  1. My current setup (which I use for shows at mid to large sized venues) is pod go with an epiphone thunderbird and a headrush frfr112 but it sounds much better when I plug my bass directly to the speaker. I have created a bass rig and it sounds great but still not as good as the direct input from my bass. Am I missing something related to the global eq or some other settings because I never faced these problems as a lead guitarist but recently I’ve made the switch and I’m kind of convinced that the pod go is just not meant for the bass. Any suggestions appreciated
  2. Looking for a bit of direction please. We have a small gig coming up that will be my first with my PodGo and my HeadRush 112. I assumed that I would simply run PodGo "out" with cab emulation to the PA, and then PodGo "amp out" with cab emulation to my FRFR(headrest 112) for monitoring/stage sound. I read an article that suggested I should turn off cab emulation for my FRFR. This doesn't make any sense to me as, I would think I want all of the PodGo tone to be heard on stage. I appreciate any insights and tips others may have on this. Thanks.
  3. Hi fam, I'm quite a noob with all this gear, I never really had the money for them but since working a full time job I've been able to buy myself a Helix LT and now I have an RC 505 (only 3 days ago). I need help though. I want to use my Helix LT as my main Audio Interface, but I would like to connect my RC 505 and my Shure sm58 for my vocals either via return 1 of my LT or the mic input for the RC505. I use Reaper as my main DAW for when I stream (I just started twitch streaming a few months ago and am really enjoying the community there while I practice my songs). My current Setup: Guitar into LT, LT to RC 505 via jack. Mic into RC505. RC 505 being used as USB interface into PC/DAW. What I dont like about it: I have my own presets that I really like on my LT for both my mic and guitar. So having my voice in the RC 505, although sounds good, not as good as i want it for my ears. There is also this annoying thing where I can't figure out how to turn off the monitoring sound and only listen to the playback (so I am consistenly hearing dual tones). I've played around with USB in and USB out levels, but both completely take away the sound that goes into my DAW). My Thinking for Next setup LT as interface into PC/DAW. Use Return 1 for Mic in first chain. Guitar Input on second chain. RC 505 connected via Midi to LT. Now I'm not sure if this will work properly, I know I can then control the RC505 with a footswitch if I go this route but what about the sound? Would I also need to connect the LT and RC505 via jack (LT jack output into RC 5050 jack inputs) on top of the MIDI cables? Would I then still be able to control the Track effects of the RC505 for transitions etc? Any advice for someone who is getting into live perfomances as a solo artist would be appreciated! NOTE: I am also looking at buying a Akai mk3 mini in the near future. Thanks fam.
  4. No question. The HX Stomp is an amazing piece of hardware and the sounds are fantastic. Still, I struggle with using the pedal. Mainly I want to use the HX Stomp in a live situation. The stomp has its place on my pedalboard. But I am often unsure. Is the HAX Stomp now active or not? If I use several effects in a chain I still only have 2 switches. How can I be sure that effects in the chain which are not assigned to a switch are switched off? I thought ok, snapshots are a good idea. The problem is, I can unfortunately only switch between the snaphsots. I can't turn a snaphsot on and off. So I need snapshot1 for a signal with all effects switched off to be sure that I have a pure signal. Effects are then assigned to Snapshot 2 + 3. That seems like a waste to me. What experiences have you had? How do you solve these problems in a live situation? Have I overlooked something? Thank you for your help. Best regards Christoph
  5. Hi there. I have a Helix Floor, an sm-58 and an FRFR Headrush 108. have a gig coming up playing some 80's power ballads, with a questionable sound person : we have 3 vocalists in the bare minimum power trio + singer band. I know that you can have parallel paths for guitar/microphone. My question is, from experience, what can I do to simplify the sound person's job, and make my on-stage experience better. For example: 1. Should I mix in my vocals into the signal that goes to the FOH 2. Not mix in my vocals, but run my mic through the chain and out the FRFR 3. In general, what should I provide as outputs: e.g.: left XLR is vocals and right XLR is guitar? Just wondering what works. In theory, I know my options, but in practice, that's another story. Thanks in advance.
  6. can new variax models (such JT/ Standard/ Shuriken) run properly on PODxt Live? are they fully compatible? thanks.
  7. Hi, I use a HX Stomp for several months for professional use and I really like it. I built a external footswitch to change presets (FS4-5) and I'm using the HX Stomp in Snapshot Mode, that's great ! But... My problem : when I play in live conditions, I'm not that precise and I often step on 2 footswitches instead of the right one, so it open the bank of presets, which is really (really!) not confortable before a solo!... My question : is there a way to disable that function? I mean, keeping the control of snapshots with the footswitches but nothing else. I can't find anything in the Global settings... If not, is there a way to submit this idea to Line 6, and hoping they include it in a next firmware? By creating a petition or something like that... :) Thanks for your help! PS : "be precise" is not an valid answer ;)
  8. Anyone else notice a significant difference between the following: - Recorded Helix playback - ie guitar track recorded by helix, into software and then played back - And live playing ie just playing into helix (not recording), sound coming out of speaker Both of the above use the same amplification (powercab set to FRFR) I noticed scenario one sounds much better! Sidenote: when i use my variax I always prefer the recorded playback to the sound I get when playing live. Anyone else experienced anything similar. It is frustrating as the tone I want is provided via the recorded playback - not so keen the live sound i'm getting. If any of the above makes sense i'd appreciate some help. Thanks, Dave
  9. Hey, i recently got my HX STOMP, I play bass (metal band) and the way i have it set it up in my preset is i split crossover the signal into a high freq and a low freq. I added a compressor into the low freq chain and thats it, and into the high freq i use distortion and a cab sim. My question is: Can i send a signal to my cab (without the cab sim) for stage fill and a signal with the cab sim on to the FOH (that would be my main sound) Thanks a lot!
  10. Yo, Helix brainiacs! I miss the days of wirelessly connecting to the Firehawk for editing during live performances. Could actually get some crazy effects by tweaking the delay parameters in the middle of a trail , and other cool stuff. And there's a bunch of other reasons for live use of the editor that i'll spare you. As for the foot control- g'head , but it doesn't work as well as a tablet or laptop for me. I've been researching and coming up with zip- any suggestions for wirelessly connecting laptop to the USB -B on the Helix ? Otherwise , i'll stick to my 10 foot USB cable. Thanks
  11. Hi all, This will hopefully be a very simple question (: I just got my helix, I'm new to the digital/modeling world and am used to the very simple guitar > pedalboard > amp setup for gigs. Obviously I searched for tutorials and videos but couldn't find anything clear enough for me to understand, so please explain to me like a 5 year old- How do I connect my helix straight to FOH for playing live (no cabs/amp or anything)? Thanks!
  12. I recently purchased a Headrush FRFR112 to use live with my Helix LT. I want to use the FRFR112 for stage volume, and the way I used it this weekend was: XLR-out from Helix to XLR-in on the FRFR112, then XLR-out of FRFR112 to FOH. My dilemma is that once my level is set in sound check, if I need to tweak the volume on either the Helix or the FRFR112, it messes up the mix. What's the best way to route everything so that I control my own stage volume without affecting FOH? Do I route one Helix output to the FRFR112, and the other to FOH? How are all of you doing this?
  13. I have been using a Pod X3 Live for about 4 years. It was bought 2nd hand so its well out of date now, and parts cannot be easily obtained in the UK. Last year the power supply went down totally and my techie boffin pal rigged up a workaround, because the parts to reinstate it were not available. He did warn me that it may not be economic to repair again and would probably blow again. Anyway it suddenly stopped dead and went blank a week ago, admittedly after I had been perhaps over-enthusiastically wa-wa-ing, (which might be a clue?). I smelled burning so something shorted out. My boffin pal had a look and tells me its all powering up OK, and there is no obvious burned out part visible, but there is no audio output at all! Its probably bound for the scrap heap to be replaced by a second hand HD500X off ebay, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if there might be a simple fix for this? My immediate thought is either that the sound output power supply (on the board?) has blown, or its something to do with the expression pedal failing. A second question is whether I will be able to load in my setups via Gearbox into the HD500X? I think so, but nobody I have asked knows for sure. It would be so great not to have to reinvent the wheel!
  14. Hi! So I'm about to buy an Helix Rack, that I'm gonna use live and at rehearsals with my "modern metal" band (Architects, BMTH, Deftones type of sound..). I'm looking for the best FRFR speaker I could get for this usage between 300€ to maximum 400€. I already looked for the Mackie Thump15, Headrush 112 and ALTO speakers, and heard good and bad things about these but struggle to find good feedbacks from users with a similar situation/need. What would you recommend? Any help would be appreciated! ps: also, what would be the most suited speaker diameter? 10, 12 or 15"?
  15. Hi there, I have been trying to figure how to change setlists/patches/snapshots with midi through ableton live. Having read the manual and had an extensive look here/online, I could gather that: Change a Setlist - CC32 - to whichever is needed Change a Patch - PC - to the relevant one Change a snapshot - CC69 - to the relevant snapshot The ultimate aim is that I run backing tracks through Live (as of up to now I have been running scenes for each song in session view) And can leave the Helix offstage, but having some issues. So I have been creating a midi clip under the audio track needed in arangemenrt view. As the setlist needed was the first one, I had not input anything CC32 wise, I had input the PC as the relevant patch, and then in the envelope, selected 69 and drawn a line between 0 and 3 to trigger the relevant snapshot as the track moves on through. My main issue is that at points I can do this and it seems to work fine, then I run the track again and just either doesnt work, or selects different snapshots. A few things that I had noticed: - For a patch change the PC number had to be 1 higher than the actual number for some reason? - When trying to change to a different setlist, I have had to put the bank as 36, the sub as the correct one (3 ikn this case) and then the PC as the correct one (2 in this case) and it would work. But then again I would try the track agian and just would not work. So am hoping/praying/begging that someone may be able to give me a breakdown on how to do this from scratch, am reletively new to midi so just working things out for myself, but seem to be hitting a brick wall. Ideally, where do I set the CC32 number to select the setlist, then the same with the patch and snapshot, and get this working in a live situation. Have attached a screenshot to show how the notes/envelope is setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Many Many thanks Steve
  16. Good day! Just thought I'd share my experience... First, bass amp models sound much better after tweaking. Anything to "tighten up" the sound, like the sag and mic distance. Second, two paths sound better than one; flattens up your tone. Third, dialing in a tone as close to live volume through my home pa gets me closest to what it will sound like live through the fronts, but headphones get you close. Usually I am asked to turn down the lows a bit, if anything. I went live for a show with a loud drummer (godsmack tribute) and ONLY a Peavey DM115 (no back line). I managed, but it didn't cut it. Not loud enough, and no subtleties came through. Guitar players seem to have no trouble with the same set up, but most sound guys don't seem to fully understand modelers, and that we are trying to avoid being at their mercy for monitor volume. This is less of an issue in larger clubs with larger PAs and good sound guys. Best sound I get now is backlining with my mark bass tube 800 through a single 4x10. I use the helix in front of it, replacing my tried and true, and hard to beat, ME 50B, for volume, tuner, compressor, effects. Honestly, I haven't figured out how to make it sound as crisp and clean as the me-50b, but it's close. Now here's the thing, I run a completely different rig to the front of house. Usually the Hartke with the 8x10. Lots of compliments, and I can hear over the rest of band. I have not yet found a monitor that is loud enough for me to go without the back line. I'm about to get a QSC power amp and Yamaha 12 inch monitors. I'm hoping that's going to work out. As much as I would like to walk in with just a combo amp, my situation requires serious volume, and I can't only bring one amp and hope it doesn't blow. Lastly, my mark rig with the ME 50B, is very portable, and sounds better than most rigs to my ear. I bring an extra head with me just in case and I actually run two 4 by 10s. But I don't get all the bells and whistles I get with the helix. That's where I'm at! I didn't see anyone else posting about playing bass through the helix to the extent that I'm trying to. Comments and suggestions are welcome!
  17. Hello! So I am playing a show in a few weeks, and I am currently running my helix to a powered speaker for monitoring (with a flat EQ of course). I am thinking about trying to send a signal with the same tone/eq/etc to FOH just so they can crank it in their monitors more. Am I overthinking this, or can I simply run a 1/4" cable to my speaker via 1/4" OUT L output, and run another 1/4" to XLR to the FOH via the 1/4" OUT R output? I am trying it with my interface, and the exact same tone is coming through both outputs (which is what I am looking for). Thanks!
  18. Im trying to find a way to run my Helix LT live. Before i got it, my rig was a dual rectifier+ pedalboard into a Mesa 4x12, but i also use an EVH 5150iii and a Peavey 5150 both into their own EVH 4x12's for an overly bulky live stereo set up. Now, with the EVH/Peavey, i can plug into the fx return of both and get what i need coming out of the 4x12's, easily and simply like everyone says. But with my Dual Rectifier; holy cow is it noisy. Not only is there so much hissing, it is also just freakishly loud. By the time i get to 'room volume' the vol. knob on the helix is so low it isnt useful. Iv read somewhere on here about a guy with a Mesa Mark IV and it sounded like he had a similar problem, but a solution wasnt posted. i tried the 4cm, but im trying to bypass the head altogether so i can simulate one. The EVH+Peavey rigs are not mine, so i need to figure out the problem with my Mesa, or find a little FRFR setup; in which case i can use some power amp recommendations. Also getting a 50w EVH doesnt sound bad as i know i can plug straight into that fx return. Or am i simply overlooking something with the Dual Rec? Its an older model and isnt the quietest on it own; especially in the fx loop. But it should still be useful, right?
  19. Hi everyone! I am a begginer with PODHD 500x, that's why I need your help. I dowloaded differents patches from the LINE 6 website, and when I tried them at home everything worked fine. When I went to play with my band in our small room, I attached the POD direct in front of a combo (LINE 6 SPIDER IV - CLEAN). Problem is that when I play a distorted patch, it start to whistle and make unsupportable noise. I read on http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/setup This that I report: "I recommend setting your output mode to the appropriate non-"Studio/Direct" mode. If you want to use your Pod for both "direct" and "live" purposes, I recommend leaving the output mode as "Studio/Direct" and setting your "live" patches up with "no cab" as your cabinet selection. When you use "no cab", you get the same output in every output mode (more-or-less) - all cab/mic simulation is simply disabled. " Now what I would like to try is to set INPUT 1: GUITAR and INPUT 2: VARIAX for all the patches; And then I would like to put this "no cab" suggested, but I don't really understand how to do this. About the "mixer" Path A and Path B should be Centered ? Or should I leave it 100%R and 100%L? May you help me through this? Any other reccomandations?
  20. Hello to everybody, I’m thinking about buying the M20D(maybe used if I get a super deal), and switch my band setup from analog to digital, mainly for ease of setup, our situation is pretty typical (drum bass guitars voice and a few sequence), so we will be using always the same scene, with small adjustments regarding the venue or a few guests. I already checked how this mixer works and I think it can do everything we need in a nice package, but I’m here to ask for help, since I tried it once and it was super cool, but it isn't mine so I cannot check every feature, so please I will be glad if any expert user could tell me if I’m gettin’ it right or not. For live use I will need a complete channel strip for the Singer, so eq-compressor-deesser-(enhancer)-reverb, independent from other channels. For drums, eq for all channels and compressor for overhead kick and maybe snare. For guitars and bass, eq. For main out, limiter and eq. Can I do everything with integrated efx in the M20D without linking external units? For Home studio use, I understand it can do as an USB audio interface for windows 10 machines, so I can sell my focusrite Scarlett and Motu 8pre and link the Line6 with Cubase with the same functionality, right? Or I can use it only to record live performance on SD or usb cards? We are afraid to loose a little bit of quality since now we are using an Allen Heat Zed22fx which is a great analog mixer, but I’m confident that with an integrated digital mixer I can balance things much more precisely. Please feel free to comment, you will help me join the community of Line6users.
  21. I’ve been going out stereo with xlr’s for a good while but never felt I had the sound and spread I wanted. Im now using two amps with two separate outs with one amp panned 24 left and the other 24 right, using stereo reverbs and delays. It now sounds great through headphones and my daw. What’s the best way to treat this in rehearsals and a gig in terms of the pa mixer? Should i pan an each channel hard left and right at the mixer or both in the centre and the helix panning will sort it? Any help or tips with stereo out to pa with two different amps would be great, thanks.

  23. Hello good people! I was considering getting the hd500x because it fits perfectly on my budget, but i couldn't find anywhere an answer to this question: Can you connect your pod to foh (with cab emulation) and to a poweramp and cab (without cab emulation) simultaneously? if not, that would be a deal breaker :/ I've downloaded the edit software and discovered that using a dual amp setup i could turn off the simulation on one, so theoretically if i pan them hard to the sides i could do what i want? Thanks in advance!
  24. Hello community! I'm kind of new here, I checked the compatibility post for pedals but I didn't get something. Can someone explain which devices are supposed to be compatible with a POD xt Live? I recently bought it used (as the best option according my wallet) and I was reading the manual to check about recording. I saw something about I could use a pedalboard as an extension and link it somehow to record what I play and play it background to jam. If this is possible, which pedalboard is the best for my multiefect? Or which is my multiefect for the compatibility list? (example: pro xt even when yours is xt live) Thanks for the help.
  25. I am planing on swapping my Helix for a Helix Rack + Controller but, I have a few questions: 1. Can the Controller fit in a rack drawer? I am guessing a 2U? 2. How do you transport the Volume pedal? I am guessing you have another drawer just for pedals and you have to connect them at the venue you're playing at? 3. What rack did you get and what do you have on? Drawer for cables? Patchbay? Power conditioner? 4. Do you use a tuner plugged in the Controller in case you can't see the rack? 5. What about the g10? If you use one what do you do? another drawer? (this rack is becoming really big!) I am sure I am not the only one with those questions, so I believe pics would also be great! Thanks :)
