  1. Hello, Typically FS1-4 are used to change effects within a preset. And FS5-8 are used to change overall presets. So, if I want to play clean during a verse and stomp on Distortion during the chorus, I'd assign Dist to FS1. Then I'd toggle that during a song. But, it can be tricky in the heat of things to hit FS1 mid song without accidentally hitting FS5 or FS6 and triggering a completely different preset (I'm pretty nimble, but sometimes my size 12 checkered Vans just don't want to listen to me). It would be much easier to swap those settings, so now I can just hit FS5 to go into Distortion. And then at the end of the song, I can delicately reach up and hit FS1-4 to go to the preset for the next song. In theory I could build two presets (one with Dist and one without and swap between those in a setlist, but of course swapping between presets has a bit of a pause, and that won't work. I'm in a cover band and therefore have a lot of specific presets for our songs. I am currently using at least 8 full banks for a normal gig. Otherwise I think I could use the other footswitch mode that basically gives me 8 effects. The other possibility I thought about was an external pedal that might let me just trigger one effect per preset (or group a few together). I know I can get an external Expression pedal, but haven't seen anything that's just a single button that seems to work. An example song is "In A Big Country". When we get to the screaming bagpipe parts I want to kick on the 3 Pitch Glides I have to get that Stuart Adamson sound (one octave up, one octave down, one on 5ths, all at 30% mix). All advice is welcomed!

    HD500x cabs

Line 6, the cabs on the HD are horrendous, I'm sorry but I can't stress it enough. The only cab I am pretty content with is the XXX cab and the Uber cab. With the XXX it has a very good translation to a live monitor wedge. It's also easier to notch out the low end on it using EQ where I need to than to low shelf the other ones (doesn't work well at all). Please. Please please, I am begging you, figure out what's going on with these cabs. There has to be some update we can do. The remastered JCM 800 sounded a great deal better. Sounded raw, like a real amp. I'm literally at the point I'm going to have to add a laptop to my pedalboard with Poulin LeCab on it just to fix what I really don't feel i should have to fix. Just remember what I'm saying here. The cabs are for the most part useable in a quiet format, but once turned up it's pretty frustrating that the treadplate cab is probably what I would vote the lousiest cab in the entire collect. Everything about it is shrill and impossible to work with at stage volumes. YES I TWEAK AT VOLUME. I spend alot of time with my monitor wedge in my face.
  3. Alright so I'm kinda new at this. I am running a pod hd pro through a 5150 head (my poweramp source) to a 5150 slant cab. The way I have it hooked up is a 1/4 cable from the pods Left(mono) FX out to my heads FX in. The output level on the POD is set to Line and in the settings I have it set to studio direct. (IDK why but that sounds the best for me, probably because Im not using the 4 cable method and just using all the tone from the POD). My question is, what is the most efficient way of running this setup live but also going direct? I wanna still have sound from my amp on stage but skip the mic'ing process. My concerns are the tones/patches sounding different going direct to FOH as to what is coming through my cab. If someone can give me a list of what I need as far as achieving this, that would be amazing. (certain gear, direct box, cables, methods etc). The most simplest way please and thank you I wish someone can make a video of this step by step
  4. Hi guys, i'm new in the forum, Just post this topic because sometimes i read people have difficulties to make a good marshall plexi sound but i don't think its so much hard to make it if you use the good things.. I had a marshall jcm 800 modded , so i reproduce in hear what i heard in the real marshall.. Here is a video that i posted yesterday on youtube to give a live example in FrFr : Here what i use : screamer : bass 100 - tone 75 - treble 90 - drive 35 - output 75 univibe : speed : 2.0 hz - depth 52 - mix 100 Plexi lead 100 brt : drive 100 - bass 100 - mid 100 - treble 100 - pres 70 - ch vol 46 - e.r 10 421 dynamic mic - 4x12 Greenback 25 amp parameter : master 100 - sag 50 - hum 50 - bias 100 - bias x 50 cab parameters : low cut 110HZ - res lev 60 - thump 100 - decay 50 Dt : class a/b - topology 2 -triode mode an REALLY IMPORTANT : studio eq : lo freq 700hz +5db - hi freq 400hz +3 db - gain -3db Because real amps have a lot of 700hz and modelisation not enough and the 400hz because in Frfrf (with my pair of RCF 312a mk2- you don't have enough 400hz.... Some delays and you are on the TOP !! Enjoy it Billy https://www.reverbnation.com/billzproject
  5. I'm going from my POD HD Pro to a power amplifier to a cab for live. My question is what is the difference between +4 and -10 ? Also, what is ideal for live... Studio mode or power amp or combo mode? Still not really sure. Thank you in advance :)
  6. Hi. I play heavy metal and used to record with Abelton live lite 7. I'm about to buy a new Ux2, bit the new ones only comes with Reason Limited software, and no Riff Works or Abelton. 1) Is Reason Limited abel to record as Abelton? 2) What's the difference between Reason Limited and Reason Adapted? 3) Does Reason Limited allows plugins like Ezdrummer and Isotope Ozone? Thanks
  7. i hope someone could give some idea of what's the best setup for a POD HD500 using amp modelling live...... i've read about Tech 21 Power Engine, and generic speakers/monitors but still i've been reading pros and cons about it.... any thoughts from users that have a live setup? thanks
  8. Hi guys, im new here and wondering if you can give me some help... i just got a pod xt live from a mate who has upgraded. problem is... i cant get it working when hooked up to my laptop [to add tones or record etc] can some one tell me what i need to do please? i'm told i need gearbox 7 or something? but cant find it anywhere. any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. I am rehearsing with my symphonic metal band, and we are searching for a way to monitor our backing tracks. Is there a way to use the POD studio UX1 to send seperate stereo signals to the Phones and analog out outputs?
  10. Is there any way to transfer a tone in pod farm to a hardware pod or is there a reliable way to bring your laptop and ux1 to a gig and use pod farm with long cables? Does anyone here have any experience with this?
  11. So I use an m-audio midiport to change my pod's patches during live shows. However when a patch changes, there is a small interruption of sound (for about half a second) which sounds bad in the mix... Is there a way to make the change faster? If not, I basicly change between rythm and lead patches, so can I change some parameters of the patch (like turning pedals on/off. or amp settings) using MIDI signals? I just want to make our live sound as perfect as it can get...
  12. Hi Guys, I submitted an idea to create a new output mode which could be called "Live" or "Live Gig". It's basically to have a good live sound out of the box (which with the current Studio/Direct is absolutely not the case). If you're like me and spent a lot of time tweaking your POD (I've been playing with it for 1.5 years now and still not done) and would like to free some FX slots which are currently occupied by EQs please consider voting for it: http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/POD-HD-New-Live-Gig-Output-Mode/688489-23508 Thanks
  13. I'm new to the HD500x and initially I wanted to use this so that I didn't have to bring an amp to gigs. I tried playing through my Bose L1 and while I can pull it off at restaraunt gigs, I've decided I just can't match the tone and presence of a real tube amp for my bar gigs. So...I'm happy with using it with my Fender Hod Rod Deluxe, but have discovered that I like it better without using the amp modeling, just using effects like reverb, distortion, etc... I love my stage sound now, the problem lies with the PA/recording. I'd like to go from the HD500x straight to the mixer. The sound though, through the PA isn't very good. Is there a way to get amp tone through the PA (XLR) but not through my guitar amp? We record with the mixer as well. I could mike the amp, but that is obviously not my preferred solution.
  14. Hello everybody, I have a problem with my Pod HD500X patches while using it during a live gig. When I need loud sounds for live situations (master volume at 2 or 3 o'clock) I have feedback issues and I cannot mute strings properly without larsen or high feedback sounds even if I am quite far from my cabinet. I am not trying to replicate a wall of sound, I only need the right amount of volume to be heard over the drummer in a gig in pubs or small/medium venues without cabinet amplification. I know that there are other similar topics in this forum, but all solutions suggested seems to fail. Here is the detail of my configuration: Guitar (Ibanez RG970QMZ) -> POD HD500X -> Rocktron 300 Poweramp (or EHX 44 Magnum poweramp) -> MesaBoogie 1x12 200W Cabinet All my cables are brand new (I already tried to change all of them, without resolving the issue). During gigs I use a mic for the voice, but I tried to turn it off and it doesn't resolve the issue. I already reinstalled firmware and Edit software. Input1 is Guitar and Input2 is Guitar globally set (I have both single and dual patches). Output is set to combo power amp. The problem occurs only with high gain patches (no problem with clean sounds). Here is the patches (generic scheme): Hard Gate -> Screamer (gain around 30-40%) -> (eq eventually) -> Uberschall / Treadplate (gain around 60-70%, channel volume at 90%) -> mixer (pan centered, levels at 0) -> eq -> delay / reverb. As soon as I approach the strings to the pickups it starts the squeaks and while playing I cannot make any pause. I also tried to insert two or three more hard/noise gates in the chain but no changes. If I deactivate the screamer the issue problem persists. The only way to solve it is to lower the patch volume. I would really appreciate any suggestion to resolve this annoying issue. Thank you very much and sorry for my rusty english (hope you understand anyway).
  15. So I've had my HD500X for a little over a month now and I spent quite a bit of time, of course, creating usable tones that I like. I've used the POD with headphones, computer speakers, my Vypyr VIP 2 amp, and more recently, and old Crate PA/Mixer system that my parents used to use years ago and have now given to me. The Crate PA system really brought the tone to life and allowed me to get the tones dialed in the way I like them before using the POD live (although my wife wasn't happy about how much space it takes up :D ). I have to say that with the HD500X, my tone was the best it's been since I was much younger and used to use a Crate G120C amp when playing live. I play lead guitar at church, and I've been using my Peavey Vypyr VIP 2 amp with a Sure SM57. I love the Vypyr amp, and with the SM57 off-axis, I was able to get some decent tones live, but the problem is that the stage volume became an issue. The Vypyr doesn't have a line out, so I had to mic it, which would normally be fine, but In the church setting, if I turned the amp up loud enough to get a good fat mic'd tone, it would overpower the bass and keyboard players because of speaker beaming, and be overpowering in general for a church service. If I turned it down to keep that from happening, I'd end up with a good, albeit quieter, tone on stage, but the mic'd sound coming out of the PA was thin and weak because of not having enough volume for the mic to pick up a good source sound. So after tweaking and learning the POD for a month, I used it at practice and during the performances this past weekend. It made a huge difference in my sound. No longer having to worry about being too loud or too soft was great, and the tone I got through the PA system was the best I've had playing here. I used my Crate PA system and one of it's 2x8 speakers as a monitor, and placed it in front of me pointing away from the audience but toward my ears so that I could hear it pretty well without it being too loud. All in all, it's been a great experience and I'm pretty excited about using it from here on out.
  16. Hello everyone. I´m new in this forums and I hace a doubt about this amplifier. I´m from Mexico so... sorry for the bad english. The last saturday I bought the amplifi 150, also I have a pod hd500 too. My doubt is... can I use the ampli 150 as a normal amplifier? Just connecting the Pod hd 500 into the input of the amp? Another problem that I have, is when I try to edit a preset in the amp, when I turned off the "Reverb" the sounds go off, maybe I´m doing something wrong. Anyone else hace this problem? Thank you for the time... and sorry for the mistakes.
  17. Has anyone used a POD HD pro (Or pro X) for a live bass rig? Did it work out? I know I can get an awesome bass tone for recording with it, but does that translate over in the live setting with a venue sound system in your experiences? When I used it at my last show ( I play lead guitar normally) I had a very thin and bassless tone, but I think that was a few too many eqs that caused that.
  18. Hey, So bought a new Line 6 Variax 700. Love the tones. But when i connected it to my workbench i've had a strange problem. First let me explain how i connected it. Variax 700 electric to my pod xt live using a rj45 cable. Then, via usb to the computer. I have updated all my firmwares and software. Now, heres the strange thing. My guitar is detected via the pod xt live perfectly, but when i try to change a tuning the fret board works upside down. Eg. When i drop my lowest (6th string) To a D in order to make it a drop D tuning, it changes my highest string (The high E or 1st string) to a D. While the easy and obviously way to get over this is just find out how many frets to drop each string by. There is another issue. When i drop my highest string in the software (which is my lowest string in real life) The note doesnt transpose properly. I.e. it misses the note and buzzes and stuff like that. What is the problem. I'm pretty sure that if i fix my fretboard being upside down in the software, it'll fix the problem. P.S. I've reinstalled the firmwares and drives and tried the same thing on my laptop as well as desktop. PLEASE HELP! :( :( Thanks in advance.
  19. Hey I just bought this second hand so I don't have a manual or anything, I worked out how to switch from volume to wah, but I can't work out how to switch it to tweak mode so it acts as an expression pedal for some stomp boxes (eg, bender) I know it can be done because some presets already have it done, and both lights for volume and wah light up when the mode is in use. It's probably simple but can anyone help me?? I want to be able to use it as a whammy etc as well. Thanks in advance :)
  20. Hello all, I have a POD 2.0 running firmware v2.2 and controlling it with an an original Line 6 Floorboard: I am trying to map my POD 2.0 Floorboard controls so that I can control parameters in Guitar Rig Pro 5. I have seen videos and posts on users using the newer Line 6 floorboard models with Guitar Rig Pro but I have no clue on how to do this with the original POD 2.0 Floorboard. I have my MIDI INs and OUTs connected correctly and Ableton is showing that I am transmitting MIDI signals from my Floorboard. However, I cannot seem to find the right software to manually map the POD 2.0 MIDI CC#'s so that Guitar Rig Pro 5 can see them. For instance, when I move my volume pedal on my Line 6 Floorboard, I would like it to control a knob in Guitar Rig Pro 5. I have installed Line 6 Edit and Line 6 Monkey which I don't think helped my situation. Has anyone done anything similar with the original Line 6 Floorboard? With the amount of POD 2.0's still out there, I'm sure someone has tried to connect their gear with Guitar Rig Pro or Amplitube? Can anyone help me out? Thanks.
  21. Anybody care to share about EQ settings for live performance using JTV-59 Acoustic model #5 (Gibson) for strumming playing-style mixed with a female vocal and percussions like shaker and cajon. Thanks.
  22. Hey guys, Love this forum, so helpful compared to some out there. I am looking to sell my ENGL (dont need 150w) and use my POD X3 a bit more - i have some great patches downloaded from Reece Fullwood (Mask of Judas) and Drewsif Stalin - I recommend you check out these guys if you havent heard of them - i nearly quit when i heard Reece! Anyway - i have a 2x12 laney ironheart cab and an X3 bean - I was wondering..... I see the X3 bean has a FBV input on it - does this mean I could purchase the FBV pedal and a power amp and i would be able to run my POD sounds live with the ability to switch around with the FBV? I am desperate to get rid of my ENGL and 4X12 (moved outta my folks house into a top story apartment and my band practices miles away where we have to carry the gear down a long path.... I cant stands no more!!!!! Help me friends!!!! Lenny
  23. Hi All! This is my first post to the forums so I thought I'd share my main HD 500 patch. I use this patch for recording and live direct to front of house and it covers pretty much everything I need really well. I really love this tone! Thanks L6! :-) Here's a screen shot of my patch setting: *Ok I checked it out and uploaded this to Customtone: http://line6.com/customtone/tone/219961/
  24. Please put the Pod X3 Live back in production. Just the way it was, No new moddeling tech or current gen processing. I have owened, Pod HD500, Pod HD400, Pod HD Pro & Pod HD Desktop (twice). Every amp model sounds exactley the same. I think your current gen Algorhythmns are flawed. You had it right with X3 Live. I have the X3 Bean but need the effects loop of the X3 Live. I think this would be a nice alternative that you could offer for players I know this won't happen but, There it is....
