The modeling system REALLY doesn't work with this technique. The mags work fine. Again, I suspect it is an issue of the direction of the force. All the modelling seems to pick up are the harmonics, very little fundemental and no attack. It is an interesting phenomenon to me because I have an NS CR4 electric upright wich also uses a piezo system but has a variable control for how the system deals with attack (bowed or pizz). Since guitars largely aren't designed for this sort of anything perhaps there should be no expectation that in the future this would be a consideration but I wouldn't complain as I like using bass techiques on guitar from time to time.
  3. We're looking at adding a couple DT-25's to our stage rig and are curious if it's possible to get good acoustic voicing through the DT-25's? Or, is the DT-25 pretty much just an electric guitar amp? We use JTV-59's and do acoustic and electric guitar voicing in the same set (currently run direct to FOH). Thanks in advance. GT
  4. I have a JTV-69 that I purchased from Sweetwater on 8/18/13. I have another thread where I have described problems I am having with ghost notes in alternate tunings. I have to decide in the next few day whether or not I am going to: 1. Return the guitar - get a refund. 2. Swap out my guitar for another JTV. 3. Keep current guitar and wait for Line 6 to come up with a fix. Here is my question. Who out there has a JTV that they feel works perfectly? (both the models and especially the alternate tunings) Your feedback will help me with my decision. Also, if you want to chime in pro/con with your experiences with Line 6 support, that would be helpful - especially if I choose option #3. Thanks again! Steve
  5. Anyone heard of installing a kill switch on a JTV? I would think the easiest would be to tap into a lead on the magnetic pickups. But where to drill? Just wondered if anyone had done it successfully and beg them for tips.
  6. I've have a JTV-69 and a HD500 that are both about 2 years old. There seems to be some kind of bug this behavior is only when I'm using the VDI cable (doesn't happen with 1/4"). So often I will do this sequence of events: Turn the volume down on the JTV-69 Press and hold the "Tap" button on the HD-500 to switch to the tuner Turn the volume up on the JTV-69 Tune the guitar Turn the volume down on the jtv-69 Press the "Tap" button on the HD-500 to leave tuner mode bump the strings, make a lot of noise, because for some reason my guitar is up 100% even though the knob is set to 0. turn the tuner slightly back up and down to 0. Now it is actually set to 0 Please note that this happens on patches that have no variax settings configured (I.e. tuning, volume/tone settings, models, etc. and the tuner is set to mute on my HD500 at all times. Can anyone else confirm this is a bug? If so is there away to submit it to L6? It's annoying as crap, because even though I'm aware of this behavior. I get burned by it. I'm usually playing at an event and will be tuning while there is someone speaking, or while something else is going on, and a random guitar noise is pretty annoying for everyone else involved. Thanks!
  7. Ater using the HD upgrades for a couple weeks now, I am generally very happy with the improvements in sound. However, I do find that the Semi models lack the mid-range punch of a semi-hollow guitar like the 335. I do not remember how the earlier firmware sounded like but I do not recall not liking the models before. I feel that now the bridge pickup version of the Semi sounds better than the neck pickup. FYI, I am using same amps before and after the HD upgrade. Anyone has similar observation?
  8. I hear its true that the new series of 2013 JTV's have the previous issues fixed? Is This true? IE? Is the switching problem fixed on the JTV-59? The neck on the 69? Thanx
  9. thanks to Mark Vlach, Vettaville.nl offers an updated Workbench HD / JTV referencechart for download. http://www.vettaville.nl/page.php?id=84#1317 Hope it helps cheers - Hans

  12. Has anyone mod-ed their JTV 69 with locking nuts? Any thoughts if this is worthwhile?
  13. Hi guys, I'm a little confused about the bridge color of the JTV. I found several pictures with 'chrome' or 'black' bridges, but I can't find the difference in the models. Even on the model description page there are different colors: http://line6.com/jtv-89/seehear/photos http://l6c.scdn.line6.net/data/6/0a06434d71474f716fea4f466/image/jpeg/file.jpeg http://l6c.scdn.line6.net/data/6/0a06434d74a44f7170d9b46e9/image/jpeg/file.jpeg I prefer the black bridge. If it's a model update, that would be perfect :-) Thank you for your help.
  14. The repair shop lost the AC adapter for my JTV-69 battery charger! (In addition to only fixing the modeling section and not the magnetic pickup problems). Anyhow, does anyone know or can you put a multi-meter on the output of the AC adapter that plugs into the battery charging cradle and tell me the voltage, polarity and estimated current draw? Thanks!
  15. I have a new JVT-69, and just updated to the latest firmware (1.9) -- and when the process was finished, the LED on my Model Selector knob was glowing green. Unplugging the guitar from the VDI cable and plugging it back in changed the LED to white. So, does anyone have a list of what the different LED colors/flashes indicate? I've read the manual a couple of times, and see where it changes depending on if you're doing the virtual capo thing, but nothing about a green indicator.
  16. James Tyler Variax v 1.8 Update The free v1.8 update gives all James Tyler Variax modeling guitars five next-generation acoustic guitar models based on celebrated 6- and 12-string acoustics from Martin, Guild and Gibson. If you play your JTV with a POD HD500 or POD HD Pro multi-effect processor, the v1.8 update also includes enhanced functionality to make your JTV/POD HD experience even more intuitive and powerful. *Please note that Line 6 Monkey v1.53 is required to update your JTV to this latest version of the flash memory. Please go over the following Line 6 Monkey FAQ for compatibility. Next-generation Models: New modeling technology. Our new breakthrough acoustic guitar modeling technology gives the five models breathtaking depth and detail, capturing the subtle nuances of string vibration through the soundboard and the tonewoods of the original modeled guitar body. Five updated models. The updated models are based on* the Martin D28, Martin D12-28, Martin 0-18, Guild 12 String, and Gibson J200 acoustic guitars. Known Issue Unable to save alternate tunings to the Acoustic Models within the Variax Workbench program. Workaround: Use the Alternate tunings on the guitar to use the Acoustic Models with an alternate tuning. For custom alternate tunings, you would need to create and save your own custom tunings to the Alternate tuning knob, and still use that knob to alter the tunings of the Acoustic Models. Downgrading your JTV from 1.81 to 1.71 If after installing the 1.8 update you decide that you would prefer to return to the original models you may want to downgrade your firmware to version 1.71. However, should you choose to downgrade to 1.71 you will be trading off the deeper integration over VDI with the POD HD family.
  17. *NOTE: Any customization/modification performed will void the warranty if it results in damage to the guitar. JTV-59 JTV-69 JTV-89
  18. When using a James Tyler Variax Guitar with a PODxt Live, POD X3 Live, or X3 Pro, the POD presets will not recall Variax models as originally saved with a Variax 300, 500, 600, or 700 electric guitars.? You would need to re-save your presets with the desired model with the James Tyler Variax plugged in. When attempting to set the Variax model with a JTV guitar using a POD X3 Live/Pro and GearBox 3.72 software, you will experience a condition where the "Don't Force Model" message appears and will not allow for you to save Variax Model associations to your X3 Live/Pro patch. The current workaround is to save JTV model associations manually (without GearBox open) after you've performed any GearBox-related patch edits/organization. This behavior does not exist with POD HD500 via HD500 Edit; only with the older X3 Live/Pro (GearBox) editing scheme. We apologize for the inconvenience to JTV and X3 Live/Pro owners wishing to use the software editing aspect for Variax model-X3Live/Pro patch associations at this time.
  19. For touring James Tyler Variax owners: Lithium cell and battery transportation is regulated in both the United States and the international community. When using a freight company to transport your gear, we suggest that you disclose to the freight company that your guitar has a Lithium-ion battery in it.
