  1. Hello, I was thinking about buying a JTV69 one day and try and convert it to a Bass VI by replacing the stock neck with a Warmoth Baritone Conversion neck (28.625 scale length) and changing the strings to a much heavier gauge (19-82's. Maybe even heavier depending on preference). The question I'm wondering is it this possible or would I have to go through extensive modding or is it just not possible at all? I'm not worried about anything about the neck (including nut and tuners) since I already am gonna replace it. One thing I found might be an issue and am worried about is when looking up pictures online of the bridge assembly, I'm worried an 82 gauge string would sit ON TOP of the piezo pickup because of how thick the string is and how narrow of a spacing the piezo pickup/bridge gives, and thus wouldn't detect any movement of the string and not work.
  2. Hello, I'm absolutely new to the POD HD500X and Variax JTV69s. No matter if i plug the guitar in with the Variax Digital Input (VDI) or the 1/4" guitar Input and listen in headphones from the POD it sounds really bad. All dist sounds are razor sharp digitally and unpleasant and not very much difference when switching sounds either, only more or less dist and bass/treble. I'm not 100% sure if my output is Studio/Direct (have to check that tonight) but everything is default as i i just bought the POD. Maybe i should change the JTV69s to a regular JTV69 or 89 instead? I tried connecting it to computer with USB and it sounded just as bad and i also got 1/2 sec delay on everything (headphones in the POD). Would it be better to connect the POD analogue out to an external soundcard like the PreSonus Audiobox iTwo or Scarlett 2i2 and use external monitors for listening? I'm living in an apartment so i can't use a real amp/speaker. Thanks
  3. Hey everyone, I was leading a rehearsal last night and was having some weird problems with my JTV. I use a Helix currently and earlier in the day had tweaked a couple patches and tried a few different guitar models, all with good results. I was however just using a 1/4 cable in my office. At rehearsal I switched over to the VDI to make sure my battery wouldn't die from playing a lot during the day and noticed a few different things: - Tuning - With the VDI cable, I was unable to get the guitar in tune. The tuner on the Helix looked fine, even just listening with my ears and the volume down sounded fine. But with the volume on (models and mags I think) the tuning was all over the place. Couldn't play a chord without sounding strange - EQ/Frequency/Phasing? - With the VDI I was also noticing that none of the sounds I had programmed were anywhere close to what I had worked on. I'm used to this a little bit with going from headphones to a floor wedge (through PA) but I could not believe how awfully different it was last night. It sounded as if I had no lows, extremely bright highs and a thin sound. After about a half an hour, I got fed up and grabbed a 1/4 in. cable (should've done sooner). All the problems were gone! I had my sounds back that I had been happy with. Has anyone had a similar issue? Upon a quick visual inspection, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the VDI and it shouldn't be the guitar if it all works well through the 1/4 in jack. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
  4. I am selling my beautiful black JTV-69S. I love the smooth tremelo, the comfortable play-ability and, of course, the awesome Variax tones! I also have a JTV-59 that just seems like a better fit for me, so I've decided to sell the 69S. Please see the attached photos of the actual guitar for sale and take a minute to view the listing over at reverb.com: https://reverb.com/item/581960-line-6-jtv-69s-james-tyler-variax-sss-black PM me if you have any questions or need more details - thanks!

  6. Hello all, I am the owner of a new JTV69S in shoreline gold-very happy with it. However I cannot get it to show in Workbench HD, it appears to see the guitar, then starts to load the presets and after the first one it immediately gives the error as shown in the attached picture: One or more presets failed to load from the guitar. (Code 8000000a) Operation timed out. Curiously Workbench also shows it as a JTV59 which it isn't. I am connecting via the the supplied USB interface and both lights are on green, using the latest version of all relevant software. Guitar shows up in L6 Monkey just as "Tyler Variax" and is on the latest V2 HD firmware. Using an i5 iMac with OSX Mavericks loaded 10.9.1. The guitar itself seems to work fine on its own. Any clues? Thanks Pete
  7. Hi My Name is Don I'm a Line6aholic Help Me, I'm addicted to Line 6 and the buy it now button at American musical and zzounds.com and it doesn't help that they both offer the payment plan that makes it even worse. It all started way back with the first flextone, I fell in love with it. I thought it was the best amp I ever played out of. Then I moved on to the flextone 3 and thought I would never buy another amp again. But of course Line 6 had to put out the DT50. So what did I do? you guessed it... Then I had to get the HD500 oh and don't forget the JTV69s to complete my dream rig. Now you would think I would stop there but noooo... I bought the Relay g30 wireless for all my other guitars, "don't get me started there"... well now that I had the dream rig I figured what the hell I need a new PA so what did I do buy it now, buy it now, and of course buy it now. Had to get the L3T just to see if that would work for my dream rig plus vocals and acoustic but is one enough? Two is always better. You know where it goes from here the Stagescape M20d now I have the dream stage although I haven't sprung for the subwoofers yet , crap why did I bring that up... Now my new addition is the HD Pro X. Now it's like I'm waiting with bated breath to get the next email from Line 6 telling me about the next addition to my Line 6 inventory. I do love Line 6 and it never lets me down, it gets better and better all the time... Thanks Line 6
