  1. I have a Toneport KB 37 and a Zoom R37 and virtual DJ to perform live music on a podcast stream. My plan is to run VLC media player on another computer and KB 37 to add an electric guitar with some sort of tone on the main computer. Both this should be input channels to Zoom R24 and than have the R24 as main input to Virtual DJ. I notice though that the zoom doesn get into the windows sound system in control panel. Is this because i had the toneport first? Is there a workaround? I like to add guitar and song to someone else playing bass on a stream. Sincerely Strixnebulosa
  2. A few months ago, I got a new microphone and preamp and did a handful of recordings though my old TonePort KB37. The preamp has a balanced TRS output and an XLR output, so I connected it with a balanced TRS cable to the KB37's Line 1 input. Because I just wanted a dry vocal signal, I didn't install Pod Farm or any of that stuff, just the driver. Recently, I've switched to recording on my POD HD500X. To record dry vocals, I just switch on the tuner (in bypass mode) or use an empty preset. However, I noticed that my recordings sounded very different. So, I did some side-by-side comparisons. I also tested the Mic input on the KB37. What I found out is that everything sounds exactly the same except the KB37's line input. I've attached some samples for comparison (the HD500X recording was connected with a TRS cable via the Aux input). Is there any explanation as to why the line input on the KB37 sounds this way? Can I fix it? Should I redo all of those recordings? Here are the samples: KB37 Mic Input: mic.mp3 KB37 Line Input: line.mp3 HD500X Aux Input: hd500x.mp3
  3. Apologies if this in the wrong forum but I couldn't find one that deals specifically with my problem. I have a KB37 which I have been using for quite a few years now. It has recently stopped working with phantom-powered mics. It works for a while with dynamic mics but then it starts showing a false signal on the input and producing a crackling sound with the mic1 or mic2 input selected. If I switch phantom power on it immediately stops mic1 and mic2 from working and the crackling gets much louder. The only way to stop it seems to be to restart it and then it works OK for a while on un-powered mics but starts crackling after a while. Once the crackling starts building up it also appears on the line inputs (sometimes!!) I have had the unit for a long time but do rely on it. I can't afford to send it back to L6 as I guess it would cost quite a lot to get it fixed. I have seen this fault (or similar) in other posts but have never seen a solution. Does anyone know how to dismantle the unit and have any suggestions as to how I could overcome this please? Many Thanks DavidC
  4. Hi there, I've been using a TonePort KB37 for a while, but I have recently upgraded in MIDI controllers. I am hoping to sell my KB37, but have the following concerns for a prospective buyer: As the product was previously licensed/activated by me, will another user have any issues authenticating it on their own system? (It is just the controller, with none of the special model packs.) Thanks, john
  5. Hello, I'm having a bit of a problem with my KB37, and though it may end up being more than a Windows problem than a TonePort problem, I figured I would ask here anyway. Essentially, I have been using the KB37 as an audio controller for my laptop ever since I bought the thing. The only recent change would be that I updated the driver. Since that, however, something really strange has been happening. When I use Reason to record or playback files, everything works fine. I can record into the KB37 and hear everything coming out of it. For everything other than Reason (system sounds, internet browsers, other applications), nothing works. The speaker icon in the bottom right corner (on Windows 7, by the way) has a small red circle with an "x" through it. When clicked, it automatically brings up the troubleshooting window, saying that the "audio device is disabled." Naturally, I went to the control panel, and under "playback," the KB37 has a green checkmark and seems functional. When double clicked, it says that the device is enabled, but that there is "no jack information available." Here's where it gets weird. Back in the sound panel under the "recording" tab, the internal mic is instead selected. When I check the properties of the KB37 here, it again says that no jack information is availble, but it is still enabled. However, when I click the "listen" tab in the properties window, "Listen to this device" is unchecked and playback is set to default. If I try to check the box and switch playback to the KB37, it will not let me press OK or Apply. The buttons aren't grayed out, but nothing happens when they are pressed. I have already attempted restarting the computer, unplugging the KB37 and plugging it back in, uninstalling the driver and starting from scratch, and yet nothing seems to work. I have looked at various message boards for similar problems, but every solution is different and no solutions have worked for me yet. Help would be very much appreciated. Thanks so much.
  6. Hello, My 2009 KB37 has two keys (low Ab and A) that always play midi tones as if the key was played hard. So pretty much every time I press the key at a given velocity it SOUNDS the midi patch as if I played it with force. Seems like a simple mechanical problem or perhaps a dirty connector on those keys? Probably not under warranty and overall the keyboard is perfect for me but would rather not pay for repair if I can open it up and maybe clean something per your suggestions. Please help if you can. many thanks
  7. Every time I try to install the latest driver for my KB37 on OSX running Mavericks, it seems to install ok, HOWEVER, when I restart my machine and open Monkey again, it doesn't recognize the new drivers it just installed, and therefore cannot detect my KB37. Screenshot is attached.
  8. i have read and applied all the other posts but still not working... using win 7. I have installed licence manager, monkey and drivers but no success! need a little help thanks
  9. Hello, I bought used kb37 to record guitar, bass and vocal. I use macbook pro 2012 mid and OS version is 10.9.1(Mavericks), Garageband version is v10. But I have not record anything yet because of popup noise when I connect guitar via toneport kb37 on garageband. I installed latest software like monkeys, gearbox and pod farm2 and I changed audio input/output setup to toneport kb37. I can hear guitar sound on garageband but also can hear pop up noise to play and record. I'd like to solve this problem. Thanks.
  10. I switched all my gear over to Mac tonight and wish I never did. All of it was working fine on my PC. The only problem was how slow it ran. Anyways, I reinstalled Reason 7.0.1, authorized it, got Pod Farm back with it's Monkey, set all my preferences and all was well. Then I checked to see if the Monkey had any updates for me. The drivers and the USB firmware updated just fine. Then when I got to the Flash Memory, my KB37 shut down. All I got was the clip lights blinking back and forth. So, I tried again as instructed; unplugging it when prompted and got the same result a couple of times. I tried one last time and am now stuck with the level needles pushed as far passed max as they could go and mostly all the octave select lights red (-3 isn't lit at all and the middle light is green). I need some help. I have almost spent all my money on this equipment and really can't afford to replace any of it. I have the extended warranty thingy for it but i'm not too sure what coverage it includes. I read some other forums when folks had similar issues with updating. I just don't know if that's what my problem is. Please help if some of this sounds familiar or you just know what i can do. Thanks.
  11. Ok, so I have noticed that the right Analog Out channel on my Toneport KB37 puts out a little bit more than the left side. I tried switching the studio monitors (KRK Rokit 5s) and I tried switching cables and everything. I made the right output go to the left speaker to see if it was the right Analog Outputs fault, and it was. You can only tell when the master output is only up a notch, you will hear noise out of the speaker connected to the right analog out before you hear it from the left. You can't really tell once the volume is up a bit, but it still bothers me. Any suggestions?
  12. Hi there! I have absolutely loved my KB37 for quite some time now, but recently, since upgrading my OS to Windows 8 from Vista, my computer will crash to a blue screen, stating thatthis: system_thread_exception_not_handled (L6KB3764.sys) was the problem...any suggestions? I have tried to re-install, looked for updates, and nuthin! Cheers, Sect23
  13. Hey guys, So i've had problems with my kb37 ever since I got it. First random shut downs then drop out of sounds with the guitar etc. To no avail i fixed them and so forth. This one i just cannot seem to make go away. Any time im playing recording or jamming or What ever! My Kb37 Kind of "Crashes" The sound of my guitar etc does not crash i can still hear my guitar if i play but it kind of freezes my computer and puts it in a state to where if i even try to play a video it will not play back the video or sound. I can open up Itunes and it will freeze my Itunes. I will thus try to shut down and will get Waiting for Windows to shut down Waiting for Log off sound to be played Making me have to hold down my power button to cut my pc off.
  14. So yesterday everything was working fine or rather this morning around 2am EST Now it is around 4pm est and i plugged up my guitar i usually ALWAYS keep my kb37 plugged into my laptop and never have had a problem I noticed my guitar was making a poping sound automaticly thinking it was the wires in the input where you connect the wire to your guitar i unscrewed it and checked it out. Unsure i put it all back together and tried another guitar and it did the same thing. So i thought it was the wires i have 3 wires and tried all 3 and the same thing happened for everything knowing it couldnt be the wires as 2 of the wires I Have never used with the Kb37 or never touched since i got them there could be nothing wrong with them as one of them was fairly new When playing i experience a popping or click noise every few seconds, then a drop out of sound like it had lost connection to my pc but it didn't. Clip lights never flashed or turned on. I assume its either the pod of my pc. my pc is going through some issues right now thinking that it could be the case but im not sure. *Issues with pc include ***stuck on "Waiting for page ()" sometimes having to shut down*** now also note that this does not happen when i use my kb37 as a sound card for my pc to say listen to music with speaker monitors i do not have drop outs. Only while using my guitar and PODfarm2 *Edit I've notice through songs i can hear the same pop sound but no drop outs.
  15. I had a IMac, digidesign protools mbox, and KB37 with toneport gearbox for several years now. My IMac crashed, lost all my songs, and info is un-retrievable. So.. I bought a Presonus audio box with studio one and a new PC with windows7 32 bit I want to continue using my KB37 but it's several years old, it has the old version of gearbox before pod farm came out. Is there anyway to get this thing compatible with windows 7 and upgrade to podfarm? I loved the sound I got with the toneport and how easy it was to get a nice sound. I'm pretty tec dumb so any help would be greatly appreciated. So in short, I have an old KB37 circa 2008 or 2009, I would love to update to work with studio one on windows 7. Or am I out of luck? Thank you for any responses
  16. Hi, I just bought a KB37. And I'm happy. But I try for 3 days to go in control panel. In vain. The message is "Error starting TonePort KB37 Control Panel Applet. I am on Macbook pro, 10.6.8. I downloaded all the updates via line6 monkey. Everything seems alright. But the control panel is un findable. Is someone able to help me ? Thank you. Nyssen
  17. Hi everyone,i use KB37 as my recording interface, and as we all know you have to run "pod farm2" first to get it sounds. It was all fine before i change to mac osx 10.7.5,i try to launch pod farm2 right after i start my mac mini, but it's still says"another instance of pod farm2 is currently running",and i'm 100% sure i got every program off.A little help ,please??
  18. Hi, I'd really like to know if anybody has had any joy with the above combination (tried the Steinberg forum too)... I've had some luck with the transport commands in Reason for digidesign ( an old M-Box cd ) so I know I have Midi signal, and my cubase transport bar shows midi in when I press any transport keys, so I know I'm connected at least. I've been checking out the manuals of course, Line6 and Cubase, but still no joy. I'm assuming midi is midi ,and you could map the KB37 to any DAW if you know what you are doing. If someone could even confirm or deny this that would also help, Thanks in advance, Tom.
  19. Hi, I am new to this forum, although not to Line 6, my pod beats my mesa dual rec for good tone at reasonable volumes... Anyhow, I'm after a KB37 now, I feel it would be the answer to a good portable computer recording setup, and have a couple of fundamental questions, as it will replace my pod 2.0 if I buy it. 1 - The Latency Killing Tonedirect Monitoring... is the tone hardware based i.e. is it generated/contained in the KB37,as it is in my Pod, and merely controlled from the computer, or is it contained in the software, like pod farm(i'm aware pod farm is shipped with it, too), and output from the computer to the KB37? In short, is there a pod inside the KB37? 2- Are there any keyboard, synth or drum sounds contained inside the KB37(is it also a sound module)? I have seen it described as a midi keyboard, and also a midi controller, google hasn't helped me with these questions, so I'm turning to anybody here for help, and thanks in advance, Tom. P.S. I have seen a KB37 for sale with no discs, and the advertiser reckons I could simply download everything from line6.com,no Problem.. Is he full of it, and doing this would be more hell than its worth, or could I really renew all the software here without any problems or extra cost? I would like my KB37 to be completely legitimate when I am done.
  20. For those getting started with a POD Studio GX/UX1/UX2 device and following through the Ableton Live Lite 7 tutorial, there has been some inquiries of confusion regarding page 5/12 in the starting tutorial. There is reference to the Line 6 Audio-MIDI Controller Mapping preferences menu page; if you continue reading down the tutorial, you'll see that this particular section refers to setting up a Line 6 KB37 (UX2 + MIDI keyboard controller) for Ableton MIDI CC mapping assignment. The POD Studio GX/UX1/UX2 is not a MIDI controller device whatsoever; the only two parameters that appear in the Audio-MIDI menu are for Footswitch 1 & 2 assignments only. The inclusion of this content is specific to KB37 owners wishing to try out Live Lite 7. We apologize for any confusion in the documentation to POD Studio GX/UX1/UX2 new users.
