  1. In looper mode, when you stop recording, it immediately drops into overdub mode. If you don't stop playing the riff exactly when you hit the stop recording button, you'll over dub that first note. That causes volume of the first note of the loop to double. I'd prefer that you aren't dropped into overdub immediately, and instead have to press the rec/overdub button again to start recording a new layer. Is that configurable anywhere? I can't seem to find it.
  2. Hi all. I am new on here but I am desperate for some help. Basically can you add extra footswitches to the helix? I want to be able to control the looper and maybe a couple of stomp effects from a different location to the helix (just a few feet away) Is there a pedal that can do this please? Many thanks Richard
  3. Hi all, I'm hoping someone can give me some guidance on how I can use my Helix with an external looper (Boss RC-3, for example)? I am not using an amp. My Helix goes to my studio monitors. Where in the chain do I put the RC-3? I just got my Helix and am really loving it. I just don't know how to use my RC-3 with it. Thanks! -Michael
  4. I use a DigiTech JamMan Stereo Looper. Which connection scheme would you prefer? "FX send -> external looper-> FX return" or "monitor out -> external looper -> monitor in ". Or something else? Why? I would like to record/overdub different sounds, e.g. Bass, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, therefore the simplest connection scheme "guitar/bass -> external looper -> FH's guitar input" I would not like to use, because then my looper records the dry, unprocessed instrument signal, which always runs through the currently chosen FH signalprocessing. Cheers Peter
  5. It appears to me that I can record and play a loop as long as I'm in the tone patch only. After switching to another tone patch or after switching off my Helix, the phrase is gone. Is there a possibility to store a loop-phrase assigned to a patch, so that I could record a loop at home and call (play) it on stage while playing a second phrase live?
  6. 1-I want to assign the Helix looper function to al my patches and activate by a footswitch 2-the first single path has run out of space how do I add more patches
  7. Hi all - I'm a new HD Pro user, and a complete noob when it comes to multi-FX units, looping, etc (used individual stompboxes for years and years, however). Hoping for suggestions / answers to a tricky situation I need to solve for a particular song: "Moonchild" by Iron Maiden, which I'm doing with a tribute band that I just joined in the Dave Murray role and which just added this song to the setlist for a gig coming up in 3 weeks. In this song, there is a single acoustic guitar under the start of the intro. As the last acoustic chord rings out, a distorted, sustained power chord swell comes in underneath, and shortly after that the other guitarist comes in with a melody. So I need to execute that power-chord swell, while the last acoustic chord is still ringing out. The overlap between the two different sounds is not very long, but there does need to be a little overlap between the decay of the acoustic chord and the distorted power chord swelling in. Can I do either of the following to achieve this, while keeping the two tones separate, and if so, how? (1) Use some sort of effect on my acoustic patch to prolong the sustain of that last chord while I switch to a distorted tone, turn my volume knob down, hit the low-E power chord, and then swell it? Or: (2) Record that power-chord swell as a loop, and trigger the loop right after I hit the last acoustic chord so it comes in while the acoustic part is still ringing out, and switch to my distorted rhythm patch while the loop plays back? The real Iron Maiden does this song live today using three guitarists - Dave does the acoustic part, Janick hits the power-chord swell, and Adrian comes in with the melody. When Maiden had only two guitarists, they did this song live with the intro as playback from the album, then switched to live playing at the beginning of the verse as the band ran out onto the stage (as they did with Aces High when they started the show with that song). We've gotta do it with only two guitars. I'm running the HD Pro with mono output into one channel of a Marshall 9005 power amp, output mono into the speaker cab with the other channel unused. So if any suggestions involve stereo operation, I'll have to change my setup somewhat. Thanks!
  8. Hi, I am with a company designing a custom midi controller that we wanted to have work with the M9. We are using Arduino to implement the controller. I have the looper doing play/stop and record via midi, all of which work great. When I tried to implement overdubbing, the M9 does not respond. I am sending a midi control change message with controller number 50 and a value of 0 on channel 1. I have tested this by sending the midi message to Abelton, which recieves it correctly and verifies this is what is being sent. I have also tried implementing it via Arduino's midi library and via their serial.write sending the message manually. I checked the midi input in setup as well, and have tried it both as channel 1 and omni. Another weird thing is that when the M9 is in record mode and receives this message it goes into playing while overdubbing, but once the M9 is playing the message does nothing. Really unsure what is wrong here unless our M9 is just defective, I have exhausted every other factor of error I can think of. I am going off the midi controls listed in the manual here: http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593fca717b/application/pdf/M9%20Advanced%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf We are on a deadline to have this working so any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!

  10. I recently bought a line 6 pod hd 500x .when i tried looper i was able to record a pattern and when i tried to change the tone to play some lead the tone of the recorded portion changes. please help me
  11. I made a quick YouTube video explaining two Helix feature requests: 1) Allow the use of FS4 and FS5 during looper mode http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Assignable-switches-within-LOOPER/799749-23508 2) While initially recording a loop, let the UNDO button cancel recording http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Looper-Undo-to-stop-recording-but-remember-it/789994-23508 http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Helix-Looper-Stop/789484-23508 If you agree, please consider upvoting those IdeaScale submissions. Thanks! Matt
  12. Hi, I noticed that when I record a loop (single layer), the volume of its playback drops quite a lot compared with anything I play on it (even not overdubbing another loop on it), or compared to the volume when I recorded it. I think it was like that also in the HD500, but not this bad. This happens when in the looper (mono looper) settings I have "playback" and "overdub" at 0 dB, and the low/high cuts are at 20Hz/20kHz. Is there any way to increase the volume of the playback (and not the volume of what I play over it....)? Thanks!
  13. Man this thing would be so much nicer if the loop back state and button controls were always accessible. Right now I have to mod tones to map the looper to a pedal button and play aggravating morse code to program it. I gotta sign up for that idea thing line 6 does
  14. For those of you who uses the looper regularly, is it possible to record (for example) a 15 secs trk and loop that over and over? Of course I read the manual, but couldn't get it done..
  15. Quick question, have had the Helix for a couple of days now, sounds great, really like it. Only thing I haven't been to figure out is if am I able to assign certain Looper parameters (such as Record, Playback, Stop) to the my primary Stompbox or "Home" screen, without actually having to go into "Looper" mode via a footswitch? Has anyone been able to accomplish this???

    Looper question

Hi everyone, This might be a silly question but I can't for the life of me figure it out. If I've started to record a loop in the helix - and I've made a mistake, is there a way to cancel that recording completely. I've only been able to play the recording and stop it immediately but you'll still get a bit of the start of the loop. I recall on the M13, you were able to press stop but that doesn't seem to work on the helix. Any thoughts?
  17. I'm not sure if this has been answered or not, but I have a question about the looper and using an external midi controller. If I were to use an external controller to trigger the looper functions with midi commands, will the Helix (control section) go into looper mode or will it remain in preset/footswitch mode?
  18. Hi guyz, I am having a constant problem about my delay unit. At first it started freezing during loops, it used to be ok if I replug the unit, it used to keep working like that. But eventually it started not to turn on, I had it repaired last week, the repairman told me that the issue is really prevalent in most of the DL4s anyway, I got it back yesterday, I had a performance, it worked really fine but now it decided not to turn on again. Actually it was working just fine this morning, i was messing around with some live looping stuff. And then bum! it freezed, (i wish it had a ctrl alt del button lol). I need help. Did any of you have this issue? p.s: 1-i'm not running it with the batteries, 2-i'm pretty sure that i'm using the right power supply 3-yes i tried another power supply
  19. Is there a hidden UNDO function for the looper on the HD400? I can't believe they would release something with such an obvious flaw... I see the HD500 has a dedicated Undo button. Is there a firmware update or secret handshake I am missing? Thanks!
  20. We now Need a Looper, there is no reason not to have one in the Remote, it would add so much more capability to the Amplify, I can then record a Background Rhythm, play that back and then be able to play my Lead's. With all of the Capability of the iPad or iPhone, that is a no Brainer..should be no reason why I should have to buy a pedal to have one.. They had it added when it first came out in Ideascale, but it seems they just never talked about it anymore cause the dang Amplify never worked correctly in Bluetooth so long. So everyone was focused on that. Add a looper!!! push button in the Amplifi Remote for record and playback..keep it simple like a Ditto Looper..
  21. Lately when I record anything on my looper and I stop the recording, the playback volume is at less than half volume. Anything I play over that is very loud in comparison. Please help! Thank you

    Looper presets?

Hi guys! I'm sure this question has been answered before but i searched and searched and couldn't find any info on it. I'm wanting to have different loops saved into different patches. So when you go to a patch, a patch-specific loop plays. I have no idea if this is possible or not but I knew this would be the best place to ask. Thanks!
  23. First of all, back up your bundles and setlists via the Helix application on your computer. My Helix arrived Thursday October 8, 2015. I'm using two Mission Line 6 controller pedals. I've had a couple of bugs: 1. The unit would go silent but continue to navigate fine. Switching the unit off/on would correct. 2. The unit wouldn't boot up after the splash screen/firmware version. I had to factory reset to get the unit working. I'm guessing these issues are temporary and will be corrected in a firmware update. Looper: I'm not sure why the looper is only available as a block per preset, instead of a global looper like the M9. It seems odd that I cannot build loops from different presets, which is the best part about looping. I love the sounds! Did I mention I love the sounds? I love the sounds. I'm not much of a guitarist, but the Helix sounds fantastic and sounds liked a microphoned cabinet to me. I'll be using the Helix for Chapman Stick, Bass, Acoustic and Electric Guitars. It's very easy to navigate. Drag and drop presets would be a handy feature of the Helix application for the computer. I'm looking forward to many happy years with my Helix!

    The Helix Looper

The Looper How do I find the Looper? Most factory presets already have a Looper block, ready to go. If your preset doesn't, or you cleared all the blocks, Looper blocks can be selected from the very bottom of the Model List, below the Send/Return category. How much looping time do I get? For mono looping, Helix gives you up to 120 seconds 1/2-speed or 60 seconds full speed. There’s also a new stereo looper, which gives you 60 seconds 1/2-speed or 30 seconds full speed. Why does the Looper stop when I switch presets? Helix's looper can maintain playback and recording across presets as long as the target preset: Has the same type of looper block (mono or stereo) Has the looper block on the same path (1 or 2) Has the looper block assigned to a footswitch Otherwise, loop recording/playback will stop. Basic Looper Usage Helix can add one mono or stereo Looper block per preset. The Looper can exist anywhere on either Path 1 or Path 2. See Looper Footswitch Mode for information on using the Looper. Using a Dual signal path: Keep in mind that the looper is only available for one signal path at a time. So if you're using a second signal path, you will noticed a significant drop in volume, since the looper is only on one path. Looper Settings Knob Parameter Description 1 Playback: Adjusts looper playback level. You may find it useful to turn this down a bit so your live guitar can be slightly louder. 2 Overdub:Sets the level of your loop while overdubbing. For example, if your Overdub Level is set to 90%, each time your loop repeats, its volume will be reduced by 10%, sounding quieter and quieter with each overdub pass. 3 Low Cut and Low Cut: Filters a portion of the loop's bass and/or treble frequencies, which can improve the mix with your live guitar. For more information check out the manual here.
  25. Not sure if already posted elsewhere (I couldn't find it). If I want to have more than the 20" (?) loop that the FH is capable of, or if I want to record multiple tracks and store them for future use, one solution is to use an external looper. I could put it just on the AMP Out connection and then go to my amp and it should work fine, right? But if I don't have an amp available and I normally use the headphones connected to the FH, I could connect the external looper to the FX send/return connections and have it in the FX Loop module. And now the question is: if I do so, I always have the reverb after the FX Loop, and I cannot swap them (I know that on Ideascale there is already a suggestion to let all module movable everywhere). In this case, if I record the loop with the reverb on, what happens when I start playing it? The recorded track gets "reverbered" again? And what happens if the looper is playing and I change the preset?
