  1. Hi all, Not sure if this is the right place to put this topic, however am going to try and do it anyway. I have a question and a request. I will start with my Question... I have the Standard version of POD Farm 2.5, was contemplating upgrading to Platinum but for $199.00 all I seem to really be getting is the two model packs I am missing. Am I missing something here? Now for my request, I am really only looking for the following two model packs; Classics and Metal Shop and was wondering if there were some Line 6 users out there who were willing to sell/transfer their license to me at a reduced cost? I am currently looking at the two power pack and both would currently run me $100. Anyone??? Thanks in advance... Mike
  2. I hope this isn't a noob question, but I still don't understand how to hook up the Pod HD to my head and only use its power amp section to power the Pod. I have tried the "4 cable method," and all I ended up with was a barely audible guitar sound. Maybe I did something wrong, I don't know. What is the proper way of doing this? Also, is there a way to get rid of mic emulation and cab emulation like on the Axe FX? I am confused and I really dig the tone of my Pod HD Pro X, and I have been dying to use it with my 4x12. What do I need to do to get it sounding best and to get all my connections right?
  3. Hi everyone, I was wondering how to use my UX1 for live use. The UX1 has 2 analog outputs (left, right) so my queston is: Is correct to exit from an output (for example the left), enter in a DI Box and go straight to the PA System? Or, can I take a 1/4" jack--XLR cable like this (http://www.maffuccirosanna.com/images/cavi/CABL64-wf0.jpg) and go into the stage box?
  4. Hey Guys, I'm considering buying a PODHD for live purposes. Im a Bassist (playing a BassPOD XT atm) but i have a Laptop on stage too, so i have to bring an Audio Interface with me too. So i ask my self if it's possible to have the POD HD output my bass signal through one output to my bass amp and the "dry" laptop signal connected via usb to the PA. signal 1: bass guitar -> podhd -> bass amp signal 2: laptop -> usb -> podhd -> PA I looked it up in the manual and the forums but couldn't find a definitive answer. If somone could help me I'd really appreciate it because it would save me from carrying lots of cables and equipment to the stage. thx!
  5. Hi, I have been using an Shortboard mkii with Snow Leopard on my 2007 MacBook Pro to control Ableton Live for about a year. I have recently upgraded to a new MacBook Pro running Mavericks. To get the Shortboard to function properly, I have to plug it in to the USB AFTER the Mac has booted THEN run Monkey. If I don't do this, Live 9 sees the Shortboard but won't receive messages from it. Weird - never had to do that on my old setup. According to Monkey, I have the latest firmware and software. The Shortboard is being plugged directly into one of the Mac's USB ports - I am also using a USB keyboard controller and a USB Korg Nano Kontrol but these never caused problems with my Shortboard on my old setup. Any one else having this issue? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Steve
  6. So i run my Pod HD Pro into a Mesa 50/50 power amp and a 4x12 V30/G12T75 Cab. On my pod, i run in stack pwr amp mode with the cab modeling off. When setting my tones up, i've always felt like i get a better tone using the full models (power amp included) vs preamp only models, but i have not tried the pre-only models yet in a band setting. Once i get to practice, i'm always wanting to test my latest tweaks to my usual full amp model patches - and i never really tweak at the gig. GRanted, i really feel like i'm getting some great, realistic tones from the full models, but i'm always looking to improve my tone. I realize in theory the "pre-only" models make more sense with my setup, but i'm going by my ears. So my question for those using the pod live with a power amp and cab - do you use the full models or preamp only models. Would love to hear some other folks' experience on this and what you think of each. Thanks!
  7. I use my Bass Pod XT live as a guitar preamp by the DI output for my EMU 1212m, it works just fine. But I also want to use the same Bass POD XT as a MIDI controller. But as soon as I plug in the USB into the Bass POD XT, the DI output turns into model output. I know it works like that with the headphone but hre there's just no way there's a common wiring between the USB and the DI output. Any way I set the thing within the control panel, it only affects the sound for (and of) the computer, not the outputs. a.) is this normal? b.) If so, why? There's no reason why USB should affect the outputs. It doesn't turn the bass pod xt into a stereo soundcard or anything. c.) Is there any way I can get the unprocessed sound through the DI output while using the pod as a MIDI controller without unplugging the POD from the USB (so neither Bypass nor a 5-pole MIDI cable is a solution)? Thanks in advance.
  8. Heya you all! I would like to know if it is possible to control my Flextone II's channels (or presets?) via my Pod XT live -pedal using MIDI? If this is possible, how easy it is to set up? One more question; if I can get the POD xt live to control Flextone presets/sounds, can I still put it in effets loop and use some effects from pod? Thank you for your asnwers! :)
  9. Hello the forum! Lately I've been working on hooking my HD500 to a PC via MIDI for automated patch changes in a live setting. So I'm looking for a .midnam file (http://www.midi.org/dtds/MIDINameDocument10.dtd.html) defining HD500 as a midi device for DAWs (ProTools in my case)... I'd appreciate if anyone shares a link. If none, I'll be finishing my custom one anytime soon, and if anyone's interested I'll be willing to share it. Does make your life a bit easier when you don't have to remember all the bank, patch and controller numbers and values while preparing a live set. Regards, Dmitry.
  10. This is my first post so if I do anything wrong, I'm sorry before hand. I got a PODxt Live from a friend of mine who said I would need it more than him. I've got POD Farm 2 a while ago and used PODxt Live's usb input and processed it through POD Farm to get my tone. Before hand I used a First Act usb cable to record that gave raw guitar sound. I processed that into POD Farm and I got alright results (It had some noise to it but I just bit the bullet on that) but with PODxt Live, when I turn amp, noise gate, eq (basicly everything except for raw guitar) off, it sounds a lot softer and the sound of the clean is "crispier" (like crunchy-ish) and the distortions dont really have much emphasis as they did before hand. I of course googled the problem and spent about 2 hours watching videos and reading forums and manuals but didn't get much or any desired results. I won't say what I found because they are probably just going to make explaining the problem worse but if anyone can explain to me how to possibly fix this issue you would be helping a fellow musician greatly. Thanks again for reading! *P.S. the program I am using is Mixcraft 6 and my OS is Windows 7 (32 bit) if that helps at all
  11. Hey everyone, Im trying to use my old Pod xt live as an audio interface to record on Ableton Live 8. Ive got everything set up to where I get a signal on Ableton, but Im getting two output signals from my Pod to my monitors. One signal goes from the pod output straight to the monitors and the other one goes to Ableton through the usb cable and then back through the pod to the monitors. (So that if my Pod tone is clean and I have a distortion effect enabled on Ableton I hear both the clean and distorted tones at the same time) The only output cable I have is a 1/4" from the l/mono output on the pod to the monitors inputs and my Pod is connected to my pc via the usb cable. Is there any way to have only the signal from Ableton play through the monitors? I want to use effects from the pod as well as effects on ableton.
  12. Hi line 6 community, i'm searching for a good usb midi foot controller for Ableton Live and i would like to know if is possible to use the line 6 shortboard MK1 (not mk2). I want to control especially the loop function and effects on/off. Is it complicated to configure? I can't find the manual of that product, is there something online? Thanks
  13. Hey what's up guys. A new user to the forum, but I've been using line 6 products for quite some time. Do a lot of mixing/AE work and looking to get better. That's besides the point :P So, I just picked up a PODHD500X and this thing is pretty amazing thus far. Have gotten some really great tones out of it already with the many custom amp/cab tweaks you can make. - We want to run this in a live application for gigs, however going into a cab does not give enough output volume to even be mic'd + the guitarist would like to hear what he's playing. - We have run this direct -in, however the monitor feedback gets a bit 'whiny' when standing too close to the monitors and is not a preferred method of running the pod. (Unless we go in-ears, but that's dropping a bit of cash) I've gone over the pedal settings a lot and as far as I know, I have all the volume settings adjusted at max, but it's still not cutting it. TL;DR- Running this into a cab, how do you maximize sound output? Cheers!
  14. I just recently updated my Spider IV 150 to current specs and am exploring the new Gain effects. One thing that has always bothered me with modeling amps is the slight delay when switching amp models or channels (from A to B etc.) It occurred to me that with the new Gain effects, you don't have to switch channels to switch to your dirty sound. It's almost like the difference between switching channels and stepping on a distortion pedal (which I assume is what Line 6 was going for). My only issue is that the Gain stomps just don't quite have the same feeling as the amp models with drive cranked up. I've found that Tube Driver gets pretty close for a good rock to metal sounds, when compared to the cranked Class A Red or Insane Red. The Screamer is nice too but, I don't know how to describe it... I suppose what I kept running into is two conflicting EQs between the amp model and the stomp model (which just took time to find a good balance or just pick a new FX1 option) and a difference in output level, the cleans always seem to be more full and a little louder then when I kick in the Stomp effect. In the end I guess what I'm asking is if other people run into this to, how they deal with it, how they use the Gain effects, if anybody has some tips how to apply those effects along with channel volume, gain, drive etc. and lastly do people prefer to switch from A to B for clean/dirty or use the effects? Thanks!!!!
  15. HI EVERYBODY!! I've just watched on youtube a very nice patch to make "dubtep music". this is the link: Can anyone help me to get a sound like this?? If you have this patch link it!! thank you :D
  16. My guitarist and I have recently switched amps to the Pod HD Pro, and he uses his old 6505+ to power his Pod, while I invested in a cheap solid state power amp (Crown XLS1000) to power mine. Although I don't mind my tone, I do like how his sounds more powerful and is easier to power live. We recently played at a bar that had no home monitors and I had to max my power amp to barely get loud enough to be heard. We play out of Vader and Mesa cabs, and our genre is more on the Death Metal side than anything else. I've decided to invest in a cheap tube head to power my pod while I save up for a 6505+, and a used Peavey Valveking (100w) and Crate Blue Voodoo (120w) came to mind, since they are both tube amps that I can run through the effects return and buy for around 300 USD, maybe less. My question is, has anyone tried powering their pod with either amp? It seems like it may be a decent temporary fix to my problem. That way we can at least be close tone and power-wise.
  17. Hi, I just noticed another issue with my x3live unit. When I move it, even just a little the screen goes blank yet the power is on . Well it would be more like stays orange color you know. It starts ok when i power it on, it fails only when i move it. I've read many posts with a similar problem but in all of them they got the blank screen when starting the device. Any clue what the issue could be ?
  18. Anyone had this weird problem - I use the pitch glide setting to create a dive bomb effect when playing the intro to 'lonely boy' and twice playing it on a local festival stage, the pitch glide has either failed completely (which somewhat ruins the intro!) or has been intermittent. This has never happened in any other rehearsal or gig. The only issue I could come up with is that walkie talkies, which have been used by the stage crews in each instance, may have been causing radio interference with the RJ45 cable connecting my FBV Shortboard to my amp (a Spider IV 150). And because the pitch glide effect requires a non-static or changing signal, from Shortboard to amp, this was somehow failing to be transmitted 'cleanly' along the RJ45 cable. I have now bought a more robust RJ45 which claims to have better insulation from radio interference. Then again we have also now dropped that song from our live set - just in case it happens again! Thoughts/comments/shared experiences anyone....?
  19. edit: no one replied so I'd rather change the message so no one stumbles upon this thread looking for an answer to a similar problem. thanks for the help line 6 forums
  20. I'm using the POD XT Pro for live use. I run the unbalanced out to a power amp and cabinet for stage volume I run the balanced out to the PA I want the cab sims ON for the PA and cab sims OFF for my power amp into a guitar cab- is this possible?? I'm using "Stack Power Amp" and the cabs are ON from the unbalanced out into my power amp - i thought they would be off? How should i set it up to use cab models for PA but no cab model for my power amp into guitar cab?
