  1. Hi, I am with a company designing a custom midi controller that we wanted to have work with the M9. We are using Arduino to implement the controller. I have the looper doing play/stop and record via midi, all of which work great. When I tried to implement overdubbing, the M9 does not respond. I am sending a midi control change message with controller number 50 and a value of 0 on channel 1. I have tested this by sending the midi message to Abelton, which recieves it correctly and verifies this is what is being sent. I have also tried implementing it via Arduino's midi library and via their serial.write sending the message manually. I checked the midi input in setup as well, and have tried it both as channel 1 and omni. Another weird thing is that when the M9 is in record mode and receives this message it goes into playing while overdubbing, but once the M9 is playing the message does nothing. Really unsure what is wrong here unless our M9 is just defective, I have exhausted every other factor of error I can think of. I am going off the midi controls listed in the manual here: http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593fca717b/application/pdf/M9%20Advanced%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf We are on a deadline to have this working so any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!
  2. I recently bought a line 6 pod hd 500x .when i tried looper i was able to record a pattern and when i tried to change the tone to play some lead the tone of the recorded portion changes. please help me
  3. I made a quick YouTube video explaining two Helix feature requests: 1) Allow the use of FS4 and FS5 during looper mode http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Assignable-switches-within-LOOPER/799749-23508 2) While initially recording a loop, let the UNDO button cancel recording http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Looper-Undo-to-stop-recording-but-remember-it/789994-23508 http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Helix-Looper-Stop/789484-23508 If you agree, please consider upvoting those IdeaScale submissions. Thanks! Matt
  4. Hi, I noticed that when I record a loop (single layer), the volume of its playback drops quite a lot compared with anything I play on it (even not overdubbing another loop on it), or compared to the volume when I recorded it. I think it was like that also in the HD500, but not this bad. This happens when in the looper (mono looper) settings I have "playback" and "overdub" at 0 dB, and the low/high cuts are at 20Hz/20kHz. Is there any way to increase the volume of the playback (and not the volume of what I play over it....)? Thanks!
  5. Man this thing would be so much nicer if the loop back state and button controls were always accessible. Right now I have to mod tones to map the looper to a pedal button and play aggravating morse code to program it. I gotta sign up for that idea thing line 6 does
  6. For those of you who uses the looper regularly, is it possible to record (for example) a 15 secs trk and loop that over and over? Of course I read the manual, but couldn't get it done..
  7. Quick question, have had the Helix for a couple of days now, sounds great, really like it. Only thing I haven't been to figure out is if am I able to assign certain Looper parameters (such as Record, Playback, Stop) to the my primary Stompbox or "Home" screen, without actually having to go into "Looper" mode via a footswitch? Has anyone been able to accomplish this???

    Looper question

Hi everyone, This might be a silly question but I can't for the life of me figure it out. If I've started to record a loop in the helix - and I've made a mistake, is there a way to cancel that recording completely. I've only been able to play the recording and stop it immediately but you'll still get a bit of the start of the loop. I recall on the M13, you were able to press stop but that doesn't seem to work on the helix. Any thoughts?
  9. I'm not sure if this has been answered or not, but I have a question about the looper and using an external midi controller. If I were to use an external controller to trigger the looper functions with midi commands, will the Helix (control section) go into looper mode or will it remain in preset/footswitch mode?
  10. Hi guyz, I am having a constant problem about my delay unit. At first it started freezing during loops, it used to be ok if I replug the unit, it used to keep working like that. But eventually it started not to turn on, I had it repaired last week, the repairman told me that the issue is really prevalent in most of the DL4s anyway, I got it back yesterday, I had a performance, it worked really fine but now it decided not to turn on again. Actually it was working just fine this morning, i was messing around with some live looping stuff. And then bum! it freezed, (i wish it had a ctrl alt del button lol). I need help. Did any of you have this issue? p.s: 1-i'm not running it with the batteries, 2-i'm pretty sure that i'm using the right power supply 3-yes i tried another power supply
  11. Is there a hidden UNDO function for the looper on the HD400? I can't believe they would release something with such an obvious flaw... I see the HD500 has a dedicated Undo button. Is there a firmware update or secret handshake I am missing? Thanks!
  12. We now Need a Looper, there is no reason not to have one in the Remote, it would add so much more capability to the Amplify, I can then record a Background Rhythm, play that back and then be able to play my Lead's. With all of the Capability of the iPad or iPhone, that is a no Brainer..should be no reason why I should have to buy a pedal to have one.. They had it added when it first came out in Ideascale, but it seems they just never talked about it anymore cause the dang Amplify never worked correctly in Bluetooth so long. So everyone was focused on that. Add a looper!!! push button in the Amplifi Remote for record and playback..keep it simple like a Ditto Looper..
  13. Lately when I record anything on my looper and I stop the recording, the playback volume is at less than half volume. Anything I play over that is very loud in comparison. Please help! Thank you

    Looper presets?

Hi guys! I'm sure this question has been answered before but i searched and searched and couldn't find any info on it. I'm wanting to have different loops saved into different patches. So when you go to a patch, a patch-specific loop plays. I have no idea if this is possible or not but I knew this would be the best place to ask. Thanks!
  15. First of all, back up your bundles and setlists via the Helix application on your computer. My Helix arrived Thursday October 8, 2015. I'm using two Mission Line 6 controller pedals. I've had a couple of bugs: 1. The unit would go silent but continue to navigate fine. Switching the unit off/on would correct. 2. The unit wouldn't boot up after the splash screen/firmware version. I had to factory reset to get the unit working. I'm guessing these issues are temporary and will be corrected in a firmware update. Looper: I'm not sure why the looper is only available as a block per preset, instead of a global looper like the M9. It seems odd that I cannot build loops from different presets, which is the best part about looping. I love the sounds! Did I mention I love the sounds? I love the sounds. I'm not much of a guitarist, but the Helix sounds fantastic and sounds liked a microphoned cabinet to me. I'll be using the Helix for Chapman Stick, Bass, Acoustic and Electric Guitars. It's very easy to navigate. Drag and drop presets would be a handy feature of the Helix application for the computer. I'm looking forward to many happy years with my Helix!

    The Helix Looper

The Looper How do I find the Looper? Most factory presets already have a Looper block, ready to go. If your preset doesn't, or you cleared all the blocks, Looper blocks can be selected from the very bottom of the Model List, below the Send/Return category. How much looping time do I get? For mono looping, Helix gives you up to 120 seconds 1/2-speed or 60 seconds full speed. There’s also a new stereo looper, which gives you 60 seconds 1/2-speed or 30 seconds full speed. Why does the Looper stop when I switch presets? Helix's looper can maintain playback and recording across presets as long as the target preset: Has the same type of looper block (mono or stereo) Has the looper block on the same path (1 or 2) Has the looper block assigned to a footswitch Otherwise, loop recording/playback will stop. Basic Looper Usage Helix can add one mono or stereo Looper block per preset. The Looper can exist anywhere on either Path 1 or Path 2. See Looper Footswitch Mode for information on using the Looper. Using a Dual signal path: Keep in mind that the looper is only available for one signal path at a time. So if you're using a second signal path, you will noticed a significant drop in volume, since the looper is only on one path. Looper Settings Knob Parameter Description 1 Playback: Adjusts looper playback level. You may find it useful to turn this down a bit so your live guitar can be slightly louder. 2 Overdub:Sets the level of your loop while overdubbing. For example, if your Overdub Level is set to 90%, each time your loop repeats, its volume will be reduced by 10%, sounding quieter and quieter with each overdub pass. 3 Low Cut and Low Cut: Filters a portion of the loop's bass and/or treble frequencies, which can improve the mix with your live guitar. For more information check out the manual here.
  17. Not sure if already posted elsewhere (I couldn't find it). If I want to have more than the 20" (?) loop that the FH is capable of, or if I want to record multiple tracks and store them for future use, one solution is to use an external looper. I could put it just on the AMP Out connection and then go to my amp and it should work fine, right? But if I don't have an amp available and I normally use the headphones connected to the FH, I could connect the external looper to the FX send/return connections and have it in the FX Loop module. And now the question is: if I do so, I always have the reverb after the FX Loop, and I cannot swap them (I know that on Ideascale there is already a suggestion to let all module movable everywhere). In this case, if I record the loop with the reverb on, what happens when I start playing it? The recorded track gets "reverbered" again? And what happens if the looper is playing and I change the preset?
  18. Hi Guys, Just wanted to know if there was a good way of connecting a POD HD500 with a RC 300 (or for that matter any external looper) and a DT 25. At the moment I have my JTV 89f going into my POD HD500 then the out from POD going into the instrument in of Boss RC 300 and the Out from Boss going into my DT 25. The problem with this setup is that I cant control the DT 25 from my pod this way. I want to be able to use the looper with the POD and still be able to use the DT amp from the POD patches. Is that possible?
  19. Hello, I'm trying to fully integrate the PODHD500x with Ableton Live so that I can use the "Looper" device in Ableton, because I want the master clock to be Ableton so that my loops are always in sync and in the right Time Signature depending of what track I'm running. So to clear some info about my setup. I'm already sending and receiving MIDI from Ableton through the POD. At this moment I can send program changes from Ableton to switch presets and banks in the hardware. Also I can even control specific devices in the Hardware, like for example sending Midi to the POD to activate FX and Modulate the Expression pedals. So this chapter is working like a charm. What is missing though is a way to use the Looper in the POD to control Ableton Live's Looper. So at this point I'm already sending MIDI to Looper. The way I've managed to don't have the POD's Looper over Ableton's Looper was to turn the playback volume of Looper on the POD to 0. This way I can only listen the Looper from Ableton. Now the biggest problem arises from the button behaviour in the POD itself when the looper switch is Activated. Because the REC and Overdub (as also the the PLAY and STOP) use the same Switch (alternately) mapping it to Ableton creates a problem that involves having to press twice for the Switch to do it's defined midi function. So the way I have it set up is by using 6 Switches. a) Switch #1 (FS5) - REC a) Switch #2 (FS6) - PLAY a) Switch #3 (FS7) - OVERDUB a) Switch #4 (FS8) - STOP a) Switch #5 (FS1) - UNDO a) Switch #6 (FS2) - CLEAR But for this to work as a normal Midi Looper too this buttons need to have an option to work as momentary and only send one CC event. So my suggestion is to have an option in the Hardware itself to "Bypass the Looper's Switches functions" (making all the FS switches "MOMENTARY" OR "NOTE") so that If anyone wants to use the Looper function as a MIDI CC's it won't be limited because of the way the Switches Work in the POD. Let me know what you guys think of this :) Thank you Andregmendes.com
  20. Hey folks. Here are a couple of videos that may help you get a bit more out of your Firehawk. How to use the Firehawk FX Looper - https://youtu.be/1cHcI0XBrkw How to use the Firehawk FX Live Edit - https://youtu.be/p2qlEX4Fwks
  21. Hei. I have been latelly experiencing that my jm4 is having and odd behavior. The Lcd screen suddenly shows that the volume is being moved while playing. Evenmore, it can happen while trying to hit play or stop on an overdub not allowing the action to take effect and even not allowing to record while it happens. It also happens very often, I would say with intervals of 10 to 15 secs or less but it is not a fixed time. I have come to the idea that the volume knob is damage. I am wondering if somebody else is experiencing the same problem? Eventually if this is due to the volume knob where could i posiblly get a replacement or what type of knob should i get for this equipment Thanks Jan
  22. Hello to all, I have searched the forums and had no luck so I'll post here for any feed back. First off let me say that this pod is awesome but only 1 complaint is that the looper effect doesn't work consistantly (seems to have a mind of it's own) when it works, it work well but when it doesn't ......GRRRR! so I was wondering if anyone else has had or is having this issue, or is there some thing that I'm missing or is it a faulty unit. Appreciated any feedback or wisdom that might help me out. Thanks in advance SJ
  23. Hi, I have the M13 love it but this looks even better. Two questions: 1. Does the Firehawk have a looper like the M13 pedal? 2. Can you bypass the Amp & Cab's by choosing No Amp So its only effects? Thank you,
  24. Hi We are using our DAW (reaper) to change presets on our POD HD Pro and POD HD Pro X through MIDI during our live performances. Now we would like to add some looper-functions and give us the ability to get the sound of 3 guitars simultaneously which would be awesome! I've found all the looper MIDI-values necessary i the manual but from what I've understood you can only access "Looper-Mode" when having a FBV-pedal connected int the POD?! Is this correct? In that case, is there any workaround? It would truly sting if we were forced to buy a FBV just to be able to use the looper-function since we'r already using MIDI to control everything else..
  25. Hi everyone. My lovely HD500x does not "record" in my loop for more than about 15 seconds, when it begins recording again in a new layer over the other one. What I want is to lay my first layer down until I turn it off (after 30 seconds) then record the next one on top of that. Help? Many thanks! :)
