  1. In looper mode, when you stop recording, it immediately drops into overdub mode. If you don't stop playing the riff exactly when you hit the stop recording button, you'll over dub that first note. That causes volume of the first note of the loop to double. I'd prefer that you aren't dropped into overdub immediately, and instead have to press the rec/overdub button again to start recording a new layer. Is that configurable anywhere? I can't seem to find it.
  2. Hey, I connected Helix via USB+camera connection kit to my ipad and the Quantiloop (ver 2) looper app. When doing that, the buffer size parameter on quantiloop is stuck at buffer size 128 (not a problem to change to 256, 512, 1024 while not connected to helix). When I record a track in quantiloop like this, I can send the midi commands from helix to the app on the ipad without any problems, but I get the recorded sound back with clicks/pops... and I think it has to do with the buffer size... This is annoying, but except for that quantiloop looks like a cool app! (BTW - no problem when using Loopy HD in a similar way...)
  3. Hi guyz, I am having a constant problem about my delay unit. At first it started freezing during loops, it used to be ok if I replug the unit, it used to keep working like that. But eventually it started not to turn on, I had it repaired last week, the repairman told me that the issue is really prevalent in most of the DL4s anyway, I got it back yesterday, I had a performance, it worked really fine but now it decided not to turn on again. Actually it was working just fine this morning, i was messing around with some live looping stuff. And then bum! it freezed, (i wish it had a ctrl alt del button lol). I need help. Did any of you have this issue? p.s: 1-i'm not running it with the batteries, 2-i'm pretty sure that i'm using the right power supply 3-yes i tried another power supply
  4. I use a DigiTech JamMan Stereo Looper. Which connection scheme would you prefer? "FX send -> external looper-> FX return" or "monitor out -> external looper -> monitor in ". Or something else? Why? I would like to record/overdub different sounds, e.g. Bass, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, therefore the simplest connection scheme "guitar/bass -> external looper -> FH's guitar input" I would not like to use, because then my looper records the dry, unprocessed instrument signal, which always runs through the currently chosen FH signalprocessing. Cheers Peter
  5. Hi, I am with a company designing a custom midi controller that we wanted to have work with the M9. We are using Arduino to implement the controller. I have the looper doing play/stop and record via midi, all of which work great. When I tried to implement overdubbing, the M9 does not respond. I am sending a midi control change message with controller number 50 and a value of 0 on channel 1. I have tested this by sending the midi message to Abelton, which recieves it correctly and verifies this is what is being sent. I have also tried implementing it via Arduino's midi library and via their serial.write sending the message manually. I checked the midi input in setup as well, and have tried it both as channel 1 and omni. Another weird thing is that when the M9 is in record mode and receives this message it goes into playing while overdubbing, but once the M9 is playing the message does nothing. Really unsure what is wrong here unless our M9 is just defective, I have exhausted every other factor of error I can think of. I am going off the midi controls listed in the manual here: http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593fca717b/application/pdf/M9%20Advanced%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf We are on a deadline to have this working so any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!
  6. It appears to me that I can record and play a loop as long as I'm in the tone patch only. After switching to another tone patch or after switching off my Helix, the phrase is gone. Is there a possibility to store a loop-phrase assigned to a patch, so that I could record a loop at home and call (play) it on stage while playing a second phrase live?
  7. 1-I want to assign the Helix looper function to al my patches and activate by a footswitch 2-the first single path has run out of space how do I add more patches
  8. Hi all - I'm a new HD Pro user, and a complete noob when it comes to multi-FX units, looping, etc (used individual stompboxes for years and years, however). Hoping for suggestions / answers to a tricky situation I need to solve for a particular song: "Moonchild" by Iron Maiden, which I'm doing with a tribute band that I just joined in the Dave Murray role and which just added this song to the setlist for a gig coming up in 3 weeks. In this song, there is a single acoustic guitar under the start of the intro. As the last acoustic chord rings out, a distorted, sustained power chord swell comes in underneath, and shortly after that the other guitarist comes in with a melody. So I need to execute that power-chord swell, while the last acoustic chord is still ringing out. The overlap between the two different sounds is not very long, but there does need to be a little overlap between the decay of the acoustic chord and the distorted power chord swelling in. Can I do either of the following to achieve this, while keeping the two tones separate, and if so, how? (1) Use some sort of effect on my acoustic patch to prolong the sustain of that last chord while I switch to a distorted tone, turn my volume knob down, hit the low-E power chord, and then swell it? Or: (2) Record that power-chord swell as a loop, and trigger the loop right after I hit the last acoustic chord so it comes in while the acoustic part is still ringing out, and switch to my distorted rhythm patch while the loop plays back? The real Iron Maiden does this song live today using three guitarists - Dave does the acoustic part, Janick hits the power-chord swell, and Adrian comes in with the melody. When Maiden had only two guitarists, they did this song live with the intro as playback from the album, then switched to live playing at the beginning of the verse as the band ran out onto the stage (as they did with Aces High when they started the show with that song). We've gotta do it with only two guitars. I'm running the HD Pro with mono output into one channel of a Marshall 9005 power amp, output mono into the speaker cab with the other channel unused. So if any suggestions involve stereo operation, I'll have to change my setup somewhat. Thanks!

  10. I recently bought a line 6 pod hd 500x .when i tried looper i was able to record a pattern and when i tried to change the tone to play some lead the tone of the recorded portion changes. please help me
  11. I made a quick YouTube video explaining two Helix feature requests: 1) Allow the use of FS4 and FS5 during looper mode http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Assignable-switches-within-LOOPER/799749-23508 2) While initially recording a loop, let the UNDO button cancel recording http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Looper-Undo-to-stop-recording-but-remember-it/789994-23508 http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Helix-Looper-Stop/789484-23508 If you agree, please consider upvoting those IdeaScale submissions. Thanks! Matt
  12. For those of you who uses the looper regularly, is it possible to record (for example) a 15 secs trk and loop that over and over? Of course I read the manual, but couldn't get it done..
  13. Man this thing would be so much nicer if the loop back state and button controls were always accessible. Right now I have to mod tones to map the looper to a pedal button and play aggravating morse code to program it. I gotta sign up for that idea thing line 6 does
  14. Quick question, have had the Helix for a couple of days now, sounds great, really like it. Only thing I haven't been to figure out is if am I able to assign certain Looper parameters (such as Record, Playback, Stop) to the my primary Stompbox or "Home" screen, without actually having to go into "Looper" mode via a footswitch? Has anyone been able to accomplish this???

    Looper question

Hi everyone, This might be a silly question but I can't for the life of me figure it out. If I've started to record a loop in the helix - and I've made a mistake, is there a way to cancel that recording completely. I've only been able to play the recording and stop it immediately but you'll still get a bit of the start of the loop. I recall on the M13, you were able to press stop but that doesn't seem to work on the helix. Any thoughts?
  16. Is there a hidden UNDO function for the looper on the HD400? I can't believe they would release something with such an obvious flaw... I see the HD500 has a dedicated Undo button. Is there a firmware update or secret handshake I am missing? Thanks!
  17. I'm not sure if this has been answered or not, but I have a question about the looper and using an external midi controller. If I were to use an external controller to trigger the looper functions with midi commands, will the Helix (control section) go into looper mode or will it remain in preset/footswitch mode?
  18. Hello, I would like to know if it's possible to add a loop effect, pedal in the pod farm ? Or if does a compatible software exist ? Thanks' Sébastien
  19. We now Need a Looper, there is no reason not to have one in the Remote, it would add so much more capability to the Amplify, I can then record a Background Rhythm, play that back and then be able to play my Lead's. With all of the Capability of the iPad or iPhone, that is a no Brainer..should be no reason why I should have to buy a pedal to have one.. They had it added when it first came out in Ideascale, but it seems they just never talked about it anymore cause the dang Amplify never worked correctly in Bluetooth so long. So everyone was focused on that. Add a looper!!! push button in the Amplifi Remote for record and playback..keep it simple like a Ditto Looper..

    Looper presets?

Hi guys! I'm sure this question has been answered before but i searched and searched and couldn't find any info on it. I'm wanting to have different loops saved into different patches. So when you go to a patch, a patch-specific loop plays. I have no idea if this is possible or not but I knew this would be the best place to ask. Thanks!
  21. First of all, back up your bundles and setlists via the Helix application on your computer. My Helix arrived Thursday October 8, 2015. I'm using two Mission Line 6 controller pedals. I've had a couple of bugs: 1. The unit would go silent but continue to navigate fine. Switching the unit off/on would correct. 2. The unit wouldn't boot up after the splash screen/firmware version. I had to factory reset to get the unit working. I'm guessing these issues are temporary and will be corrected in a firmware update. Looper: I'm not sure why the looper is only available as a block per preset, instead of a global looper like the M9. It seems odd that I cannot build loops from different presets, which is the best part about looping. I love the sounds! Did I mention I love the sounds? I love the sounds. I'm not much of a guitarist, but the Helix sounds fantastic and sounds liked a microphoned cabinet to me. I'll be using the Helix for Chapman Stick, Bass, Acoustic and Electric Guitars. It's very easy to navigate. Drag and drop presets would be a handy feature of the Helix application for the computer. I'm looking forward to many happy years with my Helix!
  22. Hi, I have the M13 love it but this looks even better. Two questions: 1. Does the Firehawk have a looper like the M13 pedal? 2. Can you bypass the Amp & Cab's by choosing No Amp So its only effects? Thank you,
  23. Hi Guys, Just wanted to know if there was a good way of connecting a POD HD500 with a RC 300 (or for that matter any external looper) and a DT 25. At the moment I have my JTV 89f going into my POD HD500 then the out from POD going into the instrument in of Boss RC 300 and the Out from Boss going into my DT 25. The problem with this setup is that I cant control the DT 25 from my pod this way. I want to be able to use the looper with the POD and still be able to use the DT amp from the POD patches. Is that possible?
  24. Hello, I'm trying to fully integrate the PODHD500x with Ableton Live so that I can use the "Looper" device in Ableton, because I want the master clock to be Ableton so that my loops are always in sync and in the right Time Signature depending of what track I'm running. So to clear some info about my setup. I'm already sending and receiving MIDI from Ableton through the POD. At this moment I can send program changes from Ableton to switch presets and banks in the hardware. Also I can even control specific devices in the Hardware, like for example sending Midi to the POD to activate FX and Modulate the Expression pedals. So this chapter is working like a charm. What is missing though is a way to use the Looper in the POD to control Ableton Live's Looper. So at this point I'm already sending MIDI to Looper. The way I've managed to don't have the POD's Looper over Ableton's Looper was to turn the playback volume of Looper on the POD to 0. This way I can only listen the Looper from Ableton. Now the biggest problem arises from the button behaviour in the POD itself when the looper switch is Activated. Because the REC and Overdub (as also the the PLAY and STOP) use the same Switch (alternately) mapping it to Ableton creates a problem that involves having to press twice for the Switch to do it's defined midi function. So the way I have it set up is by using 6 Switches. a) Switch #1 (FS5) - REC a) Switch #2 (FS6) - PLAY a) Switch #3 (FS7) - OVERDUB a) Switch #4 (FS8) - STOP a) Switch #5 (FS1) - UNDO a) Switch #6 (FS2) - CLEAR But for this to work as a normal Midi Looper too this buttons need to have an option to work as momentary and only send one CC event. So my suggestion is to have an option in the Hardware itself to "Bypass the Looper's Switches functions" (making all the FS switches "MOMENTARY" OR "NOTE") so that If anyone wants to use the Looper function as a MIDI CC's it won't be limited because of the way the Switches Work in the POD. Let me know what you guys think of this :) Thank you Andregmendes.com
  25. Hello there, I have recently gotten a DT25 combo and a Pod HD500X to replace my aged and now defunct Spider III 120. I have enjoyed learning to use it and although i have come across a few quirks of using the two together and with other devices, I have so far been able to come up with a solution to all of my issues. However, a new issue has come up and I am hoping that this very knowledgeable forum can help! -Firstly, what I have been doing and enjoying; 1. DT25 is in LVM 1a. Looper is in post mode 2. Start on clean patch 3. Record chord progression 4. Exit overdub and exit looper to switch patches 5. Switch to lead patch (uses treadplate full and cab sims) 6. Loop is playing with the same volume as on previous patch, and I have my lead sound to solo with. 7. No issues with this method! It works how I would expect. :) -Here is where the issue arises. I had not noticed this yet as I had not had a chance to play with the DT in Normal Volume mode and use the looper; 1. DT25 is in Normal Volume Mode 1a. Looper is in post mode 2. Start on clean patch 3. Record chord progression 4. Exit overdub and exit looper to switch patches 5. Switch to lead patch (uses treadplate full and cab sims) 6. Loop is playing much louder as compared to the previous patch, and I have my lead sound to solo with. 7. What is causing this volume change when in this volume mode on the DT25? It makes it very hard to use the looper as the volume changes are quite abrupt and it creates a weird disparity between the original comp and the loop. I appreciate any comments that you all are able to offer, thank you! :)
